In an effort to be a more conscious consumer I have been trying to purchase my books from independent bookstores like Inkwood as opposed to a very large, very convenient online retailer. However, I have started to cherish my tradition of visiting Inkwood and browsing the staff recommendations, hearing about local happenings, and discussing my latest read with staff members. On my most recent visit, I shared a few books I had enjoyed in the past with a staff member and she provided a perfect book recommendation that I would never have considered otherwise. Inkwood has made an effort to expand beyond its role as simply a bookstore and serve as a community hub for all things literary by hosting book clubs, book signings, and children's book read alouds. It is easy to spend an hour here without realizing any time has past as you peruse books, candles, and everything in between. It is certainly tempting to order books from previously described retailer, but I urge you to give Inkwood a chance! You may find that the sense of community gained here is worth the extra cost.
