InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort (Gold Coast, Queensland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The InterContinental brand encompasses an enormous variety of hotels, from urban skyscrapers to seaside classics to this, a high-end contemporary interpretation of a classic Queensland estate. The InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is a part of the greater Sanctuary Cove development, a country club, shopping center, and residential neighborhood on Hope Island, roughly a third of the way from Gold Coast to Brisbane. This is where seemingly all of Australia goes on holiday, and the appeal of a place like the InterContinental is the way it feels, despite its substantial scale, like something of a private enclave." - Tablet Hotels

We love and would recommended our stay here. Coming during the weekday so we feel like we have the resort ourselves. Full of kangaroos. Services brilliant. Facility awesome. Drink at the pool bar is very nice! The verandah cocktail could be better. We had a dinner at verandah the food is actually amazingly nice (burger, squid and pizza) dessert cheese cake is also very nice. The heated pool in winter is still cold (not freezing cold) def not warm. We only used the pool at noon (which is not that cold) the spa is warm and decent size we use the spa with our little one a lot. The lagoon pool is really nice too with sand and play toys provided. The room is a bit rundown but everything is working with good hot shower. Our room is on ground level so we can go straight to the lagoon from our room!

Absolutely perfect from the moment we arrived. Reception phoned on the morning of our arrival to say our rooms were ready. What an amazing service! The staff everywhere made us feel like we were truly valued. The breakfasts were fantastic with a fresh variety every morning. Even though the staff were super busy they still smiled (Thankyou Cedric!) and bought what we needed without a fuss. Our rooms were absolutely spotless and quite spacious facing the lovely marina. Each morning while we were at breakfast the cleaning fairy had redone the rooms immaculately again. The whole place was relaxing, (even the kangaroos stay there happily living quietly) and super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for any staff member we dealt with. I was on an arm crutch and so I used the buggy (thankyou to Sebastian!) on a number of occasions to go to the rooms and to the marina and it went smoothly each time with generally just a short wait. Thankyou also to Andrea and Natalie who took a few of those buggy calls and were so helpful and polite. The bar staff were friendly, and at times under a lot of pressure and they still delivered our cocktails each night with smiles. We had a dinner at The Fireplace and had lovely service and a beautifully cooked steak that simply melted in my mouth. I loved every aspect of Sanctuary Cove Resort and I can't wait to go back! A massive thankyou to all the unnamed (sorry) members of staff who made our stay memorable in so many wonderful ways.

Our room was spacious and very clean on arrival. The grounds are beautiful with wild kangaroos roaming the gardens. Very relaxing place with nice lagoon pool and lounges . Plenty of shade also.|Limited options for night time dining. Only one restaurant, the firepit. |Meals were nice and reasonably priced. |Snacks available at verandah bar and pool bar.|We went off site 3 of 4 nights to eat a proper meal. |Biggest disappointment was $400 ridiculous fee as holding deposit on arrival. Still waiting for payment credit 4 days after departure. |Why this is necessary still defies my logic.

We stayed at Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove for my wife’s birthday for two nights, and the team went above and beyond to make it truly special—especially for her. From the moment we arrived until the time we left, every staff member we met was warm, welcoming, and attentive. A special mention to Nanomi at the front desk for her kindness and professionalism, and a big shout-out to the amazing concierge team for their help throughout our stay. As a Diamond member, I really appreciated the little extras, like the 2 pm late checkout, which gave us more time to explore the property and enjoy the facilities. The room upgrade and thoughtful amenities in the room were such a lovely touch and made the celebration even better. We had an amazing time and left with wonderful memories. We’ll definitely be back and will be telling our friends and family to visit too!

We stayed 4 nights at this grand, leafy, impressive, and spacious resort. The staff were all accommodating and friendly. The hotel has a wonderful old world almost Athenian feel with clay colored tiling and many fountains adorning the main courtyard area. The Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We had a marina view room with balcony that was wonderful to view the sunrise and sunsets. The varied birdsong, water dragons, kangaroos, and many different types of trees and bushes give the place a real charm and country feel. The grounds were very well maintained and tidy, the pools were regularly cleaned. Temperatures of the pools vary from 21deg in the main lagoon pool, 23-29deg in the swimming pool, and 33deg in the spa (a touch cold as usually a spa is set to 36 minimum, but fine for me). At this time of year I had the pools to myself and it was just wonderful! The breakfast and bar food was outstanding. My complaint is however with the selfish sick people who come to breakfast blowing their noses and clearly not being well, infect people like me and my wife who are now recovering from colds obtained from these people touching the serving instruments and putting staff welfare at risk as well. Please think of others if your sick and try to arrange breakfast another way - perhaps the hotel could add signs and offer in room breakfast for the sick - not easy to manage I know, would be better if people could (shock horror) think about other people and not come to food buffet sick! The country club people were extremely friendly and the facilities first class, sad to be losing the bush out front to housing but not their fault. A shuttle on demand takes you there and it take a couple of minutes - so good! We will be back to this impressive resort many times I think (might have to skip the buffet though sadly)!

