InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora Resort

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in an over the water hut. The experience was amazing and every staff member was so friendly. We chose this resort since it is attached to the island and we wanted to go explore easily. We were able to rent a car and drive around the island. The resort was helpful setting up transportation for us to the Heiva downtown and to a different restaurant off the property. We enjoyed the happy hour at the resort and the breakfasts and dinners. There was always fresh fish. The resort has great amenities available for no fee including snorkeling equipment, paddle boards, and kayaks. The resort is maintained very well and the manager always went out of her way to make sure we were doing well. I definitely recommend this resort and am happy we chose them! We really enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning and seeing the stingrays go by. The housekeeping was prompt everyday and always made sure we had everything we needed. We also really loved Vahine whenever we ate she was a pleasure to talk to.

Le Moana is an excellent hotel. We actually stayed in March 2023. We had a room above the water. We did not need to go very far for snorkelling. We had just to dive at the foot of our bedroom! We could see a huge and friendly number of multi coloured fish. During our stay we saw just one black tip small shark. We did not adventure to the middle of the laguna... Bora Bora is a great destination for the view BUT do not expect much in terms of shopping in a very small town except for stores that are selling pearls (white and black) and a small supermarket. Bora Bora was very far for us. Five hours flight to San Francisco + A couple of hours lay over + 9 hours flight to Papeete (Tahiti) + We spend the night in the Papeete airport and took one hour flight the morning after to Bora Bora... The hotel: great AC, spacious room, good bathroom with shower, etc. Restaurant: good food. Ask for Barbara the Manager of the hotel. She has a great sense of customer service. Should we come back? We would love to if it was not too far...

Stayed here for one night in Bora Bora in an OWB. Really appreciated the customer service at this hotel! They were able to accommodate an early check in AND a late check out which allowed us to make the most out of our time. ||Upon check in the General Manager also greeted us and thanked us for being IHG members and she also checked in with us the next morning at breakfast. ||Would highly recommend staying here as the Le Moana offers the overwater bungalows at some of the most affordable rates on the island while not compromising on service . It’s also optimally located the main island near Matira Beach so you can check out local shops and restaurants without being isolated. ||The snorkeling is really nice around the hotel being close to Matira and you can even spot sting rays from your bungalow. Kayaks and snorkel gear on site included in your stay. ||The bungalow itself was obviously stunning and we were able to have an outside massage company come set up as well which was really nice. ||Another nice touch to the service is they give you complimentary reusable water bottles (which are really nice quality) that you can refill on site instead of wasting the plastic. ||10/10 recommend! Thank you to the staff for excellent service and making our stay great!

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. There were many pluses and minuses.||The pluses: Easy airport transfer via boat to & from the resort. Well organized. Friendly service. Beautiful over-the-water bungalow. It wasn't brand new, but it was large, comfortable, and charming. The see-through coffee table was a marvel. GREAT shower water pressure! Very comfortable beds. So wonderful and safe to just hop off your deck and swim. Rays would glide by every day. (They're harmless and beautiful!)||The resort beach area is spectacular. The pool is small, but nice. LOTS of shade, which we appreciated. We could always find nice places to sit. We really liked being on the mainland because we could walk to grocery stores, other restaurants, and hiking locations. Easy cab ride to town. The public beach across the street was not nearly as windy (we stayed during "windy winter") and was a superior place for swimming. We left our towels, shoes, etc. on the beach while swimming/snorkeling and it was safe. The hotel also offered free metal water bottles and refill stations, which was a nice, sustainable touch. We had mostly very friendly service.||The minuses: There is no gym in this location and they charge $40 per person to take the boat shuttle to their other property that has a gym. What a rip off. We even wanted to shuttle to the other property for lunch but they would charge us. ||Most service was friendly, but one French guy at reception was so rude. When we asked if he would help us change a flight (we didn't have international calling), he responded, "I'm busy." When our friends called reception to say that requested turndown service didn't happen, he responded, "that's the hotel's problem, not mine." (That being said, the concierge was wonderful as were servers, transport folks, beach folks...)||Turn-down service was just them dropping off new towels, not removing dirty towels. It was nice that fresh cookies were delivered too, but all in plastic trays! It felt so wasteful and anti-ecological to throw away good-sized plastic containers daily. They should seek alternative packaging!||And we found the food onsite to be expensive and just average. After the first breakfast and dinner, we went elsewhere for meals, and that was a plus for being on the mainland.||We would definitely return. If you like the resort life but also want easy access to more (hikes, restaurants, shopping, town, etc.) this is a great place to stay. DO an over the water bungalow. They are wonderful.

