We had such a great stay at here! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming—always greeting us with a smile and in great spirits. The complimentary breakfast was a great way to start each day, especially the waffles—they were a hit! The happy hour was a nice touch and helped kick off our nights perfectly. Our room was very clean and the perfect space for the queen bed we requested. The combination of the location and the price simply can’t be beat. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do! We’ll definitely be back—thank you for such a memorable experience!

I went with my two college kids. They both absolutely loved it because it feels like a very large bed-and-breakfast. Atrium in the middle is so peaceful to have breakfast by each morning. The cheese and wine at 5 PM every day truly is such a treat. All of the staff is truly kind. This hotel has the very best location! We could walk anywhere in downtown we wanted to go and it is right by city market.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Paid too much for nothing. Don’t waste your money. The customer service severely lacks any compassion. Paid $25 for parking but there’s not enough spots for everyone in the lot. Each room has one window ac unit that can’t keep up. The AC was set at 65 but wouldn’t cool past 78 degrees. There was no cold water to brush your teeth or shower with, only hot. Got here at 6:30pm. The wine and cheese is only served at 6pm. The cookies were no where to be found at 8pm. The front desk doesn’t answer when you call from the room phone. The front desk person sat on their phone in the office as we walked up and we were ignored. To top it all off, ice machine is broken as well. We won’t be back.

This place is exactly what you need if you want parking ($25/night) and a great central place to stay. Upon arrival, we were super early. We asked if we could keep our bags there and they said yes. About an hour later our room was ready! Couldn’t believe it. It is so close to everything, AC works, and beds are comfy. Not sure why people say this is outdated… it is an old building but everything was clean and updated in my book! We didn’t get to have the wine and cheese, but the breakfast was amazing considering it is continental, and the cookies and milk at night is SO good!!! We raved about this amenity. We couldn’t find pictures of the milk and cookies before hand. But in case you were wondering, they were peanut butter and they kept a gallon of milk in the fridge in the lobby with cups. Cannot recommend this place enough - will be back

Google
This hotel wants to be nice and historic but lacks luster. Rooms are super basic with little decor (mostly plain white walls). AC window units are ridiculously loud. Breakfast is just shy of continental. Night cookies are usually hard. Beds are rock hard. Location is the best part of this hotel. Staff took breaks at the entrance to smoke. Had to ask where the check-in desk was upon arrival bc the smokers were busy smoking. No help with luggage. Check in process was easy otherwise.

This hotel is in a perfect location. Very walkable to most places you might want to visit - but we enjoy walking. Our room was on the 2nd floor (#207) - it was large with a comfortable sofa. Other reviewers have commented on the small bathroom - getting in and out could be a little tricky if you are a larger person. The atrium is a lovely area for relaxing in the fresh air with plenty of seating, BUT, there was a persistent sewer-ish odor out there during our stay. Sometimes changing seats helped a bit, sometimes it didn't. It was extremely hot during our stay, maybe that had something to do with it? The breakfast is adequate if you need something quick but not really anything that I personally enjoy (bagels, muffins, cereal for the most part). The afternoon wine and cheese is pleasant with other drinks offered like craft beer and soda. There is an airport-style water bottle refill station next to the ice machine. In this day and age I am always disappointed when hotels don't have a convenient system for water refill so I loved this. The staff we encountered were fine - not happy to see us but not rude either. The exception to that was the man at the desk the day we checked out - very friendly and appreciative of our business. On site parking is a plus for sure although we barely used our car and might rethink renting if we returned. We made use of a bike shop 2 blocks away and rented bikes for a couple of days. We biked to Sullivan's Island which was a fun adventure. We would use this hotel again.

Google
Great place. The staff was super friendly, the courtyard was cute, and the had fun amenities throughout the day. And the location was perfect! Also not haunted, not sure if that is good or bad, I'll leave that up to you.

Excellent location, beautiful room, great breakfast, afternoon wine & late cookies and milk. Staff was friendly and helpful. Car parking on site.|Perfect in every way. Get a room with an atrium view. We were on the 3 rd floor. Very quiet & felt like a tree house view.