Stayed 2 nights and arrived midnight. Front staff were great. As a Gold Ambassador of Intercontinental we received an upgrade to a Queenslander Suite, which was fantastic and much appreciated as we had our daughter with us. The separate bedroom was great from a privacy perspective. It was pouring with rain at the time of arrival and the front desk man (wish I remembered his name) followed us to the car park in a buggy and then drove us to the room so we didn’t get soaked. Grounds were lovely, kangaroos roamed freely and the pool and lagoon pool were great. Happy to recommend.

Amazing experience. We’ve been to the GC many times but didn’t know of this hidden gem. I’d rather stay here than a Singapore trip for warm holidays. Much better class, staff, and value.|We pre-booked the room with lounge access and would highly recommend this. Exceptional staff! Especially Roxy at the Club Lounge, who is such a friendly and lovely person making you feel at home while away.| Does not feel like a sterile hotel resort . This place is set in lush natural bushland gardens. Caters for all age groups in the family.

Not having visited Sanctuary Cove for 14 years but having spent many many days visiting in years gone by my wife and I decided a visit was in order. The Intercontinental Hotel welcomed us on arrival in a faultless manner explaining the what and wherefore that was available. The staff were exceptionally obliging, the accommodation just perfect and despite the grounds being overhauled nothing was off putting. Breakfast was faultless and plentiful and again the staff couldn’t do enough for us, well done to all and a special thank you to Veronica for the superb Bloody Mary’s. We enjoyed our 3 day stay and will definitely return in the future.

Yelp
The InterContinental is a delight to the eyes and the taste buds with fantastic staff. From the moment we arrived, driving through the beautiful gardens to an entrance fit for a king, we were greeted by genuinely happy, helpful, friendly faces, and with none of the 'forced' niceties we often seem to receive an upscale resort where you know they're just paid to smile and be attentive. Absolutely every staff member we encountered, from reception to concierge, valet and the restaurant at breakfast were in all honesty, as lovely as you could imagine. The InterContinental has truly world class service. The resort itself is huge, covers an expanse that could be considered its own suburb, and picturesque to say the least, but for those of us who have trouble walking any distance, you're only a phone call away from a friendly, happy staff member and his limo sized golf cart to take you wherever you need to go. And that includes a small local shopping precinct packed with shops and restaurants at the marina. The rooms are clean, well-appointed and reasonably fresh, with everything you need on hand for a nice relaxing stay, or just a phone call to concierge away. Sadly, we were only staying for one night while attending a party in nearby Paradise Point and did not get a chance to try the restaurant for dinner, which we've heard is quite superb. We were however, lucky enough to enjoy an incredible buffet breakfast with all the trimmings, including real barista made coffee (if you're a lover of coffee, this will mean the world to you) and a lovely omelette made to my personal choice by the skilled chef attending. I have to say, this one night getaway has left us with a very favourable memory and now, we just need an excuse to come back. Very highly recommended.

Yelp
I really loved this resort. I went there for a work event last week. It had a lovely peaceful . feel to it. The rooms were nice and large and I was fortunate enough to have one with a nice view of the water. The business facility was fairly nice. The food at the event was good. Service was excellent. The most fun was riding around the resort in the golf carts. The bell staff was absolutely outstanding. The resort is accompanied with a golf course and with what we would call in the US condos. The property also includes a shoppping village which looked quite nice. I would love to visit again on vacation to really get the full enjoyment out of such a lovely resort.

Yelp
I came here to get some time to myself and allow for thought, relaxation and contemplation. It's exactly the right place for that. Although it was at full capacity, the whole place is expansive enough that you can get away on your own if you want to. There's plenty of garden areas, walking, poolside and indoor areas to sit. The weather was wonderful and the early mornings are a dream. Service is generally good, but it suffers when the staff are stretched in busy times. Concierge and reception staff are very good. Restaurants are okay. Rooms are very well appointed. My suite was large, lovely and had a wonderful lagoon view. Bathroom is great, plenty of shelf room, great shower, lots of good towels and loads of hot water (although it takes a while to come through). Comfortable bed and good lounge furniture. Housekeeping staff are lovely. Wireless is excellent quality. The surrounding area is interesting to explore, but you'll need a car. I will definitely come here again, it's just what I needed.

Yelp
After earning points through work trips to IHG resorts in other locations, I decided to take my partner and cash-in my reward night at this resort. I am a gold elite status member with IHG (only one tier higher than base membership). Upon arrival, I was greeted by the fantastic staff as a gold elite member and notified I could check in over two hours early, and I was upgraded for free to the Queenslander Suite. This essentially meant instead of a standard bedroom, we now had a larger bathroom and a seperate living area. At 3PM, we received a knock on the door and were delivered three delicious macaroons. The facilities at this hotel were fantastic. The pools were clean, the human-size chess was a spectacle and the staff never once walked past without saying hello. This stay has made me realise that IHG really value loyalty. I was very impressed by this hotel and recommend it to anyone who wants a night away from Brisbane!
