Inn of the Turquoise Bear

We just returned from this lovely inn. We love the location, a little away from all the touristy downtown, but still walkable. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The breakfasts were a highlight of our day. Absolutely delicious. The variety of smoothies each day was such a treat. Every little detail was thought through to make sure that guests had a comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable stay. We will definitely return and also recommend to friends and family traveling to Santa Fe. We also enjoyed meeting the other guests from all over the country as we shared a breakfast table with each other every day. Highly recommend!

Had a fabulous stay and highly recommend! The history and story of the inn added charm to the experience - and above all the hospitality and warmth of the manager, inn keeper and staff was exceptional! The rooms were spotless and wonderfully decorated consistent with the historical age of the building and estate. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood burning fireplace that was set up nicely for an easy start. Also enjoyed the attention to detail in providing high quality drinks and snacks throughout the day, including home made pies and cookies, and fruit. We had a substantial dinner and aren’t typically big breakfast eaters so didn’t partake of the gourmet breakfast but next time will eat lighter to do so! It looked fabulous. I did appreciate the freshly brewed coffee available early! Location was great - could walk to the plaza and many of the sites, as well as just stroll to get a feel for the city.|All in all a great experience and highly recommend!

We had the most enchanting experience at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear! We were greeted so warmly at reception by Edith and she answered all of our questions. It was so lovely checking in with her each morning. |Our room was beautiful, there was so much attention to detail and the staff was gracious and accommodating making sure there was no detail left unattended. We loved having a fire in our fireplace each night and the breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious! We can’t wait to return to this magical place.

This historic Inn is all the pictures and reviews say it is! My friend and I stayed in the DH Lawrence room. The mattress was very comfortable, the room was spacious and the bathroom was a generous size with wondered water pressure. We even lit a wood fire one night (firewood already in the room!). But our favorite amenity was the gourmet breakfasts! Everything was made to order- and they even keep the mugs on a warming plate! We made some good friends during breakfast and happy hour (that’s right… from 5-6 they serve very nice wine!!). One lady we met was staying here for the 5th time! I will absolutely stay here if I’m ever lucky enough to get back to Santa Fe! And … if Alex recommends something- do it! He is a wealth of knowledge!

My husband and I chose The Inn of the Turquoise Bear for our small elopement on November 1st. We chose their Vida Encatadora Elopement package for us and our 6 guests. We are not exaggerating when we say it could not have been a better experience! The Inn is absolutely beautiful and each room is so special and unique. The staff was so welcoming and helped us every step of the way in planning our wedding ceremony. Flowers, cake, officiant (Innkeeper Alex did a wonderful job)—all were part of our package and all were exactly when we wanted. They made it so easy and we seriously had zero stress on our wedding day.||We haven’t even mentioned the breakfasts. Every day we had a different, huge, delicious breakfast (our favorites were the huevos rancheros and the blue corn pancakes). Desserts and snacks were in the main area all day, and wine at 5pm every day. ||This place is so beautiful and special. It just has a loving vibe. The owners and staff were amazing and we can’t wait to go back.

Santa Fe is a beautiful town in the middle of stunning scenic wonders that beckon exploration, so spending a night or two in an exquisite, yet cozy inn might seem unnecessary. I will tell you that not only is it necessary, without the Inn of the Turquoise Bear, you might be too overwhelmed or indecisive to make a plan to do as much as possible in what always amounts to too little time.|Once you book your room, you get access to personalized recommendations for dining, hiking, recreation, and art and cultural experiences in and around Santa Fe. I designed my entire trip after consulting with the Inn's recommendations; I managed to spend most of my time hiking in places I otherwise would not have known about or chosen, thinking they might be too far or difficult to add on to other hikes and activities. I also ate incredibly well. These are the main reasons I travel anywhere without a beach: hiking in the mountains, history and culture, and eating local cuisine. I am so thankful for the resources the Inn offered because I was able to make the most out of my time. I couldn't be happier with my entire experience in New Mexico and I truly owe that to the Inn's hospitality team's dedication to detail.|The Inn of the Turquoise Bear is charming and private; the landscape draws you into a beautiful and accessible shared space, with olfactory delight wafting from delicious home-baked goods, and books aplenty that highlight the uncountable treasures of your surroundings. I stayed in Edna St. Vincent Millay's spacious room, which was complete with private outdoor space, a sitting room with a desk, a fireplace, and a giant bathroom. As you would expect, it was spotless. Really, it was pristine (and this is one of the rooms that allows pets, so I was particularly impressed). The fireplace was prepped and came with helpful directions to keep it going and extra firewood and kindling. All of the amenities were wonderful, but outstanding was the bed and linens. I stayed in a number of places in Santa Fe and Taos and nowhere outside of the Inn of the Turquoise Bear did I find a bed that didn't immediately sink. The mattress was firm and beyond comfortable, the linens luxurious and warm.|If that wasn't enough, the terrific coffee and locally sourced and freshly prepared breakfast (inclusive of dietary restrictions!) really made it impossible to leave.|I can't wait to return to the Inn of the Turquoise Bear. It's romantic and quiet. The staff, every single person on it, is committed to ensuring a unique and exceptional stay.|Thank you, again!

