Indi's Chicken

What a total let down. Food was not hot, mac & cheese tasted like fish, greens were ok, coleslaw was watery, cod fish was a no go (eat unless you are starving) after $23 the wings% all flats were the only thing I finished & could stomach. I won't try it again...It must be a convenient location for many, but better off going to grocery & cooking yourself. Great polite customer service.

Tater wedges, Mac & cheese and okra were amazing and fresh. The fried Cauliflower lacked flavor. Was very bland and needed some seasoning. The rice was also phenomenal! 🙌🏾. Customer Service was spectacular.

They have just about any food you want deep fried! Inexpensive and quick! Mac n cheese is the best.

This was our second time here on vacation in Kentucky. We definitely wanted to go back to Indi's Chicken. Crispy chicken in a delicious breading. The potatoes are also very tasty. Everything is fresh and you don't have to wait. We ordered medium! Be careful: hot is really hot!

Hometown favorite. Chicken is always fresh. The menu has gotten a bit more substantial with more items. There is not any sitting room in this location they're standing room only to order your food. Someone is behind the glass and they will serve up the items that you need. Various dishes to choose from. They are most infamous for their 6-piece chicken with a roll. Good original crunchy chicken. Very good, fresh, not spicy. Wasn't busy at all. There is a drive-thru option and which I took advantage of. Very very quick service, 11 minutes total in the drive-thru.

Extremely disappointing experience. I came in based on recommendations from two people, but I definitely won’t be back. I waited for over 6 minutes inside the restaurant while several employees were visibly working — not one acknowledged me or even asked me to wait. There was zero customer service. I eventually walked out without ordering anything. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can’t imagine what the rest of the experience is like. Would not recommend this place to anyone looking for food or basic courtesy.

I read about Indi’a chicken on chef Edward Lee’s book <buttermilk graffiti> and it didn’t disappoint! We ordered 3-pieces chicken meal and kids meal with chicken strips, everything was well flavored, incredibly juice and crunchy! Wow, even our picky eater 6 years old was so impressed now lol

The drive through was quick and easy. Came for lunch on the weekend and I was the only car there. The employees were kind and the food came out warm. All great things! The tenders - okay. They weren't really any different than what I can buy and bake myself. The flavor wasn't there. Wings - the spicy wasn't so spicy to me. The breading and flavor was SO much better than the tenders! Green beans - good! Flavored and cooked throughly. Potato wedges - y'all GET THESE. Hands down the best thing I ate here. So good. Smoked baked beans - such a unique BBQ flavor. Not my preferred flavor of BBQ, but these could be stellar to other taste buds!! Roll - this had to come straight out of a bag. Not worth the calories. It's definitely worth a try! You're not going to break the bank and I will say, this food will FILL you up.

I'm a long-time fan of Indi's, but lately the food has not been great, and a few times we've experiences some not great lingering effects. Hoping things improve soon because we love some spicy chicken!

Placed a order Thur door dash at 1 pm for a pickup at 5:30 pm!! Arrived at Indias at 5:25 in drive Thur. Explained to lady I had an order to pick up. Was told please pull fwd be 2-3 mins. After waiting 15 minutes outside. I go in to check, was told that she had not passed the message along I was waiting!! So fast fwd to 6:15 pm finally got my order!! So a 50 min wait for chicken!! I don't care if the chicken was made of gold, hard to enjoy anything that you wait an extra 50 mins for!!

Food was good and hot, service took a little longer than expected due to there was only one car in front of me 15 min is unexceptable for good business. Didn't go inside went through the drive thru. Hopefully on my next visi6the service will be alot quicker.

On February 19th Sunday at 10p I ordered Regular 20 piece chicken and was told they only have Spicy chicken and anyways they close at 11p the cashier stated. That says that after a certain time they stop cooking and chicken only takes 15 minutes to deep fry and it was closing in 1 hour; this has happened to me on multiple occasions that they only have Spicy chicken even 2 hours before closing so I will not be a customer anymore at this location very poor management and customer service.

