Just spent 2 excellent nights at the Inn. It’s not fancy but our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We loved the coffee available to all guests in the morning. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and provided great restaurant recommendations. Places to eat and drink just a block away. We had 2 electronic bikes and they were kind enough to allow us to store them in their garage. I would definitely stay there again.

We had a very lovely stay at the Inn of the White Salmon. It was updated and comfortable while still having historic charm. The location was fantastic, walking distance to everything in downtown White Salmon. We really enjoyed having our coffee in the beautiful and spacious outdoor area in the back. Great value. We will definitely be back!

We had a king suite and that’s the perfect way to describe what the accommodation was. Felt like an apartment complete with a kitchen area (microwave and sink and mini fridge). The sitting area was very nice with a couch and an arm chair and the bed was very comfortable. Private bath was a tad on the “cozy” side but well put together to accommodate everything you need without sacrificing any space in the bed or sitting area. Didn’t hear noise from other guests or cars on the street outside despite cars being feet from our window and the hall full of guests at other rooms. They really thought of everything to give you the private escape if that’s what you need and there was a wine tasting and coffee station and friendly staff if you wanted some time with other people. Amazing job! We can’t wait to plan our next trip out there.

You know, sometimes in life, you just get lucky enough to experience something truly spectacular. This is one of those times. We were traveling through the area and needed a one night stay. I saw this Inn and booked a night based on good reviews. I had no idea what I was in store for. The Inn is beautiful. It is an older restored Inn. They managed to keep its original charm while thoughtfully modernizing it into a spectacularly relaxing and I will say…luxurious, space. The room was so comfortable, clean, simple…very soothing, serene. Beautiful decor, colors, artwork in the hallways. A living room with a little nook for maybe sitting and having coffee. But here is the best part. The outdoor patios and gardens. Stunning. There were multiple levels of gardens and outdoor seating. There is more. This town of White Salmon is a beautiful gem. Incredible restaurants, coffee houses, shops, a bakery to die for!! We came to Oregon / Washington to quickly hit many of the beautiful sites in ONE WEEK…But we will be coming back to this Inn and this town again and just spend the entire week chilling right here. If you have a chance to stay here, do it!! It’s just lovely. The owner also was super friendly. Such a joy to chat with him. Five stars plus plus plus!!

Google
What a lovely little hotel! I booked a last minute overnight stay on a Sunday after spending the day in Hood River. The room was clean and cool with AC running. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was trendy. I had a slight view of Mt Hood. The concierge who checked me in was friendly and helpful. It's right on the main strip of White Salmon which means you can walk to all the restaurants and storefronts within 3-5 minutes. The "backyard" of the hotel is SO underrated; amazing landscape and tons of seating. Also a "living room" space where you can get cozy and hang since the rooms are small. I look forward to coming back!

Google
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It's very conveniently located, with plenty of restaurant options nearby. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and the patio garden was a lovely place to relax. What truly stood out was the kindness and helpfulness of the owner. After we checked out, my mother realized she had forgotten her glasses. The owner went above and beyond by carefully packing them and mailing them to our home, charging us only for the postage. This level of care and hospitality is rare and greatly appreciated. Highly recommend!

I had a solo getaway for a night and it was perfect. Innkeepers were friendly and answered all my questions. Room was clean. Bed was comfy (I did a 25 mile mountain bike ride up Post Canyon earlier in the day so was extra happy with the comfort). The back garden is quiet with lots of seating. The ONLY complaint someone could have is that the rooms are not very sound proof - but they provide ear plugs so no reason to complain. Do the yoga across the street. It was great!!

What a great place to stay. Quiet, ex exceptionally clean. The view is spectacular. The gardens are very nice coffee in the morning sitting out in the back patio is gorgeous. If you have a chance to stay there, please do it. It’s worth your while.

