What a gem. We usually stay in a different part of the city but many reviews listed the air conditioning and the place looked clean and had ample parking. When we arrived we were thrilled. Yes the air conditioning is excellent and you control it yourself but the space is so comfortable and cheery. There was 24 hour tea and coffee, and they were quality tea and coffee. The young woman who checked us in was a delight. The location is brilliant. We took a ride share to and from the Moda center and the trip was quick and affordable.

After spending time here July 2024, my family voted to come back for July 2025. It did not disappoint. The staff is so helpful, the location is ideal, and it is one of my overall favorite hotels that I have ever stayed at. We plan to be back again next summer.

Google
As someone who used to live in this neighborhood - the location is perfect. Love that it is walking distance from most good restaurants and right near the street car. The room was much bigger than expected, bed was large and comfortable, and it even included a full kitchen with stove. The staff were friendly and made it very easy to extend our stay one night. It’s a great deal for the price and we would definitely stay again.

Great location, lots of wonderful restaurants and shops nearby within easy walking distance. Have stayed here several times, always very clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. We also love the free parking and reasonable room rates. Comfortable beds.

Google
Location, location, location! The Inn at Northrup Station is highly reviewed and recommended by Tripadvisor Forum experts for a reason! We enjoyed a comfortable stay with plenty of space in the room with a sitting area separate from the sleeping area. This hotel is in a terrific area to walk around to restaurants and shops and at all times, we felt safe and comfortable at this location. Breakfast is basic - some pastries, breads, juices and coffee/tea. The staff were really helpful with tips on parking at sightseeing locales like the Pittock Mansion and Japanese Gardens and also provided public transit access passes to explore the city of Portland, which were helpful to get to Powell's Books and the Pearl District. They even advised on areas to avoid/be cautious around late at night. The front desk was helpful with storing our luggage after we checked-out so we could continue exploring downtown Portland along the waterfront.

Google
Brightly colored fun decor that is a spin on most hotels. Friendly and helpful staff. Larger rooms with a fridge, stove, sink, and microwave. Good location. Take the street car to go exploring and walk on 23rd st. The hotel will give you tickets to ride for 2.5 hrs free. Otherwise it's only $2.

Google
Love this hotel, so many cool details and great decor. We had such a comfortable two day stay here. The desk in the room was perfect to work from, great breakfast, lots of fresh fruit. The location is perfect, the neighborhood is so cute with cool shops and restaurants all around. We were able to walk everywhere we needed too including our climbing gym. Great first impression of Portland and I won’t stay anywhere else when I return. Thank you Inn at Northrup!

Google
I really liked this hotel and can understand why it's received so many positive reviews. I appreciated the free parking and enjoyed their complimentary breakfast, which was very similar to what you would receive from a European hotel. The staff was also very friendly. ||The only reason I've rated this hotel four stars instead of five is because of their housekeeping service policy. I was told when I checked in that they only provide housekeeping service "every other night." I realize that a lot of hotels have cut back on this type of service, however, because I was staying for four nights, Tuesday- Saturday, my room was only cleaned on Thursday. I would have preferred it if they had cleaned the room on Wednesday and Friday instead. ||Portland was experiencing a heat wave during my stay, so I'm glad my room had an air conditioner, but it was old and noisy. ||Finally, I'd recommend requesting a room on the second or third floor that faces the back as the slight noise from the occasional street cars passing by can be annoying. | |Despite the few issues I had, I would stay here again.

Yelp
Such a great experience there! They have free parking in the back. Prices were reasonable and there was a delicious coffee machine in the lobby with (flavored!) creamers. Teas were local and their "continental" breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts (continental or not) that I had due to the ease of convenience of many grab and go items which fit my schedule well. Good location too. Room was very spacious with a whole kitchen and was quite comfortable.

Yelp
Definitely was a little skeptical of staying here. So glad we did as it was such a great little spot. Perfect location close to a lot of coffe shops, restaurants and Trader Joe's. This side of Portland was nicer and we were able to walk around the neighborhood that was full of beautiful buildings and tons of blooming cherry blossoms trees. Yes, the hotel is very colorful and bright. It's not your traditional boring neutral color pallet but that wouldn't work here. So, actually, this hotel fits right in. I appreciate all the color and funky vibes it brings. Rooms are spacious. Love the kitchen with full size oven, dishwasher and fridge! There is also a garbage disposal in the sink. This place has all the comforts of home. The beds are very comfortable. The pull out couch isn't so bad either. The kids didn't seem to mind. We all slept well with the blackout curtains. Highly recommend staying here. Even comes with a continental breakfast. And fruits available in the lobby. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.also, very friendly staff! Only improvement would be to add a gym and self laundry. That would make it 5 stars.

