Yelp
Seeking a relaxing vacation at this hotel after being cooped up for a year due to the pandemic, we were disappointed, and wound up checking out 3 days earlier than planned. The room we had was absolutely nothing like the photo of a modern room we had seen online. Because one reviewer had indicated not all rooms had been remodeled, I called ahead, and had been reassured that the hotel's remodeling project was complete, and we definitely would have a remodeled room. We arrived to find depressingly dark brown dreary flooring and very old-fashioned thrift shop-style decor. The door to our room opened onto an incredibly busy highway. The cable TV remote barely worked, and the cable system offered no premium channels or movies. The only hint of a remodel was a large clear-glass-enclosed shower. One reviewer had reported getting freshly-squeezed orange juice delivered to the room. Not us. We received a small carton of Tropicana. I decided to give this hotel a few stars, however, because the single window in our room overlooked a magnificent lake and island filled with exotic birds. Also, our king-size bed was quite comfortable. In addition, the hotel seemed to carefully honor our breakfast wishes by delivering Greek yogurt and granola to our room. But considering this place is quite isolated, we found no welcoming coffee or herbal tea in the lobby. Nor was there any literature with a hint of what to do and see in Sebring. We also were unable to sit and relax with a decafeinated, non-alcoholic beverage in the on-premises restaurant/bar, which, at least for the very few dinner entrees we might have considered ordering there, struck us as over-priced.
