From the moment I arrived, the experience was exceptional. The hotel itself is stunning, blending historic charm with modern luxury. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and offered a breathtaking view of Porto’s city center. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide variety of fresh, high‑quality options. The location couldn’t be better – right in the heart of Porto, within walking distance of major attractions. Everything about my stay exceeded expectations, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

What a beautiful hotel with the most perfect location. From the staff in the front to the concierges! I would love to shout out Tiago from the front desk for going above and beyond with answering questions, offering recommendations to the concierge who also went above and beyond when they made a call to our car rental company to extend an extra day. Let's not forget the breakfast! Best breakfast/brunch we've had in years! The restaurant's hostess is so sweet and made our son smile every morning. The hotel's beds and views were amazing as well. Overall, we had the best experience and wish we had reserved for 3 nights instead of two as we didn't want to leave.

Staying at the InterContinental Porto was a memorable experience. The location is fantastic, right on Praça da Liberdade, which means the energy of the city is visible from your room. Watching the square from my window was a highlight, seeing people go about their day while the architecture and fountains added to the charm. It makes you feel connected to the city in a way that few hotels can offer. The room itself was spacious, well-designed, and very comfortable. The furnishings were elegant without feeling over the top, and the bed made it easy to relax after a day of exploring Porto. The attention to detail in the room made it feel luxurious while still inviting. The staff were outstanding. They were professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful, offering recommendations and assistance whenever needed. Their presence made the stay feel personal and welcoming. The hotel overall is opulent, from the lobby to the restaurants and lounges, yet it never feels cold or unapproachable. It balances luxury with warmth in a way that is rare. If you are visiting Porto and want excellent service, a prime location, and a sense of style and comfort, the InterContinental Porto is an excellent choice. It makes your time in the city feel special.

Very centrally located, with polite staff, a beautiful lobby, and comfortable rooms! I was upgraded for free to a Junior Suite, which gave me plenty of space to spread out and a nice view out into the square. Unfortunately, the area is undergoing some very intensive construction at the moment, but the hotel provided me with earplugs and a sleeping mask. Concierge is very nice but restaurant recommendations are too generic and not particularly outstanding, I feel like I wasted my time at a couple dinners. Make sure to do your own food research and book in advance.

My family and the people I employ have stayed here a number times. The experience and location has been positive. Today, since I was passing by and am on business in Porto, I stopped by to use the facilities before progressing to the bar where I usually order a bottle of wine.||||Unfortunately, I was chased into the bathroom by an overzealous doorman who lacked both tact and sense. Are you a guest he demanded, when I was actually inside the bathroom and about to use the urinal. I replied that I would be, not having a chance to elaborate that I was about to head to the bar, which would mean that yes I was now a guest. He insisted without any further information or clarification that the bathroom was only for guests, suggesting that I was not welcome and should leave. So I did. ||||Here is the problem. Is a guest only someone sleeping at the hotel? If so, is it the policy of this hotel to facilitate dinner and bar experiences but then chase paying diners (not “guests”) into the bathroom if they dare to relieve their bladders after or before their reservations? Is it hotel policy to ask those patrons to leave the premises altogether if they dare to wash their hands in the bathroom having had the temerity to dine at the restaurant? ||||What a pathetic, petty and puny establishment. ||||Sadly for this establishment, which I had positive feelings about before today, they have lost business for February. Had the overzealous and petty doorman listened and shown some respect for both me and the situation, I would have explained to him that 1) my company provides services in Porto and we intended to book a series of rooms for February, and 2) even more crucially, I was heading to the bar.||||Since his listening skills were overtaken by his position, I simply told him that fine, I would leave straight away and on top of that, I would not stay in the hotel again. ||||So here is my message to the board not even the hotel management: Your badly trained doorman has lost you my company’s business at your restaurant, bar and rooms. Why? Because he had no sense and only presumptions about my motivations. ||||Unfortunately for this hotel, you have lost tens of thousands of pounds of business because you picked on the wrong man. Not only will I vote with my feet, but I will make sure that every one of my directors and colleagues dismantles any and all corporate relationships with IHG. ||||So well done to you Mr. Doorman. You won. You really saved the bathroom.

