InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort

The hotel is conveniently located next to Lijiang Ancient Town and features a beautiful rustic architecture. What I loved most was the breathtaking view from the grand lobby during the morning golden hour, when the warm light casts a golden hue over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a wide variety of options that included both local delicacies and international selections. The staff were exceptionally attentive and helpful, thoughtfully offering to deliver parcels directly to our doorstep. My family had an enjoyable and quiet stay and was very pleased with the comfort of our room. One area for improvement would be upgrading to heated toilet seats, which would be especially appreciated during the winter months.

Right next to old town. Exit the hotel’s North gate and you’re in old town. And there is a local market and night street just about 5 minutes walk away. Joy at the front desk added me to her WeChat on checking in and been looking after us for the whole 4 days. Any request and she is just one WeChat msg away. Now, that’s what I call great service especially for guests like us who don’t speak Mandarin. The fellows helping out with shuttle to our room and moving our luggages are great. Not a word about our heavy luggages being carried up the stairs to our second floor room and always with a smile. 💪💪Dining room service is smooth and efficient. Lady manager there helped us with booking our dinner and menu. Just great services all around. This plus the unique atmosphere and serene surrounding of the hotel make for a great 4 day trip to Lijiang. Big thanks to all. 👍👍

The hotel is situated within walking distance of Lijiang city and the view from the lobby window is a spectacular one of the nearby rugged mountains. The architecture is reminiscent of the old town style and includes lots of natural wood furnishings. ||Rooms are situated a very short walk from the main building, however there are buggies which can take you there. The rooms are very spacious and include high-end amenities. The toilet flush is rather weak, so practice caution! ||Breakfast is a vast spread of delicacies and food is replenished frequently. ||Definitely a place where you can rest and relax in comfort!

The hotel has well-trained and excellent service staff especially Ms Emma Bai who attended to us and was attentive to all our needs during our stay. Apart from the great service, the hotel’s breakfast was top notch and its good location afforded easy access to the famous Lijiang ancient city via its back gate.Just two observations for the hotel’s consideration. One is related to the TV programmes. There are limited foreign channels and I could not watch all of them as the images on the channels would freeze and the volume became inaudible. This problem also affected a number of local Chinese channels as well.Second, the toilet extractor in the room did not seem to be working. I did not raise these issues during my stay as we spent the majority of our time outside the hotel.For future reference, it would be good if the rooms are checked before they are assigned. Other than these two issues, the overall stay at the hotel was near perfect. I would like to add that this hotel has a magnificent view of the jade snow dragon mountain especially from the coffee lounge in the lobby area (see picture).

From the moment we booked the hotel, the staff Julie soon contacted us regarding our arrival time and transfer requirements with excellent communication. We were blown away by the sheer beauty of the architecture, which was an amazing juxtaposition of the ancient era aka the wuxia shows and the modern times. Amenities are of high quality eg Dyson hairdryer and Byredo among others. The dining options are superb, perfect if you return after a long day from climbing the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and watching the Lijiang Impressions. We don’t know what to say about the breakfast spread except that we didn’t not have enough space to eat all that was on offer… too much food but too little stomach! You must take time to explore the grounds of the hotel which itself is an incredible place of interest!

Great hotel. We would like to express our thanks to concierge Leo who was extremely helpful and caring during our stay. He made our experience very enjoyable. Also, Cici and Jocelyn was very attentive and kind to ensure we had a very happy birthday celebration at the hotel. Highly recommended. Great staff and customer service. The photoshoot session was wonderful. Photographer and makeup artist is the best ever. Patient, kind and professional.

1035921495||||Intercontinental Lijiang is an absolutely beautiful hotel situated on the edge of the ancient town. I would highly recommend this hotel!||||Property: The property covers a large area. The buildings are small villas with two floors and four rooms in each building. Buggies are available to shuttle guests around the property. There are no elevators in the buildings.||||Gate: There's a gate at the back of the property with direct access into the ancient town. You will need to show your room key to the security guard to pass through the gate.||||Rooms: We stayed in a premium room and it was absolutely amazing. There was a bedroom, sitting area, working area, large bathroom, walk in closet, and a small area with a bathtub. The room had beautiful wooden walls and ceilings. Housekeeping was excellent.||||Breakfast: Food was delicious and the spread was extensive. The only complaint was the tour buses. If you don't get up early to beat them, breakfast is a feeding frenzy. Best advice, go to breakfast after 8:30am once they have departed.||||Lobby Lounge: The lounge had floor to ceiling windows with awesome views. The lounge was clean and comfortable and served great food and drinks.||||Service: Service was great, once you got beyond the language barrier. The only con is that most employees we encountered didn't speak English.||||Location: Can't be beat as you are right on the edge of the ancient town.

The resort has attributes of Intercontinental hotels, amazing breakfast , gardens, services. It has something unique, the room design, at same time having modern comfort and respecting ancestral design. Ideally located to visit Lijiang by walk.
