In-N-Out Burger

Compared to other fast food, this is the gold standard - only rivaled by Chick-fil-A or maybe Wahlburgers. Great food, friendly service, very clean dining room. The only nitpick is that the fries are served mostly floppy, but that's not terrible. This was my first experience at In-n-Out and it was very positive!

Ordered two burgers with extra toasted buns and only one was barely eatable. Salty patties and it just mushed in my hand. I thought by ordering an extra toasted bun I’d be able to enjoy my food. Person who took order was hella cool but didn’t appreciate not getting my extra toasted buns that was tore apart

In-N-Out in Merced has always been a favorite of mine, especially back when I lived there in 2020. I remember placing a huge order, and they handled it quickly and without missing a beat. Their burgers are consistently fresh and juicy, and if you haven’t tried it “Animal Style all the way,” you’re definitely missing out—extra sauce, grilled onions, and pickles make all the difference. The fries are perfectly crispy and a great complement to the meal. The staff is friendly and efficient, keeping things moving even during the busiest times. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, In-N-Out Merced delivers that classic, unbeatable burger experience every time. It’s definitely a must-visit spot for any burger lover.

My burger was incredibly pink compared to my partners :( Not sure why, usually love this location but it’s just kind of uncomfortably pink. PS you do not want to mess with JJ B. I do not like pink burgers. I am feeling sick now. Ugh :(

Best Burger Joint in Town. I think In-n-Out is one of my most favorite places to eat here in Merced. As is for most people living here from his packed it always is. The food is great, friendly atmosphere, AC, plenty of parking, restrooms, wheelchair accessible, handicap parking, drive thru, etc. I Love it !!!

It really doesn't get any better. It's hard to find another burger place that is so good, affordable & convenient. Great job, as always! It doesn't matter how busy it is (& they are busy!) the service is fairly quick, the place is clean & the smiles are ready.

Literally the only burger joint I go to! Burgers are always delicious and the animal fries are amazing! It’s perfection every single time! I come here at least 3 times a month lol not even kidding and I have never gotten tired of it! The employees are friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. The only downfall are the customers whom park on the side and then other customers waiting for the drive thru think it’s part of the line and everyone is just sitting ducks lol but restaurant wise! Best burger spot you can go to!

When we arrived at In-N-Out, the place was bustling with activity. Despite the crowd, the staff’s efficiency shone through as they swiftly took our order. Our modest order consisted of seven burgers and two fries, and it was ready in about 15 minutes - a reasonable wait time considering the number of patrons. The real challenge was finding a place to sit due to the busy atmosphere. It’s a testament to the popularity of In-N-Out, but it did add a layer of inconvenience to our experience. As for the staff, they were professional and focused on their tasks. They might not have been the most welcoming, given their emphasis on efficiency, but they were definitely competent and ensured our order was handled well.

Been to this location a couple of times now. The line is usually wrapped out around the street corner on busy weekend nights, but it moves fast, even for an In N Out. I've also eaten in the dining room, and thought it was clean enough, and of course the food was just as great. The only downside is that it takes like twice as much time to get your food if you order it in the dining room versus in the drive through. Last night, I started in line on the street, and think I was In N Out in less than fifteen minutes. I noticed that the drive through line at the restaurant across the street was moving slower, in spite of being much shorter. I always order some combination of a Neapolitan shake, an animal fry (sometimes with extra grilled onions and an extra sauce packet on the side), and/or a double double animal style extra tomato both kinds of onions. The food here has always been exactly what you would expect from In N Out. Fresh, fast, affordable, and delicious. My order usually costs around ten dollars. Last night, the Neapolitan shake I ordered was so Instagrammable, I wish I had taken a picture of it. The lid looked like a perfectly portioned pinwheel of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. I don't know of many great/consistent food options in Merced yet, but I'm never disappointed with In N Out.

