I have a couple stupidly minor (and easily remedied) complaints, but everything else went so far beyond our expectations that I can't bring myself to dock a star for them.
Kenn and Madeline were so, so sweet, and so incredibly accommodating about our late check-in and late breakfast (because we're incompetent ).
The gazebo was everything we hoped it would be, and more. It's gorgeous. There are fresh flowers by the bed, and a fireplace. Clean, delicate white curtains all around, and a shaded skylight overhead. The bathroom is spacious, with heated tiles and adorable vintage decor. It was so incredibly romantic.
Breakfast was incredible. There was an impressive selection of different teas on the table (and as I was rifling through them, Madeline said, "And if you don't find what you're looking for there, I have more!"). We started off with a fresh fruit salad and a basket of baked goods, including pumpkin bread and a blueberry muffin. I love pumpkin bread and blueberry muffins. I think this is where they really won my heart. We were then given a whole bunch of other (healthy, but delicious and satisfying) breakfast options to choose from.
The price was reasonable, and there are steep discounts if you choose to do their "procrastinator's special." The entire place was clean, and clearly well thought-out. There were helpful maps and restaurant suggestions and tourist pamphlets around the main house. 24hr street parking right in front of the inn.
If you're considering staying here, you should be aware that there is a dog and a cat that wander around. They are so well trained and sweet, though, and should only be an issue if you have severe allergies.
I guess it's only fair for me to include the less-than-perfect details. The plumbing is a little off. The toilet had some trouble flushing, but there was a handy dandy little plunger right next to it to prevent any embarrassment. When we tried to fill up the whirlpool, there was a little bit of debris (from the drain, maybe?), but we managed to drain/ pick them out. If you're looking for a view...there isn't really one. The inn is on a residential street, and the gazebo is pretty much in the backyard.
The entire stay was so stellar, so comfortable, and so well done, despite the "drawbacks." I'd come back again and again.
