The 8 Best Hot Springs Hotels in the U.S. - AFAR

"A Napa Valley thermal resort where four on-site geysers feed mineral water into an Olympic-sized main pool (dating to 1913) and a quieter adults-only pool, continuing a bathing tradition that began in the mid-19th century. The property blends wellness and wine-country leisure, offering five accommodation styles from adult-only lodge rooms to larger houses and bungalows, an on-site restaurant added in recent expansions, and classic spa rituals such as volcanic-ash mud baths followed by mineral soaks—an iconic Calistoga experience that emphasizes both relaxation and local terroir." - Michelle Baran

14 of the Best Napa Valley Hotels to Book Now - AFAR

"A family-owned Calistoga resort famed for its healing mineral spring waters, it offers two large spring-fed pools (one built in 1913 and open until 10 p.m.) and a spa specializing in mud baths, with private tubs available but communal floating in the warm main pool encouraged. The property has a range of 116 accommodations—from adults-only lodge rooms to modernized cottages—lies a short walk from downtown Calistoga, and features an on-site seasonal restaurant called Sam’s Social Club." - Matt Villano

"The best time to hit the mineral-fed pools at Indian Springs is just before closing, right around 9:30 p.m. Grab a float noodle, place it behind your neck, float on your back in the 102-degree water, and look up at the stars. No matter how cold the air might be, you will immediately relax. The Calistoga resort has been offering guests a similar experience for more than 150 years, though recent renovations have modernized the offerings and brought a new level of luxury and sophistication. The main attractions are the pools: one for all ages and another only for adults. Elsewhere on the property, an expansive spa offers massages and mud treatments; a restaurant—dubbed Sam’s Social Club—serves healthy California cuisine along with house-brewed beer. Accommodations vary widely, ranging from two-room cabins and expansive one-bedroom suites to multi-room bungalows and full-scale houses. Once you’ve had your fill of shuffleboard and bocce, walk into downtown Calistoga to shop at the local boutiques, or take the short trail to the top of the hill for a stellar view of the north end of the Napa Valley . Don’t miss: Perhaps the most spiritual part of the Indian Springs experience is the Wishing Tree in front of the spa. Write your wish on a card and tie it to the tree with the hundreds of others already there."

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Hygiene and No Response from Management I stayed at Indian Hot Springs Hotel in Calistoga from July 20–22, 2025, and had a truly disturbing experience. On the night of July 21, I found a live bud worm inside one of the bath towels provided in the room. The next morning, multiple small buds had emerged—it was absolutely unsanitary and disgusting. I immediately reported the issue to the front desk via text and also informed housekeeping in person. I even sent photos as proof. Despite the severity of the situation, management never contacted me—not during my stay, and not afterward. This kind of hygiene failure is completely unacceptable, especially for a property that promotes wellness and relaxation. It raises serious concerns about how the towels are laundered or stored. I expected at least an apology or acknowledgment, if not a partial refund. But I received no response at all, which shows a serious lack of accountability and customer service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they improve their sanitation standards and show they actually care about guest concerns. — Katherine Z.

Truly a very special place to stay. My wife and I will definitely be back and I would highly recommend to everyone considering a place to relax. The grounds, rooms and pools are all inviting and wonderful in my opinion. The pool is open until midnight and is a perfect 100 degrees for a night cap swim or float. Comfortable robes are provided and many of the guest were leisurely walking the grounds in them. This is vintage, classy, charm to me and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. May your day be blessed.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Indian Springs to celebrate his birthday. It had been about 10 years since we were there last and it has only gotten better over time (just like us!😂). We stayed in a Hill View room which was roomy, very quiet and peaceful, had a terrific shower and super comfortable bed and pillows. The main geyser-fed family pool and cooler temperature adults pool were as relaxing and enjoyable as we had remembered them, and the new (to us) Chaise Lounge poolside café made the best cocktails! Other new and fabulous additions were the Airstream café/ La Palmeraie Lounge for coffee, pastries and light snacks, and Sam’s Social Club Restaurant where we had a fantastic lunch and breakfast. There are new (to us) shaded seating areas all around the property, a short hill hike with views, and expanded spa facilities. We loved the complementary refillable water bottles and water stations available in many places!! All to say, it had everything we have always loved about Indian Springs and now is just better!! It won’t take us 10 years to come back- we are already planning our next stay!! The staff throughout the resort are super friendly and helpful. Thank you for a perfect romantic getaway!!

We cannot wait to return. That pretty much says it all. We felt that we were surrounded by beauty with the beautiful gardens, with sweeping lawns studded with palm trees. The pools are so relaxing and healing. Excellent dining at Sam's Social Club. Easy access to the shops and restaurants of Calistoga. The room was very attractive, and we slept very well. It was very rerstorative, and its a special place.

We finally stayed at Indian Springs for a couple nights with my three-year-old son. The entire family had a blast! The two bedroom cottage was perfect, and I was pleasantly surprised by the helpful kitchenette amenities (plates, glasses, cutlery, paper towel). ||||The big pool was the star of the show, but we enjoyed other parts of the property like feeding the chickens, the lawn by La Palmerie, and Sam's was great for a casual but nice meal. We'll be back!

We went for a one night getaway to experience the mud baths. It was so much more than that. The grounds and the pool were so nice that we barely left the proprty. And the mud bath was definitely an experince worth having. We followed the mud bath with a wonderful massage.

Google
What an absolute gem of a resort! Super friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, comfortable and stylish rooms, great spa services, truly a one-of-a-kind pool and beautiful property in general. We did yoga in the morning (offered daily I believe), which felt so great! Cannot recommend this place enough! We will definitely be back!