Yelp
I don't know if I can say enough good things about this place. From check in to check out, everything was amazing! We spent Memorial Day weekend in Charleston visiting from Denver. It was our first time visiting so we wanted a central location where we could walk everywhere. We found exactly what we wanted at the Indigo Inn. We got into town earlier than expected so we decided to at least drop our luggage off at the hotel so we could explore while we waited to check in at 3pm. To our surprise, Kendra at the front desk told us our room was ready and we could check in early for no extra charge. Kendra was amazing, so welcoming and hospitable, she got us checked in, got us all the info we needed about the hotel, and provided plenty of laughs. It was the best check in experience I have ever had, never knew i would make that statement lol. We got settled into our large, king bed room on the first floor entry way. I'm seeing a lot of reviews about the rooms and bathrooms being too small so I guess we got lucky and got one of the nicer rooms. It was large with a comfortable, clean ming size bed, sofa and lounge chair with a coffee table, nice antique chest drawers that would fit enough clothes for a 2 week stay, and tv cabinet with a mini fridge and coffee set. The bathroom was definitely not small, had a nice granite counter top with plenty of room for 2 people to get ready and a separate room with the toilet and shower. Where the toilet is is small but not inconveniently small, just not enough room to have a party. Overall, we were more than happy with the room and will request the same one when we return. After we got settled into our room, we went back to the front office to ask the staff for some food, bar, and sight seeing recommendations. Julia at the front desk spent about 20 minutes telling us all about the city, gave us tons of recommendations, and also provided us with walking maps and transit info. We really like to walk new cities and see everything, and Julia knew our vibe and couldn't have been more helpful. It was overall just a great way to start our trip. After walking the city all day we made it back for the last hour of the 2 hour "happy hour". Due to covid, the food options were boxed but still great. They have the option of individual red or white wine single serve bottles which you pick up in the lobby with the boxes of food. Then we sat in the courtyard which is definitely a huge draw of this hotel. It was nice to sit back and relax and also have 3 glasses of complimentary wine lol. Kendra was tending to all the guests and keeping us all laughing and enjoying ourselves. It was just the nicest, most pleasant time and another reason we will be back! The whole weekend was great at the Indigo Inn, I don't know if there is a better place to stay for so cheap. It's hard to find anywhere in Charleston for under $300-400 a night for a room which is usually tiny and cluttered. This was such a great find. Also, we had a wedding to attend and came back to the hotel around 1am. We were leaving the next morning and forgot to arrange transportation since there is very little to no ride sharing options. I can't remember his name, but the overnight gentleman was able to arrange us a ride with one of the drivers they work with. I feel like I could have gone to the front desk staff with any issue and they would have a solution for me, which is a great feeling to have while traveling and exploring a new city. We loved this place and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Really good value for the price. Clean, neat, they feed us, and it is kept up. You can tell it is an older place, but it is really nice. Older building so you can see paint is thick. Front desk folk are great. Helpful, knowledgable. So nice. Got hot tea tonight and cucumber lime water in the afternoon. We missed the wine and cheese hour because we were not here at that time. Had a cookie at 8, basically slice and bake but it was warm. Not sure small cookies which is nice. I found this hotel for #117 a night in Feb of 2025. So worth it. Much cheaper than other places. And this is completely centrally located. Nice.

Yelp
The Indigo Inn is a charming bed and breakfast stay in downtown Charleston. The small boutique style facility has old town character and the rooms were clean, comfortable and adequate for our stay. We enjoyed sitting at the outdoor tables near the fountain in the courtyard for breakfast and happy hour and also after we returned from dinner. We got into town, went on a carriage tour and then checked in in time for their complimentary happy hour (5-6:30pm) which included an impressive selection of snack foods, hot pasta dish, charcuterie foods and canned beers and wine. They also provided a continental breakfast with fruit, yogurt, various breads, muffins, waffles and bagels, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and juices from 7-10am. Our 2 queen room was very clean and basic amenities were provided. We had plenty of space for our luggage and appreciated having a hair dryer and plenty of towels and paper products. The air conditioner did run all night but we did not mind the white noise much because it muffled the sounds of other guests outside our room both late and early. There is also a $25 a night parking fee which we were told is everywhere in Charleston now. The location is ideal as we were walking distance to all our restaurants, the carriage ride, the city market and the park. It was a fitting southern stay- charming, hospitable, comfortable and quaint and in a great location.