Santa Fe is a very magical place. My first time. The |Inn provided a wonderful HOME base for 5 days. |Such a rich Inn with history over the last 100 years! What a wonderful place to stay. It exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was scrumptious and the snacks and treats in the house were a delightful surprise. Our room was very cozy and the bath robe was so comfy I slept in it every night. The staff was so kind and accommodating. I would recommend this place for anyone to stay it was excellent.

Stayed here for 4 nights in 2008. The room and owners at that time were outstanding. Every late afternoon there was wine and cheese in the lobby for guests and other who dropped by for stories of the inn's background and Santa Fe sights and history. Exceptional experience.

A perfect weekend getaway for two. We stayed in the Georgia O'Keeffe room which is beautiful, well equipped, and very comfortable. The best part of our stay was the delicious breakfast and the other guests we met. We looked forward to our breakfasts and the wonderful conversation. The property and staff were lovely. Highly recommend.

My husband and I had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, and if our stay at Inn of the Turquoise Bear is any indication of how amazing Bed and Breakfasts can be, we'll be hard pressed to stay in a traditional hotel if we can help it going forward. There are so many special touches that made our stay unique and elevated. First, before I get into the fun stuff, let me say that we felt really safe by all the COVID-19 protocols that were in place. Any employees we came across were properly masked and social distance was observed. Upon pulling up to the property, you are greeted by this majestic, meticulously maintained compound atop a small hill. The sprawling building is a great example of Pueblo architecture both inside and out. The common areas are chock full of character and is pretty much the antithesis of the corporate, cookie-cutter chain hotels. The atmosphere is friendly, inviting and creative. There is an extraordinary history associated with the property as it was once owned by the literary figure Witter Brynner and has seen a parade of prominent authors, artists and silver screen luminaries stay on the premises. We stayed in the Ansel Adams suite and loved everything about it! The decor was spot on and every detail is so carefully thought out. We loved the thick Adobe walls, and mix of rustic and mid-century modern furnishings. The bathroom was especially luxurious as it featured a claw foot tub and large dual sinks. There was plenty of seating throughout the suite which served as the perfect recharge as we were utilizing the suite as a home base for our busy activity schedule while in Santa Fe. Another big plus about Inn of the Turquoise Bear was the close proximity to the Plaza and all the other activities we did. There are even amazing food trucks barely two blocks away that were incredible! The location was so ideal and because of how the property is situated, you feel like you are in a more remote setting. As for the breakfast, there were various options available every morning. The dishes were of the comfort breakfast variety and echoed the season. Some of the meals I indulged in during my stay were spiced pumpkin waffles, muesli pancakes and a frittata with herbs from the garden. I only got around to taking a picture of one of these breakfasts as I was already scarfing down the food before I thought to take a picture! We were also served fresh juice smoothies with breakfast that were delicious. There is classic music playing in the mornings in the dining hall and it's just sets the perfect mood for a day full of possibilities. In the afternoon you can find fresh baked pie slices and/ or cookies. These treats were the perfect pick-me-up after a day of strenuous hiking. Overall, we could not have asked for a more gratifying stay in Santa Fe. Our trip to The Bear will be one that is treasured for a lifetime. The innkeepers Dan and Alex did a marvelous job in ensuring our stay was flawless. I would highly recommend staying here and if the opportunity should present itself to visit Santa Fe, I don't think we would want to stay anywhere else but here.

