Been to this location a couple of times now. The line is usually wrapped out around the street corner on busy weekend nights, but it moves fast, even for an In N Out.
I've also eaten in the dining room, and thought it was clean enough, and of course the food was just as great.
The only downside is that it takes like twice as much time to get your food if you order it in the dining room versus in the drive through.
Last night, I started in line on the street, and think I was In N Out in less than fifteen minutes. I noticed that the drive through line at the restaurant across the street was moving slower, in spite of being much shorter.
I always order some combination of a Neapolitan shake, an animal fry (sometimes with extra grilled onions and an extra sauce packet on the side), and/or a double double animal style extra tomato both kinds of onions.
The food here has always been exactly what you would expect from In N Out. Fresh, fast, affordable, and delicious. My order usually costs around ten dollars.
Last night, the Neapolitan shake I ordered was so Instagrammable, I wish I had taken a picture of it. The lid looked like a perfectly portioned pinwheel of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla.
I don't know of many great/consistent food options in Merced yet, but I'm never disappointed with In N Out.