Yelp
We spent one lovely spring evening in White Salmon staying at the "Inn of the White Salmon". The Inn is completely charming and comfortable. Great beds and terrific pillows (2 per person!). Windows that open to let in the fresh air from outside. Since it's a historic hotel, I was a bit worried about noise but like worry usually is, no need to worry we had a quiet, peaceful nights sleep. Wine for sale in the lobby very reasonably priced and they supply glasses and opener. The outside garden, even for early spring was quite beautiful, quiet and relaxing. There are many different places for people to seat themselves. There are many restaurants within walking distance from high end to pizza. All the crowds are in Hood River; so sneak over to White Salmon and enjoy quality rooms and restaurants.

Yelp
Friendly off the beaten path from Hood River. I saw a little of Mt. Hood from my window. Walking distance 1 1/2 blocks to restaurants. Hotel's atmosphere was established and would come again!

Yelp
Upside, the room was clean and the staff was reasonably friendly. Downside, few upscale features which you would normally expect for a premium price. Little parking, ac unit was freestanding in the room. No cable (only a generic streaming stick with no premium channels). Was there 2 nights, never saw housekeeping. Walls were very thin - high noise level. Would likely not stay there again.

Yelp
Thank you to the staff at the lovely Inn of the White Salmon, particularly Christy. After a disastrous experience at a local vacation rental, we were saved at the Inn. We could walk into town where there were many excellent dining options and an awesome brewery. We enjoyed a great sleep on a comfortable bed in our quiet room. Fresh brewed Hood River coffee got our morning started right! We will make a point of making this lovely inn our destination in the near future!!

Yelp
Loved our room! Wish we could have spent another night! Very charming place and the food scene in WS is fantastic! We'll return!

Yelp
The Inn of the White Salmon is perfect. Friendly, very clean, well maintained, tastefully decorated, quiet and just a moment's walk to the center of the delightful small town of White Salmon. Great restaurants, views of Mt. Hood and the Columbia Gorge are easy to find. All in all, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better spot to land for a short getaway or an extended stay in this area. The Inn of White Salmon does everything right.

Yelp
I have stayed in great and expensive hotels all over the US. I have not enjoyed a hotel more than this boutique gem. The beds have memory foam toppers. The pillows are memory foam and the BEST pillows I have had in a hotel. This place is family owned and the people are fantastic. The garden right outside our window was so green and beautiful you just wake up in PEACE! And the shower..... you will not believe it. Best shower of my life... seriously. Don't pass the chance to stay here.

Yelp
Awesome inn! Very nice photos lining the hallways and awesome common living room w a guitar. Very kind customer service from Denise at the front desk.

Yelp
I stayed here with my significant other for two nights and everything was perfect. Beautifully designed, efficient, reasonably priced room. Gorgeous back garden with plenty of places to sit with your love or group of friends and watch the birds, take in the colorful and scent-ful flowers. The innkeeper is friendly, kind-hearted, funny. Close to all major Gorge hikes--and White Salmon's a charming, sleepy town with plenty of great coffee and beer. A better bet than chaotic Hood River, for my money.