Mixed thoughts about this hotel. We stayed here because of its central location, and the fact that we were in Porto for only 2 days. So from that perspective, it was perfect - because it is smack in the middle of Porto, in the middle of all the attractions and tourist activities. So high marks for location for sure! As for the property - well, it’s crowded, feels dated, and definitely by no means a 5-star property - not even close. Fitness center is way too small with outdated equipment. Breakfast at the restaurant was below average, limited selection. The rooms were spacious but felt dated - vents were loud at night, bed was uncomfortable because of old mattresses. Staff was super courteous and polite. Might stay here again if we visit Porto again, but only for its location.

We recently spent 4 nights at the Intercontinental Porto on holiday. This was our first time in Porto, Portugal and we had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff was extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and enjoyable to interact with. Our stay included breakfast and their buffet/a la carte options were delicious - an incredibly spread of food with lots of variety for an international clientele, including a la carte options. All perfect to start each day before exploring the city. We loved our corner room - large, lots of light, and great views out to the plaza, train station and church. Location was great - incredibly central and walking distance to the rebeira, city sights, but within minutes to where many tours (e.g. day tours, walking tours) start - so that worked out really well. I do want to specifically call out the concierge team - Tiago and Joao. I had left something at the hotel after checking out and this team was incredibly attentive and went over and beyond to get this back to me! It's one of the larger hotels in the city so having this very personalized service from Tiago and Joao shows the commitment to their guests. Thank you!

Exceptional property with even better staff. Great location next to to the train station. Easy walk to everything in the city. As others noted there is a major construction project in front of the property which my room was directly above but it wasn't an issue. Construction was done during normal work hours and wrapped up at appropriate times. Give a call ahead to ask about parking options, they have a few designated spots for guests arriving that can be easy to miss.

I was exceptionally worried about our stay here after reading about all of the construction in front of the hotel from the metro line being constructed (plan to end in 2025!). However thankfully I did not book a room with a view of the city hall and Av Aliandos. The rooms with the view would have to face the noisy construction. Our room was facing a quiet courtyard with apartment buildings surrounding it. And it was quiet as a pin drop! Even during New Year's Eve! They even had heavy blackout curtains. The service was certainly top! They always put more tea for me, extra water bottles in the room, and snacks throughout each day of our stay (from cakes, pasteis de nata, fresh fruits, and chocolates). They were certainly always thoughtful with their touches. On top of it all, the breakfast was excellent! Fresh made to order egg dishes, plus a plethora of hot dishes (beans, cooked tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes and even miso soup!). They certainly knew how to cater to different tastes. Also the location could not get more central! Right in the middle of all the sites and walking distance from any where you wish to visit in Porto. Overall we loved every second of our stay and hope to come back!

Perfect place to stay while you are in Porto! I loved the location. It was so close to everything! We never took an Uber since it was located in a great spot. Also, the staff here is so friendly and kind. They are so accommodating for our needs. The hotel is very cute and clean! We got free breakfast included in our stay and the food was so good! Also, our servers were so nice. They made sure they took care of us. If you are looking for a place to stay while you are in Porto, I would highly recommend this hotel!

The Intercontinental Porto is a reliable choice. Although the location is somewhat outdated, the service is generally good. On this rainy and windy evening, I opted to stay in and enjoy a couple of drinks at the hotel bar.

Great place to stay in Porto. Location is excellent and close to everything. The room was clean and bed was pretty comfy. Loved all the amenities and the small touches. Staff were great. Breakfast buffet was good though the food was the same everyday. Overall it was a good experience.

Jackhammering, scraping, digging, yelling, and vibrations from the 24/7 construction SURROUNDING this hotel. Make other plans. Not worth your money. Disgusted that we had absolutely no warning.