Okay Then Kentucky. There was a long waiting line through Drive Thru when I was passing by this spot and I could see all the food through the window. I pulled in the driveway so I could go in and see what's good. A lady told me they make the catfish fresh so it takes longer, but it's her favorite. I got the catfish, greens, green beans, and peach cobbler. I grew up in TX next to a lake and this might be the best catfish I've ever had whatever their doing over here. I like the hint of sweetness in the greens. Could that be a pinch of brown sugar? Hmmm Peach cobbler is crusty crunchy in all the right ways too. I tried to save some catfish, but it's all gone bc it's great. Yep

Absolute MUST when in Lexington if you want some good fried chicken. Do you like it spicy?!?Then I recommend the side of sweet potatoes and greens to balance it all out. The sweet and spicy make for a burst of flavor that only the Hawaiian Punch will quench the thirst you'll acquire. Amazing Soul food, a large menu, and quick customer service.

Food here is the truth it really is when my order arrived to me it was still nice and warm the food itself was delicious and the prices are decent as well considering how delicious this food is. I'm gonna miss this place once I leave Kentucky

This place is way over hyped. The workers are friendly enough but the food is disappointing. The mac n cheese is not all that people say it is and in fact seemed old. The breading falls off the potatoes. The mashed potatoes were bland. The roll was good but there wasn't any butter. The chicken was only so so and the regular had a kick so if you can't do spicy, don't eat here. The chicken strips are fake like Mac D's and not actually fillets. I'd call them more of a chicken nugget and not a strip/fillet. I can't recommend this place to anyone and wouldn't come back.

I can not come to Lexington and not come to Indi's. Indi's has some of the best spicy fried chicken wings and potato wedges. Service was quick and my food was fresh and delicious. Truly a hometown favorite.

This place looks dirty, the service is deplorable (was handed my order by someone who wasn't even looking at me), and the chicken is not as good as Grimses a few streets over. No reason to go back. Do better.

Food was ok, chicken had a little flavor but iv honestly have had better. Only one star because there's nothing special about the chicken.

Ok so I have now had enough fried chicken around Lexington and other states across the U.S. to know this fried chicken is my absolute favorite!! Whatever their recipe is I have never tasted anything like it and its now something I just CRAVE!! Unique and AMAZING!

Best dry wings in Lexington I promise. Always hot and ready to go. Even when there is 10 cars in line, you never wait too long. Look up the menu online and know your order before getting to the first window bc you're probably holding up the line.

It is often a long wait and the flow of traffic is terrifying and confusing, BUT their spicy chicken is crazy good! I'm not in love with their sides, but the chicken is definitely worth coming for and their prices are fantastic. I'm rarely on this side of town, but when I am, I always enjoy the chance to get some Indi's chicken.

Food was okay Mac and cheese was good I was expecting a bigger container of Mac and cheese but it was a dinky little cup not really worth the money

I miss southern food now that I'm in Michigan. Leave it to Yelp to point the way. The chicken is delicious, BBQ sauce heavenly. Loved my mashed potatoes. Shit, I freaking loved everything, who am I kidding. It was entertaining to see a drug deal across the street while we waited. The girls that waited on us were nice. Cheap food and full stomachs. One happy girl. Even stole my quite a bit of my boyfriend's food. I mean...He looked away and it was good.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! This is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Period lol! The chicken was seasoned to perfection and sinfully crispy. All around amazing! Everytime time I pull up to Lexington I will be back.

I hit up Indi's recently, after a long layoff from enjoying their chicken and sides. This is a classic no nonsense, straight up chicken stand spot. Walk in- make your selections, and walk out with goodness in a bag/box. They offer fried and bbq chicken, seafood/fish entrees, and sides that make for a tasty, convenient meal when you're on the go. But even with the simple set up, Indi's still has a large menu that offers customers a wide range of options to get what you want in any size you want it, from a quick snack to dinner boxes and family packs. Indi's is well-known locally for their 'spicy, hot or mild' chicken and sides like their great fried apples, yams, slaw, mashed potatoes & gravy, or their 'extra sides' such as fried okra, wedges, and even egg rolls. I stopped in for a spicy breast and wedges on my latest visit, and they didn't disappoint. I got a large breast with a nice bit kick to it; juicy, savory, all the right aspects you expect. And the wedges were huge and very tasty; not dried out or bland. Throw in an iced tea and it was a nice lunch on my cold winter day off Indi's chicken comes in up to 10-30 pieces. Side orders also range from individual size to part/catering size. Drinks range from tea and Coke products to lemonades, with gallon sizes available for tea, lemonade, or a mix of the two. And their prices really can't be beat, with a la carte pieces from $1.70, sides from $1.54, and dinner boxes for $7.75. Service is no frills, take your order at the window style. So go get some Indi's, and try their sweet potato pies if you're wanting dessert after your chicken.

