Why Kigali, Rwanda, Should Be More Than a Layover Before Your Gorilla Safari

"At the heart of Kigali’s artistic fervor is Inema Arts Centre, founded by brothers and painters Emmanuel Nkuranga and Innocent Nkurunziza. The gallery functions as the city’s artistic hub, housing a collective of 10 artists in residence, as well as hosting free art and dance classes for community youth. Contemporary sculpture, painting, and mixed media work speak to Rwanda’s past and present social climate."

Inspiring place - fully recommended to pay a visit. There is amazing art everywhere, kids rehearse local dances at afternoon and the vibe on Thursday happy hour is great. Hopefully will be back!

Very patient staff over there. I enjoyed my time there as I views art pieces that are related to what I’m studying in school.

Interesting art pieces made by the Rwandan youth. The 5 stars 🌟 are also definitely for the burundian guy who welcomes visitors. He was very polite and friendly, gave a nice introduction to the exhibits, and reminded people that the big dog at the entrance was friendly 😀 Also, they sell art tools. If you are looking for canvases and paint 🎨 pass by!

It is a wonderful space to explore art from the region. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly, offering insightful information about the various pieces and artists. The gallery itself showcases a wide range of vibrant, contemporary works. You can also buy pieces made by locals talking art classes here.

It is another one of the art centres in Kigali, focusing on local pieces of art. The place is on two floors and there is a very good collection to enjoy. However, their attitude in running the place should change. There is no entrance fee, but your donation amount is decided for you. It is not nice to tell the visitors that you have to pay $30 to take photos. The amount of donation should be left at the discretion of the visitor.
