InterContinental Sofia by IHG

My recent journey to Bulgaria included my very first visit to InterContinental Sofia, and it turned out to be one of the most exceptional experiences I have ever had within the IHG portfolio in Europe. From the moment of arrival to the very last interaction, every aspect of the stay reflected an impressive standard of professionalism, warmth, and refined hospitality. The hotel’s operations—spanning room quality, dining, lounge service, check-in, overall guest experience, and amenities—were remarkably well-executed: concerted, organized, harmonized, and truly impeccable. InterContinental lounges are quite rare in Europe, and Sofia stands out as one of the few properties offering this privilege. Although the lounge itself is intimate and the selection modest in quantity, the quality is simply outstanding. The lunchtime sandwiches and the evening happy-hour presentations were flavorful, savory, and genuinely exquisite—more akin to thoughtfully curated dishes served in a restaurant than typical lounge offerings. The menu changed daily, demonstrating clear intent and care. This is, in my view, a testament to the hotel’s highly successful management. What elevated the experience even further was the heartwarming, well-trained, and gracious hospitality of the staff—especially Sedna, Mira, and all the other team members who made my stay truly memorable. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail brought an added dimension of joy to each day. InterContinental Sofia has quickly become one of my most preferred IHG properties, and I already look forward to returning. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and without reservation.

My adopted Neapolitan body hadn't adjusted to the Bulgarian rain and cold, so I spent a fair amount of time luxuriating in my room. I was upgraded to a room with a view of the church. Stunning ANY time if day. Miraslova and Katerina in the Club Lounge were unforgettable. They were so friendly and kind. One evening, Katerina asked for my drink order. I told her to give me her favorite lemonade. She did One better, she got me a drink off the menu. Hibiscus lemonade! I shared my association of hibiscus flowers to when I lived on Okinawa. What a tasty drink and fond memory. GREAT customer service! Blagodarja ladies!

I was there for a two-day event and wouldn't be able to say a lot about the quality of the hotel. However, from the bathroom on the floor that the hall was located, I can confidently talk about the hotel's attention to cleanliness. It was spotless even for a packed area. The reception desk staff were courteous when I arrived and offered me some free beverages before the event. I want to assume that this professionalism extends to the hotel guests as well.

Very nice hotel. Centrally located, walking distance to most all parts of the city. Great staff. Has a nice club with great club attendants. Front desk staff also very nice. Highly recommend staying here.

I stayed at the InterContinental Sofia from 22–24 August and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the city. Staff and service were outstanding, and as an IHG member I was pleasantly upgraded. The room was very clean, with a modern bathroom, a comfortable bed, and a great view. As a small suggestion, it would be nice if IHG members could also enjoy perks or discounts in the bar and restaurant. Overall, a fantastic stay that I would happily recommend and look forward to repeating.

If you’re after a luxury stay in Sofia with superb location, reliable service, and classic international hotel comfort, InterContinental Sofia is a strong choice, especially for first-time visitors, business trips, or special occasions. Its combination of thoughtful amenities and central positioning.

Rooms are very nice and location is great. 15 mins to shopping area and 1 min to Sofia cathedral. The staff can smile a bit more, all look very stern and serious. They are helpful but look very serious and don't come across as friendly.

had a fantastic experience. The restaurant was elegant, the food was very tasty, and the service was excellent. Everything felt five-star from start to finish. One of the staff members spoke Arabic, which made me feel extra welcomed and comfortable—such a nice personal touch! Also, the valet service was very convenient—they parked my car right in front of the hotel, which I really appreciated. Even though my visit was short, I truly enjoyed every moment. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back when I visit Sofia again!
