The Intercontinental Le Moana Resort is located on the main island of Bora Bora which offers some advantages compared to others located across the lagoon on the more remoter motus. The main advantage is easier access to a broader range of off-site restaurants and activities. The location on Matira point is excellent with beaches on both sides of the point and great views of both the sunrise and sunset.|The swimming and snorkelling are exceptional, and I especially liked the work being undertaken by the resort to rebuild the coral and encouraging sea life.|The resort itself is of an older style (think lots of bamboo, woven wall matting and thatched roofs) and is almost of boutique size compared to those across the lagoon. These attributes give the resort a cosier, more intimate feel. but may not suit those looking for a more chic, modern or contemporary vibe.|We stayed in a Lagoon View Overwater Bungalow for 8 nights. The bungalow consisted of a bedroom, a separate lounge area, a large bathroom/wardrobe area and an outside deck with deckchairs and built-in table and seats. It was clean, well equipped and very comfortable.|The restaurant food was OK, but not outstanding. Luckily, there are 2 good restaurants within easy walking distance, the Bora Bora Beach Club and The Lucky House (the latter also does good takeaway pizzas). The more upmarket Saint James restaurant is also available using their shuttle taxi.|The service at the resort is efficient and extremely friendly. The housekeeping in particular were prompt and efficient in their daily servicing of the bungalow.|If you choose to stay on the "mainland" of Bora Bora, the Intercontinental Le Moana Resort is a good value, convenient and comfortable proposition.
