InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, an IHG Hotel

"How did it strike you on arrival?Burnished wood and velvety forest green interiors, mustachioed mixologists behind a vintage craft cocktail bar – this sexy riverside property is one posh man cave. It’s in an area better known for its luxe condos, but there’s a lively food scene at the doorstep, offering everything from Japanese izakaya grub to gourmet chocolate desserts. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Mostly male business travelers, couples, staycationers. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.It was narrow and a bit of a squeeze, but it made smart use of space and with the floor-to-ceiling windows it appeared more spacious. There was a table and leather chair, but working off them was uncomfortable – the table was tiny. This is a room that focuses on getting just the essentials – sleep and shower – done well. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The Serta mattress was a dream and there was an embarrassment of pillows. If you’re impossible to please, an additional five types are available from a pillow menu. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that worth a mention? They don’t call it a “mini-bar” here – try “refreshment center” instead. The extensive selection included everything from the usual snacks and a Nespresso machine to Italian fruit jellies, a tub of the popular local cheng tng dessert, and healthy treats like chia bars and veggie chips. Would pinch the Bose Bluetooth sound bar. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The shower-only bathroom is part of the bedroom and separated by a sliding door. Not for everyone, but it is spacious and the water pressure is great. Like with many other InterContinental properties the products were refreshing lemon verbena ones from Agraria. We all need some good Wi-Fi. What’s the word that?Fast and free; IHG members who aren’t hotel guests also get free internet by logging in with their membership details. Anything stand out about other services and features?Marcello is the hotel’s Italian vintage craft cocktail bar – great aperitivos and house-made liqueurs. The gym is tiny but the riverfront area next to the hotel is a lovely (and popular) route for a run. Chomp down on meat for men at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zeiner on the second floor. There’s also a private member’s club, 1880, on the third level, designed by British superstar designer Timothy Oulton. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Heartbreaking: Rooms can be smaller than expected. Memorable: Being smack-dab in a lively food precinct, with some of the city's coolest restaurants and bars at your doorstep. Bottom line: worth it?Its small rooms, non-entry-level prices and expat-heavy residential location are probably not for first-timers to Singapore. But if you want to see a different side to the country, this could be for you." - Audrey Phoon

The hotel was nice and comfortable. The staff was outstanding! They were very helpful and greeted us every time we entered or left. Breakfast was good. The pool was not great. There was no shade and it was a simple lap pool. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll like it. No sunning or relaxing there however.

We stayed for 4 nights and booked through Luxury Escapes (with club room access) and the hotel exceeded expectations. A break after 35 yrs of working. We firstly got an upgrade and Emily was amazing at check in as we had to modify the check in date. The suite was spacious, well appointed, modern, clean, comfortable and we had amazing views back to the river. The food in the lounge was very good , with sensational afternoon tea (high-tea) and the nightly canapes and drinks were a highlight. We spent hours reading books and enjoying endless coffees on the terrace. We loved the complimentary bikes. The breakfast at Publico was exceptional. So much to choose from. Vera was incredible. |All staff were extremely attentive, |Must use the bikes, highly recommend club access, the location is so central. |Could not fault anything at the Hotel.

Fantastic hotel! Amazing service and the food is Amazing - especially in the Club Room. Chef Sugan served up THE most delicious and visually exciting hors d ‘ uevres I have ever had! Incredible. On our last morning we came down for a last visit and the team of Cluwie & Pauline were delightful! Definitely worth a visit! ❤️

We spent 1 night hear for our wedding anniversary and we really enjoyed the stay. The hotel is relatively new. The room layout is nice and spacious with all the amenities. You can share your screen to the TV in case you want to watch something else. The gym is great. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with a good variety of food and it's not overly crowded like many of the hotels. The location is wonderful too. It's just next to the Singapore river. Many great restaurants nearby. We found a place opposite the hotel for the best Wagyu Steak from Japan. We are totally satisfied.

Very clean and welcoming hotel! The service is amazing the staff are so friendly and accommodating especially “Hudson” who went out of his way to ensure we had the best service and is so hardworking. I feel the pool could be a lot bigger as you are paying $500 each night also a cash point would be helpful to guests however apart from that I could not fault.

Wish we could give more stars for service. The hotel is really good but the staff were so warm and welcoming. I must give a special thank you to Sugan and the staff in the club lounge who could not do enough to help. They made my birthday extra special and went out of their way helping my wife with her dietary needs. The food was so tasty with some unique touches. Will definitely visit again.

Has always been wanting to try this hotel and finally did it. Outstanding hotel along Robertson quay. Very conveniently located with 7-11 just right beside and food everywhere. Hotel itself already has very good dining place, Publico. Nice outdoor ambience be it breakfast or drinks at night. Room size not very big but still nicely designed and it’s a high ceiling room. Amenities definitely 5 stars quality. Very comfy pillows and linens, bed wise more to firm instead of soft. Entire room very comfy and chillax, with a view of the street: Entire office still looks very new and well maintained. Staff are super friendly be it the receptionist or housekeeping, felt very welcome. Little thoughts from the hotel also gave us a surprise when we are back from dinner. A nice one.

Google
Sometimes large hotels lose focus on guest needs. Not here. We had a problem with our room and were relocated into a larger better room without delay. Staff are very efficient and incredibly friendly and welcoming. They’re also very focussed on ensuring guests wishes are met or exceeded - like finding a way to provide cocktails in the club lounge that aren’t on the menu (thanks Pauline!). Can’t wait to stay here again - it seems the quintessential Singapore experience!