||Seamless transfer from the airport to the resort by boat across the lagoon. Personally greeted on arrival at resort jetty, escorted to reception for registration. Ambassador Diamond Elite status recognised and thanked for our loyalty. Shown around the resort, we were informed that there was a supermarket and a couple of restaurants within a couple of minutes walk from the resort. Then we were escorted to our overwater villa. Some nice gifts awaited us in the Villa, 2 cool water bottles to use and keep during our stay, a resort tee shirt, and a sarong along with welcoming letter. Later in the evening, a complementary half bottle of champagne was delivered to our villa so we could celebrate our wedding anniversary.|The passion shown from Madame Laurence Levy for her guests flows down to all the staff members. None could be faulted. |We were personally found by Laurence and welcomed, and she enquired each day if everything was okay.|Lovely Villa, clean, fully furnished, and being able to descend into the lagoon from the outside terrace.|Snorkelling around the villas was fantastic with a vast variety of tropical fish to see. Our highlight was that no matter how often a Ray swam by, especially the leopard Ray, we would rush to see them. The hotel is very aware of the environment and has a programme of regeneration of coral.|There is a 'Happy Hour' with a good choice of cocktails to choose from each evening in a pleasant setting overlooking looking the overwater villa and the lagoon. There are two restaurants to choose from with indoors and outside seating. Breakfast was a typical affair, both hot and cold, with eggs cooked to order. The hotel also offers free non motorised water sports and a tour desk on site.|If asked to name a staff member who stood out, I couldn't as they all went above and beyond and are true ambassadors for the Intercontinental group.|In all, a very enjoyable relaxing  stay at a first-class resort set in a beautiful picturesque setting on the island and would definitely recommend it.

We stayed in an overwater bungalow for the experience. The hotel is very beautiful, but definitely dated. It’s small compared to the St. Regis, and was very serene and quiet. We did have a few hiccups, but the staff was absolutely wonderful. They are very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. There are paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkel gear included in your stay. The room was spacious enough for 2-3 people comfortably. I think 4 would be a little too cozy, but there is plenty of deck space, and a large enough bathroom. During our stay, we saw 2 snorkelers swim under our bungalow, probably because our room had the best reef underneath it (42). The hotel is conveniently located, very close to a little grocery store, the amazing Lucky House restaurant, and Marama Tattoo. It’s about a 15 minute drive to the main town. The breakfast buffet had options and was very good. I read a review that said this was more a 3-star hotel, and I was hoping I would disagree. In terms of the grounds, facilities, and amenities, 3 stars is accurate. A facelift is necessary and they were doing renovations while we were there, although we could not hear the work. In terms of staff, location, character, and overall value: 4.5-5 stars. We would definitely consider staying here again.

This place is amazing. We had the breakfast and dinner included. The fruit on the breakfast bar was so fresh. The snorkeling in the bay was one of the best I've done from shore. We did the snorkeling with sharks and rays which included the coral garden snorkeling. The water was so clear and fish were so colorful.

We traveled to French Polynesian in Nov with 2 other couples. We booked a 3 island package through Costco Travel and stayed in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. We elected to stay on the mainland in Bora Bora vs a motu so selected the Le Moana Resort on Bora Bora due to its location. We were very pleased with our stay. All 3 couples stayed in overwater bungalows which were wonderful. Our bungalows were large, well appointed and very comfortable. Le Moana is a smaller, older resort but it is very well maintained with beautiful manicured grounds. We enjoyed the daily breakfast which was included with our room, and also enjoyed the grill area for lunch and happy hour snacks. We elected to eat dinners outside the resort at local restaurants. Restaurants will pick you up and return you to the resort afterwards. Couple restaurants within walking distance of resort. There’s also a small grocery store within walking distance where you can pick up snacks and beverages to keep in your room. Beautiful Matira Beach is literally just steps away from the resort directly next door. Beautiful sunsets! We all thoroughly our stay at the Le Moana and would highly recommend this resort to friends and family, Costco Travel did excellent job booking all our transfers and airfares.
