I’m writing this review to set expectations, not discourage. This hotel is more of a luxury 3 star. Stayed for 3 nights to just relax by the pool.
Rooms are small and the detached sink is awkward. I’m fairly tall/not small, and my body was a bit squashed in the toilet. The white aesthetic may look good in pictures but the sink was cracked with stains and everything in general just didn’t look as “bright” in person. Not the biggest deal for the price, but doesn’t exhibit “luxury”.
The pool view is definitely worth it, if you can get a seat. Hotel didn’t seem too busy, but you’d need to arrive by 9/930 to get a sun bed. People seemed to be coming and going throughout the morning/afternoon, so it may not be difficult depending on timing. Food and drinks are fine for what you’re paying. A little disappointed they ran out of fresh coconut, which isn’t a big deal, but this seemed like a trend for my visit. Bartenders/servers only served at the bar and delivered food. At no point would they come collect your things after you’ve finished, and there is a service charge included in each bill. There wasn’t an option for me to leave a tab open, nor was I told at check in that I’d need to leave a deposit if I wanted to charge anything to the room. A bit annoying if you’re there hanging out all day. Again, all not a big deal, but not “5 star luxury”.
I was looking forward to the Luz Tapas Bar to get a break from Thai food. Had to call 3 times to get a reservation and got through 30 min before opening. They open at 4pm, said I could come in then, but the staff were all still having a meeting and it was awkward. They sat me and I got a drink, and then I had to keep walking up to the bar to get another, and this is now after a couple more people have arrived. Definitely caters towards couples and groups which is fine. My least favorite part was that they were out of half the hot tapas menu and then 2 days later, a couple entrees. Food was good. Ambiance is worth it.
I paid around 135usd/night, which isn’t bad at all for US standards, but expectations were higher based on pictures, reviews, hotel website, etc. Maybe my experience would have been better if they weren’t out of everything I wanted to eat (this also applies to when I wanted to order room service.)
