Inn on the Green

We loved this inn! Filled with historic charm - wide hardwood floors, beautiful staircase, ornate fixtures, and lots of other charming details. Our room was very comfortable and clean with great views of the town and the mountains. The drinks and snacks in the common room were much appreciated as was the delicious breakfast basket delivered to our room on our first morning. Would definitely stay here again.

I don’t leave reviews often but this is much deserved. We stayed here for a treat to my wife on Mother’s Day with our two daughters. Right when we got there we were given the best treatment by Brenda and her husband Bruce. They put their heart into the whole experience and it shows in the smallest details. From the cleanliness to the quality of breakfast offerings, it is hands down the best place I have stayed with my family. We are not wealthy by any means, but the room was very affordable for level of excellence that is offered here. I will recommend the Inn on the Green to all of my friends, family, or anyone who will listen to me blabber on about it. We WILL be back here in the future. That is a promise.

Excellent location!! Everything was walking distance. The employees were extremely nice and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious :) only thing that could have been improved was bed comfort. The bed was a little hard for my taste but some people might even prefer that. I would highly recommend this place!

Bruce, Brenda and the entire staff were kind, accommodating, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We have stayed there twice; once in the main house and once in the carriage house. Both rooms were equipped exactly as the website states, were clean and very comfortable. The nightly turn down service and breakfast were added bonuses! Bruce and Brenda offered suggestions of sights to see, directions, plus wonderful conversation about the area. Location was perfect for walking downtown as well. Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area!

Absolutely lovely hotel in Middlebury. The staff is super responsive and helpful. The location is ideal, a short walk to downtown and to campus. I loved the amenities, like Lake Champlain chocolates and a small bottle of maple syrup, all the wonderful parts of Vermont were there to welcome me in my room. I also thought the self-check in was fabulous so I didn't have to see a single person during my entire stay so I felt safe COVID wise. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed my stay here. I was supposed to stay two nights, but missed the first night because of a plane connection. Breakfast is served in your room every morning. I had the best croissants of my life here. I believe they come from a local bakery. There is an evening turn down service as well. The only reason I have to knock it one star is because there was an issue with the hot water one morning and I had to take a cold shower :( Apparently, this is super rare, and many locals say wonderful things about the place. Not the best place to watch TV. And I really prefer a full size ironing board. Nothing worse than trying to iron a man's dress shirt on a travel sized ironing board on top of the bed. Overall, it was a good experience.

My troop of older HS Girl Scouts planned this weekend of skiing, B&B and restaurants completely on their own, and we loved every minute of it. The Inn on the Green was an excellent choice. Central to everything in town yet quiet, good price, and beautiful rooms. Our room was the Lincoln Room, which has doors on the ceiling. :) The owners and staff were welcoming and the breakfast was top notch. Highly recommended!

Great location! Room was clean, spacious, temp easily regulated. Accommodations were very comfortable. Parking is available. Located within walking distance of Middlebury college. Also lovely breakfast in bed option with good options on the menu. Definitely a great experience.

Adorable Inn in the center of Middlebury, VT. Close to everything and the staff is wonderful. I have stayed here many times, and each time it is better and better. The owner is constantly making improvements such as new furniture for the rooms, updating the mattresses, adding keyless entry locks, or even finding a gorgeous antique or new piece of art. It definitely shows that this Inn is a labor of love! You will not be disappointed!

What a wonderful place to stay in Middlebury! The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the staff so accommodating. The central location was awesome.

This Inn has got it down. They made my hubby and me feel like we were in the know from the beginning. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, they have fantastic coffee, beautiful rooms and a very friendly staff. They are respectful of your privacy but dying to assist you. They have a turn down service in the evening which is just a nice touch. The inn is centrally located and the town is really charming.

We parents and our daughter went from California to Middlebury, VT in February, 2005 to experience Winter and explore nearby colleges. The best suggestion we received was to stay at Inn on the Green as a base for our travels. The complementary breakfast helped start each day. Coming back to this Victorian in the evening was a wonderful way to end the day. We can recommend this B&B for a great stay.

A wonderful inn in Middlebury! We always stay here when visiting. Excellent snacks, relaxed atmosphere, charming decor. A Vermont classic.

I just stayed at this lovely inn for one night, and it was the sweetest thing ever. We arrived later than usual (9:30pm) and the owner was very kind and made us feel comfortable (I was with three other musicians). Our beds were turned down (plus a cute little chocolate was neatly placed on each of our pillows), there was complimentary tea in the hall, a basket of apples, and mints. Very simple yet I love these sorts of the things. The bathrooms were stocked with many cute little accessories including a mending kit, Vermont soap (local company), and make-up remover toilettes. Very exciting. :) My bed was SO comfortable... I don't think I woke up once during the night. I'm bummed we didn't stay longer, but I will have to go back on my own and explore the town some more. Very cute place.