Yelp
A very lovely place to stay in downtown Charleston. The facility has lots of character and the rooms are cozy. The man checking us in was helpful and friendly. We arrived just before they were finishing their complimentary happy hour (5-6:30pm) which included an impressive selection of canned beers and wine. Plus there was a spread of fancy cheese and crackers. They had a bedtime snack as well of milk, cookies and fruit. Nice touch. The continental breakfast was a great spread with bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, coffee, muffins, pastries, and waffles. The room was very clean, nice modern shower. Deep Steep lotion and hair products, too!! Very nice. There is a tiny fridge and hair dryer in the room. The bed was so tall it made us laugh, who was this bed frame built?? I almost needed to use the footstool which was in the closet haha. The main gripe we had was regarding the horrible pillows. They were overly large, just too much stuffing and we had bad stiff necks the next morning. Also the air conditioner was constantly turning on and off every 30 seconds which made it hard to get a good rest. Other than that a nice place to stay. They have their own private parking lot which is $25 a day to park. The indoor garden/fountain/ sitting area is so peaceful. Wish we had more time to enjoy the property!

Yelp
Great location to walk to everything , snacks 24/7 wine from 5-6:30 beautiful courtyard to enjoy . Parking is 25$ a night on site . Only complaint is that our ac in the room never got cold . Had them " fix it " but on 62 degrees it's still not cold . Room 204 .

Yelp
LOVE this place. Staff is great & welcoming. There is always someone at the front desk. We were able to bring our bags to store before checking in. This was such a game changer! They serve little snacks throughout the day and always have coffee available. The rooms were clean and this inn is in such a good location! We could walk everywhere.

Yelp
The Indigo Inn is a really cute and cozy place to stay! We loved the staff's friendly demeanor and the evening cookies were a great treat. The room was comfortably sized and had everything we needed. The only thing I would note is that it can get a little loud if you're staying in one of the rooms facing the courtyard.

Yelp
Very disappointed in my stay at the Indigo Inn this week. The hot water wasn't working, apparently all over the hotel, leading to one tepid shower and then a miserable cold shower. The hotel could not guarantee that it would be fixed before Friday (our planned check out day). Even worse, they didn't officially notify us of the repair plan until hours after they knew the situation. Also, there was a sewage gas smell off and on in the atrium, interfering with our enjoyment of that usually lovely feature. One star for location and evening wine and cheese, but we cut our losses and checked out 2 days early. I will not return to the Indigo Inn.

Yelp
While in Mount Pleasant, SC for a wedding, we decided to spend 2 nights ahead of time in downtown Charleston. I don't remember how exactly I settled upon the Indigo Inn but I'm thinking it was based on overall pricing, location and reviews. The Indigo Inn is a very quaint, bed & breakfast like hotel. There are 3 floors of rooms, starting on the ground, that surround an atrium with patio seating and plants/trees. We had a queen room on the 2nd floor near the elevator, not atrium viewing. The rooms & furnishings are a bit dated, and could be a bit cleaner but we had no real complaints. The air conditioning worked well + there was a ceiling fan, and since we only had one window looking out to the hallway, the room stayed nice and dark - perfect sleeping conditions. The nice thing about this Inn is all the free food they include. There is a breakfast spread each morning, a wine & cheese happy hour at 5 pm, and milk & cookies at 8 pm. Plus they have trail mix and coffee out all day long. It's also in a great central location, in walking distance to many of downtown Charleston's attractions and restaurants. My fiancé and I were definitely not the target demographic for the hotel - we were probably the youngest guests there - it seemed like an over 50 crowd. That didn't really bother us though and we were pleased with our stay.

Yelp
This hotel is outdated, dirty, loud, and OVERPRICED! It is conveniently located and the lobby is cute but unfortunately that does not affect the rooms. For the amount of money you will spend here you can find another spot much nicer with a stronger ac and better lighting.

Yelp
I don't know how to explain it, but this was the most comforting place I've stayed in BY FAR! The staff are soooo friendly, love the breakfast and the nightcap at night!!! The room was clean, and was really cute. Interestingly, I had the best sleep EVER in that bed. Love this place I didn't even want to leave it.