Yelp
Inn at Northrup looks like apartments, blending in with the neighborhood. The front desk people are very helpful and were all smiles. Parking is free for registered guests. This is a small inn with good use of space. The decor is trendy including the elevator I love the rooftop patio! The furniture is comfortable and fun. This location is quite walkable with restaurants a block away. I recommend this inn for travelers who want a more neighborhood experience.

Yelp
We stayed one night at the Inn at Northrup Station. Since I booked through the hotel, joining their free Inn Crowd program, they provided a welcome gift. I interacted with four different staff members during my visit, and all of them were helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and included a sitting area. There was a kitchen area with a microwave, mini fridge and dishwasher. The beds were very comfortable, and six pillows were provided on each bed. The amenities made this hotel very affordable. On site parking is included. Tickets to use Streetcar (for 2.5 hours) are provided. The hotel is located in a nice part of town and close to many restaurants and coffee shops. Since we stayed on a Monday, we were given coupons to Breakside Brewery where we both enjoyed a free pint of beer with our meal. They provided a continental breakfast that was quite extensive, including gluten-free bed. Their coffee/tea bar is the best. The coffee is ground fresh and made to your liking. The only down side that I can see would be the squeaky floors in the hallway and if there were noisy guests. We did not experience this. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief day and plan to return in the future.

Yelp
I loved everything about my stay, but just like previous reviewers mentioned - walls are paper thin. I could hear absolutely everything in the neighboring rooms and the hallway. Other than that - I loved how friendly and helpful the staff was. Design f the whole hotel is very vibrant. It could be tacky somewhere else, but they did everything in the same style, so it worked great. Cute hotel/train logos everywhere, colorful walls, artwork. The room was like a condo with a nice kitchen, work table, 2 TVs, sofas, coffee table. It could be a great place for a staycation or a work trip as you can have a nice work station in your room. Assuming you can mentally block all the noise.

Yelp
Best hotel bed I've ever slept in!! I love all the little amenities, like makeup wipes, q tips, etc. But the star of the show is the spacious room with a full kitchen! Including a dishwasher! I love all the color throughout the hotel. Did I mention the bed?! Because I did not want to get out of it.

Yelp
I give The Inn at Northrup Station 2 out of 5 rating and here is why. * The hotel has very noisy. We have been subjected to listening to every word of conversations through the adjoining door from the room next door as well as guest partying in the parking area well past midnight. * The hotel housekeeping is understaffed. On more than one occasion, we had been out all day and come back only to find that our room had not been refreshed. * The bathrooms were not clean. Our bathroom not only had a fair amount of mold in the bathtub, but there was also the presence of ants. * The air-conditioning system was so loud, we were forced to turn it off completely. * The breakfast buffet once provided waffles and an egg option, but no more. As much as we have enjoyed the location of this hotel an it's proximity to wonderful stores and great restaurants, we will not stay here again.

Yelp
Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping! Clean, contemporary, fun, and friendly environment with adequate parking for visitors. All you can drink coffee and hot cocoa are available in the lobby. The continental breakfast includes self-serve and packed juices, milk, fresh fruit, cereal, and yogurt. Bagels, English muffins, and toast are available at the front desk then you can toast them in your room. The hotel has an outdoor roof top patio where we ate breakfast every morning and enjoyed late night drinks and snacks at night. The rooms have everything you need to stay comfortable: sink, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, glasses, and utensils.

Yelp
We stayed 3 nights at Inn @ Northrup about a month ago. While I will say it had some positives, for the most part it was my least favorite hotel we stayed in on our roadtrip. The good: - They have parking! We were able to park in their lot for our 3 night stay (huge bonus) - They have lot of extras included in your rate (like the streetcar passes, a free craft beer at a local brewery and I think they had a wine night or something similar). - Breakfast is included (although we never did eat it, it looked like your normal hotel breakfast with bagels and what not). - The rooms all have a full kitchen including a Keurig coffee machine and ice machine in the freezer. - The rooms have a couch and desk also (plus TVs, although not all operational) - Beds were firm, but comfortable. - Front desk people were mostly helpful and friendly. The not great: - The walls are paper thin and we heard our upstairs neighbor and people in the hallway constantly. - It is decorated very vibrantly and modern, but it has seen better days (translation, it is old and worn). The exception to this is the kitchen which seemed in good working order and very shiny. - The bathroom really needed re-caulked and maybe re-tiled. Lots of mysterious black stuff going on in there. Not to mention it caves in in the middle of the tub (really awkward to stand in). - The toilet faces the bed. Literally if you are on the bed and your partner doesn't shut the door - expect to get a perfect view. They also have a mirrored wall behind the toilet (which I found distracting in bed) but you can't close the door to get away from the mirror as the door is mirrored! - The bed was literally a couple steps from the door (so you get all the hallway noise). - It boasts 2 TVs (one in the living/kitchen area and one in the bedroom). However, our bedroom TV did not work and the front desk guy said it was "no big deal" because our other one did. My problem is that the other one is across the room and I literally could barely see it or hear it from the bed (which is the only place I wanted to watch TV). All the TVs are flat screens, but not HD - they are very old. The neighborhood was nice. I loved being so close to the streetcar. It worked, but I don't know that it was quite what I expected for the price.