This was a special and once in a lifetime trip for our 10 year wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday. It was ruined by having to stay in this hotel. I was embarrassed in front of my wife for booking this hotel. This hotel is almost uninhabitable. This was the worst hotel stay I have had in hundreds of hotel stays in my life. The hotel website does not mention the incredibly loud and intrusive construction going on, right in front of the hotel. On top of the myriad issues the construction caused, there were other issues. There was little to no air conditioning. The room was very warm, and we could not get the AC to turn on most of the time. When it did, it did not cool the room down at all. A maintenance person explained something about how the outside temperature was overwhelming the ability of the AC to cool the rooms. All I know is the room was hard to sleep in due to the temperature, and we did not get one night of good sleep during a 5 night stay. The car traffic due to the construction right in front of the hotel makes taxi/Uber pickup and drop off dangerous and difficult. The foot traffic due to the construction right in front of the hotel is overwhelming, and unsafe. There were hordes of people near the front entry of the building due to the construction. Due to the construction in the front of the building we were told sometimes to exit in the back of the building to reach certain parts of the city. We'd walk through a maze of homeless and drug users in the back alley of the hotel. Very dangerous. The room was not very clean. Our safe broke with my passport locked inside! But it was fixed quickly. The bathroom sink backed up due to a clog. The shower stall had broken handles inside it. I could go on. When I complained after our stay, they did not reply. When I followed up, 8 days later, they said a manager would contact me, and they added 20,000 points to my IHG account. According to NerdWallet's analysis, 20,000 IHG points are worth about $140. That is an offensive offer after they destroyed 6 days/5 nights of vacation. Those are important memories lost and ruined. This hotel should be closed until the construction is completed. A manager did call me eventually, and left me a voicemail. At that point I was already back in the U.S. and a phone call would be diffcult, and I was too busy catching up on work to waste time on a phone call. I asked them to email me if they had any reply or solution, but I never heard back. I am going to write off my 5 nights in Porto. Bottom line is DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE! I hear that may not be until 2025! If you want to enjoy Porto, and a have safe and quiet stay, pick another hotel.

This intercontinental hotel is very mean and hostile. My wife and I was walking in the street of Porto. Suddenly we feel the need for a rest room. We came inside this hotel. There was a lady who sits in front of the entrance and watch people like hawks. She wouldn't let us use their rest room because we are not hotel guests. We are very unhappy. Intercontinental hotel is a 5 star hotel. They should show some courtesy for potential customers like us. We are IHG plantium members and we stay at at least 20 to 30 intercontinental hotels before. We never saw this at the other intercontinental hotels that is so mean to potential customers. Next time when we visit Porto, we will never consider to stay at this international hotel in Porto.

Perfect location sounded by amazing architecture. Love the spiral staircase. The room was huge by European Standards and the view was spectacular. Had a toilet & bidet, bathtub abs walk in shower. Loved the custard tarts awaiting our arrival. The breakfast buffet has a great selection & champagne. The bar was closed. There is outdoor seating off the restaurant.

Spent three days in Porto and this was the perfect spot from which to explore. Took the train from Lisbon and one of the reasons I chose this hotel was its location--literally right next to the Sao Bento station, it made the arrival process super easy. Staff were accommodating and allowed me to see another room and switch as I was concerned that the second floor facing the Main Street would be noisy. Super quiet, luxurious bed and huge bathrooms. Walking distance to everything really; and if you don't feel like walking, Uber comes in handy. Nice tavern Tapabento is right next to the station and highly recommended (read my review on it). Also close to Livraria Lello. Tip to go online and secure ticket (5euro which can be applied to any book purchase) which then allows you to skip the massive line and saunter into bookstore.

Our Tauck tour arrived in Porto Portugal in the late afternoon. They had chosen this Hotel in particular because of its central location for walking tours in the old city. I would have preferred a hotel off the Douro River near the Port wine makers, but I understand the logic. This Hotel is a converted 18th-century palace that oversees Avenida dos Aliados, also next to the Estação de São Bento train station, and a short walk to Sé do Porto cathedral. The lobby is extravagant with high ceilings and chandeliers. The rooms are also elegant with marble bathrooms and spacious comfortable room. The Hotel provides breakfast as part of your stay. They also offer massages and beauty treatments in their spa. We really did not have the time to take advantage of the Hotel amenities unfortunately. .

This place was recommended by our concierge at AMEX but when we arrived we found out there is a major construction project going on all along the front of the building. It is consuming several acres of land on is operating 24 hours a day. It appears to be tunneling under the hotel. Last night at 11 PM we got to listen to jack hammers from our room. They offered to upgrade us when we arrived but they suites were in the front of the hotel closest to the project. Our room is in the back of the hotel but the noise is under and in front of the building. Our room was shaking last night from construction. It's a beautiful hotel but AMEX should NOT be recommending it to their best customers.

This hotel is so conveniently located right in the center of the main square of the city. You are walking distance from so many sights and eateries (but walking those hills will definitely get you). The service was wonderful! The staff at this establishment provided amazing service. The moment you walk into the hotel, you're well taken care of. The rooms are a good size, the beds and pillows were plush, and the bathroom was just great. Oh yeah, they also have air conditioning year round (yeah!). Highly recommend this hotel!

We LOVED our stay here. My husband and I stayed at their junior suite for four nights for our honeymoon. The staff is incredible helpful - I was feeling sick with a fever and cough several nights and they brought us teas, lemons, and honey. The hotel location is excellent, close to all the nice restaurants and pastries.