Yelp
I stayed in the hostel room on a whim, and was so incredibly pleased! Not only did I have the whole room to myself - it felt much more like a hotel than a hostel. At $25/night for a twin bed, it was a great value too. The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, offering suggestions for places to eat and local hikes. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We stayed here recently for our anniversary. The place was cute and clean. The staff were very friendly. The location is convenient to Hood River if you don't mind going back and fourth across the scariest bridge ever (but that isn't their fault). It is of course next to Everybody's brewing which is fun. I also liked that they had organic coffee in the morning and that you get coupons for breakfast in the area. The common room was gorgeous, but could not really be enjoyed due to drunk guests and their trash sprawled about (and the person at the front desk did continue to clean up after them). And the views of the mountains as well as Hood River from the Washington side are gorgeous!! I cannot give them more than 3 stars however, and am hesitant to do that because I would not go back in the winter (but certainly would be willing to try it in the summer- except it says the AC is loud in another review). I am surprised to see that no one commented on the loud noise of the old heaters or the thinness of the walls. We did not sleep a wink while staying and were excited to get back to our apartment so that we could sleep (even though we were going on a weekend trip to escape the sounds of the city). Apparently if a guest of the hotel in any room closes off the heater (as most would because it gets super hot and there isn't signage telling you not to) the sounds that happen throughout the night are outrageously loud! Between that and loud conversations in the rooms next door starting at 6, no sleep was possible. For our second night, we spoke with someone at the front about moving rooms. They were super accommodating to that request, except that we were told that we would still hear this noise from the other rooms of folks closed their heat, were told that housekeeping would ensure they were all open, and the available rooms without the old loud heating were near the front desk. We decided to stay in our room because it didn't appear we would have a better option. Needless to say- our trip was less than romantic. Some recs- do give this place a chance if noise is not an issue for you or if it is during the time of the year where the heaters are off. It is a great way to enjoy the gorge. Hotel staff- make it so guests cannot turn off the heat and rec that they crack the window! Warn folks about potential noise (especially when they call to make reservations and discuss the importance of needing a quiet room). Oh and maybe include some more pillows so that it is possible to sit up, and not just lay down, and watch television!

Yelp
The place is in a beautiful setting with the red brick & character, I so love. The rooms were very clean. In the room we had, it was exactly what one needs. Clean lines mixed with the old moldings, old radiators, stairways, bathroom tiles. I'm very happy they kept the old touches to mix with the new. The owners were great, very attentive & easy to talk to. We stayed 2 nights & there wasn't a noise issue, hot water issue or anything. I could see if you were really tall, the smaller bathrooms might cramp your style but that's how they made em in the 20's & 30's. More compact, we'd have to stay. We paid for their wine tour packages. Flo (sp?) was great. We had many options & we left it up to him and he delivered. Plus mid way he got us a picnic from Feast, which was wonderful. If you want to learn about the area, ask him. He probably knows more in the 7 years he's been there than most. It was pretty cool as he could talk about any subject & has a sense of humor, it was great. Hubby & I did feel it would be cool to check it out again in the summer as seemed many of the businesses were seasonal. Would I stay again? Most certainly.

Yelp
We stayed here one night during our honeymoon, with the intent to cross over into Hood River for some brew tasting and shopping. However, after discussing it with the front desk staff we opted to go to Everybody's Brewing and just stay in White Salmon. It was a good call, this is a relaxing place to stay. We were checked in quickly and efficiently and invited to enjoy the grounds. There is a beautiful pergola set in a wonderful garden area, complete with comfy chairs and a fire-pit-table. The entire back area is a terraced garden /grass area. It made a really nice place to sit and drink a beer and relax for a while. The younger man at the front desk was very accommodating, as well; suggesting areas The rooms are moderately sized, but clean and un-cluttered. Our room had a queen and private bath; aside from the private bath it had the feel of a nice European hostel. There is free coffee in the common room and a small selection of beer/ wine for sale at the front desk. The Inn identifies themselves as an eco-inn and they seem to stay true to that ethos. Their involvement of other local businesses in their practices is great to see and boosts the desire to leave the inn and see other stuff. The close restaurants are wonderful; it's refreshing to hear that the owners eat everywhere we did. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the value; we felt this was closer to a $100 room than $130. For fairness, this is still far cheaper than staying in Hood River. Perhaps off-season is slightly better.