First time in Santa Fe and the crew at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Sherry, David and Alex made sure we were taken care of in every manner. Restaurant suggestions, information on excursions and sites to take in around town were routinely offered. Breakfast each morning was a delight. Alway something fresh and delicious along with a "smoothie of the day" to get you started. After long days of exploring Santa Fe, you walk back to the Inn to find a platter of cookies, snacks and beverages. Lastly, if the lemon ricotta pancakes are on the menu board, order them. They will change your life!

The Inn is an oasis filled with kind and generous innkeepers and staff, beautifully appointed rooms with so much attention to detail, history literally oozing from the historic adobe walls, and absolutely delicious breakfasts that are planned with care and made with love. Guests are spoiled with great amenities like homemade cookies (insanely good), fresh flowers, luscious gardens, wine & coffee to enjoy.

Every detail accounted for to make your stay exactly what you want. Innkeepers Dan, Alex, & Sherry are equally helpful and engaging. Looking for a hike or place for dinner? They offer great suggestions! High maintenance dietary restrictions? No problem - delicious meals and snacks just for you! Each room holds onto its own special history and is clean and comfortable. I only wish I could stay longer.

Had an amazing stay at the Turquoise Bear. Fantastic hospitality and great location. We were in the Willa Cather room. Very comfortable. Common areas were welcoming. Staff took great care of us. Breakfast was convenient and tasty. All day snacks were a very nice touch. Walking distance to most attractions. Highly recommend!

Stopped here for 2 nights on our road trip. My son caught a stomach bug and was sick. The staff was very accommodating and even brought the free gourmet breakfast to the room, then some fresh juice and checked up on us multiple times. They also got us clean linens and washed-dried his clothes when he threw up. Excellent service and hospitality by the staff. Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed here two nights while passing through Santa Fe on a road trip from Nevada to Texas. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfast was amazing! After our stay here, we now want to return and stay for a longer period of time. The location was perfect, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Clean and comfortable rooms with a lot of history. We were traveling with our two cats and they were able to provide us a room that was cat friendly. The cat's enjoyed it too! Highly recommend! We can't wait to return!

I stayed at the inn on a Monday night and again on Wednesday during a business trip I joined my husband for. The property is GORGEOUS and the service provided by Alex and his staff was immaculate. We stayed in two different rooms and both were spotless and filled with history and culture that the original owner Witter Bynner brought to each room. The gourmet breakfasts served are delicious and combined unexpected flavors. One morning Alex served candied ginger waffles and another we had lemon focaccia pancakes. Both we delicious. They always offer a buffet table set with fresh fruit, cereal, and breads with jams and jellies as well as eggs any way you like. The inn is a short 15 minute walk from the Plaza and wine is served at dusk on the beautiful patio out front. I would not stay anywhere else when visiting Santa Fe.

The services and amenities are fantastic, could not reasonably ask for much more. Our rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The staff went to great lengths to accommodate us, and provided excellent breakfasts at the communal table. The property is beautiful and fairly close to many Santa Fe attractions. Easily driving distance.

Excellent stay with excellent service. I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and am so glad I chose this place. I was looking for an authentic feel where I stayed in Santa Fe and I was not disappointed!!! We were only in town for one night unfortunately. Wish we had more nights to stay here. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Ansel Adams room which was impeccably clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. We couldn't believe how great the bed was. The claw foot tub was lovely and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic. The main house of the inn was adorably decorated for Christmas. Breakfast was provided in the morning by the innkeeper Dan. The food was absolutely delicious, laid out beautifully. We continued on our cross country trip well rested and with full bellies. We will be back for sure!!!

