The Ultimate Guide to Stunning, Surprising, or Hidden Filming Locations

"In the beginning of the film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, young Henry Jones Jr. is on the run from a gang of graverobbers. He finally hoofs it to his childhood home and the relative safety of his father. The real house where this scene was filmed has leaned into its cinematic legacy and become the Indiana Jones Home Bed & Breakfast. When River Phoenix (playing a young Henry Jones Jr., Indiana was the dog’s name) bursts into the small home in the film, it appears to be a simple house built by some train tracks in the arid dustbowl. Sean Connery, playing his father, Henry Jones Sr., stands as an imperious figure in a murkily lit study. As Indy approaches him to show the Coronado Cross, his dad asks the young Jones to count to 10. He does so, but in English. So his dad interrupts him and say: “In Greek.” This short scene embodies the stern, and somewhat grim household of Jones’s childhood. Today you can stay where this iconic scene was filmed. It is now a much more bright and welcoming B&B with white walls and modern fixtures. There are four units in the house, each given an Indiana Jones-ish name. There is The Holy Grail, The Crusaders, The Cortez, and The Coronado respectively. The decor is also lightly themed including a picture of Sean Connery still sitting over the hearth.  On the outside of the home, the rustic mailbox bearing the Jones name is still affixed to the wooden fence, appearing exactly as it looked in the film." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Sabra is great! Spending a couple nights there was better than anything we anticipated. Trust the reviews and enjoy her AMAZING food! We stayed in the Coronado and the Cortez. Rooms were pristine and the beds very comfortable. No central air conditioning but we stayed in late July and were perfectly comfortable. 10/10 👍🚂🚞🚞🚞

We really enjoyed our stay at the Indiana Jones House. It’s very close to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and is very likely the best place in Antonito for train riders. You can see the historic Rio Grande tracks right across the street! The Indian Jones theme and movie affiliation was also a huge hit with my family. The owner and host, Sabra, keeps the house very clean and nice. She also serves a great breakfast by putting her professional chef skills to good use!

The Indiana Jones Bed and Breakfast is a very unique experience. You are able to visit an Indiana Jones filming location and stay the night. The rooms are very nice and the beds extremely comfortable. The owner made a great breakfast. A must for any Indiana Jones fan.

Google
A really cool, funky, fun and immersive place to stay for Indy fans (who isn’t?) and all San Luis Valley vacationers. Your lively, local innkeeper is a fantastic chef, the rooms are very comfortable, quiet and include all the amenities. You’ll have an exclusive experience when you stay at this friendly BnB.

Google
It may not look like a fancy 5 star hotel, but if you judge a book by its cover, you'll miss out on a wonderful experience! Understand, this is a historic place and meant to look as it does. The 5 star rating is when you are inside...You're greeted as royalty, it's emaculately clean, quiet, and peaceful. Breakfast is included in your stay, and any food allergies are taken very seriously. Prepared by a certified chef, the owner, the food was delicious! In addition to all I've mentioned, there's 2 loving, adorable cats to entertain you! I recommend that if you're in the area, give it a try. You won't be disappointed! If nothing else, book a tour of Indiana Jones Bed and Breakfast!

I rated this excellent because of its uniqueness. We enjoyed the whole experience of being in this home and meeting Sabra, Jasmine and Patrick. They took care of us| and made us feel at home. We stayed two nights and each day, Sabra fed us a very hearty breakfast. I dont know if our paths will cross again, but I do know I wont forget them and the b &b experience. We loved all the memorabilia from the Indiana Jones movie. Much success to all of them.

Yelp
Cozy Bed and Breakfast filled with memorabilia, warmth and charm. Built in 1888, this adobe two story house became the scene (main floor) for the first Act in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. Now owned and hosted by Sabra for the past 7 years, there are so many cute and strategically placed reminders of the movie and the series. From the (Indiana) Jones sign on the mailbox outside, to the Double Doors inside from the set, to the In Search of the Holy Grail cups carefully aligned on a shelf as you try to find the Carpenters cup, this place puts a smile on your face. Great breakfast, great conversation and customer service by both Sabra and Alex. Loved my stay and you will too!

