Interlude Coffee

My favourite coffee in Bristol! Super helpful, friendly and passionate staff. Be sure to ask about Dino's coffee too as the guy who works here roasts them and it is truly some of the most extraordinary coffee I've ever tasted.

I was a little hesitated when my friend sent me the Google screenshot of this shop. As in the cover photo the shop looked a bit dated. But when I actually stood outside, it’s completely different vide. It’s not dates, it’s naturally light, original and relaxing. Tried the batch brew for the first time and liked it (still needed milk). Just wondering if there will be cakes in the future?

Exceptional coffee place. Certainly my favourite in Bristol. Possibly anywhere. I'm not an expert in coffee and I doubt I have a super refined palate, but I travel a lot with work, and have lived for weeks or months in quite a few cities the last few years. I like coffee shops, and I need a base to feel settled in a place, so I end up trying really nice coffee in shops that get a lot of acclaim. I rarely drink nicer coffee than they serve in Interlude, and in the places where I have been a regular, even if it's as good, it's rarely as consistently good. But more to the point none of those places have the vibe that Interlude has. The owner was born to do this and has created a real *place*. I can't put it any other way. That's rare. It's friendly, comfortable, democratic, happy, welcoming. People love this place. I see it from other customers. I went on too much and probably this feels indulgent, but I really like this place and I wanted to get across that it's the kind of place that means something to people.

Just not a good espresso. It had acidity at the high end, and a really dark roast low end that left my mouth feeling dry. No sweetness at all. I didn't finish it. I certainly could have said something, but £3.20 down and with a bad taste in my mouth I didn't want to add an awkward conversation to my experience here. EDIT SUBSEQUENT TO OWNER'S REPLY That's really cool you offer natural process coffees. I love them! I wish I'd seen the tasting notes you mention. A couple of weeks ago I had a natural process coffee at another cafe in Bristol. It had acidity, sweetness and fruit like pineapple. It was amazing. The cup I had here was absolutely not that. I can doubt myself because I'm not a super-connoisseur, but I really think that something was just wrong with this cup. The dry mouth-feel and total lack of sweetness were bad. Mine is the only negative review here, so hopefully it's a one-off.

Lawrence is the most hospitable person I know and has built the most amazing neighbourhood atmosphere in his cafe. Amazing selection of retail coffee and perfect sun spot with a batch coffee.

The latest caffeine fuelling station venture from local coffee celebs. Hyperbole aside, this is a project based on high quality raw material sourcing and a wonderfully presented end product. ☕️ Go for the coffee, stay for the banter.

A cosy independent coffee shop on St Michael's Hill convenient for the university or anyone who has made it to the top of the hill! The coffee is excellent and there is a small selection of pastries and sandwiches. The shop is shared with Psychopomp Distillery so you can also buy a number of flavoured gins. There is a toilet for customers. The seating is all on stools but they are quite comfortable.
