Excellent stay in stunning small village. Friendly service and great breakfast. Very nice hiking or cycling environment. Close to Amsterdam or Monnickendam.

In a word: Spectacular! We enjoyed a fabulous 3 night stay here. It is so serene and so beautiful, we didn't want to leave. You cannot help but relax and feel any stress just melt away! Breakfasts were a treat and we had a superb 3 course dinner on one of the evenings. Walking around the village was a delight and we loved the location. Literally 15 minutes into central Amsterdam yet you felt like a world away. We did a great bike ride around the local villages and towns which was a lot of fun. We would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a lovely break in a beautiful spot with great service.

The furniture in the room, the amenities provided, and the view were of good quality. However, overall, the experience was greatly overhyped, and it certainly did not deliver value anywhere near the 300+ Euro we paid. We had rented a luxury double room. For the spa experience, we reserved the jacuzzi, but there was dirt in the water. We only stayed for about 10 minutes. A couple with a 3-month-old baby had rented the family room next to our so-called ultra-luxury room, where an ultra-luxury experience was promised. As a result, the baby cried the entire night, and we woke up to start the day with zero sleep. For a truly luxurious experience, the property should be adult-only, or at the very least, there should be some consideration for children’s age. The breakfast was a complete disaster. We had to try to communicate with someone who did not speak English. Despite telling them we do not eat pork, they brought us a plate of pork. Other than that, it was just an overly sweet yogurt granola that looked fancy but didn’t offer any real substance. You also don’t know what will be served or when—at one point, we had to get up and ask if that was all for breakfast. Honestly, I never expected to be so disappointed after paying this much. I strongly recommend considering the opportunity cost before booking here, as the hyped-up experience by people prevented us from choosing truly amazing alternatives.

We only got to stay over for one night unfortunately, but his was one of the loveliest stays we ever had! The details were thought out so beautifully and we just had the best time walking around the town, using the sauna, playing the games in the common area ... 10/10 experience - my only complaint is that i wish i had booked it for a longer stay! And Karl (and his dog Basil -- not sure if I'm spelling this correctly) was the best and so kind and accommodating! Thank you so much again! Hope to come back.

Great place for a tranquil getaway close to Amsterdam. Lovely owners, the wife is an excellent chef! We we’re the only guests that evening and because my wife is vegetarian she prepeared two separate 3 course meals 🫶. Love the well stocked honesty bar and the games.

Inn on the Lake is an absolute gem and the perfect getaway just a stone’s throw from Amsterdam. We cycled from Amsterdam to spend a night at Inn on the Lake for my birthday last February. Although it was winter, we were so warmly welcomed and pampered, enjoying the pre-booked massage treatments and use of the hot tub. Our room had an incredible view over the lake and was equipped with an amazing bathtub. I can’t forget to mention the food - Chef Tim created an incredible meal for us, in such a cosy and intimate setting (it happened to just be the two of us that evening!). Breakfast was also fantastic. This is one of my favourite places to stay in a beautiful village if you’re looking for a little getaway from Amsterdam.

Pamela and Karel were wonderful hosts, amazing chefs, and the space so beautifully curated. An amazing quiet getaway where you can find peace. I had a lovely unique massage from a local practitioner and it was really easy to take the bus to Amsterdam for the day. Highly recommend this gem!
