We visited Indian Tiffin after graduation. The atmosphere was nice. The food was average and could use more flavor, but the mocktails were delicious and refreshing. Hoping for a better food experience next time. Paani colada was superb. 👌

Loved this place for two main reasons: 1) the food and drinks were delicious! We had a variety of starters and mains to share as a small group, and we were very happy with everything. I particularly liked the Imli Margarita. It was a nice twist on a classic margarita. 2) the staff were great! They were so helpful while we were there. But what was even more amazing was how helpful they were when I left my purse there on accident. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant and I didn't realize I had left my purse until they had already closed. But they had tried to contact the person in my party who made the reservation and they locked my purse away overnight. I was understandably a bit stressed and extremely relieved that they still had it the following day and had taken such good care of it. Their honesty and kindness was massively appreciated! Thanks so much Indian Tiffin Room for great food and amazing, kind staff 😍

I recently visited Indian Tiffin Room and tried their Madurai Masala Dosa, Mysore coffee, and lassi. In terms of price and quality, everything was excellent. I especially want to highlight the Madurai Masala Dosa and lassi both were top-notch and full of authentic flavor. However, the Mysore coffee was a bit of a disappointment and didn’t quite meet expectations. That said, the FOH service was outstanding. The staff were warm and welcoming from start to finish, checking in during the meal to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Their hospitality really stood out. The seating was decent, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I’ll definitely be returning to try more dishes on the menu!

Went to ITR for a birthday meal & it didn’t disappoint. Food was excellent and good service too (catered well for two toddlers in our group).

When we first came we were hesitant with a north, south and indo-Chinese menu, there were so many options we didn’t know what to order. However, the biryani and all the stuff I tried were delicious. The cocktails were also solid. On and off, excellent option if you feel like an Indian food.

Really really great place for Indian food in Manchester. I’ve been here multiple times and tried a variety of things - Masala Dosé, Sev Puri, Schezwan Momos, Chole Bhature, Dal Makhani, Garlic Naan, Medu Vada, Lemonade etc. All the dishes have always been top notch, great taste. The right amount of spice level. The staff are also very nice and at a good location. The ambience is very Indian and nice. It was also decorated very well for Valentine’s Day and I had a good time celebrating Galentines. Must visit for a good Indian meal for a reasonable price.

Google
Great ambience, beautiful decor, amazingly friendly staff and a great street food experience if you enjoy Indian food. We really loved all our courses, it is a bit spicy so do inform them if you struggle with it. We got Chana Chaat, vada pav, drinks with main course + dessert and everything was lush. Reasonably priced for Manchester; will visit again.

Google
The chicken biryani taste authentic and is a bit spicy so I dip with the yogurt. The dosa is huge but the potatoes were not fully distributed in the dosa. Samosa is normal.

Yelp

Yelp
Food was nice and delicious. But the staff wasn't very friendly. Seemed like everyone was in some rush, pushing to finish the food and leaving. Headed over the bill just in the middle of out tea. Wasn't welcoming at all. That's a shame because food was delicious!

Yelp
So many open tables but we were not accommodated without a reservation. Poor service. Will not attempt or recommend again because of this.

Yelp
Scrapped dinner plans and came here off of recommendations. Couldn't tell you how the food is as we were turned away and told the next table would be at 9:00pm. She didn't quote a "45 min" or "60 min" wait but instead a scripted time. Didn't even look around to see if we could be accommodated. I counted at least 6-7 open tables, some two tops and some four tops, and space at the bar. I won't ever try to come back again. There are better Indian restaurants in Manchester that accommodate walk-ins.

Yelp
For those who haven't dined at ITR's backstreet restaurant in Cheadle, this is a very different dining atmosphere, as the former is pretty small and elbow-room-only when you eat! Their second restaurant on the First Street development opposite HOME is vast in comparison, with a high ceiling, spacious seating and crazy-colourful neon lighting and artworks. Our group ordered a decent range of starters to share between us and they just kept on coming; pretty much every one hit the spot. I'd been recommended by a friend to order the Gobi Manchurian (wok-fried cauliflower) and it was gorgeous - and this is from someone who ordinarily dislikes cauliflower. Make sure you order the Butter Chicken for a main course; it's stupendous with a few roti to scoop up the chunks of meat in and soak up as much sauce as you can. It was a hearty and tasty sensation. So why not five stars? I think it's probably down to its cavernous interior and location - all polished glass and steel (you could be on the outskirts of Spinningfields). I missed the cosy charm that their Cheadle restaurant has; it seemed closer to how I'd imagine you'd have dinner out on the town in India (I'm probably misinformed, but it felt closer to street food than First Street ultimately did). The food is by far the best draw though, and city dwellers getting the opportunity to experience ITR's cooking is definitely no bad thing.