Yelp
oh my gosh, this is disgusting!!!. I went to go to the bathroom and then I see a disgusting little creature on the bathroom floor next to the fridge second of all why is there a fridge in the bathroom? There could be any other place for a fridge to be like by the TV, but no the mini fridge has to be in the bathroom. I was disgusted by the site of flies, mosquitoes, and whatever creature this is look like a baby lizard, and it was pink/tan color. The only reason why I'm giving them two stars is because the customer service was nice and I like the fact that they have cookies and brownies. I do not like the cleanness and seeing creatures in my room. Who knows what else is laying in this place...

Mel D.

Yelp
This unique hotel is a fun and different experience from typical chain hotels. It's relatively small, so the staff are super friendly and remember you. Also, the little extras they provide are great. In addition to the continental breakfast, they have a wine and chess tasting at 5pm and milk and cookies at night, plus cucumber water and snacks available in the lobby throughly the day. The location is fantastic - right next to Hyman's and City Market, so tons of attractions are within walking distance. The building is a bit on the older side, but we didn't have any issues and all the amenities are the same as those of a regular chain hotel. If we come back to Charleston again, we will definitely it let be staying at the Indigo Inn again.

Yelp
Let's start with the positive. The staff was very nice, the place was clean and the location was fine. I travel roughly 75 days a year so I have seen plenty of hotel rooms. This was without question one of the worst rooms I have stayed in and they are all the same here. It is badly in need of a refresh. The carpet should have been replaced a decade ago. There is almost no natural light and the toilet room shower set up requires acrobatics. There are so many better choices in Charleston I may never talk to the relatives who recommended this place again.

Denise S.

Yelp
Stayed here... it's kind of expensive but a decent price for the location (around $450/night plus $20/day parking) but so nice! Next time I thought it would be interesting to stay closer to Riley Waterfront Park.... or at least on the other side of the Charleston City Market. But this is an adorable boutique hotel with lovely courtyard containing a fabulous fountain and wonderful patio furniture. The king room was nice-sized but as other reviewers mentioned, the toilet/shower area was tiny. The shower is big but you can't shut the door until you squeeze in and sit on the toilet....and I am short. There's a great happy hour 5 to 6::30 pm with snacks and free wine. Nice, typical breakfast. Workers are very nice.

Kristine D.

Yelp
As a whole the hotel was nice. The courtyard is beautiful and the staff is super sweet. The breakfast is a nice assortment of bagels, Danish and fruit. Great coffee. Now for my pits of staying there. We were in room 102 right by the office and the ICE MACHINE!! Starting at about 6am and again at 7am it sounded like boulders were coming through our door. Another pit was our bathroom. The counter/sink area was plenty big but the toilet/shower was the tiniest. The toilet area was only 2.5 feet wide. Another plus is the location!! Walking distance to sooo much.

Giselle G.

Yelp
I'm not one to make reviews since I don't have the time. Regarding this hotel...pros are: centrally located, decent room except the tiny wet area which makes it hard to enter and close the door. You almost have to enter bathtub to close door. Cons: breakfast is mediocre considering the price of the hotel per night. It felt like food items were bought at Costco at wholesale prices; hotel doesn't feel like of you've stayed in a quality inn of 400.00 plus per night. Enjoyed Charleston, but I wouldn't stay at Indigo Inn again.

Yelp
Charming. One word describes this hotel. I don't think I've ever stayed in a place quite like this before, it's usually big commercial chains. I was a bit hesitant at first to stay here because of it not being a well know name but it was wonderful. I agree with others to not be fooled by the outward appearance. It looks like nothing special at all-too bad they don't enhance the exterior. I will say it's an older crowd that seems to be staying here though so if you are a younger and large group that might be up late and in town to party, this might not be the place for you. There is no bar or a pool but nice perks like refreshing lemon aid and iced tea always in the lobby. Cheese and wine hour everyday plus a continental breakfast every morning. A few hot items and then cereal, fruit, danishes, muffins, bagels etc. You can eat or hang out in the adorable courtyard in the center of the hotel. We noticed they have the top covered by a thin netting so birds were never an annoyance. The location is absolutely perfect! You are close to everything there is to see and do in downtown Charleston. Even if you don't want to walk an Uber would be so cheap being so close. Details in the room-Love that there is a fridge and the toilet/shower is separate from the mirror/sink so it can be used at the same time. A full length mirror, 2 luggage racks and plenty of hangers were much appreciated. I will say the bathroom is quite small, for a tall person this would be a problem. It's very tight with no room to move. Free internet that was very fast, never had an issue when on their WiFi. Staff was so friendly and helpful. We were so happy with our stay and the location of this Inn. I would highly recommend this place and stay here again. We loved it.