Yelp
The Indiana Jones B&B was delightful. The owner, Sabra, is as well. She's a former executive chef, so breakfast was amazing. She's also a gracious host. She had lots of recommendations for the area. Upon arrival, she took us on a tour of the house and gave us a bit of the history. She has a folder that was given to get with some photos during the production of Last Crusade and news articles from the time. That was really interesting. The house is filled with movie memorabilia. The rooms are comfortable. They all have names, and my party for two rooms. I forget which I had, but it had a queen bed and a balcony. The other room we had was the king. Each room had s private bath. The website is easy to use. You pay on the sure, and during your stay, you'll have to pay the taxes. We paid those in cash, she doesn't retain credit card info. It's a quick walk into town to restaurants.

Yelp
A very warm and welcoming place and very convenient location for everything in the area, especially the train. The breakfasts were great and they were very conscientious and accommodating for our food restrictions. Even with restrictions the food was wonderful. I highly recommend staying here with clean rooms and comfortable beds and the movie theme you will have a great time.

Yelp
A little gem. Lovely breakfast and clean and neat as a pin. Friendly owner and staff. I would recommend staying as it is a unique experience.

Yelp
A totally wonderful, laid back, out-of-the-box place to stay. Rooms comfy and clean; breakfasts like few others. As in Dutch babies, blue corn pancakes with fresh fruit syrup, scratch made bagels, all food except orange juice is local. Sabra is an incredible host, filled with stories and anecdotes at breakfast. I spent 14 nights in the last couple of months (Memorial Day weekend and end of July, 2921), it's that good. The house is the second built in Antonito, pre-1900! Of course, if you're an Indiana Jones fan, it's nirvana. Both outside and in were used during a filming. The house is close by the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR, so very convenient for a train ride.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even though it was only one night. Beds are very comfortable and the breakfast was awesome. It was great reminiscing Indiana Jones. She had lots of items and books about the movie. We will stay here again. Thank you for everything!

