InterContinental Barcelona by IHG

If you’re familiar with the brand intercontinental, this one will certainly tick the boxes. The rooms are huge, even in the basic category. There is an excellent spa section and the breakfast is remarkably rich. What is outstanding about this particular location is the staff. At any touchpoint you will be treated not only with great professionalism, as appropriate for this kind of hotel, but with genuine warmth and kindness. I would particularly like to remark Miguel from the Arrel restaurant as well as the attendant who helped me in the spa. The other exceptional aspect of this particular Intercontinental hotel is the location and its integration with the surroundings: on the one side, you are in the middle of the city, just 10 minutes away from the Plaza d’Espanya, literally across the street from the fairgrounds; but also it’s quiet. The hotel sits at the foot of the Montjuic, just 10 minutes away also from the Catalan Museum of national Art. And then, when you dine at the restaurant and look out the window, or when you look out the window near the elevators on each floor, you almost feel the city coming into the hotel to absorb you. The architectonic implementation of this aspect is excellent. Therefore here luxury doesn’t mean seclusion, but being in the middle of everything; yet at the same time having full control of your space and your experience: how much you want to let in, how much you want to be for yourself. It doesn’t get much better than that. What a true delight staying here, what a memorable weekend. 100% recommendation. I will be so happy to come back in the future.

Everything we experienced in this hotel is quality. Room size was large and the bedding and pillows were so soft and comfortable. Everything is so modern and fresh feeling. Staff were all super friendly and spoke English. Especially the reception staff. Perfect location to walk to Palau Saint Jordi for concerts etc. We decided to try the breakfast just to see if the experience was as good as the rest of the hotel. Its very expensive at €35 p/p. But there was a fabulous choice of cold meats, cheeses, salmon, fruit, yogurts, breads and sweet desserts. The cooked section was the only let down. The quality wasn't on the same level and it was only luke warm at best. Also it wasn't made clear when we were seated that we had to order what type of eggs we wanted at the table via a waiter. So when I went to get my cooked selection I thought I could order my eggs at the station. The chef just looked at me and then turned his back on me. So that was the only part of the whole experience that was dissapointing.

I really enjoyed my stay at the InterContinental Barcelona. The lobby is stunning and gives a luxury vibe right away. My room was modern, spotless, and had an incredibly comfortable bed. The rooftop bar was a nice surprise—perfect place to relax after exploring the city. Only downside was that the pool area can get crowded in the afternoon.

Our stay at InterContinental Barcelona was truly unforgettable. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with the warmest welcome, immediately setting the tone for our honeymoon. Club InterContinental went above and beyond in every possible way—especially Paula and Fernando, who made our stay feel incredibly personal and special. Paula was an absolute joy. She helped us plan sightseeing, secured tickets we weren’t even able to get online, patiently answered my husband’s many questions about places to go, shared Spanish Christmas traditions with us, and did it all with genuine warmth and happiness. Her enthusiasm and care made us feel so taken care of. Fernando was equally wonderful—assisting us each morning at breakfast, printing the tickets Paula had secured, making sure we had the marshmallows we fell in love with, and checking in on us throughout our stay to ensure everything was perfect. Together, they made us feel less like hotel guests and more like family. As a beautiful surprise, strawberries and champagne were delivered to our room to help us celebrate our honeymoon, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. The hotel also graciously accommodated an early check-in, which made our arrival day seamless and stress-free. We cannot recommend this hotel—and especially Club InterContinental—highly enough. The service, warmth, and attention to detail turned our Barcelona stay into something truly magical. We will cherish these memories forever. 💛✨

I had a wonderful stay at the InterContinental Barcelona. The room was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. A special highlight was the Club Lounge, where Julian truly stood out. His outstanding service, professionalism, and warm attitude made my stay even more enjoyable. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Overall, an excellent hotel with great staff. I would definitely stay here again!

