I stayed at this hotel recently and overall, I had a good experience. The location is excellent, the cleanliness is commendable, and the food was of good quality. However, I feel it’s important to mention two incidents that affected my overall impression.
The first situation occurred during breakfast. My friend and I were dining at the restaurant, and there were some bowls of nuts available. My friend asked a waiter if he could take a small portion in a takeaway cup to eat while walking. The waiter initially agreed to bring a cup, but then returned and informed us that it is not allowed to take any food outside the restaurant. While we understand hotel policies, the manner in which the situation was handled felt unnecessary and disappointing.
The second issue happened at checkout. I was surprised to find out that the hotel did not accept payment in US dollars and insisted I pay in the local currency at a much higher exchange rate than the official one. The total bill was around $1,000. While the official exchange rate at exchange offices was 123, the hotel charged me at a rate of 130 — meaning I paid 130,000 instead of 123,000 in local currency. When I raised the issue and explained that 130 is not the official rate, the staff simply responded, “This is the hotel policy.” Ironically, the same hotel had exchanged currency for me earlier at a rate of 118, which is common in hotels as they usually offer a lower rate — but charging above the official rate for payments is not acceptable and felt unfair.
In summary, while the hotel itself is quite good in many aspects, these experiences left me with mixed feelings, particularly regarding customer service and payment transparency.
