IHG Hotel Company Bans Mini Plastic Toiletries - AFAR

"Announced in late July a pledge to eliminate miniature bathroom amenities across its 17 hotel brands by 2021, replacing single-use mini plastic toiletries with bulk-sized or refillable options; presented as the first global hotel group to ensure all its brands remove mini plastic toiletries. The company reports averaging about 200 million mini toiletries annually across nearly 843,000 guest rooms in roughly 5,600 hotels. The shift is framed as both an environmental initiative to cut plastic waste and a cost-saving measure for hotels, with several brands in the portfolio already transitioning or phasing out mini bottles." - Katherine LaGrave