The guy that made my burger was really funny. I asked him if he could remake my burger because the bun was burnt and he goes "this is how we normally make it and if you don't want it like this you can tell us to lightly toast it". That's why I'm giving them a small amount of stars but they're normally good. Just remember to tell them to lightly toast the buns guys! Lol

The person attending the register that night was fantastic. Super friendly and got me through quickly. Food at in-n-out is always pretty standard but delicious tasting burger. I think a preference of mine next time would be one order of normal fries and one order of well done fries mixed together because I think all well done fries after you get past halfway just taste like chips.

Gisselle helped me out me out was so nice and helped me take my food to my car and she had the best customer service !! 10 outta 10 experience!

Food was great everyone was excited for their food and when the food arrived everyone was excited to eat. Food was good just wish Giselle and Cianna had a more positive attitude, they seem like they are bothered by everything. They were giving each other side eyes because I requested that my food be put into a box.

For some reason this In N Out didn't taste like traditional In N Out to me? Maybe they didn't add enough special spread? Idk it tasted bland and dry. There wasn't that many people but the wait seemed long too. Located in Merced, I wouldn't normally be here but we passed through from Yosemite. Root beer was lacking in fizz and rather flat. Fries were meh. Overall satisfied hunger but it didn't hit the same.

Family went around 11:15 ish ordered 3 meals, our favorite spot, we never even check our meals because in and out always delivers the best with no issues , but this time was unfortunately different:( we got home and pulled out our meals and all three of our burgers had burnt buns, all the edges were hard and not edible because of the burnt crunchy taste.

I've came here a few times since living in Merced and I don't think I have had a single bad experience here. The food is always good and they never forget anything in my order, definitely recommend this in n out.

My first time at this fast food chain. Limited menu (duuuhh, fast food joint, not fine dining). Food is meh. I'm not a fast food fan so I cannot say anything positive about the burger and fries that we had. Typical fat food meal that you'll regret. No indoor seating allowed. You can eat at a few metal tables outside. The staff however, were the highlight of this experience. Very friendly and accommodating. Our order took a long time to prepare. So we were given complementary milk shakes for our wait. Wow customer service right there! Vanilla milkshake is the best one out of the three. Chocolate is fine as well, but too sweet. Strawberry shake is way too sweets

Y'all tryna be funny or something cause I wanted my fries hot HOT .. smh When I say I want my food fresh and hot , that's exactly what it sound like . And you give me this little bit of sauce , what ima do with this ?

Ordered - #1 combo animal style & Cheeseburger FOOD == (5/5) Burgers are always good and are better once I found out about animal style burger which adds pickles which goes for an acidic taste contrasting the savory fatty flavors from the meat and cheese. All the vegetables feel fresh and taste refreshing. SERVICE == (5/5) Can't go wrong with In-N-Out service they are always on it on spills and refilling the condiment station especially this one since it had two full boxes of banana peppers. WAITING == (3.5/5) Depending which time you go there might be a school of kids in front of you. Never try the drive through cause that going to cost you 20 minutes.

In and out is the best burger around in my opinion. They have as close to "homemade""home cooked" food as your going to get for a fast food restaurant. Quality ingredients. The staff is by far the best "fast food" restaurant experience in my opinion. If you haven't experienced in and out burger your missing out. Pro tip; Get your fries light well, get your burger no salt. Try a 4x2, 4 pattys 2 cheese. Thank me later.

So sad always came here and pay for our meal and you see homeless coming in getting soda, and using the restroom and leaving., the entrance doors are pretty gross. You lay your employees good for making fast food pay then to keep up the bathrooms entrance doors

I absolutely love In-N-Out Burger. I've been to a few on the West Coast and I've liked all of them. If you order some thing "animal style" it comes with special sauce. The fries are delicious the burgers are a good size, the shakes are amazing and the prices are spot on. Four stars is because of cleanliness. It is kind of messy in there. I do know it's a fast food restaurants but it doesn't have to be that messy. They're all messy not just this one. Service is friendly, it's actually pretty fast or how busy they are. Definitely going to go back again. I wish we had these on the East Coast where I live... they would be very popular. if you've never been to one go check it out. If you've been to one you know what I'm talking about