Yelp
My husband and I first starting staying at Inn at Northrup Station in October 2022. We have been back 4 time since then. We absolutely love it! Every time we have been we have a an excellent experience. Comfy bed and pillows, spacious rooms, excellent customer service from all employees we have encountered, super convenient location, free parking and continental breakfast. We cannot recommend this place enough! We always look forward to our stay here.

Yelp
We have found our home away from home when we visit Portland. I cannot think of a hotel that fits our needs better, anywhere. While not luxurious, who really needs those frills, Inn at Northrup Station has everything a person needs while visiting. Being older, our needs surpass most. The rooms are large, with full kitchens. Our king bed was comfortable, and with chairs, desks, a couch, there's always a place to sit to enjoy the two televisions. Location is amazing, restaurants, bars, shops galore, but real, not touristy. The Inn is in a Portland neighborhood, in a city that treasures neighborhoods. Service works hard, and is gracious. The funky design reminds me of the original Kimpton hotels, before they became corporate. Colorful and quirky, the Inn at Northrup Station represents the bohemian soul of Portland. I loved our stay. We will be back.

Kyler M.

Yelp
2 stars only because the management was very understanding and accommodating by letting me out of my stay early since I got absolutely ripped off. This place is cheaper than a best western and you're charging $200 a night like who on earth do y'all think you are ???
google avatar

Yelp
The walls aren't thin (as other reviews say) but the floor/ceiling is. Request a room on the 3rd (top floor) to minimize noise. The even-numbered rooms face the street and the odd-numbered rooms face the parking lot, some trees, and a backyard. Breakfast gets crowded closer to 9am, when it closes but they didn't run out of anything. Pretty good for a typical hotel continental breakfast. The coffee is strong and delicious. Great location in a quiet area of the city but walkable to restaurants, shops, and the streetcar. The streetcar is cheap and you even get one free pass when you check in. The rooftop patio is perfect for taking a moment to yourself, eating carryout with your crew, or socializing over a beer.

Yelp
This place is super cute and may be my new favorite Portland hotel. I always come by car, so I need a place with parking that isn't an additional huge fee. Once I get to Portland though I prefer to stay parked and walk or use public transportation. This place is on the street car line and comes with 2 free street car passes per day (each good for 2.5 hours). I also tend to seek out hotels that include coffee and breakfast as this an added bonus. The breakfast here wasn't spectacular, but I was happy to find things like soy milk, apple sauce, kiwis and granola bars. My partner enjoyed the cheese and hard boiled eggs. The communal dining area is a bit small and we did have one morning where the staff rushed everyone out, but we were done anyhow. We were really sad we arrived too late for the Thursday night Hoppy Hour beer tasting. The price we paid was really reasonable, not sure if we got a special or not, but I did find you could save money by booking directly on their website. The room itself was huge with 2 tvs and a full kitchen. I mostly come to Portland to eat, so I didn't take a ton of advantage of this, but it's good to know it's available if you need it or at the very least to be able to reheat up and refrigerate your left overs. I also found the shampoo and conditioner to be higher quality than most. We could hear our neighbors slightly thru the adjoining door, but it didn't become too much of a problem. I also really liked the focus on places that you could exercise nearby and that my room had a yoga mat in it. I will definitely consider staying here again on my next visit. I'd love to check out the rooftop in the summer.

Yelp
Quirkly little place tucked into a Portland neighborhood. Very quiet and clean. The free breakfast had a good selection of breads and cereals although the coffee wasn't great. Would stay here again.

Yelp
With an excellent location in the Pearl right on the trolley line, the Inn at Northrup Station checked every box for us. Large rooms (all suite hotel), very clean, colorful decor, very comfortable beds, high quality bed linens and towels, on site free parking, friendly staff, and easy walk to numerous restaurants and coffeehouses. Reasonably priced. Recommended to us by a local to whom we are much indebted.

Magdalena A.