Always a delight! I've been in past quite a few times. We stopped in yesterday because my coworker wanted some wings while we were in the area. While I had prior lunch plans I was going too I had to try one of her spicy wings. I always stick to the mild but they were great! The wedges are always on point too. While the service can be slower at times due to how busy they are it's worth it.

Oh my word! The fried chicken is out of this world. This is the real "KFC"! While traveling through Kentucky with my family I looked up places to get some local food and Indi's came highly recommended on Yelp. This is a strictly takeout, no fuss place. There are no chairs and no tables. You either order from the drive through or walk inside and order. Price is very reasonable. We did the walk-up. I was like a kid in candy store. I wanted to order everything. I got 6 wings & 2 family dinner packs, which contained 3 pc of chicken, 2 sides, and a roll each. One regular, the other spicy. For sides I got Mac n cheese, fried apple, yam, and mashed potato. When I realized how small the sides were I added a 1/2 order of yam. Let me just say forget about the regular (non-spicy), unless you really can't handle spicy, order the spicy chicken! They're so tender and juicy on the inside, but crunchy and spicy on the outside. I don't know how they do it but the dredge clings on the chicken very nicely. I'm salivating just writing this review. I didn't have the sides because they were devoured by my little ones. They must've been tasty. I feel I've been fed the watered down fried chicken all these years by the chain "KFC" restaurants. So glad I got to try the legit fried chicken in Kentucky!

The food was delicious as always! They have awesome prices & the best chicken I've ever had! The nice young man at the window was quick, efficient, and very respectful. We do wish the parking lot was bigger so that it's not as hard to get into or maneuver but it doesn't detour us from the yummy food!

I know there are probably better wings at better prices in this town, but Indi's has been our "go-to" spot for chicken wings for decades. Sure, the drive-thru can be a nightmare when they're busy, and the prices are a little steep for the size of the wings, but the flavor and consistency is always dependable, and we're always satisfied with our purchase. I've started ordering jugs of pink lemonade with the wings for the kids, and it's an awesome addition to any potluck or picnic. Their wings are definitely a crowd-pleaser, and the spicy wings are the right blend of heat & flavor. So long as they keep serving consistently great tasting wings and don't change their recipe, we'll keep coming back.

My daughter recommended this take out joint while bringing her home from college. Very small parking lot makes maneuvering a small task. The entire 'dining room' is about 150 square feet. Just enough room to order, grab your food and back out. Not an issue. I wasn't there for white table cloth service. We ordered a snack box with spicy chicken, Mac n cheese, collards, and green beans. The chicken was the spiciest fried chicken ever....oh so good. The best! Flavor was balanced, not too salty- so flavorful. The green beans were yummy. The Mac n cheese was decent but I'm not a Velveeta cheese lover. The collards were amazing, bursting with flavor.

Delicious heart attack in a bag! Indi's is another staple in Lexington, drive thru can be a pain when it's backed up but the food is delicious and affordable enough to feed an army. It's greasy, it's fattening and it's delicious.

They don't have cheese fries need to fix this immediately will report and sue whole company this is totally unacceptable literally cried when they told me they don't have cheese fries

Their chicken is delicious!!! I would suggest doing a quick carryout. The neighborhood was not the safest place to be... the sides were delicious and their hot sauce burns!!! It was very satisfying. I would almost say that it's better than kfc! we got the family pack and it was more than enough for 4 people to share.

