The Best Hotels in Europe With Incredible Views - AFAR

"Located on the Pest side of the Danube, the hotel places guests in prime position to admire the majestic Buda Castle perched atop Castle Hill, a historic complex originally built in the 1200s and repeatedly rebuilt over centuries. Visitors can sample high-end Hungarian pálinka at the Corso Bar while soaking in the captivating Old World panorama across the river." - Jake Emen

From the moment I arrived at the InterContinental Budapest, I was treated to an exceptional experience, but what truly elevated my stay was the Club Executive service. The staff were simply wonderful—immensely helpful and attentive without being intrusive, making me feel genuinely cared for throughout my time there. The culinary offerings at the Club Lounge were a daily highlight, with a fantastic variety of high-quality dishes. Beyond the lounge, I had the pleasure of dining at the Lebanese restaurant, and it was absolutely brilliant. The food was authentic and flavorful, and the hummus was so excellent I even took some away with me to enjoy as a snack later. My riverside room was a dream, with spectacular views that were simply breathtaking. The comfort of the bed was also a standout—I have never slept so well. The combination of the impeccable Club Executive service, the wonderful staff, the comfortable beds, and the amazing views made my stay at the InterContinental Budapest truly unforgettable. Highly recommended!

This is a very, very nice four-star hotel. It's not quite luxury, but it's certainly not budget. If you get a room on the Danube side of the building, the views are spectacular. Within a 10-minute walk is a great area for shopping and dining, and if you can do a 20 minute walk, there are many, many sites to see. It is close to public transportation. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Budapest and loved the location – right on the Danube River with a beautiful view of the National Gallery. The hotel itself is a bit on the older side, and the rooms could definitely use some renovation, but the service made up for it. They surprised us with champagne and dessert for our anniversary and my wife’s birthday, which was a really thoughtful touch.||Breakfast buffet was decent, though not particularly outstanding compared to other 5-star hotels. Still, you can’t beat the location – walking distance to many attractions and perfect for enjoying the river views. A solid choice if you value great service and prime location over modern style.

This hotel is a little older and rooms a little tired but clean. Things kept falling off, light switches, bath pull up, curtains! |Complimentary water and drinks - nice touch. I think that’s part of premium room. View from room was fab! |Bar area is a little soulless but the piano playing helped lift ambience. |Breakfast was okay, quite a lot of choice packed in quite tightly, you have to navigate around everyone, the staff working the tables very friendly and helpful. |But its location and view can’t be faulted. Central to everything. It did have spa and pool but we didn’t use it. |A good solid choice for medium budget.

From the moment we arrived to the minute we departed after 4 nights, we feel welcomed. The room was a delight and the beautiful view of the Buda Castle and Danube River was just the added bonus. We thoroughly recommend Azr Restaurant for dinners and room service. Conveniently located to all activities and great walking riverfront. If we come to Budapest again, we will absolutely stay again.

This hotel is awesome on all levels (no pun intended). The service is top notch for anywhere, but in Eastern Europe, it's incredible! Good service seems to be lacking in Eastern Europe from my experience. The breakfast is wonderful. I had Natalia as my server and she was top notch with me and all the diners that she came in contact with. She needs a raise. The facility is very clean all around. Bonus is they gave me a river view room on the 8th floor because of my status with IHG. The view from the room is incredible at night, loved it!! And to the management, please keep up the good work.

The hotel is definitely in a great location and that really is the reason you might book. We paid for a river view room and it was a fantastic vista - especially at night with the Royal Palace on the Buda side lot up. The hotel is located next to the Chain bridge, so a good location to get anywhere in Pest or Buda. Whilst the room had excellent views and was generally well appointed, the decor and bathroom were a little tired. We also struggled to get the WIFI and TV working. The bar service was generally ok and the staff were helpful. The breakfast area was a bit chaotic and, whilst there was a good choice of food, some of the hot food was not great. That said, we would consider staying again if we came back to Budapest.

Great location. Clean. Nice bar and lobby. Pianist in the lobby at night. Next to the river. Centrally located. Good Lebanese restaurant at the hotel with outdoor seating by the river. Easy to walk to many destinations.