Longest wait I've ever had for the drive through. Worth it! The heat was most likely the reason why there was not someone outside taking car orders to speed up the drive through. The five stars comes from the employees of this location. Extremely friendly and obviously happy. It's not fun to order food from an unhappy server. No matter how hungry I am. The young girl who took our order over the microphone at the speaker was super friendly. The friendly and welcoming vibe continued at the first window for payment. Upon arriving the food pickup window the friendly service continued. I ordered ice tea & the young man offered a cup of ice without me having to ask. I would have discovered no ice in my ice tea when we drove off, and been unhappy. So; thank goodness he remembered for me. The burgers were set but to eat easily in the car. Delicious and fresh and no mistakes in the order. I wanted onions and extra pickles. The order was NOT messed up! The road trip ended with full tummies and happiness. If you stop by this location and see a line of cars, no worries. Relax and get your burger fix on. One of the best In'N Outs I've been too. Happy Yelping.

Need to have them here in the doordash cause their lines are insane best burgers and milkshakes in town totally gives H&W and Fosters Freeze run for their money! All still great though

My partner and I had our first In-N-Out experience ever here at Merced after driving from Yosemite National Park, and we left pretty disappointed. Partly we were expecting a lot more. But it is what it is, a really fresh burger (although the fries leaves a lot to be desired). We ordered the single cheeseburger to go along with the animal style fries. I have been told by others to get the fries well done, to get the bun extra toasted. I didn't do any of that beside getting the fries animal style. I figured if I had to do that, I wouldn't get the original experience. After having our meal, I can see the need to do so. The fries were polarizing. They weren't crispy and weren't fried very long here. The burger was interesting. It was very fresh, the bun had a nice chew and contained everything, yet being soft. The lettuce was crispy, and the tomato juicy. Everything was fresh and I liked it. However the beef ratio was a bit off I have to say, so we'll order a double next time. I suppose In-N-Out is all about the secret off menu customizations. As for this location, they did announce the wrong number for the tray so I ended up with someone else's order when they called for my number. They could use more cleaning here definitely. The garbage was filled and I did notice the chilies were gone.

This in-n-out has so gone down hill like whats the deal you dont like your job leave and find another one. These jobs are made for people trying to make extra cash or love interacting and serving people! In n out here has gotten more stingy with their food like hardly any lettuce when i get my burger, litterly only two! Ketchups for my fries! And i had asked for extra , workers have attitudes an Older gentlemen that has been there for a while sticks out the card reader half ass when im trying to stick my hand out has far as i can then he pulls it back so i have to reach further not only that his machine is taking a while to work so he "pushes" my card back in like what's the point of you giving the card reader so i can put my card in you might as well have taken it your self.

I made it a necessity to have this on my to do list for my Cali trip because in the East Coast we don't have In-N-Out. This chain is overly hyped! The burger was just like any fast food burger I've had. (I know this is a fast food chain.) But my expectations were a little high because everyone raves about how good it is. It's fairly inexpensive with a simple menu. I asked for onion rings but they only sold fries. The fries tasted old and dry probably one of the worst fries I've ever had to be honest. Maybe this was a bad batch? I don't know. Overall, I would probably give this place another chance.

We couldn't leave California without going to In-N-Out! We passed by here after visiting Yosemite National Park. This was the second time I've had In-N-Out and I'd say my experience with In-N-Out was okay. We got 2 double double animal style burgers with fries and their neapolitan shake. The (mixture of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla) shake was tasty but I did think it was on the thicker side. Burgers had double meat patties with extra thousand Island spread, mustard grilled patties, and extra pickles. They were all right, didn't have anything special in it my opinion. I did like how their fries were fried with sunflower oil but heads up, they were soggy. I would suggest telling them to have your fries well done or light well which are crunchier but not overcooked. Cheap and quick bite to go!

