“Felt welcome and at home with superb staff”
InterContinental Wien holds happy memories for our first time in Vienna. We felt safe, warm, and welcome despite the cold weather. The location is very good, the park with Johann Strauss’ figure was right across, and it’s easy to walk to the city center and shopping areas (about 10mins).
The Hotel has been around for decades and it is understandable that some details need repair, but overall, it’s not a deal breaker for me.
Dining at the hotel lobby was also delightful with the Christmas decorations, although it took some time for our orders because there were so many guests when we were there.
We stayed at room 1206 and the view of the skating rink was just magical. Just watching the skaters from above was a source of entertainment. Because we stayed in a room with Club Lounge Access, we have buffet breakfast and dinner, and lunch/ afternoon tea included in our rate. The food and beverage selections were substantial.
One area for improvement is the entrance stairs in the main driveway. There was no one to help us carry our bags because there were a lot of guests, so maybe a ramp in front can be added. Later we learned that we can use the side entrance so that’s where we scheduled our Uber dropoff to the airport, no need to carry our heavy luggage, we just wheeled them out.
The best experience came from the staff who helped us with our itinerary, directions, and other concerns. They were very professional and authentic. I would like to mention Emily and Suzette who took care of us.
Drinking water straight from the tap was a pleasure because it’s a source of pride for the locals and they’re very confident on the quality of the tap water in Vienna.
Vienna feels like a safe city despite the many other tourists like ourselves flocking to the Christmas markets, churches, and other Vienna attractions. We are two friends who stayed for 3D2N and Vienna holds a special place in our heart, not just for the sights but also because of our stay at the InterContinental Wien.