Let me begin by the young woman in drive thru dropped all of our drinks on my mother and didn't even apologize at all. Replaced the drinks with no apology or remorse at all. We get our food all the sides were wrong. The Mac and cheese was literally frozen. I took mine back in to get it replaced and she starts with a strait attitude , "I just changed this" well love it's cold as f***. They forgot my moms apples so we had to go back in for a second time and she immediately rolls her eyes at us , so I'm like what's the attitude for we just spent 58$ on this food and it's wrong and this is how you treat us by asking for a replacement of food that was rightfully paid for ?! And with so much attitude at that ? She walks to the back with my mothers apples So I said you don't have an attitude but your walking to the back acting a ass. The boss is like we're not gonna do this ..bro YOUR STAFF HAD NO REASONING TALKING TO CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT WHEN YOU ALL GAVE US THE WRONG FOOD and ICE COLD MAC N CHEESE! Get to the car and it looks like my mothers apples were stomped on when she went to the back. I can tell you this I'll be calling the health department after this and I will never be back here. Staff are so rude and poor mannered and serving food that undercooked.

I really wanted to like this place but the food was so meh. Chicken was small and not super flavorful. Greens ok. Fried okra meh. Corn bread meh.

I have been driving past this place for the past 3 years. I was not sure if I wanted to eat there or not. I had read a lot of reviews and finally took a chance. I regret the last 3 years of my eating life. Best fried chicken I have had in a long time. I had the two piece spicy with macaroni and mashed potatoes. The sides were good. No more than that. But the chicken was great. Decent amount of spice and the meat was juicy. Messy and Good. You cannot tell from the outside but the interior is very clean and up to date. There is nowhere to sit inside so I had to eat in the car. Would probably take home to eat next time. I read a lot of reviews that said the people working there were rude. I understand that. The guy taking my order was not happy to be there mid day on Sunday. On the other hand, the woman who gave me my food was very nice and was doing everything she could to keep up with demand. So they equaled out the service factor in my mind. I am looking forward to eating other things on their menu like the Jack Salmon Sandwich and the wedges. I would eat here a lot if they had seating but I will be back time and time again regardless. Indi's is absolutely worth a try.

Just stop by Indies for the first time after a doctors appointment. Went through drive-through picked up my three-piece regular meal. The service was good, went through drive-through. The chicken was amazing, salty greasy everything you want out of good fried chicken. Got some mixed greens handsome sweet potatoes as my sides. The greens were amazing even though they were a little more vinegar he then I usually do. My only regret was the sweet potatoes, they taste like a Christmas tree somebody put in to much all spice or nutMeg, not sure which. Over all, Indies is an awesome place for chicken! You should stop by.

Indi's was my favourite place before I moved to Florida 5 years ago. I went there just now for the first time since I came back and its still the best food I've had anywhere. The chicken is perfectly cooked and tender. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the parking lot is kind of small to accommodate all of the people that obviously love it as much as I do.

Chicken is awesome!! Best place for keel. The coleslaw is awful and tastes like sweet relish and very wet and liquid like salad dressing.

Indi's . . . the REAL Kentucky fried chicken! So, I'm not a fast food person. The fact that I actually ventured through the drive-thru at Indi's is a shocker. I've passed Indi's so many times, but this one day, the chicken clucked to me, and I made a calculated U-turn. The spicy version of the breast is perfect for my hotter-the-better tastebuds, It was succlent and tasty. The potato salad, too was excellent. The sweet potato pie on the menu called out my name loud and clear. I couldn't wait until I arrived home to dive into my lunch. The pie was creamy and not overly seeet, the crust flakey. I even stopped at an Indi's in Louisville last week after my initial discovery. The only thing about Indi's that is fast, was the service. So, Indi's gamely makes my list of "$5.00 lunch gems" in Lexington.

Best fried chicken in town. Feel free to argue with me about their spicy wings. I believe theyre the best in Lexington. Their spicy chicken is ACTUALLY spiced. Writing this makes me want to drive up and get wings tonight!

The good: the food, the price, and the food. The bad: the wait time, the parking. The rundown: so I'm writing this off of a couple glasses of wine and some refrigerated leftovers. Their food is great! When it is warm, or scalding hot rather, or when it is cold. I would eat their chicken again and again. I have to say I like that their food only comes in mild or hot, no regular here. Fried chicken the way it is supposed to be. Anywho, their food is fantastic, albeit you have to wait a decent amount for your order to be filled even at lunch time, but it is worth it. The impression: considering this is down the street from where I work, I can say I will start frequenting here, regardless of all those delicious calories that I will be consuming.
