The World’s Most Exhilarating Hotel Arrivals, From White Water Rafting to Skydiving into Your Lodging

"Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción also offers only one means of entrance: speed boat. Once there, 25 luxury cabanas and an abundance of adventure await—like the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, an eight-platform, seven-bridge path 100-feet above the ground."

Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción (Puerto Maldonado, Tambopata) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A lodge doesn’t get much deeper into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon than Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción. Accessible only by a scenic canoe ride from the nearby town of Puerto Maldonado — a 25-minute flight from Cusco — Hacienda Concepción puts you right in the thick of it, with all the excursions that entails, all led by skilled local guides. Five rooms occupy the main lodge, and another 25 cabanas offer a touch more privacy. While high-end luxuries are absent, the experience is comfortable, and totally immersive. It’s as eco-friendly and sustainable as can be, and the dining room serves dishes prepared with organic and local farm products." - Tablet Hotels

One of my favorite travel experience ever! Such a unique place. They truly provide 5 star service from the moment you step off of your plane. Everything during our 2 night stay was planned out perfectly, with just enough down time for us to add some extras in (we recommend the spa and drinks on the river!). The lodge is small enough that the staff knew us quickly and were able to accommodate all of our requests. Antonio was an amazing waiter and all of the meals were delicious and filling. Leon did a great job leading our excursions that allowed us to see and learn about all of the wildlife that the rainforest has to offer! The private cabanas were so nice, spacious, and even gave us front row views of the monkeys! Only complaint is that we wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a wonderful time at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. It was a seamless experience. They picked us up from the airport and everything was super efficient and organized. The staff are wonderful and super friendly. A special shout out to Janet our guide and Abner our server. They were both great and made the trip. We’d recommend spending the money to get a cabana. It’s definitely worth it.

This is a wonderful spot in the rainforest. The rooms were very comfortable and the grounds were wonderful. I saw several complaints in the prior reviews about the electricity being turned off throughout the day and overnight but that was part of the experience and is clearly explained on their website. Your stay includes 2 tours per day which are great. There are hikes through the rain forest (including an evening hike), canoe trips and a trip through the canopy across suspension bridges. Our guide, Alvero, knew everything about the vegetation and wildlife in the area and happily answered all of our questions. The food in the restaurant is excellent and our waiter, Antonio, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The only complaint I'd have is the lack of variety. You have 4 main course options at lunch and at dinner, but they are the same options every day.

Super place for a jungle experience. Considering you have to get there by boat and it’s in the jungle they keep the service very high quality. The excursions were brilliant, and can keep you busy the whole time if you want to. Food was great, everything clean and well run. Great place overall.

We had an amazing 3 nights here. All of the details are cared for. Rooms are serviced twice a day with turndown service. Umbrellas everywhere you can use to walk from room to main lodge or to the dock. We saw wild monkeys and birds and agouti from our cabana. The food was 10/10. We chose this hotel because when doing our research because they seemed more ethical than other lodges here - not exploiting animals or locals. It was a perfect stay!

We stayed here for three nights in May 2025. In fact, I think the previous reviews posted here this year sum up our experience very well. While I was definitely out of my comfort zone on at least several occasions during this visit, that is probably no harm! The Tower Climb, for example! This was definitely a truly immersive jungle experience insofar as our room was open to the stars! We were awoken to the most fantastic dawn sounds of the Howler Monkeys marking the start of another day. Eerie, until you know what it is! And even then! The food was superb with fresh healthy options at every meal. Hot and Cold. We were in a group with four Hungarian doctors who were great fun. We found the Dusk Treks particularly interesting as there is so much in the jungle that reveals itself under cover of darkness such as frogs, snakes and tarantulas. We also saw Bullet Ants and the highly industrious Leaf-Cutter Ants going about their business - and several caiman. We got up at 5am on several mornings hoping to see dozens of parrots indulge in a Clay Lick but they obviously had other plans those days! We did however witness a flock of macaws munching on a clay lick as we were leaving and that was a stunning wildlife spectacle. We were so lucky to have Josmel S as our guide. He is passionate and enthusiastic about his work - and excellent at it. His ability to mimic dozens of bird species is so impressive. Above all, he was endlessly patient. We covered well in excess of 10,000 steps each day. All the Inkaterra staff we met were charming, particularly Marie, who we met while trying to photograph butterflies! Finally, a shout out for the patient barman and his exquisite Banana Monkey cocktail!

We had simply the best time during our stay at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. We stayed for 3 nights/4 days. Our party of three had a cabana about a 3-minute walk from the main building. This is an immersive nature/jungle experience, and it lived up to its billing. Our cabana was comfortable and had all we needed. It was nice to be disconnected from our devices though there was good wifi in the main building when the power was on. We slept under mosquito nets and didn't have any issues with bugs/critters in our cabana. Sleeping immersed in the jungle darkness with all its noises was amazing as was waking up with the sun and birds. The meals were excellent, and lots of options for vegetarians. We were there on Christmas Eve and they had a wonderful local performance for us to enjoy together. All of our excursions were great, and our guide, Freddy, was VERY knowledgeable. Going on a trip with an expectation to see wildlife is always a gamble- we were very lucky and saw most of what we had hoped for, including a capybara on our night river excursion. Our guide did a great job on all our excursions explaining things and teaching us about what we were seeing. All of the staff were wonderful. ||If you are going to stay here, you need to realize it is remote and immersive in nature and may stretch you outside your comfort zone but, I believe, it is really worth it.

We enjoyed our visit there. Hotel/Lodge situated perfectly for the activities, clean, very friendly staff and decent guides. |As I don’t understand or speak Spanish I could have wished for better English skills. Its not that they don’t know the language they just don’t pronounce the words well enough. |Our guides (had 3) all had the knowledge and was eager to share but it was a little hard to catch it all.|The only excursion that I was not really satisfied with was the one to the “botanical garden”. The garden was not very well maintained.|The other excursion we were on was good, can’t fault anyone for not being able to see the Unicorn with these kinds of events then sometimes you see all the animals you could wish for other times not.|So if you want to be sure to see the Elephant go to the Zoo.||We stayed in the main building which had the advantage that the internet reached the room. |Lights out/ electricity off at certain hours was brilliant as it made nighttime quiet and dark, only nature to make noise.