Yelp
We can't say enough about the Inn. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. The front desk staff was super accommodating, Breakfast choices were varied and there was fresh ground coffee available all day. What can be better? Plus, we availed ourselves of the vouchers for two local restaurants---both the winery and brewery were great! We look forward to a return visit.

Shawn M.

Yelp
Fun, hip, chic hotel in the eclectic Slabtown neighborhood of NW Portland. Sizeable room, fantastic breakfast and 24hr coffee station. Very friendly staff provided lots of great info about the area and the city in general. Complimentary streetcar tickets, brewpub pints, and glasses of wine were much appreciated. Our first time in Portland and we'e pleased with the great location of this hotel: fresh, revived, and up and coming with lots of young professionals out walking their dogs or heading home after a workout or yoga. Had no problem letting our 14-year-old walk back to the hotel on his own while we stopped for a drink.

Yelp
This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The staff has been so helpful and kind to us. Not to mention, the absolutely perfect room. This is the first hotel I have gotten a full nights rest at. The pillows are thick and soft, the blankets aren't stiff, the AC works wonders, and the curtains keep things dark in the morning. There is also a 'kitchen' which adds a bit of comfort to this space. May I also add that the artistic value of this hotel is insane. By far the most colorful, comfortable, and clean Inn.
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
This hotel should considered a motel. There is no one to help with things. Most importantly, the rooms are not clean. There was mold around the faucet and I asked four times to have it cleaned. It never happened.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here for 3 nights. The location is convenient to many many restaurants and shopping. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple -cereals, bagels and English muffins, Tillamook yogurts, milk (even chocolate!), fruit (fresh), cheeses, and fresh coffee at all times. Free parking. Nice towels. Convenient to streetcar system.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Inn for four nights. The location was perfect, close to restaurants and breweries. The streetcar stop is right outside, so it was an easy ride downtown. Downtown doesn't have the liveliest vibe so I am glad we stayed in the Northrup area as originally, I had considered a few downtown hotels. Also found the staff helpful, and the manager gave great suggestions + tips that were useful for the Columbia Gorge sightseeing. Breakfast was a lot better than the usual continental fare with lots of options, including Tillamook Cheese and Yogurt, Bagels, Cereal, and Chocolate milk. The coffee was surprisingly good, and I didn't have to go out to get any from cafes. The parking was free however the lot gets filled up pretty quickly. We did find parking - the last spot on one of the days. Thought I might use the kitchen, but the food in Portland is amazing so it didn't happen. It is nice, though, to have that option to cook for a longer stay. The bed was also extremely comfortable, and our room was quiet toward the back of the hotel.

Yelp
I love this hotel. I always stay here when visiting Portland. It's in a very nice neighborhood, no busy streets. just a short 3 blocks to a Starbucks and some nice restaurants. It's quiet and the folks that run it are so very nice. The rooms are very well maintained and the top floor rooms are very spacious and have kitchenettes. i wouldn't stay anywhere else in Portland
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great two night stay. Friendly staff. It is very clean and has fun Decor. Our room had a microwave, fridge, dishwasher and plates/silverware. There was a couch and chair and two TVs. Beds are comfy and nice linens. We had a balcony. It was quiet. We faced the parking lot. If you face the street you will hear the street car. The breakfast included: hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, cheese, milk, cereal, oatmeal and FRESH apples, pears, oranges and bananas. There is a complimentary coffee machine and tea bags. It is walking distance to many restaurants. FREE parking in attached lot. I highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
Honestly the best hotel I stayed at on my trip. Friendly service at the Front Desk, and didn't have to wait too long to check in. The room was LOVELY and well appointed. From the full kitchen, to the patio, to the unique color scheme, the room was vibrant and welcoming. It was located near all of the right things, and the price was totally fair for the offerings they provided. Honestly all of the hotels I stayed at on my Tour paled in comparison to this one, to the point that the next time I stay in Portland, this hotel will be my first pick! Plus the design is so cute! I think if you enjoy funky aesthetics and excellent accommodations, this hotel should be one to consider!

Yelp
This is a tough one since I know how hard this place tries to create a superlative experience for their guests. The bag of Starbursts delighted me and the bright colors were refreshing. We got a room with a kitchen, which was cool at first, but the TV (of which there is only one) is in the dining area and you can't watch it from the bed and can only barely see it from the living area. Then the chairs from which you might have wanted to watch the TV while you eat(?) are facing away from the TV. Not set up for convenience or comfort. The bed was wildly uncomfortable and hot with fluffy pillows that were also very uncomfortable and unsupportive. Under normal circumstances, I would've been in Portland out getting drunk and not caring about any of this stuff, but I spent the whole evening IN the room and found it difficult to get comfortable.