Wow! This is a fantastic destination just over an hour from San Francisco. Indian Springs has a long history as a place to relax and rejuvenate. The expansive property is beautifully landscaped with a playful and diverse layout. The property is very clean and well-maintained. ||My wife and I had a great time, but this is also a wonderful destination for families. The main pool is hard to describe adequately - it's enormous! It's been fed by the hot spring on the property for 115 years. It's expansive and kept at almost 100 degrees. The water feels amazing as well. There is also a second pool for adults. The pool is open from 6 am to midnight. There is also a spa with the world-famous mud baths. ||The property features a variety of room types. Our room was clean, modern, and perfect for the two of us. If you have any questions, as I did, call the reservation team. They are on the property and can make sure you get the perfect room.||The location is excellent. You can walk directly into downtown Calistoga. We had dinner at Sam's (on site) and were very impressed with the service and delicious food. There's a new French coffee/pastry bar on site as well (La Palmeraie). Try the egg sandwich!||This is a family-owned and operated property with a genuinely welcoming feel. Very different from the large corporate properties in the area. We will be back again soon.

Yelp
I LOVED it here. Stayed one night in 2 Queen bed room, (split cost with my friend) lunch, dinner, mineral pool & mud bath treatment. Total: $600....pricey, but what isn't these days. I thought the food was excellent.. loved the poolside Buda Bowl... quite spicy. Room was nicely done in Sonoma mission ranch style very cute. Bed was really cozy. Overall room was Very clean & spacious. I've heard the lodge rooms are quite small... there are several buildings and models to choose from though. Mud bath was my first so now I know what to expect. A bit claustrophobic for me so next time I'll keep my hands out. Attendants were sweet....& made sure you were hydrated, comfortable and cooled with forehead towel. Don't understand the low star reviews given because of being late to a treatment???? Entitled much???? The vibe of the property is relaxed, low key peaceful. I loved the retro throw back to the '40's feel. Did notice some needed repairs but nothing that ruined the eye candy. So if you're into a Ritz Carlton marble palace vibe this might not be your jam. I will most definitely be back!!!!!!!!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of enjoying an overnight stay at Indian Springs. I stayed in the lodge and the accommodations were very nice. The room was clean, updated and the bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed a deep tissue massage which was really nice. I really enjoyed sitting at the Buddha pond after my massage. My favorite part was the pool. The pool was so refreshing and I really enjoyed lounging in the water. The pool is open until 11pm so a night swim is a must! Just remember to grab your robe from the room so you are not walking back in the cold . This was my first experience at a spa resort and i truly enjoyed myself. There are so many places throughout the property to just sit and be still. This place will have you feeling rested and restored. I will certainly be back!

Yelp
Not even sure how to review! I am trying to book a room but never receive a return phone call from reservations. I have called three times! And no one ever answers the phone! If this represents their customer service it makes me wonder if I want to stay here.

Yelp
Good experience for first mudbath , the staff works like a machine , almost like we're on an assembly line so that we get the full experience in all levels . Very nice and kind staff . We enjoyed the experience of Buddha , pond, salt room , mud bath , mineral bath , facial all very nice and would come back .

Yelp
Originally going to stay in Napa, we watched a YouTube video featuring this resort and I changed my reservation. I'm so glad I did. We are still here and I really don't want to leave. The staff is soo nice and the grounds are beautiful. They are focused on wellness and there are Be Well water bottles and a small snack basket welcoming you in each room. We stayed in building 5 and we had our own balcony that overlooked the geyser! And there are also Welcome Drink tickets!!! The rooms are comfortable and where else can you walk around all day in robes (they are waiting for you in your room closet)! The pool is healing and at a wonderful temperature at 99 degrees. The pool is open until midnight, so you can avoid the kids. But the pool is massive and a lot of space to spread out. They added an airstream that serves free coffee till 10am and because it was raining one of the days, we ate in the library where there is a cozy fireplace and more free coffee and hot cocoa (Ghirardelli!) The town of Calistoga is so cute and quaint. Where else can you get a pie at the Ace Hardware! I am already looking forward to our trip back!!!!

Yelp
Massage services is good. Shower and change room facilities really need to be updated with the prices being charged. Snacks weren't replaced as fast as people eating them up. When the facilities are upgraded, then there would be a chance for a better experience and rating.

Yelp
Indian Springs was absolutely lovely. This marked my fourth visit to this location, and every time, I've been captivated by the stunning grounds. While I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, I do have a couple of suggestions that I believe would enhance the overall experience. Firstly, I strongly recommend opening the pool restaurant service area at 10 am instead of 11 am. Additionally, it would be wonderful to have a complimentary coffee station near the pool area. While there is one near the lodge, we found ourselves wanting another cup while relaxing by the pool. However, the inconvenience of having to walk back to the lodge for coffee detracted from the otherwise relaxing vibe. Even serving small bites or snacks would be a delightful addition to start the day by the pool. On another note, we experienced difficulty syncing the TV in our room with our phone. Despite reaching out to the front desk for assistance, we were unable to resolve the issue. Given the premium price of the rooms $$$, I expected everything to function seamlessly or to receive assistance to rectify any issues promptly. Unfortunately, this hindered our ability to enjoy the TV during our stay. Overall, I adore this place, but I do wish there were more complimentary offerings (by the pool area) given the premium price of the rooms. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Indian Springs and look forward to returning in the future.