Yelp
Very well maintained and clean with friendly staff. All parking is along the one street, with no spaces reserved for guests. That seems to not be a problem. We had a nice but small room with a small fridge. There is no closet and only a tiny hanger-drawer unit. No desk, but a small shelf. The very small shower in the very small bathroom has one great feature: Full pressure w/ plenty of flow. The shower head is too high, even for me (I'm about 6 feet tall): I had to turn it off to soap up. Our room was below someone upstairs who uses concrete bedroom slippers... or else the noise transmission through their floor into our ceiling is too efficient. Or both. This is wine country, and they will sell you a bottle or glass of wine. No breakfast, though they do make coffee and provide hot water and tea bags. Instead, each guest is provided a $5 coupon to use at one of four walking-distance places that serve breakfast. It covers about half to 2/3 of the cost of a small breakfast. The quality and style of those places is somewhat variable. Nice "family room" with TV, microwave and an untuned guitar. There is no fridge there, and no water. Tea bags, but to make tea, you use either their coffee-flavored hot water, only in the morning; or bring water to the microwave. The only cups are paper. I brought one of their glass glasses (a definite plus) with water from our room which worked okay with the hot-sleeve that they provide for the paper cups. Good selection of Stash tea flavors. There is an outdoor patio area with nice plants and seating. In the dry season (this is), it is very pleasant. Alas our room windows open to it, so we had neither good privacy nor protection from someone who came out to smoke at midnight, waking us with the stench. The WiFi worked well, with no apparent trouble handling the number of guests using it. No in-room phone (but we all have cells, don't we?) I would stay here again, but would ask for an upstairs room, possibly a "suite."

Yelp
It was great place to stay a night, room very stripped down, just the basics. Can be alittle on the small side and hard to unpack. Staff are super friendly, and the breakfast vouchers to a local cafe were really nice. Very clean but wish the windows had better shades, it is a little to much light for me. So much better then a chain motel.

Yelp
This place is lovely! Modern construction mixed with old charm. Very friendly staff and great style in all the rooms. Everything is really well done. Even garden out back. A panel above the front desk reads: "Come as strangers, leave as friends". Which is true about this place. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This place was wonderful! We got the wine tour package and it beat our expectations. The owner of the Inn personally drove us to each winery and was able to give us history about the land and wineries. He also provided us with a superb lunch consisting of a large charcuterie board from the local delicatessen. Our room was very clean and calming. Simple and eco-friendly environment. Beautiful flower gardens and even a grill to use! Amazing view and wonderful little town to visit. I highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
Very cute little place to stay when visiting White Salmon! I thought the room was super cute and clean. We stayed the night, but am very happy with The Inn of the White Salmon! It was centrally located as well to downtown White Salmon and close to Hood River, OR if you were traveling to that side of the river.

Yelp
One of the best places I have stayed! The rooms were spotless and the common room was very cozy. There was a brewery with delicious food and a coffee shop basically next door. We got a free upgrade because the hostel was booked. The staff truly cares and wants to make you as comfy as possible. We used their ski package and David was a pro at getting us up to the Ski Resort in the shuttle despite the snowy conditions. The reserved front row parking made him super easy to find at the end of the day. If you want a relaxing stress free escape with great skiing GO HERE

Yelp
We stayed here on a Saturday night as we were rafting on Sunday morning. They booked our rafting trip for us which was nice. Everything was ready when we arrived. Very comfortable rooms which are what they promote. They are very clean and small, but very efficient. Cozy. Comfortable bed. Outdoor and common areas are very pretty. Staff was very nice. They also gave us a voucher for a cafe down the street for breakfast. The food was delicious. Thanks for a great evening!

Yelp
As far as professional goes, this hotel wins first place. When I first walked in it didn't' feel like a hotel, but more of a home. You can tell the manager put in a lot of hard work into his business and supports his community. I hope you put this amazing hotel on your list.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to stay when in the gorge. It's reasonable priced and has a great location in White Salmon. I have stayed in the hostel and in the rooms and have enjoyed my stay each time. The rooms are very quiet, unless the volunteer fire department is called out (the alarm is a evac siren so don't panic it's not a dam breaking), The Inn is very well kept and the staff is very friendly.

Alice H.

