The Best Hotels in Europe With Incredible Views - AFAR

"Located on the Pest side of the Danube, the hotel places guests in prime position to admire the majestic Buda Castle perched atop Castle Hill, a historic complex originally built in the 1200s and repeatedly rebuilt over centuries. Visitors can sample high-end Hungarian pálinka at the Corso Bar while soaking in the captivating Old World panorama across the river." - Jake Emen

Highlights of my trip. The service is really good and most importantly courteous! We have the river view room which is stunning. Bfast is really good and they even offer free access to their club lounge. Also Champaign and cake sent to our room! Love the whole experience

I stayed here from October 31 to November 4, 2025 and my stay was magical. The hotel is lovely and the location is perfect as you can pretty much walk everywhere to see all the beautiful sights that Budapest has to offer. The staff at the hotel is super friendly and wonderful and they made my stay extra special. I had some cocktails at the restaurant that were delicious and again the staff was superb. The personnel at the front door were always smiling and courteous as were the people behind the check in counter when I walked by them each day. The lounge is great and everyone there went out of their way to make everything perfect. I felt I made friends with the lounge staff which was lovely. I also had a facial at the Spa and the young gentleman who gave me the facial was friendly, respectful, warm and welcoming and the facial is by far the best I’ve ever had. My hotel room was clean and I had no issues with the size or that it’s a bit outdated. My view also wasn’t the best but that didn’t matter to me because everything else was top notch. I hated to leave the hotel on my last day and I hated leaving Budapest. It’s a magically beautiful city and all the people I encountered were so wonderful and lovely. I’ll definitely be back to your hotel and the city. Bravo to your staff. They are awesome.

What a wonderful stay! Rooms had a view of the Danube and almost all of the bridges. Everyone on the staff is wonderful. More than happy to help out with any request. We had access to the Ambassador Club which is great! Especially Jeanette who is outstanding employee. Stay here if you want to experience a wonderful experience. And it is very walking friendly to many of the places you’d want to visit.

Disappointing stay. Find another hotel if you are looking for comfort. Do not expect a 4 star level stay by US standards, although you will be paying for it. ||The worst thing about it was the bathroom. It is small, and the shower is tricky to use. While it has amazing water pressure, the shower faucet is not capable of handling it. We had to call service to show us how to use it - you turn the water on at about half strength, then you can engage the shower, and only after that you can open the faucet to full stream. At full stream you will not be able to engage the shower. ||On to the drain. It was set to closed and it requires considerable strength to turn the knob to open it. My wife could not operate it. ||If you use the shower, no matter how careful you are with setting the curtain, there will be a puddle covering about half of the area. Given how small the bathroom is, that has a pretty big impact. ||There are some positives as well. Customer service is stellar, by any standard. That is saying a lot considering most establishments in Budapest treat you rudely. ||The view is beautiful as well. ||I wish I cold have given a positive review. I have stayed in Budapest many times, at hotels which are of lower grade, and this one comes in last place. Next visit I will book a different place.

The location is hard to beat — right on the Danube with a perfect view of the Chain Bridge and Buda Castle. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained, though starting to show a bit of age compared to newer hotels nearby. Service was professional and courteous, especially at the front desk and concierge. Breakfast selection was solid, with plenty of local and international options. It’s more of a classic, polished hotel than a trendy one — ideal if you value comfort, consistency, and a central location.

This is a very, very nice four-star hotel. It's not quite luxury, but it's certainly not budget. If you get a room on the Danube side of the building, the views are spectacular. Within a 10-minute walk is a great area for shopping and dining, and if you can do a 20 minute walk, there are many, many sites to see. It is close to public transportation. I would definitely stay here again.

A hotel that is getting on in years and does not meet today's standards. For nostalgic reasons, I wanted to spend a night there and booked a premium room to have the perfect view of Buda with the castle and Matthias Church. It was truly breathtaking and the only reason to book a room there. The spa was disappointing, but the breakfast was sensational. The concierge helped me with a small problem and was extremely friendly.

View from the room at the InterContinental Budapest. Waking up to the Danube, Buda Castle, Chain Bridge, Gellért Hill and all the river boats right under the window — honestly unbeatable. You’re on the Pest side, but you get a full panorama of Buda like a postcard. Rooms themselves are a bit classic/old school in style, but the location and the view are 10/10. You can just sit by the window with coffee and watch the city move.