Yelp
We stumbled onto the Indigo Inn on our first visit to Charleston. It is located near the historic center of this historic city. It sits very near the market, and is in easy walking distance of the waterfront, shops and taverns that lend such charm to the city. The two floors rooms surround a central garden court. The sounds of the city around you don't reach this quiet oasis. The rooms are large, comfortable and seem to have been recently renovated. Each room we saw had a comfortable sitting area with couch, easy chair and coffee table. The lobby retains an antique charm, and the staff were friendly, accommodating and more than willing to offer suggestions to enhance your visit. Ice water, coffee and teas are available at all times in the lobby. A delicious breakfast is served each morning which includes an array of hot and cold choices. Each afternoon, wine and snacks are available. Sitting and reading with a glass of wine in the courtyard was wonderful! If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in walking distance of historic Charleston, you won't go wrong if you stay at the Indigo Inn.

Yelp
What a great find in a great location. There are chain hotels nearby, but this charming inn is so much more fitting and better priced in this historic city. Rooms face on to a courtyard where wine and cheeses are served at 5, with plenty of patio seating by the fountains. Breakfast is also included. Rooms are beautifully furnished with a large tile shower and large granite sink counter. We liked this place so much, we added a second night. So much to walk to close by, and Fort Sumter harbor tour is a must.
google avatar

Yelp
The staff was nice The room was not in good order. One of the posts was missing off of the four poster bed and the previous guest left an open water bottle in the room. The door did not fit right. I could see outside. Hated the courtyard. It looked great but the cackling women, barking dogs and screaming kids made it a bad feature. Too bad people are so inconsiderate.

Yelp
This is the perfect hotel. I hate to write a review because I don't want this hidden gem to become popular. The location is perfect. You can't get any better. Especially for the price. The back side of the hotel is on Meeting Street with the uncovered parking lot adjacent to the hotel on the other side. Parking is $16 a day. While some may complain. At least your car is easily accessible and you don't have to park it on the street nor a parking garage nor wait for valet to get your car. The hotel offers breakfast which is fruit, coffee, juice, water, sourdough bread, bagels, that you can toast, hard boiled egg, danishes/pastries and the hot meal item on one morning was biscuits and gravy, another morning morning was bacon and eggs and another morning was a potato, sausage, bell pepper and cheese casserole. This is served in the lobby where you can eat there, your room or the beautiful courtyard. They also offer wine and cheese with crackers in the evening, 5-6:30. It serves as a nice snack before dinner. And, after you come back from dinner, they have cold water and tea. The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. The rooms are beautiful with traditional furniture. We enjoyed a king room. It had spacious seating. The bathroom is nice. Turn down service is offered in the evening. The rooms open onto an exterior hallway that overlook the beautiful courtyard. The hotel is three stories. We enjoyed a room on the second floor. Some people say the end rooms are noisy because of the stairwell. The two times I've stayed there was on the hallway. Not an end. We had no problem with noise and slept beautifully. Enjoy!

Yelp
Very nice place. Julie at the desk was very helpful and got us in early. Wine and cheese was good. Glad we stayed here.

Yelp
I really like the Indigo Inn on Maiden Lane in Charleston. This hotel or bed and breakfast if you want to consider it that is beautiful and offers a unique experience that is fun and memorable. My favorite part of Indigo Inn is the courtyard that is enclosed inside the hotel, but you can still see the sky and the stars. This area is cool as there are plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy the fresh air, but still be able to relax and enjoy the quiet in the middle of the city. The staff here is wonderful and does a great job of being accommodating and providing an excellent guest experience. I have always had a really great time visiting here. Indigo Inn is one of my favorite hotels in Charleston.

Yelp
So my friend, her daughter and I came to Charleston for Spring break. Love this Hotel. Very good location. The front desk gentlemen is very good and help us to go on a City Tour. Love the Southern charm in this Hotel. The room is good. I slept good and it was very quiet. Just had Breakfast. Very good Coffee. It is a Gem in Charleston. Love it!