Yelp
The hotel staff were great. I stayed for 3 days. As for the rest of the inn... You will hear EVERYTHING. The walls are paper thin, you'll hear your neighbors conversations- unfortunately I heard a whole lot more than that. It seems my neighbors didn't realize that you could hear a silent fart in the building. They did the deed multiple times in the middle of the night till early morning hours. I'm glad people were having fun but not at the expense of being woken up multiple times. It seems their bed was directly on the other side of ours and every moan, bed squeak, the clapping noise (ugh) and banging against the wall was right on our heads. They either checked out the next morning or were spent because the next night was much more peaceful, otherwise I would have asked to change rooms. I heard every creaky/stomping footstep from the hallways and every creaky step from my upstairs neighbor. If you're staying here for peace and quiet- you probably won't get it if you have anyone on either side or on top of you. I had a balcony but unfortunately I didn't read the guest policies beforehand- premises is completely smoke/vape free, which is understandable given the law. Won't fault the hotel for that but figured I'd drop it here for anyone else that might care to know. Other than that the inn was clean enough, I just figure for the price and their site boasting their revamp by an architect it would be better than a motel 6 but it really wasn't all that great in comparison. Cute decor but I'd much rather have good quality floors and walls.

Yelp
Great place to stay in this post COVID environment where the high end hotels chains are failing at service. For the sanity of my family I need to eat early so the breakfast was great and included gluten free bread which was amazing for me. The hotel offers all these perks to other places and had great staff. The room provides kitchen which was great and you can tell is renovated from a likely very unattractive old apartments or hotel so the bathroom is average. I see complaints about noise but I thought it was less than other places and people really should have earplugs versus unrealistic expectations.
google avatar

Yelp
What makes this hotel unique? The style! It reminded me of the jetsons xD futuristic yet retro. The rooms come with a kitchen where it's fully stocked with all the supplies you need! The living room area is also great for relaxing and has a spinning chair ;D my husband loved the shower, good water pressure and relaxing. Beds are very comfortable and room was quiet. A little rumble from the street car but I found it comforting... (I don't like rooms too silent) speaking of street car! They offer complimentary tickets to ride it which takes you all over Portland. I also loved their breakfast! A lot of local brands like Tillamook they offered. Personable service! Will definitely stay again :D
google avatar

Malia A.

Yelp
What crazy and very interesting decor they have. Overall... I would come back again, except for the fact that there is no washer or dryer. I need to have a washer and dryer if I am staying more than 3 days haha! That is the only negative thing I have had to say about this inn. Everything else was wonderful! The customer service was excellent. The breakfast to go menu was full of variety. They had many different breads, bagels, English muffins, fruits, yogurt, juice, milk, cereal, oatmeals, granola bars, applesauce, and of course, coffee! In fact, they have the best coffee machine by far in any inn I have been to. I seriously visited this machine atleast 4 times throughout the day. Parking for one car is also included, a big plus when staying in this location. Definitely will be back!!!

Yelp
Stayed here at the end of summer for 5 nights during a family vacation. Enjoyed our stay- our room has two queen beds, desk, sofa, 2 TVs, and microwave, dishwasher, and fridge. It was quite spacious- the decor is pretty funky with green velvet sofa and orange arm chair. It was nice that there is free parking and WIFI. We didn't have a hard time finding a parking spot but always came back by early afternoon. The lobby has two coffee machines and tea or hot chocolate packets as well as water and ice tea. There is also fruit like apple, bananas, oranges, kiwis, and peaches to snack on if you get hungry. Breakfast in the morning had yogurt, cheese, boiled egg, milk, juice, and make your own pancake or toast/bagel. The kids also can get cereal, apple sauce, or granola bars. Pretty good variety but by the end it gets tiring so we opted to go out for donuts. We tried to go to movie night Monday but it was an old movie on a small TV screen so not worth it. Did grab then popcorn and concession candy to enjoy back at the room. Didn't get to attend the beer or wine happy hours. Does provide 2 street car tickets per day valid for 2.5hrs - considered but never tried it because it takes so much longer than just driving directly. Area was nice - can walk to restaurants and Salt and Straw. Feels pretty safe and did not see any homeless people on the street. Has a Moroccan restaurant very close by with good reviews but didn't think we could bring our young kids in. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
What a lovely hotel in a walkable boutique part of town (which is beginning to feel like "old Portland"). For about $250 a night, you can get basically a studio apartment. This would be the place to stay if you're in town for a conference, where you would like to cook a few meals at home, get some work done, and feel a bit pampered. There is so much attention to detail and colorful comforts. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that the coffee is pretty awful and so are the bagels. I did suggest an improvement to the latter to the front desk person, who sort of shrugged it off, but this touch would really make a difference. Everything else in this hotel is designed to be really local, high quality, and unexpected, so why not this as well?
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Nice hotel with a convenient location for the work I come to Portland for. Quirky place with a neon color palette and lots of unique extras. Monday is movie night and they have starbursts and an etch-a-sketch drawing of the inn at the front desk. Also love that the rooms have full kitchens in suite and patios. Downsides, their breakfast is pretty cookie cutter hotel continental. I would love to see healthier and fresher options. Also, no gym/fitness center which often makes me chose another hotel.
google avatar

