InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort

Stayed one night at this beautiful and peaceful resort before wrapping up my two-week trip in Yunnan. The King Premium room on the second floor was near the waterwheel, and so not far from the main block. Anyway, the resort has plenty of carts to take guests to their rooms and therefore it doesn’t really matter much in which part of the resort your room is situated. The room itself was spacious with a writing desk, sofas, chair, etc. Everything was clean and tidy and well maintained. We could see the resort’s waterwheel from one side of the room while we could enjoy garden view from the other side. From our room, it only took a few minutes of leisure walk to the resort’s rear exit which was adjacent to Lijiang ancient town. We went to the resort’s bar for the welcome drink where the atmosphere was so relaxing. The resort offered special price for guests to take photos in ethnic costumes around their picturesque background, which many lady guests took advantage of. The buffet breakfast had a wide variety of Chinese and western choices as expected. Generally a very satisfying experience with only one suggestion. The resort might wish to consider upgrading the in-room toilet seat to one which is heated, and it would be so nice.

The hotel did not meet our expectations. It was a beautiful hotel with excellent location, but the hospitality was lacking. - it was a beautiful hotel with nice rooms and buildings. - The house keeping staff was nice and attentive - One of our rooms smelled of smoke and despite notifying the front desk twice, no attempts to fix the issues. - We had booked 2 suites with lounge access, the lounge was lacking in clean glasses, cutlery and service. - The lounge was always lacking of drink options. - The lounge lacked clean tables - There is a smoking room in the lounge making it smell strongly of smoke sometimes - When checked out we checked numerous times with the front desk to make sure they had all charges, however we got contacted the day after with an extra charge of 1300 Yuan.

Beautiful resort located within the Lijiang Ancient Town. We really enjoyed how the hotel is integrated into the ancient town. Very good service from all of the staffs. Special thanks to Eric for helping us get tickets to go visit the Jade Dragon Mountain! Very good breakfast. Good value for the money and a very memorable stay.

Our experience in this hotel :Strengths: Rooms are spacious clean and comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast had a wide variety, comes with full range of western and local food. Also taste good and elegantly prepared. Environment in the entire hotel is luxurious, warm and friendly. Buggy service is on time and operates 24 hours. An area of improvement could be the air conditioning or ventilation system needs to be upgraded as it does not function properly for room 2703. So to mitigate the stuffiness and have better ventilation, we open the door and allow fresh air to flow into the room at night. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Pros: - Excellent location at the edge of the ancient town. Short walk to the centre of the town. - Got upgraded to a nice and big room - Excellent food at breakfast and happy hour - The design of the hotel amenity is very thoughtful. For example, the bathroom has rough/anti-slip floor to prevent slipping while taking shower - Hotel interior is beautiful, well maintained with excellent landscape - Nice gym and pool - Excellent service from staffs Minor areas of improvements: - The glass desk is too cold to lean our arms on when working on pc. Would be nice to add a leather pad so it's more comfortable to lean on and also can work with mouse. - Only 1 power point near the work desk. Would be better to have at least 2 so that I can power my laptop and phone together

We had a truly memorable stay at InterContinental Lijiang. The resort is absolutely stunning, with a serene atmosphere and beautiful surroundings that made for the perfect retreat. A special thank you to Joy, who went above and beyond to ensure our elderly parent and baby were well taken care of. Her attentiveness, warmth, and genuine care made a world of difference to our stay—we truly appreciated her efforts. The service throughout was exceptional, and every part of our experience felt thoughtful and seamless. We’re already looking forward to returning. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lijiang!

Having stayed four nights recently, I was able to appreciate the resort setting and wonderful service at the InterContinental Lijiang: such beautiful design inside and out, calm and relaxed atmosphere, great sleep quality, delicious breakfast with a separate members area, 5-star quality facilities throughout the property, and it’s located very close to ancient town of Lijiang (it’s basically part of it). Be sure to use the North entrance/exit when exploring the town. Where the hotel really shines though is its staff, who effortlessly create an environment of harmony an warmth. Every single team member showed genuine care, and always with a smile. The service standards here even exceeded the expectations of a well-seasoned traveler like me. I wish to praise the front desk staff who were always readily available to assist, and the Club Lounge team, especially Amy who did a tremendous job every day ensuring that the lounge and F&B presentation was kept meticulously neat and tidy, but also extending a very warm welcome to all guests and interacting with them with great attention and hospitality. Fantastic approach to customer service. It shall be noted that most team members actually speak English quite well, which helps of course to communicate. It is indeed quite uncommon in China even in the best hotels. In summary, I was so glad to call this hotel my home for four days. I was impressed especially by the wonderful staff who ensured that I would enjoy every moment of my stay. Rarely do I rate a hotel with a perfect score, but in this case, it’s well deserved. It is one of the finest examples of the InterContinental brand that I’ve come across in the world. I will certainly be back.

The service was great, they had a buggy service to take us from the main lobby to our rooms as it was quite a walk. The staff at the concierge- Nicholas was very helpful in assisting us with the purchase of the tickets for 云杉坪. However, the hotel itself was lacking several amenities compared to the other smaller boutique hotels we stayed, which was disappointing considering it is a more reputable chain hotel brand. The room was quite dusty and the humidifier was old and not effective at all.