Yelp
This place is Quaint & Cozy. Great for a romantic getaway or just to get away. Nestled in the heart of downtown Charleston just steps away from everything. Yes, everything! Great and friendly staff. You can enjoy a morning read or breakfast in the courtyard garden. And believe it or not, the breakfast buffet is actually real food. You can go down the street to any higher priced hotel but I'm not sure why when everything you need is already here at a reasonable rate. We would definitely stay again.

Yelp
We loved staying here! Super convenient to everything in historic Charleston. Close to the market, restaurants on East Bay, waterfront, and the shopping on King St. The complimentary breakfast is great! Hot sandwich options, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, bagels etc. They also have lemonade, iced tea, and water out during the day. The rooms had hilariously tall beds but it was kinda fun to vault up onto them. They had a step stool to get up if you needed it. Very comfortable mattresses. Only thing was that the water was never very cold (we came in August) but the AC worked well! And they had awesome complimentary lavender soap. They also have turn down service and leave yummy chocolate mint sticks on the bedside table! Courtyard totally makes it! The fountain is beautiful and there is lots of seating to eat breakfast and hang out in the evenings. Really enjoyed staying here and looking forward to my next visit to the Holy City!

Yelp
Very run down hotel. The rooms feel dirty. The bed was squeaky and uncomfortable. Not a pleasant place to stay.

Yelp
6 of us made reservations for the weekend of October 29 th. Things were okay until they lost power in parts of the hotel. Our room had no hot water as did our one other room. The third room had no power and were given a large flashlight to deal with walking up the dark stairs and to find their room ,also in the dark. No elevator working so the Dark stairways were the only choices to get to your room. The manager only showed up to bring flashlights! He, Carl, never stayed and relied on his employees to deal with up set people. One set did leave but we stayed as most places were booked for the Halloween weekend and it would have been hard to pack up in the dark. On Sunday , the manager again never showed his face! It was about 8 hours that power was out so by morning we all had hot water for showers. Obviously it was a short in something that caused the outage and out of their control but the manager should have taken charge and refunded some money for the inconvenience. We were exhausted from our walking tour and our explorations of the city and desperately needed a hot shower to relax!

Yelp
Love the location of this place. In downtown Charleston and a perfect distances to all the shops and restaurants. The staff were so friendly. They also offered breakfast.

Kynsley B.

Yelp
Reasonably priced stay in a prime location. It has a lot of character and charm. They offer a cute little happy hour at 5 everyday with wine, beer, and charcuterie boxes!

Yelp
Where do I begin when praising this excellent establishment?! I'll start with Ignatius, the manager. His commitment to service is above and beyond, and made our time in Charleston. Taking a red eye from the west coast with toddlers can make a family tired, and he offered us early check in so as to allow us some rest. Friendly hospitality wasn't limited to the manager, but was exuded by all the employees we spoke with. The blue building is unassuming from the outside, but just one step inside and you're transformed into another era. The decor and ambiance is quaint and cute with antique furniture and rugs, that were a pleasant reminder of my late Grandma. The courtyard is adorable and a great place to enjoy the complimentary breakfast and evening wine and cheese. The water feature made it even more relaxing, and could be heard from inside our room (located on the first floor along side the courtyard). The room was adorable, and clean. The beds are tall and a wood step stool is provided, so the girls could easily get on and off on their own. Shower pressure was awesome with lots of hot water. The lotions and soaps smell great. There was a TV with plenty of channels for us to enjoy, though we didn't spend much time watching it, as the inn is within walking distance of everything worth mentioning, eating and doing in Charleston. I enjoyed our stay here so much, I'm already planning my next trip to Charleston, and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

Yelp
We have gone to Charleston, SC for the past several summers. We spend a night in the city. Our go to hotel is Indigo Inn. Shout out to Ignatius the front desk manager. He is so nice and accommodating. See you next summer!