Yelp
The only thing I regret is I don't live outside of Portland so I could visit and stay here more! The King Suite was roomy and fun for me and my friends who I booked for. Don't overlook this gem!
google avatar

Jenna H.

Yelp
Obviously the funky colorful decor attracted me to this place. However there's more to it! The room functioned like a home in the queen suite, room 109. The kitchenette has dishes in the cupboards, a dishwasher, toaster, microwave, fridge n freezer, everything you'd need! There's a great rooftop set- up to BBQ on, though it's closed for COVID right now. Nice amenities!

Yelp
I absolutely love the rooms and the staff at this hotel. Stayed for a few days whilst back in town from Costa Rica and it's nice to have a full kitchen I could comfortably heat up left overs and make coffee in. I would recommend this hotel over any others in Portland.

Yelp
I HIGHLY recommend this fun, colorful, great location in Nob Hill. My 2 nephews and I were traveling thru Oregon from a hike in Southern part and wanted to stay in Portland area (en route back to Washington) so I had originally had called to stay at The Hamptons. I wasn't sure how close to the dangerous protests and camping ground the Hamptons was by. I did pass thru the homeless/protestors campground by a couple blocks. In front of the Hamptons, I asked if there was a hotel garage. The valley said it costs $40 to park in the hotel garage!!? Otherwise the street parking is known for car break ins!? With this info. And considering my precious cargo, my nephews that I wanted to keep safe, I looked up a better hotel, in a safer area, Nob Hill, that doesn't charge to park in its own private parking: Inn at Northrup Station. Here at the Inn at Northrup Station was perfect! It is a boutique hotel that is colorful, cute with artistic details, a friendly and down to earth staff, a bright, colorful and fun rooftop sitting area where we ate our breakfast and watched the quiet tram go by. My nephews kept gushing how much they thought this hotel was "so awesome!". Its also near a walking street full of great outdoor seating restaurants. We walked about 5 blocks to Sansai Sushi and it was really good! I'm so glad we didn't stay at the Hampton with its dangerous location and over charges. And I HIGHLY recommend you stay here at the Inn at Northrup Station.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. My BF and I stayed here for 3 nights. For the cost, I honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot, but this ended up being one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at. The decor is kinda weird and funky, but I love the fact that all the rooms are studios and you get your own fully stocked kitchen (utensils, cookware, keurig, microwave, full sized fridge, stove, dishwasher, etc). They also offer free parking, which was extremely nice and convenient on the day we rented a car. The other days when we didn't have a car, the hotel gave us free street car passes to get around. The staff members were all super friendly and helpful as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
We have stayed here three times now. The biggest draw -- it's pretty inexpensive and you get a full kitchen, not that we ever cook or do anything like that while on vacation. But having the full-size fridge and microwave are extremely convenient. Other highlights: * Sleeper sofa in suite: This came in handy when traveling with two bedhogs (i.e., our little kids). While the king bed could fit 2 adults and 2 kids, it was nice not having to wake up with a kid's foot or butt in your face. * Free breakfast: There's a wide assortment of things to eat: Bagels; waffles (there's wafflemakers); yogurt; cheese sticks; granola bars; cow milk and soy milk; fruit; cereal; and coffee. * Unlimited supply of Starburst and Saltwater Taffy: This is by far my favorite perk. The perfect place to stay if you're needing to make a Starburst candy wrapper lei. * Free parking -- Can't be beat, right? However, on our last stay, I do have a complaint. Scroll to the bottom for more on that. * Free ticket for the Northrup station streetcar -- Great way to get where you want to go, especially if you don't have a car. ~So, about the parking.... Without getting into too much detail, my husband was contacted by the manager -- Audie -- that another guest said their car was damaged by OUR car. The other guest identified our car as the one that caused the damage. He notified us that there are no cameras, so going on the word of the other guest, the finger gets pointed at us because the guest said they were parked next to our specific car. I took pictures of our undamaged car the morning I received a copy of the email (my husband cc'ed me his response to the original email), which was about 3 days after checking out. There was another guest who was parked 2 cars away in a funky spot, who my husband helped back out of the spot because she couldn't do it on her own after struggling for a few minutes. Her car did have damage to the rear left bumper. My husband saw her examine the damage to her car. If she was so convinced that it was our car, why didn't she confront my husband right then and there? Anyway, this exchange with the manager left a bad taste in my mouth. Seemed really unprofessional. I applaud the effort, but please try next time to be more tactful in crafting your message so it doesn't sound so accusatory.

