Our tour of Lisbon almost didn’t happen. Apparently, Uber service is hard to come by when thousands of people are debarking from cruise ships at the same time - go figure ;-) Thankfully, Joana patiently waited and the tour went forward as planned. This same patience and care for the group was exhibited throughout the tour.
I admit I was abit overwhelmed by Lisbon at first, but this tour changed that. Aside from being incredibly knowledgeable as a Lisbon native, Joana has a wonderful personality and sense of humor and added her own experiences to give the tour a unique flavor.
We traversed the three unique “districts” of Lisbon with relative ease despite the wide range of vertical elevations covered by the city, learning some tricks used by locals. Something I always look forward to on these sort of tours is learning about the history of a place, and Joana did not disappoint. She even included pasteis de nata (traditional Portuguese custard tarts), bacalhau (fried cod cakes), and green wine as part of the tour.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to get a taste of Lisbon in a short time. After this, I find I’ve fallen in love with this city and definitely want to come back again!