Stayed here for 3 nights in the Georgia O'Keefe room. Super attentive staff(Dan the innkeeper was outstanding) as well as beautiful, aromatic rooms. Breakfast served every morning with a specialty menu item (which can be adapted for any dietary restrictions) and a buffet table of various breakfast items. The fact that I told the innkeeper I like decaf coffee on my first morning there and a fresh pot was there made for me every day thereafter of my stay is a perfect example of the excellent service provided by the staff. If you're staying in Santa Fe I'd recommend this place wholeheartedly

Stayed here last week for two nights on my way home from Colorado. It was just myself and my dog. Warm welcome from our host Dan who checks you in and walks you to your room. The place is beautiful and relaxing. Easy walk to town which is great since parking can be hard to find. Enjoyed wine in the evening with Dan and the other guests, learned some of the history of the Inn and also about the other guests. Breakfast both mornings was fantastic. The Inn is very dog friendly, bowls, treats and a bed were waiting in the room. They didn't require dogs be crated or leashed based on you and your dog. My bed in the room was very comfy! I will definitely be staying at the Inn again when I go back to Santa Fe. I do a lot of road trips with my dog and it's so nice to find a place as great as this that welcomes dogs. Thank you Dan!

Not until our first breakfast at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear did we realize we were staying at Wittner Brynner's historic estate - home base for many a famous writer and artist. When you pull into the spacious gravel parking area, you're mesmerized by the beautiful pueblo architecture and gardens. Our room, the DH Lawrence room oozed charm and had a lot of the original touches from yesteryear. Located on the second room, it had its own sitting area and small porch, which was perfect for sitting out and listening to the gurgling of the water fountain in the courtyard in the evenings. My only beef with the room was that shampoo wasn't provided. Wonderful local soaps, but no shampoo? Talk about getting my hair into a tizzy. The owners are very friendly and cook up a mean chorizo omelet or baked egg with green chile for breakfast. We never went hungry here between the delicious breakfasts and wine and cheese hospitality hour and our favorite, the plate of fresh baked cookies to satisfy our midnight munchie cravings. There are three dogs on the premise, although we only saw two, one of which is a giant lumbering German Shepard named Colt. The Inn is located about a 10 minute walk from the downtown plaza. It's less than a 5 minute walk to places like Guadalupe Cafe and once you pass Paseo de Peralta, shops start popping up everywhere. The Inn puts you within striking distance of everything, but if you want to be in the thick of things, you may want to stay closer to the plaza.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the inn. The room and buildings were amazing and the staff and inn keepers were incredibly helpful and attentive. There are books in every room that explain the very interesting history of the Inn. Everything was clean. The food served at breakfast was worthy of any upscale restaurant in town and the huevos rancheros "alternate option" was also very good. The location is walking distance to the plaza and the galleries on canyon street but if you are planning on buying anything you may want to make the 3 minute drive and park in one of the public pay lots so you don't have to carry your bags a mile back to the inn . There are also multiple beautiful hikes within 10 miles. I use yelp quite often but rarely post unless I feel that the business is exceptional, and with The Inn of the Turquoise Bear, this is definitely the case.

Adobe villa built in the 1800s. Host was pleasant and inviting. The villa! The villa was amazing ...we loved the real hard wood floors and the garden. A local from the town was doing an unsanctioned garden tour haha. Alex our host said ...they just come on in and start doing tours...hey it's Santa Fe. Lol . The included breakfast, coffee/teas were wonderful. Our room was 'cozy' and we were really lucky to have thunder storms that night and have our windows propped open to hear the rain....perfect. Bed was clean, comfortable and bed bug free;) we always lift mattress....we will definitely be back to this tranquil inn.

Charming, comfortable and friendly! Had an amazing stay here passing through on a road trip. Really enjoyed the fresh baked treats and drinking hot chocolate by our own wood fire in the O. Henry room. About a 15 minute walk to the plaza - conveniently located and overflowing with hospitality. Can't wait to go back.