Yelp
We had decided only a week in advance that we wanted to visit Charleston.. We searched and searched online (trip advisor and others), and so many places were either so expensive, or sold out! We wanted a place that had history and charm - so we weren't wanting just any other hotel etc.. This place was just that! I don't recall how we came across this (or why we hadn't noticed it before), but after reading about the building (history etc), we had to call to inquire about rates and availability (online it stated it was sold out, but we lucked out!).. it was also cheaper than anywhere else we were looking at! The place was super clean, and the staff was SO friendly! The location is perfect!! Right in the middle of everything, but not smack dab in any chaos! We were able to walk everywhere from there! Wine and cheese every evening (FREE!) with free breakfast, free wifi, and free parking! We had noticed many other places nearby didn't offer that. The courtyard is the perfect spot to hang out. Even the furniture was perfect - antique looking, which we loved, for the sake of charm. This is probably where we will always stay, when coming to town (unless we want to try one of the bed and breakfast and check out the old homes). We couldn't believe how perfect a spot was! They even let us leave our car parked there, for the rest of the day, after we checked out! Love love love this spot!

Yelp
The Indigo Inn is a quaint little gem in a great location! We were able to walk to most places within the historic district as well as so many amazing restaurants. The Inn itself is a bit dated but matches the historic area. Front desk and house keeping staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. We loved the evening wine and cheese reception and the fact that water bottles were always available in the lobby. If your looking for the modern hotel experience, the Inn is not for you. But if you want to submerge yourself in the culture and history of Charleston, I highly recommend!

Yelp
Very sweet little hotel in walking distance to the things to see in Charleston. As we arrived, the staff was very helpful and friendly. We were a bit early so we hung out in the lobby, drinking free lemonade and coffee. The hotel is very traditional, both inside and outside. Our room was looking like from an old time - but in a good way! Never stayed in a similar hotel. There also was a sweet patio all guests could use. It was also the place to get a small breakfast which was included. Nothing too special, but everything you need for a good start in the day. Also, they were serving red and white wine in the afternoon with a collection of different cheese and crackers. That was really nice! The room itself was clean, tidy, and cool - the a.c is a must in this area. But with all the little things to discover, we weren't that long in our room. It wasn't really expensive, but a little higher priced. But i would definitely pay it again and come back anytime i'd be in the are. Love it!

Yelp
Stayed here on business for 30 years and has always been great. They now have a management company running it and the service and ambiance has disappeared. The familiar faces are gone. They apparently no longer value their long time loyal customers as evidenced by the conversation I had with the "gm" yesterday. Unfortunate, but there are plenty of other options in Charleston. Still feel like I lost a friend.

Yelp
This place is quaint, great location, free parking and free WiFi. But... it's dirty, the room smelled like sweaty feet, the bathroom tub was full of mold, I cannot imagine what's in the carpet, the sheets had blood stains on them, you need a ladder to get into the bed, horrible ventilation. The miring meal was ok, wine and cheese in the evenings was also just ok. The courtyard was filthy, not attractive at all, the walls are made of paper coz you could hear every move other vacationers made. I'd never stay here again. The pretentious ppl staying here may think this is a great place but not me.

Yelp
We stayed for 3 nights, 9/8-9/11 2018; Wonderful stay. Staff were all very friendly and very helpful. We arrived before check in and they got our room ready for us. Nice breakfast spread, coffee lemonade water and iced tea out all day, and wine and cheese spread out at 5:00 each night. Very beautiful courtyard to enjoy your snack or just relax. They even gave us a couple towels to bring to the beach. Bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay there again.

Yelp
TRAVELERS BEWARE!! We have stayed at the Indigo Inn numerous times over the years and this was definitely the worse! We stayed in room #111, which was a double queen, with our corgi. This room was located at the base of the stairs and across for the mechanical room. Between the machinery noise and people stomping up the stairs all night, we got NO SLEEP! Our poor corgi lay by the door and growled because EVERYONE staying at the Inn had to walk by our door into the wee hours. The front desk should have disclosed this inconvenience at the time of booking, as there were other rooms available. Even when we checked in, nothing was mentioned as it is the WORST room there. When we checked out the next day and told the front desk, all she said was "Sorry". After 10+ visits, this will be our last!!

Yelp
Robert and the rest of the staff could not have been more accommodating. The complimentary wine and cheese for happy hour in the courtyard as well as the morning breakfast was a nice touch. The cleanliness and the location of this inn could not be bettered!!! Greg from Jupiter, Fl

Yelp
We spent as long weekend in Charleston and stayed at the Indigo Inn. The staff was beyond comparison, very friendly and helpful. The location is great, centrally located, allowing easy walk to the city market as well as many historic sites. Our room was comfortable, four poster beds, ceiling fans and an updated bath. Lovely courtyard for enjoying breakfast as well as a daily happy hour.