A wonderful stay at IC Barcelona! We spent last week at IC Barcelona and were truly impressed from the moment we arrived. The kindness and hospitality of the entire team made us feel welcome and cared for throughout our stay. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and sincere — the kind of service that stays with you. The hotel’s quiet location was a real gift. Although close to everything we wanted to explore, it offered a peaceful retreat from the city’s bustle, allowing us to unwind completely. Our room was exceptionally spacious, beautifully maintained, and designed for comfort. It gave us all the room we needed to relax after long days of discovering Barcelona. And the breakfast… simply amazing. A generous selection, fresh ingredients, and thoughtful touches that made every morning feel like a treat. IC Barcelona exceeded our expectations in every way. We left with great memories and would happily return! A warm thank you to the frontdesk staff (especially Adelina!), concierges (Gema!), security, breakfast staff (Juan!), and so many others who made our stay remarkable.

Wonderful place to stay! The staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rooms are very nice! Very comfortable. Excellent bathroom! I like the location. The hotel has a Michelin * restaurant, and down the street is another restaurant with a Michelin mention. Plus tapas places and bars nearby. A very nice little brunch spot is just across the street. I will choose this hotel again!

Faultless stay ! Intercontinental Barcelona a rather new (opened in 2021) and well located venue particularly good and well-serviced Only 7 floors, it has an intimacy flair, that few IC have. The beel boy came my way to take my suitcase when I arrives and as an IHG Ambassador upon entry, I was taken to the lounge area for my check-in. The hotel looks brand new, both posh, modern in local colors, copper and bronze. Check in was super professional, Joan was attentative and knowledgeable, informed me of all perks. First set in room #649, a deluxe type with sofa and large bed, the room has a nespresso machine and a nice view on Montjuic, due to some loud music coming from the other building, the lounge staff decided to move me across the door and Upgraded to a Jr Suite on 6th floor, #650. 3 areas, bed room behind a sliding door, a nice living room in 2 spaces, and a huge bathroom divided as well between toilets / tub and shower / sink areas. Amenities are present, as per new IC standard, with wall fitted dispensers (in the name of "sustainabiliy" over luxury experience) gone the days of Agraria goods. Room was totally sound proof, mattress and sheets are of the highest standard, like in most IC's, I had a very good night. Nice bonus, it has a small terrace with fantastic view on the city. Do not miss going on the 7th floor terrace, even out of season, the views on Barcelona at 270 degrees are incredible. That terrace has an outdoor tiny pool, it was open in January when I stayed, but I made use of the fantastic spa, which is free for Ambassador members. The spa has a 10m heated pool with different stations and showers, and being almost alone i could do few laps in the hot water The lounge on 1st floor is small, but very comfy and serves tapas in the evening till 7pm and alcohol till 23h00. In the morning the breakfast is served there too, awesome buffet and a la carte dishes. I tried the Arrel restaurant for diner, very nice menu, prices rather acceptable for a 5 stars, the fish was well cooked, full of flavors and well presented. The hotel has as well a 1 star michelin restaurant called Quirat, but they serve only multi course diners in the evening, prices around 110€ pp, very reasonable. The staff was very dedicated throughout the entire venue, from lounge to turndown service. This venue is the embodiment of IC, definitely one of the best I have stayed in around Europe this past 10 years. Highly recommended, in particular for the service level and the staff, the quality of the rooms and the location a.stone throw from Plazza d Espana, avenida Para lel, and 2kms to the beach front.

This is no longer the Crowne Plaza. It's now the IHG Intercontinental Barcelona, and it's exceptional. Room was big and well equipped. Bar and restaurant was great. Rooftop was amazing for an afternoon cava. I will be back.

Always stay at the intercontinental chain and never disappoints. One of the nicest hotels in Barcelona and the moment we walked in, I was escorted to Lounge access and upgraded. Room was big for the area with 2 full beds. Pool was small but very modern looking. Restaurant was pricy but good. Great location though, 5 mins from the magic fountain which is spectacular and can't not even compare it to Vegas. Tons of tapas around. You get what you pay for and I will be back this hotel. Service was too notched.

