Indie Hostel

We gave our laundry to the hostel and half of it went missing. What made the situation even worse is that it was somehow treated as our fault. The staff didn’t try to help at all, showed no empathy, and made no real commercial gesture — they only refunded the laundry fee (70 baht), while more than 2,000 baht worth of clothes were lost. What’s particularly frustrating is that the hostel requires a 2,000 baht deposit per person in case of a lost key or a stained towel, yet when they lose guests’ belongings, they take no responsibility whatsoever. Very disappointing experience. We expected at least basic accountability and customer care.

If you want to sweat a lot, stay here. Fab hostel good staff so clean and comfy beds but the air con does NOT reach the top bunks, so ask for a bottom (still warm). The halls and shower rooms are AC free so extremely hot!!! The bags are not allowed in the rooms so have to be kept outside in lockers which seemed annoying, but actually made sense to keep the room clean and noise free if packing in the morning. The breakfast is lovely the ham and cheese sandwich is fab and the americano is v v v good.

Worst hostel ever. I left my clothes with the laundry service they lost three quarters of them. They returned a pair of pants torn, plus the receptionist told me it was my fault and that I had torn them myself. There was absolutely no empathy, no compensation, and no real apology. They also asked for an enormous security deposit for just one night. Don’t go there you’ll be badly treated.Expect a very unfriendly and unprofessional welcome.

The shared room is fine, it's exactly as pictured. Very comfortable and tidy. The hostel itself is quite quiet. Not really a place for socializing, in my opinion. I stayed 5 nights in the private room with a friend and it's very small. Everything else was okay.

Before checking in, you need to understand that everyone is raised differently and has different social manners. Many people are inconsiderate and act like they're in their own home. During my stay, I encountered a group of tourists talking loudly, leaving their room door open to retrieve items from their lockers, causing the room to cool down. They were also talking loudly on their phones, pacing back and forth, slamming doors loudly, and playing as if they were in an amusement park. Otherwise, the hotel is excellent in every aspect, including its location on Sairee Beach, proximity to a 7-Eleven, clean bathrooms, and a relaxing seating area on the top floor.

!!!BED BUGS!!!! !!RUDE STAFF!!! Stayed in a room for two nights and got told we needed to be moved so the room could be cleaned but wasn’t told as to why. Moved to the second room and my partner had a bed bug crawling over him. Explained to the staff the situation and was met with a VERY rude and blunt interaction with the staff, accusing us of having bed bugs but we had just cleaned all our clothes that morning and have only been travelling for a week. when we returned with the clean clothes and relaxed in our rooms for a moment that’s when we discovered them, We even kept the bed bug and showed the lady but she still refused to believe it was bed bugs!! Madness!! Then another member of staff came and actually confirmed and agreed it was bed bugs and checked the rest of the room for more. Absolutely disgusting, avoid at all costs!!!! We moved to nomads and had a much better experience, highly recommend this place!!

Location was good if you want to be near the bars. In our case it was very handy as the pub crawl was on our hostel street. Considering there is a club opposite i could not hear this at all in my room, in the hallway and on the communal roof top yes but not in the bedrooms. The music actually was nice to hear when chilling on the rooftop. The communal area has multiple bean bags and was quiet when we went so people can do their own thing or socialise if they want to. The room is always airconed which is so important. Yes there is limited space for bags in the room but they provide lockers outside the room and this was really helpful in keeping the room quiet as people could pack their bags in the outdoor/hallway space. The burger place under it has really good food (the ciabatta). The service was really helpful in booking stuff. It was not that social in terms of interaction, but there were people there going in and out and chatting so I think it may be about making the effort and depends what you want out of the hostel.

Worst hostel of our whole Thailand trip! We were so excited to stay here cause it looked so beautiful on the pictures but when we came here we were in total disbelief. The double private room we booked was covered in mold everywhere with an odor you wouldn’t want to smell when entering your place to sleep. Everything was kinda wet and you could clearly see the mold on the walls and in the AC. We didn’t turn it on once because we knew if we would it would spread all around again. The room itself was very tiny but well equipped and came with an ensuite bathroom. We did have a window that we could gladly open for the nights. We also addressed the problem with the staff and there was not really any understanding or solution of the problem from their side and rather a rude attitude. They did give us a tiny discount of 4€ for the second night. We also talked with another couple in the hotel and they experienced the exact same thing as us, so it’s a common problem there, especially in the wet season apparently with the flooding outside. The hostel is well located though and right in the center of Koh Tao with everything (7/11, stores, restaurants, bars, beach..) in walking distance which we liked, but literally right next to the biggest pubs there which means live music until 3am in the morning. The hostels rooftop is actually nice though and we would have rather slept there than in our room. For around 45€ a night this is a big no, we won’t come back.