Yelp
Two people from two separate parts of my life, years apart highly recommended this place to me, as I was looking for one of those full day spa places. Let me say this place was a let down! I was calling in for myself and two other people. I asked what the difference was between the salt and sugar scrubs they offered. I understand that salt and sugar are different, but that's literally what they told me! I obviously meant what difference does salt vs sugar make when used as a scrub! Then after I picked one, they tell me I can't because all their sugar/salt scrubs were booked for the day I wanted. So I book a facial, the mud bath and the goat milk and roses soak. My other two friends also got the mud baths. However, we had to stagger the times bc only two people were allowed to mud bath at one time. When we get there, they tell me that the three services i selected didn't make sense because apparently, after the mud bath, they put you in a soak anyways and you can just opt in to add the goat milk and roses. I feel like that is something they could have mentioned when I was making the appointment. Facial was nice and relaxing, which earns this place one of my stars. Pricey, compared to other spas I've been to. The mud bath was an interesting experience. They have four concrete bath tubs filled with heated mud. You take your robe off in front of the two assistants there, and they help you lie flat on the tub. Since the mud is so dense, you don't really sink down, so they scoop mud up and cover you with it, which was a little awkward because your bits are exposed. They were very professional though, so there's another star. You chill there for however long before they help you out of the bath. You then go to the open showers to wash off most of the mud before they lead you to your water bath/soak. The milk rose additives did nothing. I do not recommend. After the bath, you go into the sauna to dry off, then you go into a room that looks like a massage room, but is actually a short nap room. After that, you're all done. The facilities themselves are outdated. Floor squeak. One bathroom on the women's side -- I was instructed to use the one on the men's side, where the door lock didn't work so well. The robes were not plus size friendly. I'm a 2x. A 3x or bigger will not fit into those robes.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. My wife and I stayed here last weekend, and had an amazing time. Lodging: we stayed in a lodge room, which I believe is the standard room. It was lovely - the bed was comfy, the room clean, and we had a nice little patio to sit and read in. It was also - and this is my favorite part - SO QUIET. Aside from the other cars in the lot outside the lodge building, I would have thought we had no one staying in a room next to us. It was amazing. The grounds: awesome. They've got all kind of lawn games scattered throughout the property (shuffleboard, cornhole, badminton, etc.) There's a lot to do. The pools are awesome. Well, the family one was at least. We came to the hotel expecting to use the adult pool, since we didn't have kids for the weekend, but we opted for the family pool the entire time. The adult pool looked nice, but seemed crowded both times we went swimming. The family pool wasn't nearly as crowded as the adult one, it was nice and warm, and they had awesome floats/pool noodles to use.) It was also enormous. The property is right next to downtown Calistoga, so you can walk to restaurants (good ones) and shopping (kinda meh, better shopping is to be found in St. Helena, about 10 minutes by car.) That said, it feels totally separate from town too. Best of both worlds! Spa: again, great. I got a mudbath and a massage. Note: when they say you'll be naked for the mud bath, that means you'll be naked in front of the attendant AND other guests in the mud bath room (which I think has capacity for a total of 4 guests.). The mud rooms are separated by gender, though. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of if you're shy. The actual mud bath part of the mud bath experience was great - like resting under a big warm heated blanket. The rest (sitting in a mineral water bath, sitting in a sauna, laying down under a sheet) was kind of boring to me, but I could see it being nice if that's your thing. The massage was also good. I went for the 100 minute session with CBD. I've always assumed CBD stuff is basically snake oil, and this massage did not change my mind. I didn't notice any real difference between the cbd oil they used and any normal oils I've used. That said, the massage therapist (Audrey) was great. I prefer deep massage, and she was very good at it - very strong pressure, and some different moves to work on things like my lats, which felt great. Food: food was ok. We ate a dinner and brunch at the hotel restaurant. The food was pretty good. My only complaint was that the staff seemed overworked at dinner. It took about 10-15 minutes to get greeted by our server, and in general we felt our table of two was an afterthought. That said, the food was decent. Brunch was much better. Our server was attentive, and the food was good. I'd recommend the churros starter - they were delicious! All in all, I'd recommend this place.

Yelp
We're back again for our 12th visit!! Staying at the Lodge. There's soo many reasons why we keep coming back, here's to name a few. The rooms are ALWAYS impeccably clean(from smell to every detail clean and a spa like vibe). Staff are kind and on top of things, the entire grounds are impeccably manicured and clean everywhere you go. There are quiet, peaceful and serene spots to go and relax all over the property. We've watched the prices climb throughout the years, BUT they still are worth the price when you take in the whole experience the property has to offer. Not too many places you can go and feel soo refreshed and ready to go back to a fast paced and stressful job. Wish we could come here every 3 months, it's that awesome!! Indian Springs, THANK YOU for doing a wonderful job at making our experience soo refreshing and zen every time we are here

Yelp
We had been coming here for years, at least once a year, when our kids were young. We'd spend hours in the pool, warm up at the fire pit at night, and loved playing bocce and croquet. We were even inspired to build a bocce court at home, that's how much we loved this place. And the spa was the only one I'd use; I'm not a fan of massages and mud baths, etc. but I enjoyed the experience here. But I cannot imagine coming here with kids now; it's just obscenely expensive. Actually I can't imagine coming here just me and my wife; the value just isn't there anymore. It's a shame; we'll miss it.

