Michigan Has a Growing Wine Scene, Thanks to Climate Change - AFAR

"A countryside inn tied to a multi-site winery that lets guests immerse themselves in vineyard surroundings and book experiential outings such as a private sail on the nearby bay, combining on-site hospitality with access to tasting and touring opportunities across the peninsulas." - Alexandra Gillespie

This was our first time visiting Black Star Farms Inn and it was a lovely experience! We were celebrating our anniversary as in the past in the Traverse City area and decided to try someplace new. The rooms, food, ambiance and personal attention were amazing. The staff friendly and helpful. The Inn and grounds are beautiful. We didn’t do any wine tastings in the winery onsite and the onsite restaurant was closed while we were there during weekdays.

If you are looking for the perfect place to stay, this is your place! David our host was fantastic! The social hour was a wonderful blend of small bites, wine, and conversation. Breakfast was chef driven yumminess. The bed was perfection in itself, some comfortable. The cons were: low pressure in the shower, and there was no coffee upstairs. Granted we are not early risers. We will be back and this time not wait 5 years.

This is a favorite of ours! Beautiful grounds, great location between Traverse city and Suttons bay, a wonderful suite we stay in that is on the first floor. Also, it's just like home from the demeanor of the Inn Keeper to access to all areas including the library and pub, with plush leather seating and decor reminiscent of a classic fox hunting lodge. Breakfasts are special and delicious. Wine tasting room next door, grapes growing alongside, view of the horse pasture and great walking trails. What more could you want??!

Great location near many great restaurants and wineries. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the rooms were very clean and cozy, there were trails to walk and explore and the chef made incredible meals for us. I would definitely urge you to go and experience this lovely inn.

My husband and I stayed here for three night and were in the larger room above the kitchen. Everything was nice and comfortable. We had a complimentary bottle of wine, however, the label had a different couples name on it. There are chefs preparing breakfast in a commercial kitchen. This is where things were uneven. The wait time for being served was long. Every day was a different chef. The dishes weren't traditional. One day was poached eggs with short ribs. It was too rich for me to finish.

The Inn at Black Star Farms was a great choice for a place to spend some days up in the Traverse City area! The staff were incredibly helpful and personable, the rooms are great, and the views are worth everything. The best part about the Inn really is the staff though. They are friendly and professional and greeted us by name making you feel more like you're staying with friends than just being another customer to come through their doors. We will definitely be staying here again.