Yelp
Love this place. Charming, comfortable and great location. Good food for breakfast and happy hour with good wine. Immersed in history and culture of the Deep South, this isn't the typical modern homogenized hotel. They even have actual keys for the room doors. Staff couldn't be any more helpful or nicer. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Great location at an especially good price. Quiet. Nice enclosed courtyard/central atrium with a water feature - cooling and relaxing. Ignatius at the front desk was a good and gracious representative of the property.

Yelp
My wife and I spent a long weekend here, we've visited this stately old city on a number of occasions. The hotel is quaint and very eclectic. We truly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and slow southern charm. The staff were very polite and attentive, made us feel very welcomed. In the challenges facing businesses in today's COVID excitement, they managed the hotel in accordance with all health policies and still managed to make our stay pleasant. One day after we arrived home, we realized a priceless family heirloom was mistakenly left in our room. We contacted Carl in the hotel office and asked for their assistance in recovering this for us. Carl went right to the room, located this item for us and recovered our treasure. Carl contacted us, gave us the great news and stated he would take it to the nearby UPS store and have it shipped to us. Two days later it was safely back in our home safely secured. This is a clear reflection of the commitment and strong customer service values this hotel is obliviously dedicated to. We will be returning to the Indigo Inn the next time we find ourselves in Charleston, our heartfelt thanks to Carl and their staff again.

Yelp
My Mom and I stayed at The Indigo Inn in October 2014. This was our first trip to Charleston - for a wedding. We were very excited and my Mom had wanted to visit Charleston since she was a kid in Delaware. First, I would like to point out that the staff was helpful and friendly. Now, I will explain my low rating for The Indigo Inn. 1. Our room was dusty and dated. We checked in late at night after a long flight from San Diego and the lighting in our room was very poor. The room was dark during daytime hours, also. I had to ask the maids to come back and clean our bathroom again two mornings in a row. I did not complain to management, as I did not want the maids to get in trouble.. I now regret not complaining. 2. I contracted SCABIES during my stay at The Indigo from the bed linens on my bed. We had two queen beds and mine was on the far side of the room. My Mom uses a walker, so I wanted her to be near the bathroom. My Mom never came to my side of the room. 3. When I returned to San Diego and went to my doctor, he said, "you contracted SCABIES at the Inn and they are going to deny it and they will say you got SCABIES on the airplane". Well, that is exactly what happened. Initially, Brian Limehouse answered my phone calls and replied, "we will reimburse your medical expenses". I did not get reimbursed for anything and Brain Limehouse refused to return my addional calls. 4. The previous occupant checked out of my room at 10:00 a.m. I checked into the room at 10:00 p.m. the same day after a very long flight from the west coast. The Center for Disease Control reports SCABIES can live up to 24 hours in linens without human contact. Brian Limehouse told me that he contacted the previous occupant and that they did not have SCABIES - I find it rather hard to believe that he phoned the prior occupant asking if they had SCABIES. The SCABIES were tracking near my breasts, on the inside of my forearms, on the backs of my knees, the tops of my thighs, and on my back near my bra. 5. SCABIES are microscopic and cannot be seen without a microscope. Brian Limehouse told me that he had his pest control company come out and inspect my room for scabies and that the pest control company could not find any scabies. I doubt if the pest control company brought a microscope and I doubt if the employees are scientists. This fact is not believable, either. 6. Brian Limehouse then reported that the pest control company did not find any bed bugs. Bed bugs were not the issue! 7. Charleston is very charming. However, I will never return. The Indigo Inn and Brian Limehouse truly lack the southern hospitality that Charleston is so very famous for! Brian initially seemed to be a very friendly person, but he clearly lacks customer service skills and quality control. 8. I do not recommend staying at The Indigo Inn. Our room was not clean, it was difficult to see due to poor lighting in the room and very little daylight came in through a small window. I had to call the maids back twice to clean the bathroom. Obviously, the linens on my bed were not clean. I paid a lot of money and I was not refunded one cent or accommodated whatsoever. I had medical expenses, missed work, and had exorbitant dry cleaning and laundry expenses due to contracting SCABIES at the inn.