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Intercontinental Singapore Robertson Quay. The location is along the singapore river and a walking distance to Clarke Quay which has restaurants, nightlife and the singapore river cruise (recommend to go at night for stunning views of marina bay). The staff at the hotel were friendly, accomodating and helpful. We had a junior suite and it was spotless, with a modern minimalist decor style and nice amenities. Housekeeping came by twice a day to make up the room. 5 stars, totally recommend and hope to come back soon!

Yelp
You're in good hands if you choose to stay here - the team demonstrates impeccable professionalism, warmth and a genuine passion for hospitality. Their customer obsession shows from the ever cheerful voice on the other end of the 24-hour concierge hotline to going above and beyond ensuring every detail is well-arranged, shout out to Simran for working magic, Trina for replying to emails even at 3am, and the many other staff who have contributed to my memorable stay here, thank you! Rooms are relatively smaller here but efficiently organized with artful touches. If traveling for business, would not suggest the normal room with a King bed as the desk becomes smaller, instead would definitely recommend the Executive Suite instead.

Yelp
The hotel is near the river but not right next to it. The room is clean and the amenities are nice, however the rooms are very small. Not much of a view as the hotel is in between other hotels. Staff were very nice and efficient at check in and throughout our stay.

Yelp
A year ago I stayed a night at the other Intercontinental in Singapore and thought it was pretty outdated, but then I noticed this new one that popped up in the Robertson Quay area. I like the area given the river, restaurants, and bars, so I decided to give it a try this time around. The hotel looks completely modern (which is rare for Intercontinentals) and is nestled in a quieter area of Robertson Quay. They noted my platinum status upon check in and they upgraded my room plus they added a free breakfast option. Once I got to my room, it seriously reminded me of a typical hotel in New York. Pretty small and they try to optimize every square inch of the room. It's a shame too because the room itself looks brand new and modern. I managed to get a workout at the gym here and while all of the equipment was new, it was very compact and seriously needed the AC turned up a few notches (thought I was going to die of a heat stroke). The breakfast was located at the restaurant next door. The provided breakfast allows guests access to their small breakfast buffet, but you can also order one entree on their menu. The buffet was seriously lacking, but their entree was delicious and completely filling (which is why I hit the gym after). I was honestly pretty close to giving this hotel 4 stars, but I can't get over how small the room was. Also one night when I was leaving for dinner, the elevator took ~5 mins to be called. That's pretty ridiculous given there are only 10 floors in the building. I even chatted with another guest who said he waited 10 mins the night before for the elevator and he missed his Grab because of it.

Yelp
The Good: :: location is good for those who want to be in the Robertson Quay area :: service was very attentive and professional :: has a ton of restaurants within walking distance :: bus stop is a short walk away :: next to the river and next to a really colorful, aesthetic pedestrian bridge :: daily complimentary bottled water :: bathroom shower pressure was good :: bed was very comfortable :: slippers and robe provided for use :: mechanized hotel curtains :: in-room safe available for use :: bathroom amenities are plentiful, like toothbrush and toothpaste, cotton pads, qtips, shaver/razor, and more :: bathroom area was very spacious :: Handy phone free for you to use as you travel around the city! very convenient, allows you to make calls to certain countries at no extra charge, also has internet so you can use it as your city guide making your way around Singapore The Bad: :: room itself is on the smaller side :: you couldn't control the air conditioning in the room to stay on all day while you are gone. this means when you leave in the morning and come back from work all day, the room is humid and muggy and takes some time to cool down. the air conditioning and lights are both controlled by a motion sensor so it knows when you leave to shut everything off. i understand the need to control waste of hotel guests, but the grossest thing is to go all day in the humidity of Singapore, only to come back to your hotel room and it's just mucky in there :: the gym was always at 27 or 28 degrees Celsius, which is about 80 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. no gym should ever be that warm. i'd go running and workout and be disgusting sweating because the temperature in the gym wasn't set to cool. i tried to call the hotel and ask them to lower the temperature but it never got adjusted. :: the elevators in the hotel were set up in a way that was annoying. you had to go to 2 different elevators just to get to your room. the first elevator just took you to the lobby and checkin, then you had to walk across the lobby to get to the elevator for the rooms. this isn't a big deal if you are staying a short time, but i was there for a while and it got tedious very quickly. just simple things like going to pick up Deliveroo from downstairs was a pain. The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? I don't think so. I didn't hate it, I just didn't love it, and all the inconveniences distracted from the whole. If you're looking for a place that's close to a lot of things in the Robertson Quay area and budget isn't an issue, then I'd recommend this to you. This place is IN (but not enthusiastically).

Yelp
We had a wonderful 4 day stay at this beautiful property! Rooms are very upscale with lots of cool amenities. Management staff is extremely engaging and gave great suggestions for fun things to do in the area. Location is great! We used the hotel bicycles to ride the bike path to the Marina Bay area.

Yelp
This review is a little delayed but my wife and I had a great time during our stay here while on our honeymoon. The location is great with tons of restaurants and shopping in the area. Taxis were not hard to find as soon as you walked out the door with one usually waiting to take you wherever and the subway system is not a far walk. The hotel itself is very modern with great amenities but we didnt spend much time in the hotel itself as we opted to explore Singapore with all of the great suggestions that the front desk offered to us during our check in. The concierge, Paul, was fantastic helping us with reservations and places to go grab a drink in the evening. Cant wait to go back.