Always amazing. Always fresh. They're a great fast food place to follow on social media as well. They do so much more than just offer great food. But since we're all about food here on Yelp: The in-n-out menus are extremely easy to read. Short & sweet. Their burgers are made fresh with local ingredients, although one bummer is the meat size. The patties are a bit on the thin side, it won't interfere with the balanced taste of the burger but it is a bit dry. Luckily the sauces and veggies make up for the dry patty. It's honestly such a great place to eat at for a delicious lunch or dinner. They make great road trip stops also. You won't always find great service, but you'll always find great quality, flavor, and facilities. We love in and out! We go at least 2 times per week! The staff is always extremely kind and helpful! I really like the pebble ice in Merced, CA.

Food was mediocre, long lines as expected worst of all two suitcases were stolen from our truck on our first day of vacation. This was at the Merced Ca location. Never again.

Worst experience EVER. WAITED at the voice box for 15 min for no one to reply to us for us to move up and then they tell us they are closed at the window...this is 12 pm

Seems like In-N-Out is going downhill, quickly. The last 2 months I've visited several times and the food tastes off, the service is getting worse and the drive thru remains 15 cars deep. Going inside doesn't shorten your wait time. You wait just about the same either way. You ask for no tomato, you get tomato. You ask for cheese fries, you get animal fries. Every time I go there, they have new staff. Goodness. Tonight was no exception. I got some of the things I ordered and the fries were not cheese fries. How hard is it to slap on sliced cheese and melt it? Come on... Just an FYI - cheese fries cost the same as animal fries. Management refuses to charge for just cheese. Ridiculous. I keep telling my son that we need to find a new place to eat. That's crazy for french fries. A double-double burger is the same price. What the heck?! I'll keep searching for a better burger joint. This place is good for food late at night. That's why my son loves it so much.

Go to fast food places here in Merced. Usually gets super busy depending on timing. Employees are way nicer here than any other location i've been at. Burgers are always drippy at the end and messy to eat, but what burger isn't. Security guard outside, which makes me assume there's weird situations happening outside. Weird thing though about my last visit here, I saw my favorite employee that gives the best enthusiasm. But, there was this Asian female that was noticeably bossing people around and giving her other team members attitude. I could tell the other employees were annoyed by her.

Great consistent service every time. They don't screw you at the drive through. They must have a great way to make sure your order is right with each handoff. Never had to go back and ask or double check orders for correctness like the other McBurger joints. I love that the produce is always fresh and the tomato is never soggy. Onions are crisp (unless grilled) and lettuce is always fresh. Here's the rub, I'm so used to McFries that I prefer them over the taste of real fresh cut potatoes. Odd, but I feel like McFries are mashed, processed, shaped and then frozen. So when the fries are finally cooked, they have a crispy shell and mashed center. Almost like a twice baked potato. I think that's why I like them so much. But real fresh cut fries don't have the same taste and don't taste as good. Amirite? So when I finally taste real fresh cut fries, I don't like them. Tips- extra well fries. They cook them longer so they are crispy and crunchy all the way through. Add chilies, they will slice and add pepperchinies to the burger for you.

The best fast food place in Merced for a burger The workers here are so friendly and so attentive -place is clean -huge parking lot -drive thru line is always ridiculously long -indoor and out door sitting -it's right off the free way so a lot of tour buses stop here - animal fries are a must! -double cheeseburgers are a fav! - their milkshakes are to die for

YESSS! I finally had my first In-N-Out experience, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I got a cheeseburger, animal fries, and a chocolate milkshake.. SO good!! You have to try the fries or the burger in "animal style" because it is incredible. They add their special house sauce and cooked onions, so it adds a lot of flavor. I really enjoyed this specific location because it was super clean and the workers were very friendly! If I'm ever back in Merced, I'll definitely stop by this location again to get my fixin' of American cuisine:)