Yelp
The website makes this place look promising and relaxing, but it was the total opposite. We drove up here for my friends birthday to go for a nice relaxing spa day, but unfortunately I was not satisfied with my services. The organization for booking treatments was not good at all. We called ahead of time to book each of our treatments but when we got there, we were told to cancel one of the treatments because it could just be an add on. Why weren't we told this initially? Knowing this we would have asked for different treatment times so we could all be together. The mud bath was interesting and the main treatment that brought us here. It was like laying in hot brownie mix. The staff were all great. They made sure i was properly hydrated and gave me a cooling towel while I was in the mud bath. Make sure you fully rinse after the mud bath because that's the only chance you'll get if you didn't book a hotel room. There were no showers with soap. During the napping portion - you could hear footsteps and staff and guests talking that every time I started to drift to sleep, I wondered if they were coming to wake me up. The Buddha Bond was nothing more than a big body of water with fountains and foliage. Surrounding it were a couple of lounge chairs, not all properly shaded, and a lot of piping systems in the background. Not very relaxing. We also wanted to go swimming in the pool, but was told all the passes were all booked. When we took a peek at the pool, there were only a handful of people in there wading by the side of the restaurant and it's an Olympic sized pool! I'm sure there would have been room for us. Overall, I would not recommend this place if you were going for just the day. Maybe it would have been better if we had also booked a room at the hotel. ‍

Yelp
I used to Love Indian Springs Spa.... but things have changed since Covid. First of all the prices are very expensive. All treatments are al a carte and run about $170 for a 50 minute treatment whether it's a facial or a massage. They used to include use of the hot mineral Springs pool if you purchased a treatment but now it's an additional $50 for a day pass in addition to your treatments....Crazy dumb move if you ask me. Sam's social club is on site and you can purchase cocktails and food but once again very expensive. The amenities are OK, Spa is dated, and the Buddha pond is OK if you like smelling lots of sulfur and seeing exposed piping, as well as algae all over the dank ponds. Staff is impersonal but efficient. Sadly, won't be back unless they change their pricing structure & offer some packages.

Yelp
This review is for the spa and pool only. Despite some of the bad reviews on here, I found my spa experience to be flawless (aside from picking the wrong treatment for me, which was my fault). I called and left a message on Friday hoping for a Sunday appointment and pool pass; received a call back within 30 minutes; and was booked for both quickly. The pool setting was amazing and well-worth the $50, with the adult pool being more of a standard temperature and the family pool being quite warm. After an hour, I was off to my appointment for the salt scrub. The spa itself is huge and beautiful, from the locker room to the Buddha Pond. My treator Ashleigh was thorough and professional yet personable, though the salt scrub was more abrasive than I would have like (will try sugar next time). Nataly at the spa's desk was friendly and polite. I've already told friends about how awesome this spa is. I hope to stay at the resort some time if I can snag a discount as the grounds were gorgeous. If not, I'll just have to return for a sugar scrub in winter when my skin turns dry but the pool is still hot.

Yelp
First time here and I had the best experience ever!!! My sister got me a mud bath experience and a massage after. Upon checking in, Long had the biggest smile and warmest welcome. The check in was smooth and the lobby/locker area was extremely clean. Snacks (packaged dried fruits and slices of oranges) and drinks (infused water/mango tea) was provided. Locker, robe, and slippers were provided. There are many waiting spots that allows you to relax and just embrace the ambience. Got fully undressed and robed up as I walked my way towards the mud bath. Maria directed me on how to get in the tub of hot volcano ash and mud. As I lay there, she covered the rest of my body with it. Laid there for about 15 minutes...it felt long because it got really hot. Made it a little hard to breathe. When the time was up, she helped me towards a shower to rinse off. Once I was rinsed, I was directed to a mineral bath where I was greeted with a glass of cold water and a nail pick to get the mud out. It was such a pleasant soak for about another 15 minutes. Then I headed in a small steam room for another 10-15 minutes. The last part is the wrap with cucumbers on my eyes. Fell asleep for the 10-15 minutes in the room before I was woken up to get ready for my next adventure. I was so relaxed by the time I needed to head to my massage. ROBERT!!! Oh my word. He was a miracle worker. I got the deep tissue CBD massage and he has the magic fingers. I've never had a massage where all my kinks were worked out in 50 minutes. I love the new experience of having towels under both shoulders as I lay face down. Another new experience was finding out that I have knots in my head!!!!! The best part was the hair grabbing and pulling that got those knots out...or it just felt good. I wish I could take him home with me. But it just means I have to come back for his services. (He Deserves A Raise!!!). I loved my time here and highly recommend this place and their services.

Yelp
Food at the Restaurant is very expensive and mediocre. The bread was over heated to the point you could not touch it and lost all taste. Cocktails were excellent and good service. Rooms (Lodge) small and rough in parts for the price not good value. Mud bath was great - hot pool was also really nice. Will come again to the town but not here.

Yelp
Excellent location just on the edge of town. The grounds and pool are very nice and the renovations of a few years ago have made the place larger and nicer. Calling to make a reservation can be challenging - leaving a message is no guarantee that you will get called back and on average I have been able to reach a live person about 25% of the time. However nice the resort is, their fee structure has gone up substantially over the years and be ready to spend close to $1,000/night all inclusive. Given that, we have shifted to flying to Italy where hot spring resorts just west of Padova will cost subtantially less and you're in Italy! Venice is 40mns away by train, museums, old churches, architecture, culture, wonderful food.... We like Calistoga and Indian Springs but there is no comparison airfare included.

Yelp
Calistoga, Ca. I enjoyed my stay here. The people who work here are all exceptionally friendly and welcoming, even the maintenance staff! My favorite feature was the huge Olympic sized soaking pool. It's really nice to relax in it at night and let your aches and pains subside. The smaller and cooler pool smelled of chlorine so we retreated right back to the large pool. Towels are provided poolside so you don't have to bring a room towel. The massive sized bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Limited choice of pillows here, if you're fussy, bring your own. The large shower was very nice. I must say that I didn't care for the three fire pits that waste fuel when set on high 24 hours a day. Hey, put in a simple button to light when in use. The restaurant on the grounds (Sam's Club) was exceptional. Easy walk to town and a labyrinth is provided if you need even more walking. The spring water they provide here is very good. Lastly, the cookies and popcorn in the room are complimentary as well as containers for the spring water. The geyser view is not that. Just pumped water from an algae filled pond. I would have liked a tour of the actual hot springs geyser and how they harness it for the pool and generation of electricity (If they do that). The complimentary drink at the Airstream trailer is a joke. White Sangria? Come on, this is Wine Country! Step it up!