Yelp
How positive! Friendly. Clean. Interesting. Helpful. Quiet. Generous. COMFY. Sweet. We ate our breakfast at Katina's, down the street, using our complementary vouchers. We had coffee @ 10 Speed using our complementary vouchers. We showered using our unusually high quality complementary soaps. We snacked on (cheap) good beers and cheese 'n' crackers purchased at the friendly-ass front desk. And, DAMNIT, we couldn't be happier! We'll be back. And we will badger everyone we know to stay here too! (Screw Hood River. Make that a day trip. Inn of the White Salmon is the place to stay)
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
I love this place. The hostel is really comfortable and welcoming and the rooms make you want to stay a day or two longer. The location is in walking distance to good breakfast, lunch and dinner joints. Not to mention it's an east walk to Some drinking establishments also. Any time I head that way I always look at the availability of this place because I've never had a bad time.

Yelp
Much recommended. This place is eco friendly, clean and quiet. They have a great patio area where you can enjoy a glass of Columbia Valley wine...

Yelp
Surprisingly pleasant, modern rooms. Friendly and helpful fellow at the desk.

Yelp
Nice Inn, great staff and clean room. Only reason I am not giving it five stars is because the air conditioner was beyond loud, and the wireless. Living room has very nice modern touches; would like to see that style on the raggedly outdated staircase carpeting, upper hallway and rooms. Breakafast joint you get a voucher to is pretty great :) Definitely will consider going back.

Yelp
It's a great place to stay neat clean rooms, nice room services, very good living room, staff is good and the owner personally drove us for shopping when ever we needed perfect place to stay

Adam M.

Yelp
We relied on the Inn for a wedding we had near White Salmon and they were wonderful. Lots of our guests stayed here, including family, and were pleased with the place. The owners also helped us arrange shuttle using Inn staff to our wedding location. Well done. We've stayed a number of times on our own and have never been disappointed. White Salmon has a lot to offer and the Inn is the perfect place to set up shop.

Hiker G.

Yelp
I called this morning to book a room knowing that my chances were slim to none as the weekend starts tomorrow. The person whom answered informed me that all rooms were filled. After acknowledging this, he proceeded to inform me in a very rude and sarcastic tone that I need to plan better in the future. I was confused as to why he was even assuming to know my plans or what prompted me to call for a reservation in the first place. Extremely rude. I hope his supervisor reads this and coaches him on customer service etiquette and proper conversation skills.

Yelp
Traveled to Hood River for a mountain biking trip, ended up staying here because all of the hotels in the area were booked. The owner was SO nice! He helped us carry our expensive bikes to his personal garage in the backyard, which he offered right as we drove up. He also let us keep our bikes there all day after we checked out. We were going to go take engagement photos, but our photographer had to cancel, so we took advantage of the white water river rafting near by, and picked up our bikes that night. The owner seriously went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. It truly is a best kept secret. I definitely recommend staying here! I loved the decor, and it was the best sleep I've had in a long time! My Fiance and I will be back to visit winter or summer.

Dan S.

Yelp
Awesome family run hotel where the modern meets 1930s charm. Quaint and immaculate rooms. Owners are very knowledgeable about the area. Take advantage of the digital area advice on 4square. Nice selection of beers and wine to wind down the day, not to mention the awesome family room to enjoy them in.

Barb S.

Yelp
We happened to stay here one night when we were going to maryhill to a concert. We really had no idea what we were getting. Boy were we thrilled with what we found. Cool little town.....clean, quiet rooms. The decor was simple but functional. We will definitely go back.

Jill H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here about a week ago and loved it. Originally we had booked a room with a shared bathroom but we called and tried to change it to a private queen. They didn't have any queen rooms left but they gave us a king room with private bathroom with $10 which made it only $20 more than the queen. The hotel was very cute and fit with the surrounding area. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was small but efficient and with adequate water pressure. I liked that they had wine glasses available as we had bought wine from all the wine tasting we did. The breakfast that we had a across the street was great too, and very cheap after using the $5 breakfast coupons. My only slight complaint is that I could hear some people talking on the deck at night and someone snoring but it didn't keep me from falling asleep. I would definitely go back.