My wife and I were married at the Inn last week and we couldn't imagine a more perfect wedding. Tucked away from the busy plaza area of Santa Fe, the Inn is a quiet oasis of lush gardens and warm hospitality. Innkeepers Dan and Alex made our stay so great with their helpfulness and amazing breakfasts. They even considered my sometimes tricky vegan diet when preparing meals (and surprised me with vegan Rice Krispies treats!), for which I was very grateful. The Inn is rich with creative history, which is why we chose it as our destination. Each room is named after someone who stayed there--and designed with that person in mind. A few of the names include Ansel Adams, Georgia O'Keeffe, D. H. Lawrence, and others. If you're considering the Inn, I highly recommend you check out the full history on their website. It's really amazing. For our wedding we rented all the rooms to accommodate our family. It was great fun to have everybody in one place with so many amenities. We never really needed to leave for any reason. But when we did decide to travel downtown to see the sights, it was only a short walk away. Santa Fe is an amazing town, and we feel like we found the absolute best place there to host our big day--they have really reasonable wedding and elopement packages, and Dan will even preside over the ceremony--and share some rare time with our family. We plan on returning every year for our anniversary because we loved it so much. If you're going to Santa Fe, I highly recommend checking out. Inn of the Turquoise Bear.

I am staying in the Millay room of the Turquoise Bear. This B&B is on the historic estate of poet Witter Brynner (died in the late 1960s). Many famous artists were guests of the Brynner estate including Georgia O'Keeffe, DH Lawrence, Ansel Adams, and Willa Cather. The rooms are a comfortable size and come with wonderful amenities: a wood-burning fire place, plush bathrobes, locally made soaps and shampoos. I am really cozy here despite the 20 degree weather. The some of the rooms are in buildings independent of the main house so it is very quiet. The owners of the inn, however, host a small wine and cheese reception each evening in case you'd like to mingle with the other guests. I highly recommend this hotel! It is very private and comfortable.

You will not want to miss this beautiful Inn. Dan and Alex are so hospitable you feel like you've known them forever and sad when you leave. The grounds are quiet and beautiful. Rooms are beautiful and the linens very nice. AMAZING breakfasts and social hour(s), great to talk with others about travels snd interests. Don't forget to just ask Dan...he has the information you are looking for.

When we pulled into the Inn of the Turquoise Bear, it was a sight to behold! A beautiful rambling adobe with a waterfall, hammock, outdoor seating and lovely garden beds. Our Innkeeper, Dan, was very welcoming and pleasant. We sat outside on the comfortable outdoor furniture and just soaked in the beautiful afternoon sun after getting settled in our room. There was a wonderful house made orange bundt cake in the common room and a variety of Tazo teas and coffee. We looked through an extensive sampling of menus from local restaurants and Dan helped us decide on a restaurant. We sat in the common room at 5 and enjoyed a lovely Malbec and a nice chat with our Innkeeper. We walked to the plaza for dinner and it was a lovely walk there and back. The Inn is located in a great location and situated very accessibly to museums, the plaza and hiking. Our room, The Edna St. Vincent Millay, was comfortable and very clean. It did smell strongly of old fireplace smoke but I'm sure that is to be expected since there in a fireplace in the room. This room does share a bathroom which isn't terrible but it helped me determine in the future, a private bathroom is something I will always look for when I stay in a B&B. My husband and I were quite disappointed to learn that our room faced a very busy street, Old Santa Fe Trail, and the traffic noise was enough to wake us and keep us awake. I think that the description of the room should have mentioned this because I never choose rooms that face or back streets because we are unable to sleep. Another complaint about our room is the fact that the curtains are not heavy at all and the room has very large windows and it is extremely bright. We came as a one night getaway from our 5 children and were hoping to sleep in and rest but were rudely awakened to an accident and heavy traffic as well as a bright light pouring into our windows very early in the morning. We got ready and headed down to the common area for breakfast. The breakfast of the day was a blue corn pancake dish with piñon butter and syrup served with an orange glazed bacon. It was delicious. There was also the option of an egg entree with eggs served any way, but he was out of eggs and the only option was scrambled because there were only liquid eggs. There was plenty of juice, coffee, fruit, yogurt, granola, biscotti, etc. All and all breakfast was a very nice end to our trip.

Love love love love. Can't say enough about the Inn, our room & Alex (& staff). The bed and pillows were super comfy. Everything was just warm, welcoming and extremely comfortable. The little touches and history make this place a hidden gem. Easy enough to walk into town and the breakfast was great.