On a drive from Lake Placid back to Cambridge, I had to make an unexpected stop due to car trouble, and stayed at Inn On the Green. The staff here are incredibly friendly, supportive, and helpful. Before I arrived, the concierge had turned on the air conditioning in my room so that it would be comfortable when I arrived, and then offered cookies and a drink as soon as I was shown my room. I was also given suggestions of great places to eat, and even where to take my car for service. The owner let me stay well past check-out time while my car was being worked on. Although Yelp ranked it as being more expensive, Inn On the Green actually turned out to be cheaper than the other two hotel quotes I got before booking. This is a wonderful place with wonderful people, and I would love to stay again.

Inn of the Green was a fabulous example of what a B&B should be like. The Ambiance was welcoming and the staff incredibly gracious. We took the Bristol suite since we were traveling with our adult size teens for a brief two night stay to see Middlebury College. When our son called to say that he needed a complete set of bedding to spend the night at the college the Innkeeper pulled together a bedding, towels and even a floor cushion without so much a raised eyebrow. Then disaster struck in the form of stomach flu and I can't say thank you enough for the kindness shown by the staff (more bedding, towels, ginger ale and calm). Having the breakfast brought into the room was a wonderful bonus and fun for our family as well. I wouldn't hesitate to come back - after the flu season of course.

Lovely place to stay for a quick weekend getaway to Midd. We're alumns (class '98 and '99 representin!), so we don't need any special reason to return to our alma mater whenever the mood strikes -- but this was the first time we stayed at the Inn on the Green. I remember the place being built back when I was an undergrad, and always wondered what it would be like to stay here. Well, wonder no more! The host and staff were impeccable professionals, so warm and welcoming ... but also left us alone. A very tricky balancing act, that, and much appreciated. We stayed, rather appropriately, in the "Middlebury" room and the accommodations could not have been more comfortable. Continental breakfast served in our room was also a very nice touch! Our stay here made the return to Midd relaxing and enjoyable. As we will most likely be back next year, I'm definitely booking our stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay when we came to tour Middlebury with our daughter! Stayed in the Shoreham room which was perfect for the three of us. Such nice amenities: continental breakfast with fresh baked pastries delivered to the room, coffee, bottled water, wifi, even bikes to borrow. Highly recommended.

We just held our small wedding in MIddlebury and everyone stayed at the Inn on the Green. It was a great experience. The owners and all the staff did all they could helping us and making everyone comfortable. They were flexible, accommodating and helpful - even in the face of our small group of big personalities. Every room is unique and all were very nice. Even the 'smaller' rooms were still generous in size and bright. There's really no second tier rooms in the place like you might find at some other smaller B&Bs The Inn doesn't have a kitchen - Some might take this as a negative, but really it's a plus. To get breakfast and each day you fill out a card with your next mornings selections. Baked goods are picked up by the staff each morning and your food is brought to your room. Selections of hot beverages, including delicious coffee from Bali, VT cheese and fruit are some of the other options. Though you might not have the number of selections offered at a big chain breakfast buffet, the quality of food and relaxed feel of dining in made breakfast an enjoyable experience every day. Besides the niceties of the Inn - its perfectly placed. It's in the heart of town so just about anything is walkable in just a couple minutes. One can even make the walk to the college in just a few minutes. You can realistically park your car for the duration of your stay and not get back in until you must depart. If you're planning to visit Middlebury I recommend you stay at the Inn on the Green

Beautiful house right on the village green. They really care here, and the house is spacious and delightful. Free breakfast, very welcoming and a home-feel, yet still very professional. The owner clearly cares about quality. Go here!

Incredible service and amazing hospitality. We stayed for two nights with our two children in June. Comfortable rooms and beds with nice amenities in the bathroom. Breakfasts are served in your room with multiple offerings: coffee, hot chocolate, juice, yogurt, fruits, pastries etc. Upon request for a corkscrew one evening, the Inn keeper also brought us wine glasses, cheese and apples on a cute tray with linens. When we returned home from vacation, we received a note from the Inn with about 5 tiny Lego pieces we had left behind. Wow! Best service ever! Will always stay here when in Middlebury.

I completely agree with George. I took my daughter to Middlebury to look at the college and we only stayed one night. The college was only so-so but the Inn was terrific. Excellent food and congenial hosts.
