InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort, French Polynesia - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Sixty-two thatched-roof bungalows (the overwater ones could be kitschy but are not) make up this resort on the southernmost point of Bora Bora. Access is by boat from the airport; even breakfast can arrive via outrigger canoes. Widely touted glass coffee-tables are in every overwater bungalow, allowing you to peer like Alice in Wonderland through an aquatic looking glass to the lagoon and coral gardens below. It's heart-warming to see how Polynesian traditions (rooms have hand-sewn Tifaifai bedspreads with botanical motifs, the staff wears pareus ) give you a firm sense of place. The Noa Noa Terrace Restaurant relies on local ingredients from raw fish marinated in coconut and spices to grilled marlin. Deep-sea water therapies at the spa at the resort's sister property, the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, are heavenly. The edge-of-the-world never felt so good."

This is the best resort in Bora Bora!! I'm staying in an overwater bungalow and the water/wildlife here is superior to the other resorts! The water is bright, crystal blue and there's a wonderful variety of fishes! I checked out the other resorts and the water is either much deeper, murkier, or lack coral/fish to observe. Another amazing feature of this resort is the stellar service! All the staff is extremely kind and the manager greets you personally everyday. They also bring fresh towels and a couple yummy sweet treats for you every afternoon. They also have plenty of complimentary and paid activities. On top of that, my husband and I are staying here for 8 night so they even offered to make dishes for us upon request if we ever wanted to switch things up. Talk about amazing accommodation! It's also smaller than the other resorts which is nice because you don't need a bunch of golf carts to get around and it allows you to take your time walking around instead of hopping off the paved road every few seconds to avoid other carts. It's also right next to Matira Beach which is one of the best beaches on the island. Will definitely be staying here again!! P.S. The Deep Ocean Spa @ the IC Thalasso is worth the $!! Definitely get a treatment or two! Also, don't miss out on the incredible snorkeling!

stayed for 4 days in conclusion to the most incredible holiday of my life and the epilogue could have not been better. the overwater villas are big enough, with incredible tables opening to show you the sea life underneath, the windows are breathtaking, bathrooms huge. the patios are so lovely and we have enjoyed every single hour. Food was special, good wines selection, cocktails were excellent and the aperitif time with the promotions was a gem. the beach is amazing and out of the reception there is another one , public, that is even better. The only remark we could have is: some of the staff /waitresses are daydreaming and do not know what they’re supposed to do but there’s no pressure and they’ll learn. Excursions were perfect. thank you for the experience, i am in tears of joy everytime i think about the time there

Very, very nice hotel. Like everything in Bora Bora, you'll pay top dollar. Diving and snorkeling was amazing, diving fees were reasonable. We stayed in a 'hut' over the water, which was amazing! Foid was good although fairly limited menu. The staff coordinated our transportation well so we did not have to worry about anything. Our only disappointment was having the serving staff, while cleaning off the tables, take the tip we were leaving off the table while we were still sitting there finishing our drinks - every single time. I have never had that happened in my life.

The Intercontinental Le Moana Resort is located on the main island of Bora Bora which offers some advantages compared to others located across the lagoon on the more remoter motus. The main advantage is easier access to a broader range of off-site restaurants and activities. The location on Matira point is excellent with beaches on both sides of the point and great views of both the sunrise and sunset.|The swimming and snorkelling are exceptional, and I especially liked the work being undertaken by the resort to rebuild the coral and encouraging sea life.|The resort itself is of an older style (think lots of bamboo, woven wall matting and thatched roofs) and is almost of boutique size compared to those across the lagoon. These attributes give the resort a cosier, more intimate feel. but may not suit those looking for a more chic, modern or contemporary vibe.|We stayed in a Lagoon View Overwater Bungalow for 8 nights. The bungalow consisted of a bedroom, a separate lounge area, a large bathroom/wardrobe area and an outside deck with deckchairs and built-in table and seats. It was clean, well equipped and very comfortable.|The restaurant food was OK, but not outstanding. Luckily, there are 2 good restaurants within easy walking distance, the Bora Bora Beach Club and The Lucky House (the latter also does good takeaway pizzas). The more upmarket Saint James restaurant is also available using their shuttle taxi.|The service at the resort is efficient and extremely friendly. The housekeeping in particular were prompt and efficient in their daily servicing of the bungalow.|If you choose to stay on the "mainland" of Bora Bora, the Intercontinental Le Moana Resort is a good value, convenient and comfortable proposition.

Fabulous facility and wonderful service in paradise. My wife and I visited the Intercontinental Bora Bora La Moana in late Sep 2025 for an anniversary trip and the resort did not disappoint. The location (overwater bungalow) was spectacular (lagoon view)…was like living above an aquarium you could swim in anytime. I think what set this visit apart from the many others we have done globally was the commitment to service from the staff. They we outstanding in every service and request response…prompt, open, positive and competent. I could not recommend the la Moana any more for the $. It was a highly memorable vacation and one we hope to repeat in the coming years.

I highly recommend staying at Intercontinental Le Moana. It's such a beautiful resort and the color of the water is out of this world! Crystal clear turquoise water! The room is spacious and pretty, but it's a little bit old. It needs renovation. I recommend staying at their sister property as well—Intercontinental Thalasso. Divide your trip between both resorts to make the most of Bora Bora

The most amazing stay on our honeymoon, can’t say one negative about this resort. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, so lovely in every way. Arriving by boat was such a great experience and no words for the overwater bungalows, just incredible. Food and drinks were lovely, from breakfast, to cocktails then to amazing evening meals, all fab! Definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed 6 nights here for our honeymoon in the bungalow and we loved it. The bed is comfortable, daily housekeeping, and the outdoor balcony is amazing to watch sun rise. The lagoon is so beautiful to swim and snorkeling. I love feeding the fish inside the room. We saw couple sting rays swim by. The staff is super nice. Hotel gave out free kayak, paddle board, snorkeling gears if we want to do stuff around the resort. We paid for the boat service $86 US dollar per person and it’s worth it for the long journey to get to the resort. One things I feel like it should improve is hotel should have more selection of food.