Yelp
This is a beautiful piece of Americana. The grounds remind me of the type of resort one would have seen in the 1950's Catskills era. They have an amazing restaurant. Talk about farm to table. This is how it is done. I had the stuffed Poblano pepper while my wife had the chicken with corn succotash. The food and beverages were amazing. If you are looking for a quaint, quiet, and throw back to the mid 1950's. This is your spot. The pool is gorgeous.

Maria Carmella L.

Yelp
I have come here for many years - as things go it has changed. Great mineral pool and the reason I come, spa services are very nice with a great staff. Accommodations - I enjoy the cottages and have never stayed at the Lodge. Like the cottages best as they are closest to pool and spa. Relaxing stay every time!

Paul P.

Yelp
Spent 4 days there in October 2024 in one of their bungalows. The bungalow was nice inside: 2 bedrooms one with king bed one with 2 double beds, 2 bathrooms, flat wear and plates for eating, coffee maker with all the needed teas and coffee, 3 TVs (one in the living room, 1 in each bedroom). The only problem is the windows were worn out and would not lock, so beware of valuables. There are 2 pools, one adults only and one for all. They heat the pools with geyser water (geothermal heating); however, they say the pools are 91 to 101 degrees F. The adult pool was at 91 and much too cool to use. The bigger pool was about 101 but for me still not warm enough. I like 103 to 104 degrees F. There is one restaurant at $50 per person for food, add more for alcohol. I will not be going back.

Yelp
Beautiful and spacious grounds. Private places to sit all over, fire pits at night are wonderful. Both pools are nice, family pool is quite warm with noodles and mats to lounge in the pool. Small restaurant between the 2 pools to get salads, sandwiches, etc., poolside. Spa services amazing, only wish my husband and I could have gotten treatments together. Room was a Geyser View which was so soothing to be able to sit outside and read. Sam's Social has great food but service was a little slow which wasn't awful since we were so relaxed. It is on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. We felt like we were in our own private oasis, serene and calming. Buddha Pond was fantastic after spa treatments. All in all, an absolutely wonderful way to spend our anniversary and who doesn't love walking around in public with their bathrobes on! We will be returning! Also, all the staff were friendly and cheerful!

Yelp
Celebrated my 60th birthday at Indian Springs. We reserved the Alley way for a party but due to the heat they upgraded us to The Barn. It was wonderful. Service and food was amazing! All guests were happy and hope to go back!

Yelp
This is our go to in Calistoga, it's all about the hidden gem - the pool. The pool is amazing 100+ deg., great during the winter, we usually go in February. Massage was really good, the Spa does need better management (requested female masseuse, gave me a male - oh well pretend I am in a locker room getting a sport massage). Really great apps at the pool snack bar, deviled eggs with shaved truffle, crostini with burrata cheese and honey, spiced nuts - all really good. Rooms are nice, grounds are really cool. The could spend a little more money fixing up the Buddha pond in the spa. Hostess was really super cool, room was ready and we were in at 2:00. We will come back every year.

Yelp
CONSIDER NO OTHER HOT SPRING resorts in the area! I just love love love Indian Springs!!!! Makes for the perfect getaway -- their hot spring water pool is definitely the highlight. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable, coupled with well appointed, comfy, clean and beautiful guest rooms and a nice on-site restaurant... every time I come, I just don't want to leave this place!!!

Yelp
I was disappointed with our hotel stay here - I had done a lit of research and this seemed to be the place to go to experience thermal waters - and it was. With that said, the room in the "lodge" area (furthest from the pool) was $500. The room itself was simple nice and clean, nothing crazy. I wasnt really understanding why people would pay more for rooms in this (old) hotel but its all about location to the pool. When i made the reservation they said the room was smaller but no, its about location!! (I mean maybe its smaller too). Either way, it was a treck to get to the pool. I had to call to get the internet in the rooms but when I did it worked. The pool was olympic size and amazing. The water was hot and lovely. With that said, the "life guard" was cleaning and folding towels in the dark of the night and never really paying attention to the pool. My big disappointment was the geyzer. While it was pretty to look at from the pool, it was not a gyzer - it was probably man made and it was all fenced in. They did have some fire pits in the courtyard but they should have had them near the pool because on a November evening.. let me tell you.. its freezing!! And the walk back to your room is a nightmare. Here is what i hated: they give you two free drinks .. lets say you check in at 7pm well guess what the restaurant near the pool Closes at 6pm (it looks gross and outdated by the way and im sure its just a snack place), the airstream closes at 1pm .. so you can choose to go to the restaurant that closes at 9 pm and had $45 entrees.. plus to me it looked outdated and not worth it. So already the "restaurant " options were bad. Then you look at uber eats and there is only one restaurant open until 9pm that serves terrible food and you might as well go get it because the uber drivers dont come from town and take a million years to deliver. All this to say.. if you are going to have a hotel that charges $500 minimum for rooms and is in a small town and you are going to have a pool open until midnight you should extend your restaurant hours or at least have a modern snack looking place near the pool. Poor management. Now... in the morning, at 9 am... we got woken up by crazy leaf blower machines that would NOT stop for 45 minutes. I felt like taking a hammer and hitting the machine. I called the front desk to complain and they said it was normal because they start at 9 am... they offered a few dollars at the airstream but honestly i would rather have had my beauty sleep. My impression of this place was that while it may have been a lovely hotel at some point and while the grounds are large and nice, and the thermal pool is great, its totally not worth the money spent. A big disappointment.

