I was very impressed with Francisco as a person, as well as his teaching methodology. He is a very kind and sincere individual, one who is very friendly and easy to communicate with. He came prepared each day with an individualized lesson that was challenging and motivating. He continually encouraged me along the way, and identified my strengths as well as my weaknesses. Through his teaching style, I was able to make great progress. I plan to go back for more Spanish language lessons and I will definitely request Francisco to be my teacher.

First of all, to get to the right place to the mural and free art exhibitions, please don’t follow the address on Google map which is for the art school. Please enter from the entrance with the sign of Mi Casa restaurant next door to the school. The lady at school registration was not very helpful but the old gentleman at the restaurant entrance was very nice. He waved at me and gestured that I could go inside to take pictures. Here I am. A beautiful space with the incredibly artistic mural and free art exhibitions. Back patio also offers amazing views of the city. Highly recommend to check it out.

I enjoyed my one-on-one sessions with Roman very much. We spent our time conversing only in Spanish. Roman was quick to identify my strengths and weaknesses and was able to guide me so I could remediate bad habits and focus on the areas that needed work. Highly recommend!

I had individual Spanish lessons with a very pleasant and effective teacher via the Instituto Allende. I will return for further lessons when we visit San Miguel de Allende again in 2026.

My alebrije class with Karel Gorenc was fantastic. I do not consider myself an artist but look at what I created!

I just finished a four-week watercolor class at **Instituto Allende** in San Miguel de Allende, and it was an amazing experience! Not only did I learn so much about painting (I didn't even know how to hold a brush at first!), but I also got to spend time in such a beautiful setting. The school is located in a stunning colonial-style building, with charming interior patios and lush gardens that make the perfect backdrop for creativity. Our teacher, Alejandro, was incredibly patient and hands-on. He really helped me grasp watercolor techniques, and I appreciated that he speaks English! Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, the environment is welcoming and friendly. If you're looking to get into painting, I highly recommend taking classes here. It was not just about learning a new skill – it was therapeutic and inspiring. I believe they offer more art classes too. Here are a few of my first watercolor projects!

Yelp
This location has been used for many movies. . It's also a popular spot for weddings and receptions. It's a really gorgeous spot with the view of the cathedral just behind it. There is a small kitchen that serves few light snacks and coffee if you're just strolling through and want to take in the beautiful courtyard.

Yelp
This is an art school that caters to English speakers. The building is worth a look, it's a nice colonial style building with courtyards and columns and is a very pleasant space. I was told that the school was started by American veterans after World War II using veterans benefits money. It seems to be a big success. If you are here for a longer time, you might consider signing up for some classes. There are several offices and shops such as a bookstore inside, and in one corner there is a coffee shop that serves breakfast and lunch.
