Inn at Playa del Rey

Delightful staff, truly. Beautiful living room /view. Very noisy windows on busy street. Wine cheese in afternoon is very nice and welcoming gesture. The building itself is tired, needs refresh, painting, and updates. Also better cleaners. Old school hot air blowing heating system in the rooms. The breakfast is very limited. No espresso or cappuccino machine. Just a hot pot of diner coffee. For the money needs a better breakfast, coffee, and at least a refresh renovation.

Back in 2016, during my first trip to the US, I stayed at this hotel on the last day of my journey. Looking through old photos today, memories of this hotel suddenly flooded back. It was one of my favorite hotels from that trip, incredibly cozy, and felt just like home. Now, living in Ohio State, I hope to have the chance to stay here again next time I visit LA. Such wonderful memories.

This place is wonderful and well managed. An emerald gem in the desert of LA. However, the quality of your stay will greatly depend on the quality and courtesy of the other guests. This is an inn, not a hotel. That means the acoustics are more like in a big house. There is polite ettiequte (common in Europe) that one uses while stay at an inn. So, I was having a wonderful stay until new guests arrived upstairs and continuously pounded around on the floor as if no one was below them. The family with a two year old decided the hallway was the perfect place for their child to run and scream literally for two hours - I really like children, but this was too much. The Inn did little to help people orient to the acoustics and inn etiquette, so I was kind of on my own without lodging a formal complaint. The staff are wonderful and clearly love working here. Breakfast was delicious. The area is cool with healthy restaurants a short walk away. If I return, I'd choose the highest floor.

Beautiful place to find refuge after a long, busy work trip. Friendly and welcoming staff. Offered wine and a cheese board upon my arrival. Beautifully decorated and clean room with large bathroom. Delicious homemade cookies and a welcome card in my room with relaxing music playing. The breakfast room is so beautifully decorated with views of the riparian area towards the back of the building. Nice to watch birds and feel like you’re out of the city while eating the homemade breakfast which was so plentiful and really delicious!! Nothing like a microwaved breakfast you might find at a chain hotel. The inn is located within walking distance of the beach and some good restaurants, as well. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone!!

Outstanding experience staying here, once in 2012 and again in 2024. The rooms are spacious, bright, clean and very comfortable. It's worth requesting one with views over the Ballona wetlands as then you can also enjoy this stunning ecosystem from your balcony. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, contributing to a homely feel, which is added to by the delicious homebaking. The decor is fresh and thoughtful throughout. Breakfast and the wine and cheese hour are especially generous and delicious. Overall this is a peaceful and beautiful place to stay which seems a world away from inner city LA. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The Inn at Playa del Rey is lovely place to stay that is about 10 minutes from LAX. We recently stayed at the Inn for several nights. Check-in was a breeze, and the folks on staff were fabulous—friendly, helpful, professional!!! The guest rooms (we had 2 different stays, so 2 different rooms) were clean and roomy. The first room faced a main street, so it was noisy in the morning as the commuters made their way into the city. It also had a mattress that was firmer than we prefer. The second room was set back further from the street, so the noise level was much less apparent. Mattress was a bit softer, so better for us. The shared areas are spacious and comfortably furnished. The Inn overlooks a marsh and is truly a beautiful setting. Breakfast was varied with a soufflé and a fresh baked item every morning as well as yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and some cereals. The coffee is good and plentiful. The nightly wine and cheese reception is a wonderful bonus which we are able to enjoy several nights during our stay. The location is fabulous—so close to the airport with easy access all the sights of LA, Venice Beach, Santa Monica. A quick walk to the beach and some nice local spots to eat and get cocktails. We would stay here again next time we’re in the area.

We discovered this place coincidentally when looking for hotels in the area. It was a phenomenal experience and will be coming back again. We had a minor issue into our stay we discovered what we thought was some mold behind the toilet of room 203 (beware if booked in this room). When we brought it up to the reception James, they were more than accommodating about it and brought it right up to the manager with pictures. For the inconvenience our room was upgraded to a marina view suite with a balcony. The free breakfast, free parking and free wine in the evening was great. Definitely good bang for buck. As far as the reviews go about noise, yes you hear a lot more but the amount of people staying on property was minimal. At breakfast there was at most 4 couples having breakfast. A very warm and pleasant vibe during our stay.

Excellent boutique Bed & Breakfast/Inn, from the Four Sisters group of California hotels/Inns/B&B. Great public spaces as well as beautiful decorated large bedrooms, sitting areas and bath rooms. Located near LAX, but no noise, overlooking beautiful natural wetlands, this is a great location. Unfortunately, as many B&Bs the rooms DO NOT have mini-refrigs, microwaves, safes, coffee/hot water machines, and as the only place to find ice, etc. is from the reception desk/kitchen, when the staff is uninterested it detracts from the overall experience.
