We stayed for two nights at his hostel, it was clean and did the job for our trip. As a female, I thought privacy for shower and toilet rooms was under prioritised - and for the men’s facilities too! The doors didn’t close, only pulled shut by a small latch. The main entrance door to the showers and toilets was always open, and when I did close it, after leaving the shower it was opened again, facing the other rooms. The women’s showers were timed to seven seconds…. Which as any female will know is ridiculous. More on privacy, the main access door to the hostel on the second floor was always unlocked. Everyone gets an “access key” who stays there, but multiple times outside of reception hours, the door was open and did not require a key fob. This unsettled me greatly as the area was busy with lots of drinking and social life. The kitchen facilities were dirty and unorganised, with a lack of emphasis on maintaining a tidy space. The rooms themselves, we stayed an 8-person room, were generally clean, all occupiers were nice and agreeable, but even then the doors weren’t locked by all people. It seemed like an unspoken agreement to leave it all unlocked. It fitted our needs, but I will not be staying again.