It took about 30 USD to get to the hotel by taxi; the taxi took a credit card. When my taxi arrived, there was no bellman to help with my three bags. I fumbled through the rotating door for a bit before another guest helped me. Then, when I was nearly at the desk, the doorman appeared and loaded my luggage into a cart- a bit late. Things went up from there. The guy who checked me had the patience of a saint as I asked numerous questions. He gave me his undivided attention as the line grew longer behind me. How refreshing! We went through a map and I got oriented. He explained that the lobby bar is closed in the summer but the rooftop bar is open- yay! I was upgraded since I am a Gold member. The room was nice and spacious but right off the elevator. You could hear the ding from inside. But I was so happy to get a room that early in the morning. I liked the bathroom set up and the shower was its own special heaven. The TV was huge but not many English choices at first glance. The station about Discovering Barcelona was under construction. There was an espresso machine in the room, a few bottles of water, some cookies and tea- all complimentary. WiFi worked well and was free. There was no clock in the room. It drove me crazy! One has to pass through the spa to get to the gym. The feeling of tranquility hits you immediately. I immediately wanted to spend the 15 Euro (member rate) for all the spa Facilites but feared after my red eye flight it would just be an expensive nap. I did ultimately use it during my visit and loved it. He big pool had multiple jets under the water and into the water. There was also a sauna and steam room right there. But they should have water or tea available. I also asked for a tour/explanation but she said she couldn't leave the desk. But the desk was empty later for quiete awhile when I looked for a drink. I forged ahead to the gym. The gym was small but had the latest equipment although not all the high tech screen options worked. But machines worked they were clean. The gym was hot. Really hot. Like unsafe hot. There was bottled water in there too. There was a hamper for dirty towels but there were no clean ones on the first day or the third day. Someone came in and replaced the water bottles. There were no sanitary swipes. The stairwell was wide, clean, and well lighted. With no luggage, it was easy to use versus the elevator. Rooftop bar is a hidden gem! I went there for a cocktail one night and it was great. Hey gave olives and nibbles with my champagne.

We checked into the Crowne Plaza on July 8 for 6 nights before a cruise we were taking that departed from Barcelona. This hotel was located out of the city center a little bit but worked well for us. It is located a block away from the National Museum of Catalan with the Fountain Magica also close by. We were about an 8-10 Euro cab ride from most all the places we wanted to see. There was a taxi lot just in front of the hotel which was very convenient. The staff that worked there were all very friendly and accommodating. There were multiple languages spoken including English, Spanish and Catalan. There was a roof top bar, Club 173, Rooftop Terrace that was only one floor up from us. I will review that separately but was very nice and convenient after a long hot day visiting the sites. We stayed in room #643 which had a king bed and a pull-out double bed within the sofa. There was a large work space counter in the room as well with a lot of room to work and charge electronics. The finishes were a little dated, but the room was nicely furnished with a large screen tv, refrigerator, safe, reclining chair and large closet area for hanging and storing clothing. There was a light that was on a motion sensor foyer area when you first walked in. This would go on and off (quickly) and was a little on the annoying side. It would come on in the middle of the night when on the way to the toilet waking up my family. Our room was not serviced one day, but fortunately we arrived back at the room around 5:00 pm on that day and brought this to the attention of the room service people who were able to get the room serviced. Also, there were 3 of us in the room but would only receive clean towels for 2 on more than one occasion. Other than that, all was good. We liked the Crowne Plaza Fira Center and would consider staying here again but also would consider places more city center near La Rambla area.