Yelp
TL;DR - One of the better curries you'll find in Manchester. We came here for lunch on a cold and rainy day whilst waiting to watch a film at nearby HOME. We'd read good reviews about the place in advance, and weren't disappointed. Note that there's a lunch and a dinner menu in the window, but when we entered on a Saturday lunchtime they were just offering the dinner menu. Not that this was a problem! The menu offers a choice of multiple small tiffin dishes, but we went for the more traditional option and had a full curry (there are a couple of biryani options, plus a few other things). I went for the ITR chicken (house chicken curry), Sparky went for the ITR lamb. Note that despite the similar names, these were very different dishes - not just a case of a single sauce being poured over different meats! Currys come with a choice of bread or rice; we went for the bread and were impressed with the big, freshly baked bread we got. The curry portions looked small when we first got them, but actually were surprisingly filling and we felt we got decent value for money. The curries themselves were both absolutely delicious - definitely better than we've had in places like Akbar's. Service was polite, and most exciting of all they had Kingfisher beer on tap! Definitely worth a stop for curry lovers!

Yelp
Enjoyed my first trip and I would definitely eat here again if going to something at HOME. Bf and I arrived early to our group meal and sat at the bar with some very friendly bartenders who were keen to tell us more about the drinks and make recommendations. The cocktail menu is very good with an Indian twist on the drinks making for some really unique combos. We tried one that was served in a upside down giant lightbulb and combined mango with gingerbread and honey, plus a load of vodka! Another slightly more 'classic' also had a ginger twist and the elderflower one was apparently nice too. Well worth a go. I thought the chilli squid was just ok and would not get it again, in fact I would probably skip the starters column altogether and head to the dosa/mains section. On recommendations from other yelpers I tried the channa batura which was new to me and I really enjoyed the subtle yet complex flavour of the chickpea, and the palak paneer which was really outstanding - a sumptuous dish which I cannot wait to eat again. Service for our group of 10 was good and the atmosphere had a nice buzz with not too loud music.

Yelp
If you believe as I believe being Indian, vegetarian, great taste buds, big appetite is a blessing in life! Especially if the girlfriend always confirms at the end of the trip to a restaurant, food was great and points out the problem being my over eating!!There was a reputation to maintain..... The problem this time clearly was the food!! No doubt it's the tastiest authentic Indian in the town( Asha's, may be!!) but if I felt full after sharing a dosa!! There has to be only 2 problems!! Either I should have not been hungry or there was something in the dosa like too much baking powder or something!! The whole world will agree I am always hungry! So trust me and don't eat the dosa!! Channa batura was awesome!! Very authentic taste!! That would alone get a 4 star but the dosa let you down 2 stars and at least another 20£ I would have spent eating!! Then there is always the Indian in me saying it's far expensive for street food!!

Yelp
When the girls from school want to meet up for their quarterly get together early because they are both pregnant and one of them is about to drop, and said girl wants a curry on the hottest day of the year, you don't argue, you just go. When the other pregnant friend spends half her life in Home, and she suggests Tiffin Room because she wants to try it, the two things go together quite well. (Overlooks potential girls making most of pregnancy and possible coaxing of gay men). Anyhoo, we booked in for a late afternoon table and was presented by a very pleasant member of the team who was understanding of the need for a table with cool air due to pregnancies. Our waiter was very informative over the options and explained how the menu works, and we proceeded with trying to choose from the vast array of choices. We weren't disappointed. The starters come as they are finished in the kitchen (think street food and not high end table service). The fish kebabs were absolutely amazing and I could eat masses of them. Unbelievably nice. The lollipops were also very tasty and we were all very happy with starters. For mains, we had two lots of butter chicken, one ITR chicken and a slow cooked lamb dish with rice and naans. The waiter was keen to push to butter chicken when asking for his recommendation, but we didn't want to go with four of the same dish, and I'm glad I went for the lamb because it was incredible. As one who eats with his eyes, I often get full from just looking at large portions, but I was pleased that the portions were of a normal size and a size that filled us all comfortably. So overall a very good meal and a relaxed and unrushed venue, and it's clear that booking is probably needed as it was full on a Sunday early evening, which is great to see. For four adults, two courses each with a number of soft drinks came to £91. Overall very good and will definitely go back!

Yelp
If you are searching for authentic tasting Indian food in Manchester, then here is the spot to visit. I was very impressed with the food here when I visited in February, and such a fantastic variety on the menu. One can really select a good range of delicious food to sample. My visit was a mix of friends and colleagues, and we all had a craving for good Indian food, and all left completely satisfied. To be honest, as a group, we tried a whole range of food from the menu, such as, Bheli Puri, Masala Dosa, Dosa, Chilli Squid (my favourite), and I had Lamb Kashmiri for a main, which is described as having "intense flabours" and oh my, it was flavourfully intense! The Kashmiri had the perfect level of spiciness to complement the taste. Superb! The venue is quite open with tall glass windows, and matches the decor of the environment and resides at the perfect location, situated at HOME, which is continually growing in popularity. The beer selection was limited, but one of the beers (Kingfisher) was a nice crisp lager, which went very well with the food. I look forward to returning and sampling more of the menu, if not that Chilli Squid, once again!

