Intercontinental Kunming

Excellent stay at the Intercontinental in Kunming. The location is near the lake and a bit further out from the city centre but taxis are convenient. Very good value with spacious and clean rooms. It's a very big hotel with great facilities, including an indoor pool, 24h gym, large garden, bar and restaurants. Service was fantastic throughout our stay, and the front desk (Xiao Fu) helped with various queries promptly and also upgraded our room at check-in. Highly recommended.

Lovely gardens, difficult to find even one staff that speak basic English so thank goodness my partner speaks Mandarin. The pool feels extremely governed and full of locals. Older men and women swimming hacking their lungs out by spitting at each end of the pool, a man gurgling and spitting out water loudly into the rubbish bin, very disgusting and too busy. Life guard telling me I need a swim hat for my baby who has next to no hair and his head is not near the water. Does not feel like a nice hotel pool but a very governed public pool. Have stayed in multiple IHG lounges worldwide...have just tested out the afternoon tea here. It was below average. Stale sandwiches, fishy tasting tuna on soggy bread. The hotel needs a proper outdoor resort style pool. We spend our days taking ten minutes to get anywhere...rooms are ridiculously far from the restaurants, pool and lobby. Staff at reception and concierge working hard and friendly. Overall a lot of room for improvement.

We feel incredibly lucky to have chosen the InterContinental Kunming for our first visit to the city—it truly made our stay unforgettable. The hotel is stunning and spacious, and everything from the room to the staff and the food exceeded our expectations. One especially memorable gesture was on our last morning: we had an early flight, and the staff thoughtfully prepared two breakfast bags for us. It was such a kind and impressive surprise! We will absolutely stay here again on future visits and will proudly recommend this hotel to our friends.

Among the many highlights, Ms. Mia at the Front Desk deserves special recognition for her impeccable service. She went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests, even anticipating needs we hadn’t explicitly mentioned. Her professionalism, warm demeanor, and attention to detail turned a simple stay into an unforgettable experience. The Children’s Theme Room was an absolute delight! Our little ones were thrilled by the creative design and thoughtful amenities tailored just for them. The exquisite children’s pastries were not only visually stunning but also delicious—a perfect touch that added magic to their day. Additionally, the breakfast spread was exceptional, offering a wide variety of flavors that catered to both adults and children.

I had an absolutely fantastic day here—this place is truly massive, and the service is impeccable. From the various restaurants to the executive lounge, everything was genuinely impressive. I’m a big fan of Yunnan cuisine, and this InterContinental perfectly captures the charm of Yunnan’s flavors. We brought our child along, and they loved it here too. So, whether it’s the location, the food, the service, or just the overall vibe, I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

We had an unforgettable stay at InterContinental Kunming from 4th to 6th April in celebration of our anniversary. The team went above and beyond to make it special for us, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful touches prepared for the occasion—it made our stay feel extra memorable. A special mention to the dinner service at Xiang Dao Xuan, which was nothing short of exceptional. The staff member who served us was attentive, professional, and warm—truly top notch. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you again for making our time in Kunming so special.

Nice hotel in Kunming and the place is well maintained. Rooms are big and reflect the Intercontinental hotel standard. Service is impeccable and breakfast spread is good. Stayed for 2 nights recently. Only downside is location of the hotel if you want to go into the city or look for food elsewhere. Have a little commication issue if you don't speak Mandarin.