Yelp
I had a great 2 nights at the Indiana Jones with my boyfriend. The B&B is tucked away in the tiny town of Antonito about 4 hours from Denver, and if you go through Walsenburg, the drive is absolutely breathtaking. It's also only 2 hours from Santa Fe, so day trips there are very do-able. We were greeted by the innkeeper, Sabra. She was friendly and welcoming but didn't hover over us. I felt taken care of and had everything I needed but didn't feel like I was forced to socialize if I didn't want to. Bonus: lots of cuddles with her 2 adorable dogs. The hotel is older and quaint (you can really feel the history of the place), but also very clean, comfortable, and cozy. There is cool Indiana Jones memorabilia everywhere, and if you ask the innkeeper, she can tell you all about what parts of the movie were filmed and exactly where. If you are a movie buff, it's kind of a thrill to think that Harrison Ford once stood in the same place you are standing. About the rooms: The bed was just right, not like one of those hard hotel chain beds. The sheets were super-soft, and there were some good quality soaps and other toiletries in the bathroom. My room had a nice deep soaking tub, too! I was very comfortable. The food: Oh. My. God. The innkeeper is an amazing cook, and in addition to delicious strong coffee and mouthwatering homemade scones for breakfast, we were also treated to a dinner of tender short ribs, garlic smashed red potatoes, and poppyseed-dressed coleslaw. So good! Parking is easy and since the town is so small, it's walkable. There's a good Mexican restaurant nearby, a grocery store, and if you want to imbibe, a liquor store and dispensary. During certain times of the year, Antonito is a stop on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, which is a big attraction, and a few blocks away you can go take a peek at the eccentric Cano's Castle, a home constructed entirely of junk (it's cooler than it sounds). When you visit, plan on a slow-paced, relaxed vibe, a great night's sleep, and some fantastic food. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
First off all, I am a HUGE Indiana Jones fan so when we were driving through Antonito, my jaw literally dropped and I was "giddy as a schoolboy" when we saw the sign for the Indiana Jones B&B and I realized that it was the actual house seen at the beginning of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! Located across the railroad tracks, the exterior of the house looks pretty much the same as it did in the film. The wooden mailbox marked "Jones" greets you at the front of the dusty yard surrounded by an old tree-trunk fence. The house is very old, over 100 years, so that's pretty much what you can expect. When we drove up to take pictures we were greeted by one of the managers, Michael, who was very gracious to let us come inside and look around. Again, I was "giddy as a schoolboy!" A creaky old wooden screen door opens up just like it did for River Phoenix in the film into the living room which has been painted a "close" shade of green to what it was when they filmed. On the walls adorn Indiana Jones memorabilia such as a prop replica of the headpiece of Ra. There's a rack in the corner with such replica props as Indy's trademark fedora, whip and satchel, and an Indiana Jones movie poster. There's a couch and a small CRT TV with satellite and all of the Indiana Jones DVD's to watch. They also have free Wi-Fi for the guests. The dining and kitchen area are further back beyond the double-door pantry and near the dining room window is where Sean Connery was sitting at his desk writing in his grail diary. There's a long dining table here for guests to eat. Michael informed us that he is a "master chef" and takes care of the breakfast services which are made to order and cooked on an antique cast iron wood stove. The house is quite small and the 3 upstairs bedrooms have been converted into guest rooms, each equipped with a shower and/or bathtub, sink and toiletries. There's the "Coronado" room with a double bed and attached bathroom with stand-up tile shower. The "Cortez" room has a private balcony and Queen and double bed and a standing shower with tile. The "Crusaders" room has a King-sized bed with a detached bathroom with a European jacuzzi-style tub. Downstairs on the main floor is the "master" bedroom appropriately called "The Holy Grail" room which has a nicer and bigger Queen sized bed and outside viewing windows. Be sure to choose your room wisely depending on your personal needs. We did not actually stay overnight here but it seems like a no-brainer to stay at the House of Indy if you are an absolute die-hard fan who can fully appreciate the authenticity of it. However, if you are just looking for a general comfort B&B, are probably better off booking a comfy hotel room in Alamosa about 30 miles north. You are going to be roughing it a bit if you stay here so if you are used to sleeping in a dormatory or cabin and don't mind staying in a tiny old scruffy house with creaky wooden floors and beds and no AC then you should not have any complaints. The rates may seem a bit high for what you get but keep in mind that you are paying for the nostalgia, NOT the comfort. The house is located about a mile from the Cumbres and Toltec Steam Engine Railroad that was also used in the movie and you can take a scenic train ride to Chama, NM or Osier, CO. If you ride the train, be sure to save your ticket as it will get you a 25% discount off of a 2-night stay at the Indy B&B. The Indiana Jones house is an historic landmark and it's great to see that nostalgia is being well preserved, and although it's a neat idea, may not be the most ideal or luxurious place to host a Bed & Breakfast. It is what it is. Indy fans should be prepared to temper your expectations against your passion and enthusiasm. The Indiana Jones House might benefit more from being converted into a tourist museum. Like Indy says, "It belongs in a museum."

Yelp
We stumbled on this place passing through, and it was great. We enjoyed all the Indiana Jones stuff, but it stands on its own merits as a B&B with comfortable beds and a real breakfast with local ingredients.

Gail B.

Yelp
We had a wonderful 2 days at Indiana Jones B&B. This is a place for people who want to be part of the surroundings. It is not for those who want to be in a 5 star hotel. The accommodations were charming and clean. The bed was comfortable and the night was quiet. Sabra is both a wonderful cook and charming hostess. Other guests, like ourselves, were pleasant, but there to do their own thing. We came to Antonito to take the Cumbres and Totlec train trip to Chama. This was a wonderful option for our stay. The drive to and from Antonito provided wonderful scenery and a relaxing trip. We highly recommend this B&B for those who want a different experience.

Yelp
Hotel needs updating. Value is not there although location is super. Bathrooms have old fixtures, bath curtains, old sink and are very small. TVs not as big as you would expect at this price level. If it were not for the location, we would not pay this hiigh of a price for this hotel. Valet parking too expensive.
