The Inn at Perry Cabin is a luxury, boutique hotel just outside the core of Saint Michael’s, Maryland, situated on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Neither large nor small at 81 (we were told) guest rooms and suites, it sits on beautiful, spacious, and immaculately tended grounds. There is also a spa as well as seasonally available outdoor activities (tennis, swimming, golf, boating).| |Inside there is little to complain about – it’s all first class and very well staffed.||We are a happily retired couple and were looking for a quiet, romantic getaway within easy driving distance from our home in Washington, DC. For the most part, that’s very much what we got. Luxury comes with a high price tag, of course, but we knew that going in. This is not a place for bargain-hunters.||We had a nicely appointed suite with a lovely view of the Inn’s waterside grounds. We had all our breakfasts and one dinner in the Inn’s excellent main dining room, Stars, plus snacks one evening in the mostly-deserted (it was a Thursday in November) bar/pub. The food and service were very good.||We do wish there had not been one or more loud babies nearby at each of the meals we had in Stars (including the one we paid nearly $400 for), but it’s a family-friendly resort and some of that is to be expected. What we did not expect was a barking (and, occasionally howling), apparently unattended dog in the suite adjacent to ours. There are obvious advantages to being a pet-friendly hotel, but there can also be consequences for those looking for peace and quiet.||The housekeeping staff also missed us entirely on one of our three days at the Inn, but that may have been due to the somewhat remote location of our room and the fact that we only left the room available for a few afternoon hours on that rainy and coldish day.||In many ways, this is a terrific place to stay, in a wonderful setting. It was almost what we were hoping for.
