I usually have a preferred hotel in Wellington, but circumstances meant I had to stay here—and I’m glad I did. I think I’ve found my new go-to. The rooms are immaculate, spacious, and well-appointed. The lobby is a beautifully designed space with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a stunning fireplace—perfect for meetings, catching up with friends, or simply unwinding after a long day. What truly sets this hotel apart is the service. This is the kind of place where you can have breakfast one morning and return the next to find the staff not only remember your name but also your coffee order and the small details of how you like your breakfast served. The concierge was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, offering thoughtful and accurate recommendations. They were also fun to have a conversation with. The only downside was the dinner experience—while the food was of excellent quality, the portion sizes were exceptionally small, leaving our group having to order multiple additional dishes. In a venue of this calibre, modest portions are expected, but in this case they felt inadequate. I must say the staff service was amazing though. Despite that, the overall experience more than made up for it. I’ve found my new preferred hotel in Wellington.

We stayed here for four nights with our kids, and it was such a lovely experience overall. The location is absolutely unbeatable. Te Papa, the waterfront, the playground, supermarkets, pharmacies, and even the cable car are all 10minute walk. It made getting around with children so easy and stress-free. The hotel’s signature Buzzbee High Tea was a highlight—fun and eye-catching for the kids, but also genuinely delicious and beautifully presented, even for adults. A real treat for the whole family. Our room was spacious and comfortable, which made a big difference during a longer stay. But what really stood out was the service. While the check-in staff weren’t the warmest at first, the rest of the team more than made up for it. The restaurant and lobby lounge staff were particularly kind and welcoming, and the valet/concierge team was absolutely outstanding—friendly, helpful, and always ready with a smile. Breakfast each morning became something we looked forward to, not just because of the food but because of the warm atmosphere created by the lovely staff. It was a wonderful place to come back to after each busy day, and we left with such good memories. We’d definitely love to stay here again.

Superb hotel with amazing staff! You cannot go wrong with the Intercontinental and this location was gorgeous. Rooms were spacious and clean and bed was incredibly comfortable. The TV had more channels than I have ever seen at any other hotel. The indoor pool is nice as well as the sauna. Breakfast is a really nice spread with many options. The location is walking distance to the downtown area, maybe about 10-15 minutes walking to Cuba Street. Highly recommend!

The hotel is in a great central location. ||Our premium room had a nice view overlooking the harbour together with access to the Club Lounge. There was nothing particularly special about the room although we did find the bed quite comfortable (maybe too soft for some). ||The Club Lounge on the 7th floor had a very relaxed ambience and excellent staff. They served breakfast in the mornings which included a chef who would cook anything you fancied. They also served a very good afternoon tea which included a tiered selection of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. And in the evenings it was a selection of canapés together with wine/cocktails. ||The hotel also featured a nice Spa area which included a heated indoor pool, jacuzzi and small sauna. The gym was pretty good too and featured lots of free weights. ||Highly recommended if you are planning a stay in Wellington, especially if you reserve a room with Club Lounge access.

I am a big user of Intercontinental Hotels staying at many across the globe. Wellington is such a nice city and the hotel perfectly located is brilliant and very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay using the breakfast offerings and the pool each day we stayed at the hotel. ||From the hotel it is a simply walk to the the docks for a lovely stroll by the water. Many restaurants are located close to the hotel and are of excellent quality. Wellington is such a great city and well worth the visit. If you do come to Wellington then I highly recommend staying at the Intercontinental Hotel.

I had a fantastic stay at the InterContinental Wellington. Decided to srat here before my flight to Christchurch. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional — warm, professional, and efficient. The rooms are modern, clean, and very comfortable, with high-quality linens and all the amenities you'd expect from a five-star hotel.||The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of the city, within walking distance to the waterfront, shopping, and some of Wellington’s best cafes and restaurants.||Breakfast was a highlight, offering a wide selection of fresh, delicious options including barista-made coffee, pastries, and cooked-to-order hot dishes. The club lounge access is also well worth it if you’re after extra comfort and a quiet space to relax or work.||Highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure stays — it truly delivers on luxury, convenience, and top-notch service.

A nice hotel with loads of potential in a great location. The rooms are well appointed and of a reasonable size with Le Labo toiletries offered. Here’s my gripe…cleanliness is a big challenge here. Our room had food scraps scattered outside the door in the hallway, as though someone had left their room service tray outside their room for collection, but most of it ended up on the carpet by the time it was picked up. And it stayed like that for the full time we were at the hotel, in spite of advising the staff on the ground floor twice. Even raising this with the clearly disinterested manager who promised she’d get it fixed immediately, had no effect. We had a drink in the bar on the evening of our arrival, the table and carpet where we were seated near the window was covered with food scraps and crumbs. It hadn’t occurred to the bar staff to clean it, so clearly no initiative, but they did whip out the handheld vacuum once I asked them to. This really isn’t good enough IHG staff. Look at your sister hotels in Asia and beyond, this shabby approach to keeping the surroundings pristine should not be the benchmark. Come on NZ, you can do better. And here’s a thought, you’ve got a wonderful, attentive and enthusiastic young man who was at the concierge desk on the afternoon of March 1, around 2pm. Promote him to manager, as the incumbent really isn’t remotely interested in customer feedback or maintaining a high level of professionalism to represent the hotel.

The service was impeccable throughout. Great room. Excellent facilities. Comfortable furniture. Travelled many countries but can truthfully say this was the best hotel experience I have ever had. Many thanks to all the staff on their professionalism and helpfulness. We will be back.