Yelp
I too, as everyone else in these comments, have been coming to this spa for quite some time now. So much so that we were gifted some gift certificates from our wedding back in 2022. We had a bunch of money to use so we figured, why not! Well, for two people we ended up spending $2,000.00+ Two treatments each, and pool passes. THAT'S IT. It used to be, you could get a free pool pass with a treatment. But now, of course, you must pay for the pool experience, $50 at that. This place is great but for the prices that we pay it could be better. The women's changing area is a bit outdated. There are no showers other than the ones at the pool. When we traveled her for our day trip, we hit a bit of traffic that made us about 5 minutes late, I tried to call the front desk INCESSANTLY but there was no answer. I left a message hoping they would listen. I got a call, three minutes past our arrival date asking where we were and if we weren't there soon they would have to cancel us as their schedule was full for the day. We were so irritated. Anyways, this place is great but the prices are actually outrageous. It would be nice to see them lowered to make more sense with the services and the locker room areas. See ya later, maybe.

Yelp
Had the most magical stay at Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga celebrating my Milestone 40th birthday with 7 girlfriends from multiple states and Canada who flew in for the weekend! As a former Bay Area girl who now lives in Hawaii, I love Napa Valley and wanted a quintessential 40th birthday weekend in Calistoga famous for wine tasting, spas, and mud baths. I researched girls trip friendly Napa resorts for months and ultimately settled with Indian Springs because of its proximity to Northern Napa wineries, walkable and biking distance to downtown Calistoga restaurants and wine bars, the historic spa, and most importantly the hot springs pool open til midnight! During the daytime my girlfriends and I cooled down at the adult pool. Not only did my girlfriends and I have the most relaxing stay utilizing the spa and hot spring pools. Indian Springs hosts Sam's Social Club, one of the best restaurants in Napa where we had brunch and dinner. The historic resort is absolutely beautiful. And a bonus: every resort employee that I spoke to whether it was the front desk, customer service line, or wait staff at Sam's Social Club and the pool bar was so friendly and hospitable. Tip: If you stay in the Mission rooms, ask for a room in building 4 or 5 that overlooks the geyser. Other Mission rooms overlook palm trees. My only complaint was that housekeeping was not offered daily. You have to call the front desk to request change of linens and for your room to be cleaned. This seems to be an industry wide issue post COVID however, where hotels squeeze their resources after mass furloughs and layoffs. So I don't think it's only an Indian Springs thing. I am so grateful to have rang in 40 with my closest girlfriends who flew in from all over the country at Indian Springs Calistoga! Most of the negative reviews here seem to be spa guests, but not guests who stayed at the resort. I had an amazing stay at Indian Springs and wanted to share my positive experience with Yelpers! If you're planning a romantic trip, wedding, girls trips, or family vacation, Indian Springs Calistoga is your place.

Yelp
I've always loved this place but the prices have gone up a lot since they added so many hotel rooms and upgraded the spa facilities. They're now charging spa customers $50 to use the pool after the spa treatments when it used to be included so that's kind of a bummer. It's still a very enjoyable experience, though.

Yelp
Some of the worst customer service and policies I have ever experienced. Tried to book a spa day for my birthday. Called months in advance. They almost never answer. When they finally did after about 100 times calling, they told me they couldn't book until 2 weeks before if you aren't staying at the hotel. She told me to call back early . I called back the second they opened over and over. Finally, an hour later the girl picks up and tells me very rudely that all the pool passes are sold out. I can see why this place has terrible reviews. There are other places in Calistoga with much better service.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to our stay here, we visit Napa often and thought Indian Springs would be a nice experience. Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the unwelcome and unaccommodating attitude from staff and hotel management. We arrived at 3:02 for a 3:00 mud bath and the spa said they would be shortening our mud bath from 10 minutes to 5 minutes. We asked to reschedule or cancel, and were told sorry no refunds and the longer we sat there speaking with them they were going to cut the mud bath down to less than 5 minutes, so we better hurry up and get changed. So we were rushed through and overall felt very uncomfortable. Only saw 2-3 other people in the spa and 2 of the 4 mud baths weren't being used. Don't bother sharing constructive feedback with management, they will brush you off and treat you with disrespect. We also had breakfast at Sam's club at the property. After eating and paying our $100 tab, we were finishing drinking our coffees when staff told us we needed to leave so they could have the table. Rooms were average and outdated, nothing special. Stay down the street at Doc Wilkinsons, highly recommend!

Yelp
Outstanding resort. The people, the room, the food (Sam's Social Club), and the proximity to town and wineries were all amazing. One night we had an issue with the AC, and within 30 minutes of my comment we had a completely replaced AC unit in our room. This is our "go to" place in Calistoga. A must stay even with the price.

Yelp
Do NOT come here for a prenatal massage. After 10 minutes of trying to communicate to the therapist, I felt I had to end the massage. She is clearly untrained in this form of therapy. Upon checking out, I was informed that KEN VALENCIA, the manager would be charging me in full for this massage. The facility is ancient with old rusty pipes exposed during your milk/geyser soaks. Overall not worth the trip. The food is at best mediocre.

