InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort, French Polynesia - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Sixty-two thatched-roof bungalows (the overwater ones could be kitschy but are not) make up this resort on the southernmost point of Bora Bora. Access is by boat from the airport; even breakfast can arrive via outrigger canoes. Widely touted glass coffee-tables are in every overwater bungalow, allowing you to peer like Alice in Wonderland through an aquatic looking glass to the lagoon and coral gardens below. It's heart-warming to see how Polynesian traditions (rooms have hand-sewn Tifaifai bedspreads with botanical motifs, the staff wears pareus ) give you a firm sense of place. The Noa Noa Terrace Restaurant relies on local ingredients from raw fish marinated in coconut and spices to grilled marlin. Deep-sea water therapies at the spa at the resort's sister property, the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, are heavenly. The edge-of-the-world never felt so good."

We stayed 6 nights here for our honeymoon in the bungalow and we loved it. The bed is comfortable, daily housekeeping, and the outdoor balcony is amazing to watch sun rise. The lagoon is so beautiful to swim and snorkeling. I love feeding the fish inside the room. We saw couple sting rays swim by. The staff is super nice. Hotel gave out free kayak, paddle board, snorkeling gears if we want to do stuff around the resort. We paid for the boat service $86 US dollar per person and it’s worth it for the long journey to get to the resort. One things I feel like it should improve is hotel should have more selection of food.

This is a breathtaking hotel. This trip was our favorite trip we have ever taken.|The staff are very friendly and hospitable . The food is excellent sorry if I forget anybody’s name, but we actually wrote down some names of the staff who were very lovely to us. |Tepoi |Noemie |Camille |Laura |Vahine |Laurence the general manager |Vaehaaai| Georgina the chef at breakfast|Mitara |We are definitely coming back to stay here as soon as possible. We actually went to another hotel for a day and, we realized that our hotel is the best hotel. The location of the hotel is the best place in our opinion for snorkeling.|And we have to mention the best thing we ate at this hotel was the Pavlova dessert. We must’ve had every single day.|Both my husband and I felt very special at this hotel and we recommended to anyone who’s looking to have an amazing time|MAHURUURU

Beautiful resort in the southern end of the main island. Super friendly staff. We could also see eagle rays and a sting ray from our bungalow which was great. Would go there again if I had the time and budget for it.

This was a dream vacation in the overwater bungalows at Le Moana. The lagoon color was perfect, the water was a great temperature and the height of the water was very welcoming for guests to use it. The bungalows had everything we asked for in having easy access to the water, a great view, with fish easily viewable through our glass coffee table, comfortable, and quiet for great rest. The beach sand is incredibly soft. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As Intercontinental Ambassador members, we were provided early check-in and late check-out as well as included breakfast buffet. Happy hour drinks and food were great. It was very easy to access free kayaks and beach towels. Snorkeling here was a wonderful experience. Concierge made great arrangements for us both via email and in person for the canoe breakfast, spa massage at Intercontinental Thalasso, and pearl shopping with free pickup. We even missed the constant breeze at this location to keep us cool compared to when we went elsewhere in Bora Bora that were more protected from wind. Overall, highly recommend this property as we had a wonderful experience.

I stayed here with my fiancée for a few days. We picked the end-of-pontoon overwater bungalow, and it was magnificent! The water was the most beautiful shade of blue. The amenities in the room were impeccable. The glass table allowing us to observe the tropical fish underneath was a great feature. The food was worthy of a five-star Michelin restaurant. The location was superb. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing that I could improve was the service at the restaurant. However, compared to all the great things about this hotel, the lacking restaurant service does not allow me to rank this resort any less than five stars. Loved it, greatly recommend it and definitely want to be back!

We loved the ambience, the beauty, the customer service, the food and all of the activities arranged by the concierge services. Our room was also incredible, the highlights being the soft and comfortable bed and pillows and the extraordinary glass covered coffee table with a view directly into the fish swimming in the ocean beneath. We also enjoy the tropical swimming pool with a waterfall which we swim in almost every day.

Beautiful setting, very peaceful. Great pool and low key bungalows made of natural materials. Lovely gardens and kind staff for the most part. Concierge staff Kaeda and Mayana are stand out for their competence and excellence/warmth. ||Downsides include|1. No gym |2. Poorly maintained activities room that is regularly taken over by staff or performers. The property in general is a bit tired (ie pool tiles dumped on the ground)|3. Staff are largely sweet and well meaning but restaurant service is very slow/struggles (ie almost impossible to get bread basket unless you ask for it) Feels like not enough effort is being invested in training up the staff to a basic level in some cases, possibly|4. No kids activities - would be so easy to put on a few social events such as a film night in the activities room when it’s raining!|5. GM was sighted occasionally but did not make her presence felt or obvious - lack of meaningful management apart from one French man trying very hard to run the show and elevate the professionality - he was fantastic|6. Internet patchy - not available besides parts of the pool or in some areas of the hotel |7. The hotel offers a sharks and ray tour but half of the day is actually spent on a family’s island watching a slightly odd coconut show and tie dye making session||All in all a wonderful week of peace but because the prices are so steep you do notice these problems.