Yelp
This is probably a "love it or hate it" property. We've stayed five times now since our first visit in 2006. We loved it every time but one. That said, we took friends of retiree age along once for a couple of days stay and they were perplexed to find we thought this place was wonderful. So were relatives who gave thumbs up to location but thought the "Laugh-In meets MTV" décor "awful". On the flip side, my teen nieces deemed the place "AWESOME". Add multiple exclamation points. We tend to more agree with my nieces' assessment, still keeping in mind that while this is a boutique hotel it is decidedly not a luxury property. Converted from an old apartment building, the Inn at Northrup Station has pros and cons. One of the cons being the bathrooms are postage stamp sized and another being sound proofing between rooms leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you have folks in rooms above. And on the single occasion when we didn't enjoy our stay, indifferent staff behavior (not uncommon) had a lot to do with our poor experience. But there are many good things here and we like it. For the following reasons... LOCATION... ... is great. Right at the Northrup Station stop for for Portland's electric streetcar that you can hop on and take downtown or to The Pearl. (Portland has great public transportation and on one occasion when we stayed here we didn't use our car all weekend, relying on transit connections instead.). It is also walking distance to shopping and good eats in the Nob Hill area, like Ken's Artisan Bakery, City Market and Mingo. STUDIO SUITE SET UP with FULL KITCHENS... ...comes in handy for hauling back a little something from nearby City Market or Elephant's Deli for in room noshing. Keurig coffee makers. Free wifi and a desk in the living area of the suite. LARGE OUTSIDE DECK... ...located on top of the covered portico that is over entry is accessed off the third floor. It has tables and chairs and a barbeque grill. When weather allows we take a bottle of vino and some eats out there and call it a fun dinner. FREE PARKING... ...in the ample sized lot is a big plus for a Portland hotel. Woohoo! BREAKFAST... ...continental breakfast offered in the lobby (like bagels and yogurt) but with a kitchen in your unit and Nob Hill restaurants and bakeries nearby you may find you'll make other choices. THIS N THAT: 1) ROOM TIPS: Third floor rooms are best as that means no one is above you. While counter-intuitive, rooms facing Northrup are better than the rooms facing the back of the property. The Northrup (front) facing rooms are brighter. Also on that side, floors two and three have small balconies off the rooms and the first floor rooms may have small patios associated . Last, there are a couple of room classes. We recommend the one named Premiere King Suite (or thereabouts) for size and value. Rack rate about $170 / night these days, was under $100 when we started being guests here. Popularity of the place over time has helped support higher rates. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible parking in the lot. Level in. Elevators between floors. All good so far. However, this property fails the mere minimum Federal Civil Rights Law (aka ADA) standards for accessible rooms. Converted from apartments to hotel about ten years ago, well after the 1990 ADA applied, by law it must meet the minimums and it is shameful that it doesn't. Those minimums include accessible rooms distributed among floors and room classes. When I checked fo one in planning a stay with friends a couple of years ago, the only ADA room in the whole place was next to the lobby desk - worst location - facing back - worst outlook. Tilt. This violates Federal equal access law by denying equal access to rooms to people with disabilities. Shame on them. 3) PUBLIC TRANSIT: Portland's streetcar stop is right outside the door here. Ask at the desk for a complimentary ticket. 4) BOTTOMLESS CANDY JARS: Located in the lobby. This was among the reasons my nieces found this place fit them. But they also come in handy if you want to hang out with friends in the lobby after dinner and play cards. We retirees are easily entertained.