Probably the only place in Santa Fe, aside from La Fonda, I'd recommend for out-of-town guests. We actually stayed as out-of-town guests before moving back to Santa Fe, and our time spent at the Turquoise Bear was very relaxing. They upgraded our room both nights, free of charge, which was a pleasant surprise. Our room, the O'Keefe, was immaculate and well-appointed, in addition to being charming, with a very comfortable bed. The proprietors were friendly and gracious without encroaching upon our privacy. The history of the place and its past inhabitants alone makes it an interesting destination in and of itself.

Love this place! My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and really enjoyed the calming atmosphere, proximity to the plaza and friendly staff. The owner, Dan, is a really nice guy; he greeted us right when we got there and filled us in on everything related to the inn and around the area. The room was clean and comfy, and my lord the bed was comfortable. Free wine for happy hour was a great way to get everyone down in the lobby chatting and getting to know each other. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

We cannot say enough amazing things about this little jewel of a B&B. Dan, Alex and the rest of the staff made us feel more than welcomed upon arrival. The ambiance, vibe, and history are exactly as promised. And what history. Worth spending time in the lounge reading about the Inn and your fellow travelers - old friends and new. We stayed here for one night in January during one of our short trips to Ten Thousand Waves. I haven't written a review because I wasn't sure I'd feel right about it. I can't really explain - or at least I don't feel "right" explaining. Just turquoise-bear with me. Haha! Sorry, couldn't help it... Anyway, I will just start off by saying we had an issue with our stay here, something I would normally leave a less than stellar review for. We would have contacted Dan right away, had it not been midnight when this issue arose. So we dealt with it. We told Dan at breakfast the next morning, and he seemed absolutely appalled and wanted to refund us our money. We declined because everything else here was so fantastic and I truly don't believe that this is a normal occurrence. Could something else have been done to fix it, perhaps. But I won't dwell on it. The grounds are stunning, especially when blanketed by snow in January. We chose a dog-friendly room so we could take our furry terror along. It was an additional cost of $25 and they provided a bed, water and food dishes, and a bag of doggie treats. They had a killer bourbon chocolate pecan pie available for guests in the lobby. Complimentary s'mores kits for those with fireplaces in their rooms. We did take advantage of these, although the marshmallows were just slightly stale (I'm weird though and I like them like that). Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fancyschmancy LaCroix sparkling water, are also available in the lobby/common room. Breakfast was great and we got to learn more about the history of the inn and its new owners. I'd really enjoy staying here again, I felt like we were much farther from home than we really were.

My husband and I loved our three night stay. Dan the innkeeper is very accommodating. The inn is a beautiful and charming old Adobe estate. Our room, The Ansel Adams Room had so much character. It does back up to a highway, but we didn't even notice that until the third day. It was very quiet and peaceful. The location is perfect. Just a few blocks to town. We really enjoyed the gourmet breakfast in the very charming dining room. The food was great and the homemade baked goods throughout the day were a treat! We highly recommend this inn and hope to visit again someday soon!

Just had a wonderful weekend stay with several friends. This is our second stay at the Inn. Dan and Alex are consummate hosts-warm, gracious, and knowledgeable about the estates incredible history. The Inn offers beautiful rooms with New Mexico charm as well as multiple outdoor spaces to enjoy chatting with other guests or just to relax. When you stay here be sure to leave time to enjoy the delicious homeade breakfast they provide on site. You should NOT miss it! Can't wait until we can come back and stay again!

My husbanding I were looking for a true Santa Fe experience, and that is what we got at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear! Pueblo-style estate & furnishings with great history- rambling and charming; great food with New Mexico flavor and flare. Close to everything 'Santa Fe'- truly a world apart! Bravo!

The Inn of the Turquoise Bear was the perfect place to stay for a long weekend getaway in Sante Fe with girlfriends. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts, the rooms are charming with adobe walls and wood ceilings, and there are lovely outdoor areas to relax. Dan, Alex, and staff were wonderful hosts.

