Inn Bishop Alley

This is a beautiful small Pousada in a perfect location right in the historic center of Sao Joao de Rei. The owner is such a nice lady, speaks excellent English and is super-helpful. We had a huge room ( the Lotus room) with a king sized bed and a glassed-in balcony, gigantic very clean bathroom, hallway, a second bedroom with a single bed. The room had a fridge, a safe and the WiFi signal was very good. The breakfast was very good. There is also a small pool.which we didn't have time to use but I saw others enjoying it. The gardens were also lovely. This is a perfect place to stay in Sao Joao del Rei.

We stayed there during a weekend. The hotel was very busy, but this not affected the quality of the stayed. The staff is very friendly and fast. We choose a standard accommodation, the room is ok, clean and everything in place. The location is amazing, located in a small street inside the historical center of the city. They have a parking place, reception 24 hours and the breakfast is fantastic. Extremely recommended.

Our stay at this pousada was one of the highlights of my first visit to Brazil. Personal service was exceptional and accommodations first class. |The manager went out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome, and I would recommend this stop to any traveler without hesitation.

There may well be a friendlier Pousada in Brazil, but good luck finding it! Quite simply Pousada Beco do Bispo is hard to beat in terms of value, location and the friendliness of the owner Nitza, who will do everything and more, to make you stay in Sao Joao all the more memorable. Situated down a quiet cul-de-sac, minutes away from Sao Joao's main attraction, the Igreja de Sao Francisco, this spotlessly clean pousada is an ideal location to base yourself when visiting this part of Minas Gerais. Spacious, immaculate rooms, firm beds, stunning breakfasts, complimentary afternoon coffee and cookies, helpful staff and a share of Nitza's local knowledge will make you wish you could stay longer at this gem.

I stayed at Beco do Bispo with family that came from abroad and had the best treatment possible. The pousada is gorgeous, peaceful and impeccable. Service is amazing and the location is perfect - right in the middle of the historical center. Can't wait to visit again!

We travelled to Brazil for a wedding and this Pousada was chosen by the bride. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we stepped in the door, until we left to attend the wedding in another town 4 days later. I never would have thought that staying 4 days in a pousada could be so influential, but it was. I say this because of the Nitza. You have clothing that needs to washed, cleaned and/or pressed? No problem, just leave on your bed or bring to reception desk. Your clothes will be returned to you in a day.....no charge! I was having a bit of a problem with swelling from the extra long trip (26 hours). Nitza called her mother and sister for advice ran to the local pharmacy and picked up a topical cream and all natural homeopathic diuretic and then refused to let me pay for the purchases. These are just a couple of the "extras" that she provided along with her wonderful smile and welcoming demeanor. We truly felt as though we were leaving home when it was time to continue on with our journey.

This pousada is located close to the centre of Sao Joao del Rei. All sights are in walking distance. They have a garage and the breakfast ist good.|Most importantly, some people at the front desk speak English and are extremely helpful. I definitely recommend a stay at this pousada!

Dear TripAdvisor Travellers. I stayed again in November 2015 2 weeks at Beco do Bispo. It was again a great experience, I loved my room (#14) with the small garden terrace and the breakfast was even better than the last time! I love this place very much and I feel almost home when I stay 2 weeks in Sao Joao del Rei. Thanks again for the great hospitality! ||||||Hi team of Beco do Bispo! I stayed again for almost 2 weeks at your pousada! Again you gave met the feeling that I was home; you're service is great / amazing and it feels like home! My room (# 14) has a small garden terrace and was nice cool. I used your swimming pool; nice! The breakfast was, as always very fresh and lots of nice things to eat. Great place! Please rent a car and drive to Tirandentes (or by steam train) and drive to Ouro Preto for 2 days. The pousada has in door parking garage. Good free WIFI. Visit the Italian restaurant Pizza Raro; great. Or the sushi restaurant Via Japa. For a beer and a snack or meal go to Cafe del Rei; everybody goes to this bar. The churches are beautiful in Sao Joao del Rei; so lots to see and to do! Enjoy and stay at Beco do Bispo! Compliments to the management and the team of this pousada.