Yelp
I stay at this place every time I need a staycation. The inn is adorable and I can see why it's so highly rated. From the customer service when you first walk in to the water pressure in the shower. Everything is amazing and suited to their guests needs. I walk away relaxed and am already thinking of my next stay. Thank you

Yelp
I am honoured to say this is my 600th Yelp review !! Six hundredth review meant I had to save it for something special - well, this hotel is worthy of my 600th review. I have never had a hotel experience that I left feeling like every single thing went well. Except for Inn at Northrup. My friend recommended it to me because it has free hotel parking, and when I looked at the website I was pleased it had King sized beds (a necessity for us, but a rarity in Portland hotels). Here are some of the many things we enjoyed about our stay: 1) Hotel staff - every single person from the reservations desk emailing ahead of time, to the front desk staff, was friendly and helpful. No bad apples here. 2) I had mentioned we were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary, which usually goes unnoticed by hotel booking agents. Not here - they left us a lovely note and a bottle of Cava. 3) The room was perfect. The bed was so damn comfortable I want to take it with me. The pillows were great. The balcony was lovely and the view was adorable. The kitchen - every thing was thought of. Knives, cooking utensils. An ice maker. Cutting board. Recycling ! The decor was funky and still useful. 4) the rooms were quiet and you controlled the A/C easily. 5) location was excellent and the parking was onsite and free ! 6) small amenities made the experience really great - the breakfast was really good. Bananas, yogurt, waffles, bagels - whatever you need. They left fruit out the whole day though so you could always have a snack on the go. We had ice cream sundaes on Sunday and they even make fresh popcorn on Mondays for movie night! they had giant umbrellas you could borrow and we used them appreciatively one day. Wifi was fast and reliable. Honestly if you are going to Portland, doesn't matter if you need parking, you need to stay here!

Yelp
Cozy, comfortable, cute, courteous, and colorful! This is an adorable little Inn that used to be an apartment building with outdoor small decks. They have really done it up great and bright colorful purples, oranges, green, & yellow. There's a covered pull up driveway to front door with parking. The first thing you see is this fabulous modern colorful wind spinner out front. When you walk in the front counter is right there with the bottom in all pressed aluminum and more color. There's a little dining area with your basic breakfast carbs, waffles, boxed cereal, muffins etc. There's also a small refrigerator that they keep with the cabinet doors closed throughout the day. I would go and take out a package with two hard boiled peeled eggs in it, all different flavor yogurts, regular milk, chocolate milk cheese sticks and fruit. I would bring some of these things to my room and have breakfast in my room the next morning. The rooms are absolutely fabulous. The bed is enormous and so comfortable with s fab curly metal headboard when you first walk in. There's a 7 or 8 drawer dresser and small TV above it in the corner. Then the bathroom is on your right very large counter and great shower-head with powerful water flow. Then there's open indent in right for closet with shelf and yoga mat! Then you have the sitting area with a bright orange couch with fabulous colorful pillows. Very contemporary Coffee table, reminds me of the Jetsons cartoon's. There's a small orange swivel chair a desk in the corner with a 45" TV. The kitchen has plenty of countertop space, more of the pressed aluminum, full-size refrigerator. The cabinets are above the refrigerator all across the wall. So when you're at the sink and you're short like me, it's hard to reach the cabinets above. However, when I opened up the cabinet underneath the sink to step up onto it to reach above cabinets, I noticed there's a little stepstool under there. They thought of everything. The staff there is all courteous and eally wanting to make sure you have a good stay. Which mine definitely was.

Yelp
Wanted to love this place but it was probably one of my worst hotel experiences yet. If you get stuck on the first floor you should automatically prepare yourself for a LOUD stay because the people above you sound like they are in your room with you. We were misfortunate enough to also be placed in a room VERY close to the lobby and, therefore, had the opportunity to overhear every conversation that was had at the front desk or the complimentary coffee station. I am already feeling very unrelaxed and dreading the morning when we will surely have the privilege of overhearing everyone accessing the breakfast area which is right across from the front desk. No accommodations made for this incredible inconvenience. Feels like a real bummer to pay $200 for such a lousy, non relaxing experience. With that being said - if you can stay on the third floor, the hotel is pretty cool. Just hope that you don't have any unexpected issues because the hotel staff will do nothing to remedy it in any way.

Yelp
This place has a fun vibe. I love their playful decor & atmosphere. This is a great option in the same price point as a hampton. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the pillows where to poofy ...but that's not a fair complaint, as I love pillows that are old and 1/2 dead. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Perfect little hotel right by the Portland Streetcar. Funky, clean rooms with a basic free continental breakfast. Good value here for ppn paid. Free parking in the back so you can stow your car and take the tram around town or just walk to many key sites. Lots of restaurants and breweries a few blocks away. WIFI is reliable good for the business traveler who needs to save a buck but be downtown. Good for conventioneers as the train takes you to the MODA/convention center.

Yelp
LOVED THIS PLACE. My room was really nice and the kitchen game in handy as I did a lot of my meals to go and ate them in the room. Bed was comfy and having a couch to lounge on was great. The decor is funky but really cool. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Location is good but not great. Best part, the price is very good for what you get.