What a charming place to stay! Really enjoyed the intimacy of the Inn. Fantastic experiences connecting with all the guests at the Wine & Cheese hours. Breakfast was always top notch. My husband and I decided to get married here, and it exceed my expectations. It was serene and peaceful. Every little detail was sorted out for us. The cake, flowers, champagne, and ceremony were provided. We stayed in the Spud Johnson room. It was very comfortable and our dog felt right at home. Overall, the entire place had an incredibly vibrant atmosphere that felt just right. The food was just phenomenal, and my husband loved the blue corn pancakes and sweet/spicy chilli glazed bacon. I will recommend this experience to other young couples who are getting married. It was so romantic.

I know, I know, so many wonderful reviews already but this place is not just good it's magical. It's beautiful, the innkeepers are wonderful, the food is top notch and the rooms are the perfect Santa Fe decor, but not too much..I've stayed in many nice inns in Santa Fe but this one has it all. Please, please do yourself a favor and stay here if you visit Santa Fe.

I've become a sort of b&b fanatic in the past few years... and when I researched the Turquoise Bear I was excited by its beauty and history (I am a writer and avid reader). However, I was extremely disappointed by my recent visit. After spending about a week in an ABQ hotel my boyfriend and I traveled to Bandelier ( see my review) and Santa Fe for the night. We only stayed one night here... and maybe that is why the service was so poor; or, maybe it was because we are young (mid 20's). Either way, one of the owners was quite condescending and unaccommodating. For example, when we arrived we entered through the Innkeeper door (I had alerted him of our later arrival time, as per website instructions), but we couldn't find him, so I walked around the grounds. when he saw me walking around he came outside and chided us: "this is a bed and breakfast. See, it says 'inkeeper' on the door!" Not a good start to our evening. He also talked trash about previous famous guests--if we had built some rapport this might have been okay, but it only turned us off even more. After a walk through and dinner in Santa Fe, I decided that though our initial experience was bad, the place was beautiful and comfortably close to the Plaza, so overall not such a bad place. We decided to stay in with some wine and watch a movie (they have a collection of VHS to check out), but previously noticed our room did not have a VHS player... so before our walk we asked him if there was any way we could watch a movie--he assured us he would bring us a VHS player, so we checked out a movie, and he told us that while we were away to dinner he would bring the player and tape over. So, we buy our wine, have a decent dinner, and walk back to the Inn. It is now past 9pm, when all staff are gone. Alas--there was no VHS, no player, nothing. Our one request on our one night. I couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning. When we checked out, he just said "okay," not asking us about our stay or anything. I hope this is a fluke.. maybe he was having a really bad week... or maybe it was that we were only staying one night so he didn't need to make an impression on us. Either way, it was disappointingly opposite of the typical level of service I've had at B&Bs. I will never return, and I feel like my $200 would have better spent elsewhere (aside from all of this, we had the Millay room which came out to $190, and shares a bathroom. My favorite B&B comes out to the same price, has a private bathroom and a hot tub and a functional fireplace and two lazy boys and a bottle of wine and caramel apple pie per night you stay... but whatever, I would have been happy with the price/room if the service was acceptable). Maybe if we had interacted with someone else this review would have been drastically different. So, take your chances I guess.

Although I am new to the B&B world this place seems to be extraordinary! Dan the new owner is a great cook and makes you feel like you are at home. The inn itself is so unique and blows other B&Bs in the area away in hospitality. If in Santa Fe this is the place to stay!

This is a great Inn. And the best part about it (okay, actually there are a lot of great things about it, but one of the best) is you can WALK to the plaza. Even in the winter. It is very short. And that is the best way to get to some of the best restaurants in town, including Guadeloupe Cafe, and the Plaza Cafe (closed right now, they had a fire). As far as the Inn, it is awesome. Best dog friendly place around. Bring your dog, or if you are a dog lover (my girlfriend 100% animal/dog lover but we don't have a dog right now), you can hang with Colt & Cody and you will not be disappointed. Colt and Cody are the two big dogs who hang at the Inn during breakfast and during Wine & Cheese hour. Our room was one of the bigger ones, and the bed is huge and super comfortable. We sleep a lot the first night and completely missed breakfast. We weren't that tired from traveling since it is a short trip from California, buy maybe the altitude or just the bed is that comfortable. When we did make it to breakfast, it is very good. The bread is great, OJ, and eggs to order, and the bacon. Plenty of things to eat for vegetarians also, cereals, bagels, etc. Free high speed internet . . . THANK YOU!! I hate paying for internet at hotels/Inns.