Yelp
Visitors please be very careful when walking on the stairs leading to the mineral pools! They are bare concrete with no anti-slip treads. There are handrails on these stairs, but they are low and awkwardly positioned depending on your height. Likewise, please be careful on the wooden pedestrian walkway next to the Buddha Pond. This walkway is very slippery, has no handrails and again, no anti-slip treads. Most of the guests are wearing sandals or flip flops, but I would recommend wearing shoes with more tread. My partner was coming down the stairs from the pools when he slipped and fell very hard onto his back and hip, leaving him with a 6 inch bruise across his low back. Luckily he is relatively young and strong and was able to walk normally again after a couple of days of rest, but what would've happened to someone who's not as physically fit? I went to the front desk to warn them about the slippery stairs. I talked to a young woman who said she was a supervisor. She gave me a couple of ice packs, told me I could get CBD cream at the spa and then said that "they are unprepared for this kind of weather," referring to the rain. (It had rained the night before my partner slipped and fell.) If you know that you're unprepared, why not do something immediately to prevent a serious injury? It rains in California, and regardless of the weather, the walkways are going to be wet because it's a hot springs resort. Based on the reaction of this supervisor, I think it's highly unlikely that the management is going to address this serious safety concern, but I'm posting this in the hopes that it'll prevent another accident. Indian Springs, please do a better job of keeping your guests safe! Don't wait for someone to get a serious injury like a hip fracture, a concussion or a broken neck. There are effective and inexpensive ways to slip proof your walkways that you could implement immediately, such as anti-slip stair treads and anti-slip grip tape that you could buy easily from your local hardware store. If you choose to do nothing to keep your guests safe, all of these preventable injuries are on you.

Yelp
Usually we stay at Calistoga spa and they were fully booked so we want to try this place instead of. However, the expectation is not what we would expect for it. Service is not great , we were staying at the building 4 and it's hella far from the pool . We have to walk in dark and rain with the unbroken umbrella. People upstairs making so much noise when they walk down and the cars are so loud in the morning. For 800$ a night I hope they do better job in providing good services. Old TV and no microwave in the room sadly. The pool looks so wet outside and dirty . They don't provide flip-flop. When we checked out the receptionist didn't even care to ask how we enjoy the room or not. She just asked "oh you like your recipe print out or email." That's it . Very disappointed and never come here again. I rather to spend money somewhere else and they will lose more customers if they don't improve it.

Yelp
We had a great stay at Indian Springs. Beautiful property, great food, and the springs were so so relaxing. We loved how walkable Calistoga was and the bikes available across the property. We especially appreciated all the healthy food options available at the restaurant and pool lounge. 4 stars because when we arrived the pool was luke warm and not at its usual temperature. They didn't mention the pool wasn't fully operational in any email or at check in. Us and a few other guests only found out about it after going to the lukewarm pool and hearing others talk about how it wasn't functioning. The front desk told us it was because the pipes had filled with minerals which was "a complete surprise" even though they have a sign in front of the geyser that says "we have to swap the pipes every 6 months because of the minerals". Not the guests problem that whoever's responsibility it was to set a reminder to get the pipes swapped didn't. We understand issues arise, but ultimately the hotel owners should be more transparent and let guests know as us and others felt a bit taken advantage of that it wasn't mentioned at all when that is the major draw of staying there.

Yelp
I called the spa yesterday to get availability on some massage times for 2 days out. I called them back less than 2 hours from the initial time I spoke with them and was not able to get a hold of anyone. I tried calling again all day long and wasn't able to reach anyone at the front desk or the spa. I finally left a message but never received a call back. I called the following day to speak with the operator in the morning who mentioned they would hand deliver a note to the spa letting them know my request and to give me a call. Near the end of the day they still had not returned my call so I called and was finally able to get through to the spa only to find out that those slots have already been booked. Very frustrating, disappointing, and very poor customer service.

Yelp
Patricia is the manager at the spa and because of her probably one of the most amazing customer service experiences we have ever had! My husband and I booked a mud bath treatment. First time at the resort and Calistoga. We walked in and met Patricia who explained the whole process to us and afterwards, left us a welcome gift and card to thank us for coming in! We left detoxed, hearts full, soft skin, and totally relaxed! We are excited to say we will be coming back, with our family in tow! Thank you Patricia for going above and beyond

Yelp
For $800 a night in low seasons you'd expect peace and quiet, at least in the room, and the staff to care. Sadly not the case at Indian Springs. The location is great but the experience ends there. Rooms are noisy, like being in a very cheap old apartment. Don't bother paying extra for the geyser view, it doesn't really have one, bring your own flip flops, they don't provide them or slippers and make sure you bring your own tablet if you want to watch a movie, the TVs are old and aren't smart, umbrellas broken. Staff don't seem to care about the guests, all very stand-off and have no interest in making it a good experience. All in all would be ok, but not great, at $200 a night but there is no way it is worth what they charge. Don't be fooled by the fancy entrance and website.

Yelp
I had a very problematic 4 night stay a couple of months ago. I notice my review has been removed. This makes me not trust YELP reviews AND Indian Springs management. Here is a brief description of my problems: when I checked in I was directed to the WRONG building and WRONG room. I called the front office and requested that someone come apologize to the person I disturbed, carry my bags downstairs & to the correct building and room. The person who arrived was apologetic and helpful. The next day I went out to lunch and when I came back my key did not work. I called the front desk and they said they would bring me another key, saying I had deactivated my key. Nope! The new key operated by the hotel staff did not work. Apparently they checked me out of my room after only one night of my four night stay! And with all my belongings in my room! The hotel staff had to go back to the office to get me new keys to match the new lock programming! The next day my room was cleaned with bleach. The room smelled so strong and bleach is the one thing I'm very allergic to! They also took the robes that fit me and left ones that did not fit. Ugh!! They wanted to move me to a different room. I aired my room and had them wipe it down with wet cloths and bring the correct size robes. By this time they should have bent over backwards for me due to the daily hassles. A manager should have come and apologized to me personally and comped me my last night stay. Instead they gave me a credit at the on site restaurant and when I didn't use 100% of the credit they pulled that money back off my bill!!! So I had to argue with them at checkout too! Each day in my "relaxing vacation" included hassles. So disappointed! If this review is removed I will report you to YELP!