Yelp
I was super impressed with this new branch of ITR having ventured to their much smaller Cheadle location numerous times. Basically it's a new prime location right next door to HOME and if walking past peeps aren't enticed by the menu or general awesome smells exiting from it then there's something wrong with them! Perfect for any occasion, you've got all sorts of small plates and dosa's mixed with main courses, breads and rice. Standouts were: *Awesome paneer starters *Chili squid was damn good *Bhel Puri also fantastic *Very tasty Saag Paneer main - ask them to add some extra kick to it and they'll happily oblige. Beer selections a bit limited but apart from that I'm impressed with what they've done here!

Yelp
Authentic Indian food. First time I came here was for dinner. One thing I notice is that their dinner portions are big compared to lunch. Both very filling, delicious and not too pricy for their location. Staff is super friendly and the place is spotless. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
The decoration in this place is definitely worth noting. It's colorful and vibrant and the room is light and airy. The restaurant prides itself on its Indian Asian street food style menu. We had a selection of dishes to start and they all had great flavours without being too greasy. They included...paneer, goat keema, samosa, bhel puri and lots more I went for the Kashmiri lamb for mains and would wholeheartedly recommend it. The lamb was tender and cooked in an amazingly moreish sauce that I could have eaten all day long. There was a berry mocktail that I can still taste but was a tad expensive. The one complaint I had was that they forgot my main and it was brought out a whole 10/15 minutes after everybody else had started eating and the staff barely acknowledged the fact.

Yelp
As a Cheadle native now living in Manchester, I have heard from every family member and friend just now good ITR in Cheadle is. 'YOU HAVE TO GO!' So, as soon as I heard they had opened a second venue on First St I booked straight in. I was not disappointed one bit! Greeted by lovely, attentive servers who gave great advice about the menu we were seated right by the open kitchen (oh, the smells!!) We had 4 starters to share between us - the white bait was the clear winner but the dumplings and beetroot kebabs were amazing as well! We'd also had some really nice wine and foreign beers, so at this point I was pretty excited for the mains. They took a while to arrive but to me this is always a good sign that some care is going in to it! I had a the lamb curry with rice and it was absolutely amazing - huge, huge chunks of meat and the sauce was so creamy: the rice was so light and fluffy too - no rice bloat post-dinner at all! The place was rammed and rightly so - definitely get in, I'll certainly be back to try everything else on the menu!

Yelp
One of the very few places that serve Authentic indian food. Not too spicy or oily. One of my favourite. Only drawback: service is very slow

Yelp
I Have to agree with hugo on this one the food lacked flavour very bland on the starters mains was ok nothing to scream home about food came on useless small trays no plates! unhelpful staff, when asked why every one didnt get the starters altogether ? i was told: "you will get it when its ready! when he could of said " i will go and check. not good as people dont want to be eating before others. and its not as thought the place was full or anything, only a couple of tables. On the plus side you can see the food being made I Had very high hopes of this place but wether i will give it another try am not sure!

Yelp
I have had better food, I just felt the food lacked the complex flavours I feel that good spicing can give. I think the staff were alright although not really able to help when asked questions. I won't be back here unless all other options are full. I was really just no very interested even though the menu seemed good.

Yelp
Delicious food and great atmosphere but my partner left hungry. The portions sizes were too small for what we paid. If we had ordered one more dish we would've been okay but our bill was expensive as it was. Cocktails were also great and staff very friendly and attentive!

Salman A.

Yelp
Was headed to buy some bread and decided why not try their food. The service was quick, 30 minutes from walking in we had already finished our mains. The food tastes very good, most authentic Indian food I've ever tasted in Manchester. I've had much better Indian food, but Not in Manchester. The servers were nice and checked up on everyone to make sure their food was alright. Prices are not high. Although I do feel like their portion size was a little bit smaller than I would've liked, I still couldn't finish all my food. Overall a really nice restaurant, with good quality food. Shame they don't do delivery or take-away, maybe in the future :)

Yelp
Wow. What a place! If you like Indian food but dislike artificial flavours and big curries, this is the place for you. Indian Tiffin Room provides amazing bites of street food which are packed with big bold flavours. While the main courses are very tasty, I'd recommend sharing more starters (particularly the sharing platter and chilli squid) and getting a few of the ITR street food instead. It's very reasonably priced too with lots of beers, wines and cocktails. My only reason for not giving five stars was the service, which was quite slow as we were rather late being seated and it took a while for someone to take our order.