My husband and I spent our final night in New Mexico at this B&B and couldn't have ended our vacation on a better note. The host was gracious, the food was exceptional, the room was inviting and the grounds were absolutely gorgeous. I especially appreciated the book in our room about the original owner of the home (Witter Bynner), whose work I hadn't read before our stay. In spite of all the enticing accommodations in Santa Fe, I will not hesitate to return to the Inn of the Turquoise Bear on our next trip.

My family and I stayed one night at the Inn at the Turquoise Bear and we all very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and cozy. The grounds are well kept and the owner Dan is very friendly and welcoming. My pup was greeted with doggy treats upon arrival as well. The breakfast the following morning was delicious. Fresh fruit, homemade baked breads, assorted breads, juice, and coffee. For our hot entree, we had amazing artichoke and potato frittata. Overall a great stay and I would definitely be back when we are in Santa Fe. Thank you, Dan! :-)

Inn of the Turquoise Bear is an exceptional hotel concept. If in their advertising, they have said that staying with them is just like being at home, it is true and more, because in many ways it is better than being at home. The first impression comes from the exterior of the inn, with terraces, gardens with trees, flowers, bird feeders, fountains, armchairs, hammocks. And then you find, the living room, dining room and rooms with special decorations; everything impeccably clean and full of details that are meant to pamper and make customers feel comfortable. All this on top of the incredible hospitality, exquisite breakfasts, coffee and delicious pastries all day and in the afternoon wine and snacks. With respect to the pets, they are not the pets of the guests, they are one guest more. And finally, one is in a place where Dan (The Inn Keeper) and the staff are constantly looking for ways to make your stay a pleasant experience. If you ask me a word to describe my stay: "perfect". First class experience for a bed and breakfast! Dan (The Inn Keeper) was so hospitable and could not have been nicer. The Inn is so charming and beautifully decorated for the holiday. The breakfast was AMAZING! I really enjoyed meeting others at breakfast and chatting with Dan. The walk into town was an easy 8-10 minute walk. The location was just perfect. I can't wait to return to the little gem! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My best friend and I recently attended IFAM (International Folk Art Market) in Santa Fe, and lodged at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear for four days. We stayed in the Ansel Adams room. It had it's own private bathroom and a lovely patio area. Dan is a fantastic chef and host. The room was full of charm and amenities, no A/C but even in July it wasn't needed, with the thick adobe walls it was extremely comfortable. Great parking, beautiful gardens, and centrally located to the downtown area. The place to stay while in Santa Fe! Thanks Dan and David!

The history, location, privacy, elegant breakfast and intellectual conversation from the other patrons. Great place to stay in Santa Fe. Going again in May. Hope nothing has changed!

My friend and I recently spent a long weekend at this Inn and had a wonderful experience. Dan and Alex were excellent hosts...welcoming, informative regarding local sights, and outstanding chefs (breakfasts were consistently yummy). The decor was inviting and comfortable. We were able to join other guests for wine and snacks every evening at 5--6pm on the lovely patio. This was a great way to have interesting conversation and get a little insight about the area. I would definitely recommend this B & B and I will be staying here again in the future!

My boyfriend and I visit Santa Fe once or twice each year, and only stay at the Turquoise Bear. We even get to bring our doggie with us! The owner and everyone who works there are sweet, funny, and take pride in their business, and the history of the Witter Bynner mansion. It is a magical old authentic adobe with beautiful gardens and balconies, gorgeous with summer gardens and welcoming in winter. The breakfasts are abundant - healthy choices and Santa Fe'an choices cooked to order - and the company is intriguing (and I'm not always up for breakfast conversation, but end up enjoying it here). There are delicious cookies and fruit available in the very comfortable den/library and an excellent wine and cheese hour every night... I love Santa Fe, but when I'm staying at the Turquoise Bear, I feel like I can just cozy up and never leave! (In fact, last time, I spent an entire day relaxing in the incredible Witter Bynner room with a fireplace and mimosas! - me, the restless traveler!) Whenever I go to Santa Fe, I feel like I return home to the Turquoise Bear.