Yelp
DO NOT STAY AT THE CALISTOGA INDIAN SPRINGS SPA AND RESORT AS YOUR SECURITY AND PRIVACY IS NOT A CONCERN FOR THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I am just returned today (12/5/2023) from Calistoga Indian Springs Resort and Spa. The mud bath and facial were great, however the property management does not care about the people who stay there. Last night about 8:30pm while I was in bed from a long day of spa treatments and a very nice dinner, I heard a heavy pounding on the room to my door and then the door opened!!!!! I didn't get a chance to go to the door or make any comment. Then the door closed and by that time I was at the door and opened the door (probably not my best move) and there was a man asking if the water was hot in my room. I told him that it was and closed the door. By the way, there are NO dead bolt locks on the doors to my room. I will be purchasing a traveling lock to take with me in the future. I immediately called the front desk and told them what happened and was told that there was a problem in my building with no hot water and it was a maintenance person. I told the front desk person I had not called about a water issue and was completely unnerved that what little security the doors to my room had I was very upset. She offered to move me to another room but I told her if this person could get into my existing room what would stop him from coming in to any other room I was in? She agreed. I really wanted to leave but I was at least 2 hours away from home and was very tired from the day. The front desk person said there would be accommodations made and apologized. I ended up pulling furniture in front of the doors (there are 2 doors to the room) and leaving a light on all night. This morning when my group was checking out, the manager didn't/wouldn't/couldn't grasp the seriousness of this situation. One of my friends was 2 doors away from me and no one knocked on her door. The manager/director, Christopher Lee, couldn't be more obtuse in his reaction. He did take off one of my spa services but he was just oblivious to creating a space where one can relax, feel safe and have privacy maintained in this environment. DO NOT STAY AT THE CALISTOGA INDIAN SPRINGS SPA AND RESORT AS YOUR SECURITY AND PRIVACY IS NOT A CONCERN FOR THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

Yelp
We come here several times a year for a spa treatment and hot springs soak as a family with young adults - everyone is happy! the Hydrafacial and teen facial are very well done. Amanda is just amazing!

Yelp
This is a wonderful, relaxing place to spend a couple of days away from the hustle & bustle. Celebrating our sisters birthday with mom, we were so lucky to snag adjoining rooms fronting the Buddha's Pond where the lush landscaping feels tropical-palms and birdsong everywhere. Really great gardens! Michael at the concierge made our trip extra special with advice about bike trails, sourcing a vase for birthday flowers and just being his helpful, genuine, welcoming self. In a world of cold corporate properties, it is heartening to discover this beautiful family friendly resort with old school vibes and tasteful modern amenities. Pasta at Sam's arrived lukewarm, once heated, it was delicious. (lamb meatballs were interesting). Bruschetta consisted of small hard toasts next to a mound of whipped Burrata with a smear of tomato essence, not what we had in mind. Grilled octopus appetizer generous. Prawn ceviche was okay, lots of marinade. Caesar salad in wedges, prefer tossed. Beet & burrata salad nice if you like sweet dressings. We were happy that the pork chop was not ordered after all, and with a couple of lovely glasses of wine under our belt, we walked to the ice cream shop in town finishing off our meal nicely. Yoga included if you can get up and be there at nine, we did, and it was lovely and put us in the mood to relax. The large pool is warm, very warm. There is an adult pool that is slightly more refreshing if you are lucky enough to get a sunny day, we did! Apparently there used to be a sauna fueled by the geyser, but it was gone, we are a family of heat lovers so would've totally dug that!

Yelp
I've been coming here almost every year and it's my go to place for Spas in the area. But ever since Covid has happened they closed the Spas to anyone that isn't staying at the hotel. Which is quite upsetting. I understand there's limits but we are locals and we should have every right to be able to go to our local Spas. Overall I like coming and really hope to continue to come back. The pool is my favorite because it has the mineral water. Sure there's other places that has that too but I always love the bright atmosphere. I always get a facial and mud bath. Side note: can we please open to the locals? Maybe have a day or 2 that's only for locals to come in. Everything can be controllable.

Emily W.

Yelp
Unfortunately I would give Indian Springs Resort a zero if I could. The resort was fine until a maintenance man entered our room at 9 pm. He entered without permission or a request to come. When we brought the issue to the hotel managers none of them apologized and each of them excused the behavior. Christopher Lee, the director we spoke with, said that they were having hot water issues and were checking all of the rooms in the lodge to confirm there were no issues. We had another room 2 doors down in the lodge and the guests in that room did not see or hear from the maintenance man. So why I ask 1) are you checking at 9 pm? And 2) did the maintenance man not know there was a guest in that room? And 3) if even I believe the excuse Christopher Lee spread, why wasn't our other room disturbed? The hotel is responsible for providing a relaxing, private and safe facility. Unfortunately, we felt the need to move furniture in front of the doors and sleep, if you can call what we got sleep, with the lights on. Yes we would have left immediately since we did not feel safe, but after imbibing at Sam's driving was not an option. It would have been nice for the hotel management to address the seriousness of the concerns. We had our small child at the resort as well and for all we know the hotel has a predator on their staff. Do not stay here!

Johnny T.

Yelp
Extremely expensive, killed three cockroaches in the room, no free breakfast, free coffee tastes like rotted herbal medicine from a third world country, broken window, and probably the worst bed I have ever slept on. The restaurant is pretty good but very overpriced.