Checked in late night and the front desk was warm and welcoming. Check in was a breeze, the bellman helped us with our luggage and was very helpful in getting us comfortable in the room. Great location, clean and a comfortable bed to get a great nights sleep. Highly recommend staying here. Thank you for the great hospitality.

This place has the worst service I have ever encountered ever in Portugal! The staff has a very poor attitude. The bar closes really early so there is no where to relax in the evening. The breakfast was not edible. The recondition from the so called " Concierge" were horrible. We were directed to place that clearly were paying them to direct customers there not good places at all! Dangerous night areas brand new restaurants bot 5 star at all!! Don't stay here!!! We felt like our trip to Porto was ruined by this inadequate staff!! STAY AWAY!!

Service and ambiance you would expect at a world class hotel. We stopped in to the bar for a few drinks. The bartender was very enthusiastic - we went off menu and he got into it. Taught him the recipe for a classic Singapore sling - he served a nice rendition. drink prices are high for Porto, but average US city pricing. The hotel itself is well situated near the city center. Worth a visit.

Nice hotel- it's an Intercontinental, after all- in the middle of Porto. Staff is very nice and it's right next to Sao Bento station. If you have the cash, might as well stay here! Walking distance to all the big sights in town, and it's literally in a former palace so they don't spare any expense.

A 5 star, 5 star ! Incredible customer service. The concierge are awesome, nothing is too much trouble for Rui and Rodregiez. Tours booked, restaurant reservations made and cancelled and remade ! No problem. With other customers, they'll call you back and they do. Need your wine and water from dinner brought to your room, no problem. Early check in / late checkout, of course. Complementary wine with dinner, check. Basically, you want it you got it. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Great view over the square. The only downside was a traffic jam on the street between 5pm-6pm with lots of honking of car horns. Hotel is well positioned to explore Porto on foot. We had a great stay and would come back again.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Porto - Palacio das Cardosas in Porto, Portugal for two nights on 5/20/2018 and 5/21/2018. It was my 1st time there. As I was traveling with Tauck, they chose the hotel. Friendly staff and central location to see the city of Porto. Plus, I took photos.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is located centrally, close to the train station and to all main sights and transportation. We drove and used the hotel parking service for €29/night. Check in was quick and easy. We arrived early, so our room wasn't ready, but we left our things while we went to explore. When we came back, we were pleased to find our room was spacious and comfortable. The bed especially was very plush. There was adequate storage, the wifi was perfect, and everything was clean. We had a great view over the square with gorgeous French doors and a little balcony. The bathroom was big and had lots of counter space. The shower was hot with great pressure. All of the staff were very nice and accommodating, especially the concierge staff who always greeted us by name. However (and this is not their fault), it seems the concierge desk and front desk are understaffed. Several times when we came back with our car, there was no room in the temporary parking area to leave it. The concierge staff move the cars to the lot, but they were so busy with guests they didn't have time. Being on a busy street, this was problematic. Also, there was often a long line at the concierge and at the front desk. We had to wait for the concierge once more than 20 minutes. When we checked out, there were 3 desks but only 1 was staffed. The staff who are there are superb, but they need help! I can't see how they will be able to function in the high season. Still, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I chose Intercontinental Porto to spend part of our honeymoon. We could not be more pleased. The staff are extremely engaging and helpful. The food is delicious, the rooms immaculate and the hotel is centrally located. This has been our first time in Europe and we are more than happy with this choice. A huge thanks to the staff who really go out of their way to create this environment.

This hotel is old school. After staying in a couple of boutique hotels it was great to be at the Intercontinental. The room were large and comfortable. The bathroom was large and luxurious. The bar downstairs was really nice. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. It was a full service hotel and we really liked it. I total recommend this hotel.

Super nice hotel, VERY helpful staff. Only reason I went 4 star instead of 5 (and it is a 5 star hotel) is probably due to my being used to US hotels. There's no top sheet on the beds (which are very comfortable) but just a big comforter. All top quality but in our room, which was a huge 2 floor deal (thanks for the upgrade!) The windows dont open and the ac didn't get the room cold enough for a heavy blanket like that..I need something on top of me or I can't sleep though. I woke up in a full blown sweat later. And a totally silly thing I guess.. the tv had no sleep button which I guess I missed! Haha But seriously overall, very nice hotel, beautiful building, awesome location, attentive staff and beautiful rooms! Would totally come back.