My review is a few months late, but I promised myself I'd get around to it due to some crazy stuff that happened (both good and bad, I guess). I'm Spire Elite with IHG and was very pleased with the upgrade we received from a standard room to a Junior Suite with a nice sized living room, separate bedroom, large bathroom, and balcony. I'll also give props to the club lounge, which is one of the nicest out there, but is NOT free for elite status members. It's 20 Euro per person for Spire Elite, compared to 25 for general members, so not really fantastic on the recognition there. The breakfast was very nice and the afternoon apps were pretty good, but there was only any signage out once that told us what things were. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, you'll be asking constantly to know what's in things. At least put a sign like, "contains beef" or "contains pork," etc., that way people know at a high level what's in it. All things considered, I really appreciated the generous upgrade, so am giving them 4 stars despite what was a pretty strange situation on our last night (New Year's Eve)... We simply wanted to eat some food. However, the restaurant apparently is fully booked way in advance, so we could not eat down there. They referred us to the bar. So the bar had some decent looking bar food, but when we tried to order it, they said the bar menu for the night was actually being switched with another menu where everything was 2x expensive (like, $28 US for a hamburger). So they told us we could go back to our rooms and order room service. SURPRISE! The normal room service was not available and they also were on the abbreviated menu. We went down to speak with the manager and met up with a whole crowd of angry guests who just wanted to eat a simple dinner, but could not do so because 1) nothing around the hotel was open or had space available, and 2) the hotel had more than doubled their food prices. The manager insisted that this was to minimize the number of different things the hotel had to cook since it was such a busy night, but if that were the case then they could have maintained the regular prices. This was just completely absurd. Ultimately they did agree to honor the regular room service menu for guests who were downstairs complaining, but it was a huge hassle and they acted like they were going out of their way to do us a favor when all we wanted was the regular offerings that we had expected. (It would have been a different story if they'd given us advance notice that standard food options would not be available on NYE; we'd have understood and made other arrangements. But our assumption, and rightfully so, was "if we don't find dinner somewhere else, we can always just go back to the hotel and order room service.") It ended up being about 2.5 hours from the time we first tried to get food to the time we actually were eating (and at that point they brought the wrong dish, which had meat on it when we are vegetarians and asked them to not put on the meat.) The location is pretty decent; very walkable area, lots happening, a little convenience store nearby, some cool restaurants, etc. Overall I'd probably recommend this hotel, but if you happen to be staying on a peak night or when there are special events going on, I'd definitely recommend making sure there won't be any anomalous changes to their offerings.

This place is great. The staff is truly pleasant and professional. My husband loved the service here. It's near many attractions. The rooftop is great. The staff is wonderful and kind. Best stay we had while we traveled throughout Europe.

The best hotel & service we received on our trip. Better than the Indigo and Intercontinental in Madrid. We were provided the club lounge and upgraded to the junior suite because of my spire status. Upon arrival, we were brought up to the lounge for check in. The lounge itself is quite nice and has lots of drinks and amenities to use. We were surprised when we got back to the room after dinner as the staff had provided us with champagne and chocolate as a honeymoon gift. We checked out the spa and would've definitely given it a shot if we had stayed longer. We'll probably stay here again during future visits.

We enjoyed our stay at the Crown Plaza Barcelona - Fira Center. The hotel is very clean, with modern upgraded rooms, reliable free wifi. Points to consider: * The beds were very comfortable, noticeably better than many other places we have stayed in Europe. * Hotel is a good 5 minute walk to the Espanya metro station. I generally prefer to be closer... but it's no problem to walk it in good weather. * There are restaurants in the area, but the better restaurant options seem to be in different areas of town. * The Magic Fountain is an awesome evening attraction... and this hotel is an easy walk from there. * Staff was very helpful, friendly and good for English speakers. * Hotel prices are a great value, compared to the prices in the more populated areas. We did not use the restaurant, so cannot comment there. I liked staying the in Plaza Espanya area... it's off the major tourist path, but is a major hub for airport buses, metro and train service (for day trips out of the city). The staff also had some good recommendations for restaurants in the general area when we did not feel like headed over to the more populated areas. I would stay here again for sure.

We loved our stay in this hotel. We stayed one night before a cruise & 2 nights after. Our flight was canceled and the hotel was very accommodating, even making sure we kept our same room. We highly recommend the rooftop bar, especially Francisco the bartender, who made our visit so enjoyable! If I'm ever back in Barcelona, I'd stay here again

Upon arrival Jouma was great, checked us in quick and I believe he upgraded us to a nice room unless standard room is like the one we had, it's just too nice for the price. Customer service is excellent at Crowne Plaza by far the best so far and we been traveling the Europe for last 2 weeks staying only 2 nights at different city. 360 lounge upstairs service and food is great also amazing view of the sea (slightly) but pretty much you can see north and south of Barcelona. There was a small mix up with our laundry, however they did a very well job and manager was on top of it. Overall very nice place to stay, highly recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona this is the perfect location for all attraction.

