Overpriced, ill designed, bicycle hubs with poor warranty. Had my 1/1 and hydra rear hubs fail prematurely. Axle broke on both hubs after 2 years of use. Hub shell on the 1/1 completely failed and cracked. Replaced bearings twice in that time frame. As far as I understand the aluminum Hydra axle is designed to flex to allow the pawls to engage. The axle flexing at a sharp bearing journal corner is fundamentally a poor practice as it quickly leads to the aluminum work hardening and breaking. Disappointed that between the 1/1 and front/rear Hydra hubs, they use different size bearings sizes so you can't just stock 1 style $13 bearing. I9 hub owners are forced to stock multiple different $37 bearings to perform a service (which you will need to do frequently living in the PNW)... water ingress from the seals is an issue on these hubs. Brand new bearings installed before a 4 day 650km gravel trip and the bearings were rough and rust was to be found inside the pawl ring after the trip (it rained all 4 days). In conclusion, I had 1/1 rear hub shell completely cracked from the axle bending/breaking and the bearings/pawls compromised. I9's customer service offered me a 25% discount on the parts that needed to be replaced (axle, bearings, hub shell). Their offer, didn't cover 4 new bearings, 6 pawls, drive ring, new seals, just covered 25% off a new axle and hub shell. In my eyes that is a poor way to deal with a product defective even after 2 years of use. The axle design is a known issue with I9's hubs and should be dealt with a complete replacement hub. On a positive note, the engagement is impressive and it looks like their engineers are solving the axle stress points (with larger bearing journal radius and friction washer now).

Poorly engineered hubs, you can search online and see all the issues. Even bought a bearing drift set from them and it was packaged with two of the same drift and one missing. Sort of a joke that this is a popular brand in the mtb world.

These guys make fantastic products and know their stuff. My only regret is not buying new wheels and hubs sooner. It's a game changer. And the custom stem to match the hubs sets it off!

2 in 1 review. First off, I order a set of enduro 305v, got a call from i9 after order was made to inform me that wheels were out of stock, customer service was awesome. I decided to go with Trail280 carbon set with same design. Amazing engagement, extremely light wheelset @ 4lbs/ also purchased i9 stem A35 50mm in turquiose. Probably the heaviest piece on the bike beside the fork. But the quality in CNC work, clean and finish. Well worth the money, great piece to add to any mtb build.

I have had I9 wheels since 2012 and never had a problem until 2019 with my pink I9s on my Stumpy. After a few months, they started fading and reached out to I9, and they blamed my washing method, saying I use hard cleaners when I only use soap and water. After a few back and forth emails, I received an email from RICKY from the service department stating because of a changeover in THERE ANODIZING, they redid my wheels. In April of 2022, and we are in February now, my new gold rear one Hub has faded, and they once again tried to blame the way I clean them. Mind you, it's only the rear and not the front. I told them they tried to say the same last time and denied any changeover on the anodizing and thanks to technology I foward them the email from previous and they never responded to that and just sent me a new rear hub that now I have to pay 100dollars to have it replaced. I will never buy I9s again, unfortunately, and will let all my riding friends know as well.

I purchased a hydra hub that abruptly developed a problem around 250 miles in. I brought it to i9's attention and they worked with me to diagnose the problem as quickly as possible. After some investigation we found that the problem was caused by my own error. Totally my fault, I forgot to tighten down my through axel before a ride which caused the problem. I would like to point out that the hub was functioning perfectly before this point, sounds crazy! Anyways, the damage had been done, and 3 of the pawls and some teeth had significant damage to them. Since it was not a factory defect, I thought I was out a $450 hub because of my careless error. However, the service department didn't want to leave me hanging and sent me a brand new hub free of charge. The price of entry is expensive, but you get what you pay for. These hubs are world class and, the customer service, as you can see, is the best I've ever seen. Great to deal with a company that stands by its product and its customers.

I've got a set of i9 hydra's that had some premature wear on the bearings. Not ideal but i9 fully warrantied all parts same day as I got in touch sending them directly to my shop. Awesome product and sometimes things just wear a bit quick. But the customer service is exemplary and makes buying high end components from them full worth it.
