Insadong Chatjip is a charming two-level teahouse with handcrafted Korean herbal teas and a tranquil open-air courtyard perfect for savoring sweet treats.
Insa-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea Get directions
"One of the city’s oldest teahouses, Insadong Chatjip hand-makes everything on its menu, from drinks to desserts. Unlike China’s and Japan’s traditional leaf teas, many of the Korean teas on offer here feature herbs, spices, or fruits like quince and plums that are believed to have medicinal properties. Don’t be surprised if some taste sugary sweet—it’s common to add heaps of honey or syrup to the blends. If you prefer a more delicate flavor, stick to the buckwheat or Ujeon green teas. In addition to drinks, this two-level teahouse has a lovely open-air courtyard where guests can enjoy their tea alongside cookies and rice cakes."
Place to leisurely walk and shop traditional or uniquely Korean craft. Avoid the expensive soft serve ice cream at Insadong 6-gil which seem to have a fluctuated price especially for unsuspected tourists.

This is actually a very cool street filled with cafes, restaurants and shops selling art, artefacts, handcrafted Korean pieces and trinkets of all sorts. The street has a very cool vibe. Worth the walk but only after 11 am, when the street is in full bloom!

Such a great street to wander up and down. There’s both the typical tourist shops but also hand made, local made products. Lots of tea houses and restaurants. A must go to

It’s cool to walk along this street to find something as souvenirs for friends and family when you travel to Seoul. It’s easy to reach here by public transportation such as buses or subway. This street gets more crowded after lunch time. So it’s best to come here after lunch time.

A decent place to go for a walk or stroll - either in the afternoon or the evening. Has a lot of stores, mostly for souvenirs, quick snacks, etc.
Very safe, you don't have to worry about any pickpocket. You'll definitely encounter a lot of foreigners here who are mostly travellers as well.
The whole stretch of Insadong is clean, there is a public toilet around the area as well. Evening walks there is really nice.

Nice street but walkable in 5min. A few odd food venues in the side streets. Nice to walk through coming from the nearby palace grounds.

You must try the Hotteok here - it's out of this world. A sticky honey-centred filling with black sesame, sunflower seeds and a few other types of chopped nuts, in a flour dough, deep-fried. It's cinnamon and honey aroma will have you craving for seconds. This is one of many remedies for the biting cold and your weary feet - promises to revitalise you. Sold at a stall in the middle of this pedestrian street.