This Crowne Plaza is new in Barcelona... recently rebranded from Fiera Palace. The staff is very nice and welcoming... Always happy to help with a smile. Rooms have lot of cool amenities and gadgets... Including a plug to charge your iphone and connect it to the tv. Platinum members get a coupon for a free drink, newspaper, etc....

When I arrived, the front desk person brought me to the club lounge to check in. The concierge was friendly and professional. The room I got was clean, modern and quite large. I booked the room with club access. The breakfast in the club lounge was really good. It was probably the best breakfast I had in any hotel club lounge I stayed before. It was also convenient to have drinks all day long in the lounge after coming back from sightseeing. The hotel location is in a quite neighborhood. To go to the city center area, you do have to take metro or taxi. It is about 2 blocks from the metro station. It is also not far from a hop on hop off bus stop. Overall I like this hotel and definitely will stay here again.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We are IHG members and as such were instantly upgraded to one of the club rooms. This was a welcomed benefit after being in a cramped cruise cabin for 12 nights. The room was quite spacious, well appointed and modern. It included bath robes and slippers, as an added bonus! The customer service was always helpful. While the location is a little outside of the main tourist areas, it was within walking distance of the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. We were also provided with directions to the local metro station nearby, so we could explore the city on our own. I can't comment on the restaurants as we chose to enjoy places outside of the hotel.

So pleased with this hotel! We love the location just down the street from the Magic Fountains of Montjuic and Plaza Espanya with metro station though we find it easy to walk everywhere- the Port, gothic district, shopping and restaurants. The room is nice and large by European standards. Hurray for a real King bed! We paid for Club Room access which includes a delicious breakfast and drinks and tapas at lunch and dinner for 40 Euro per room per night. So worth it for 2 adults and our 4 year old. Moët bubbly every night for me! We met another traveling family and appreciated the nice room to socialize. Staff everywhere are multilingual, friendly, and supportive. We are looking forward to trying their new spa before we leave. It's gorgeous! We took a taxi from the airport- easy and inexpensive but since this hotel recently changed names, be prepared with the exact address. Highly recommended!

Beautiful hotel in Barcelona Spain. The staff at the check in desk are wonderful. I never felt rushed and they don't let you go to your room until they have fully answered all of your questions and have seen to all of your needs. The young lady who checked my family in provided us with a map of local attractions, exchanged US dollars for Euros, and recommended great places to eat. Our room was beautiful and the master bath was stunning. My wife loved the shower so much that at this time we are in the process of remodeling one of our bathrooms to match it! My daughter loved the stairs inside the room and quickly announced that the bed upstairs was hers. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Extras include: Free Wi-Fi, plugs for charging iphones and tablets, robes and slippers, and a fantastic restaurant downstairs. Next time we are in Barcelona, this is where we will stay.

Great staff - front desk, bell staff and dining room. Very clean and great amenities in room to include bottled water and snacks, coffee and tea with hot pot for water. Great spa and on site restaurant with a huge spread for weekend buffet! Truly enjoyable stay!

Great location, nice spacious rooms, excellent breakfasts. The dinner at the Mall restaurant was pretty bland. The spa massages were weak. Was hoping for a good firm massage but no dice.

This hotel is the epitome of average. The rooms, beds and room service food were all just average. Good enough for a quick stay but nothing special.

Crowne Plaza is conveniently located near Plaza d'Espagna and a short 10-minute walk to the museum which was visible from our room. It's also about a 15-20 minute walk to the Castle at the top of the hill. While not in the Gothic quarter, taxis were omnipresent in front of the hotel to transport us to the trendy tourist area in about 10 minutes. The rooms are ample size and the bathrooms are efficient and clean. We bought the room and breakfast package which was a terrific value. Great buffet and super helpful staff. Take advantage of the indoor pool/spa after a long day walking around. While it was too cold to use the pool on the 7th floor, the view is amazing from the deck where plenty of lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas look to be a great spot in the summer. Staff was incredibly helpful with restaurant recommendations and helping us book train tickets to Madrid. Business center has about 8 Mac computers with pre-loaded video games if your young one needs to plug in for a while. Hope to return one day.
