Discover the vibrant tapestry of Indian heritage at the Indian Heritage Centre in Little India, where cultural exhibits and lively events bring history to life.
Not bad an experience. There is free guided tour and the person is so knowledgeable to tell so much. Entry is free for Singaporeans and PRs. Feel free to walk around. Peaceful and not crowded at all, on a weekend.

Having recently been to the Chinese Heritage Museum in Singapore, it's interesting to compare these two. This one takes a much more "macro" global approach to the immigration of Indian people, looking at it from a broad perspective, eg, the various political, environmental & economic factors involved. It exhibits various cultural and religious artefacts along with a "Hall of Fame" wall showcasing some significant figures who made their mark here. The Chinese museum is much more gritty, "micro" looking at the working lives and living conditions of migrants coming here from China. I do prefer the approach taken by the Chinese museum. You feel you are really immersed in what life was like for such immigrants. There's no attempt to gloss over the harsh conditions of the 19th & early 20th century.

Awesome place to explore and learn about the early Indian settlers in Singapore and the role of Indians in the progress of the nation. Came during the Deepavali Carnival which was an absolute blast. Lots of activities, fun experiences like exploring Indian traditional dances, craft activities and even fortune telling with parrots.
Only gripe I have is that in the main museum and the puppet show explaining about the festival, kids and adults should be respectful and maintain order and try to be quiet. It was so noisy and made it hard to understand what people in the videos were saying. I know things can be chaotic with kids but staff should ensure that videos aimed at educating people should be located in areas with low foot traffic and enforce in some way rules about trying to keep quiet.
Aside from this it was a great experience and would recommend to anyone to explore. If possible come before the carnival ends.

Last Saturday, Sylvia Ang, known as Ang Ley Kheng, together with Angelica, visited the Indian Heritage Centre for the Pongal Tamil Harvest festival. There were stalls selling Indian costumes & Sari. Some selling jewellery. The performances showcase their heritage & culture. It was a feast for the eyes.
We enjoyed the experience. Are gladful that we came.

Indian Heritage Centre in Little India Singapore is situated on Campbell Lane just off Serangoon Road and is a "must see" to understand the Indian Heritage and its significance in the establishment of Singapore's diverse history. Allow several hours to spend wandering over four levels to really appreciate what is on offer. Be prepared to be "swamped" by large groups of school kids wanting to see as much as they can on their school excursion. And Oh! So polite just wanting to practice their English. Enjoy.👍
