On the Grid : Inkwood Books

"Inkwood Books is Tampa's only full-service independent book store. Quaint and kitschy, situated in an old bungalow-style home, Inkwood Books is where you want to go to lose some time and lazily read the titles among the shelves. It's the kind of place that makes you "feel good" for spending your money there - there's nothing like shopping local." - Spark

The best local bookstore around! Great selection, plus great community events. Staff are super friendly. They always have new releases and popular books, plus you can order basically any book online. Seriously a local gem and cornerstone of the community.

This is a cute little bookstore with a focus on newer, bookish trends, especially those popular on BookTok. The selection is decent, but it’s still on the smaller side. Right now, it seems heavily focused on YA, which is great for fans of that genre, but I hope they expand into other genres in the future. The romance and fiction section is a bit lacking, and the horror section is limited mostly to Stephen King. I had a hard time finding much in the way of fantasy. That being said, it's still a good spot to check out if you're in the neighborhood.

Favorite bookstore. Point blank period. I may live 1.5 hours away, but they get the credit they deserve. My boyfriend turned me onto them, and they truly have the best selection of books.

Visiting Inkwood was a delight, and well worth the short trip from Philadelphia. It's obvious the owner and employees put a lot of energy and heart into creating a cozy, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere full of hand-selected literature picks and other fun items. Thank you for doing what you guys do. We'll definitely be back again soon!

This independent bookstore is on the lovely main road in Haddonfield and is the perfect place to drop in before or after a meal or coffee at one of the many surrounding (also small) businesses. They had a nice selection of a variety of genres, and I really liked the children's section, which was partially divided by ages group/reading level (which is helpful for clueless aunties like myself). One of my favorite things about indie bookshops is their bookish gifts/swag, and Inkwood has this in spades. I also enjoyed the staff recommendations throughout the store.

Google
Such a wonderful and cozy bookstore to go to! They have a great selection of books and if a book isn't on the shelf, the booksellers don't hesitate to order it for you. Anytime I'm in the area, I make a point to go to Inkwood even if I don't plan to buy anything just because of how comfortable it feels to be inside.

Google
An absolute gem to the community! They always have a great selection to choose from in store & you can even purchase booking online for pick up which is such a convenience. It’s such a plus that they also give back to the community by partaking in so many local events. I hope to see them continue to have successful business for years to come!!

Yelp
I love living in a town with an independent bookstore. I love coming here and supporting them as much as I can. This is a small space right on the Main Street of Haddonfield, and they have tons of different books. You're sure to find something here that you enjoy, and if not they can order it for you. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They have a frequent buyers club which is free to sign up for. I will definitely be back, especially as the holidays approach and I look to support local businesses when I buy presents for people.

Yelp
Wanted to support a local bookstore but I wont be coming back to this particular one. They were rude to me in the store, everyone that I've spoken to on the phone since has been unhelpful and not had a positive attitude. purchased a book over 3 weeks ago that was supposed to be shipped to my address and they failed to include the apartment number with my order. I never received my book and when I called to get the matter resolved they claimed I never gave them my apartment number and refused to offer further assistance. I'm sure there are other local bookstores that I can find in the Haddonfield/Collingswood area that are actually kind to their customers and if they are unable to help are at least sympathetic. I will not come back here again

Yelp
One of my favorite bookstores to visit. Super friendly staff with plenty of local authors. I stop in every time I'm visiting Haddonfield, and purchase at least 1 book every time. My wife says you can't go wrong with Jen's Picks.

Yelp
I loves me a good bookstore, especially independent ones that are small and cozy. Nice mix of best-sellers in hardcovers and paperbacks, as well as stationary. You can always ask for help ordering things if you can't find what you need. There's also a nice selection of children's books if you are looking for a gift for toddlers.

Yelp
rly cute & unique lil shop. popped in here a few months ago and got a wooden bookmark with a NJ cutout in it. I sent it to my friend who moved to TX along with a book I got there. staff was friendly and willing to give book recommendations.

Yelp
We love this bookstore! My boyfriend and I are always visiting bookstores (vacations, dates, weekends) and this is one of the most charming we have found. While it may be small, it's guaranteed that I will find a great new book every time! The staff is also lovely and friendly. They keep the store well stocked with new books, participate in small town events, and have unusual book related gifts (art, candles). The store layout is cozy and surprising as well. They have a "reading nook" tucked in the wall filled with cushions and the kids section is the entire back room of the store! I love it as an adult and I can only imagine how much kids must like it. I highly recommend everyone visit the Haddonfield Main Street in general but make sure to stop in here too- their door is always open.

Yelp
Inkwood Books is an adorable little book store in Haddonfield, NJ. They are very involved in the community and love to support the local schools. I have been in their store many, many times and I always find a book to enjoy. Inkwood also has other book related items that are perfect for gifts! The owner and staff also make recommendations on certain marked books. If you are looking for something specific, be sure to ask and whoever is there will be happy to help! I have never had a negative experience with anyone in Inkwood, they always exceed my expectations in kindness and helpfulness. Inkwood has an extensive collection of books for how small the store is, and they also have a children's section in the back. I have heard they are moving across the street in March or April of 2020. So be on the lookout for their new location, but they told me it was about 100 feet away, so not a huge move! I love this store and I am so happy that they are doing so well that they have decided to move to a bigger location. I can't wait to go back and find my next book.

Yelp
In an effort to be a more conscious consumer I have been trying to purchase my books from independent bookstores like Inkwood as opposed to a very large, very convenient online retailer. However, I have started to cherish my tradition of visiting Inkwood and browsing the staff recommendations, hearing about local happenings, and discussing my latest read with staff members. On my most recent visit, I shared a few books I had enjoyed in the past with a staff member and she provided a perfect book recommendation that I would never have considered otherwise. Inkwood has made an effort to expand beyond its role as simply a bookstore and serve as a community hub for all things literary by hosting book clubs, book signings, and children's book read alouds. It is easy to spend an hour here without realizing any time has past as you peruse books, candles, and everything in between. It is certainly tempting to order books from previously described retailer, but I urge you to give Inkwood a chance! You may find that the sense of community gained here is worth the extra cost.

Yelp
I've visited this shop in more than a few occasions because I live within blocks if it. There is a solid selection in various categories, complete with a children's book room in the back. Between the adorable gifts, mix of classics and current hot picks, and the cute little reading nook in the back of the store, I can see why this place is a local favorite. I'm impressed that so much is there without the store feeling jam packed. Everything is easily accessible and laid out quite nicely. Unfortunately for me, I'm still waiting for the service piece to match. I can't say that I've walked away yet feeling that I've received the best this place has to offer on that front. Which is a shame because that's the missing link between me loving it.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! Inkwood books is the exact kind of book store you want in your town. Rather than a cold corporate chain, Inkwood is a warm, locally owned and operated business nestled right into thriving downtown Haddonfield. The owner Julie is very knowledgeable about books and is passionate about bringing a quality product to her customers. In addition to selling books, her shop hosts meet and greets and other events like story times and recently even put on a cozy concert. I always get my books from Inkwood, from big, serious adult books like Mary Beard's SPQR to kids books, of which they have plenty in their children's section in the back. I love living so close to a great resource like Inkwood!

Yelp
It's great to have a new independent bookstore in town. Inwood Books is small but has a choice selection. They host signings and events, I see, though I have not attended any. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. A good experience -- and you will find a book to read.

Yelp
This bookstore is amazing. Fantastic selection, cute atmosphere. I love the personal service - if you don't know what you're looking for they will help you choose based on your tastes. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I love the book clubs too. Children's area is cute. A must visit.
