International au Lac Historic Lakeside Hotel

We’ve fallen in love with this place! Our stay felt like stepping back in time, with the hotel’s rich history, antique furniture, and traditional service creating an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail and quality really stood out, making it the perfect place to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. We loved spending our afternoons on the balcony overlooking the piazza, enjoying the peaceful view. The honesty bar was a lovely touch, and the beautiful teapots added charm. We thoroughly enjoyed reading about the hotel’s history and admiring the beautiful photos throughout. It was a truly exceptional, comfortable, and pleasant stay. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for making our time here so wonderful in every way!

Stunning hotel in the perfect location. Our room and view were fabulous. The hotel has a cute museum that featured items from my childhood...talk about feeling old! They also had an honor system station for drinks and snacks, open all the time. We had a full balcony on the front of the hotel, which was special. Highly recommend staying here for your stay in Lugano!

The location of this hotel is amazing. We had a partial lake view room and it was amazing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view of the lake. The room was excellent and we appreciated the robes and slippers. It was a lot of fun to walk around and window shop at the high end shops and walk around the lake. The front desk was very helpful, especially explaining how to get the bus to the train station. We wish we could have stayed longer.

The rooms are beautifully appointed with comfy beds and fluffy pillows. Our balcony provided breathtaking views of Lake Lugano. The olde work charm just oozes from this hotel. The quality and workmanship are exceptional. Truly, a grand hotel. The staff is professional and welcoming. We had a delightful stay.

Elegant, classic hotel with stunning views. We enjoyed two nights in this wonderful hotel, with easy access to all Lugano has to offer. The hotel has been updated so well - retaining the old world charm, but adding conveniences like modern bathroom fixtures, many power outlets, and good lighting. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and the honor bar is a lovely touch. Enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony, watching the people stroll past and the lake change colors with the setting sun, was a highlight of our trip.

Wonderful place to stay and enjoy breakfast and walk around the neighborhood. The church next door is a charming spiritual space. The boat ride on the lake was a high point of our trip. We could have stayed for three nights instead of two had we known how good it was. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient.

We were greeted warmly by Juliana on reception, who showed us a map containing local points of interest and places to eat. Our room (221) was adorned with antique furnishings and a large bathroom, both of which were exceptionally clean.||Included breakfast (in our booked rate) had a good variety and dining room had a pleasant ambiance. Coffee was excellent!||The hotel location was a short stroll into the center of Lugano. Ferry for the lake about 8 minute walk and the funicular up the hillside to main train station 5 minute walk.||We would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful historic hotel in heart of Lugano. Our balcony overlooked the lake and provided both spectacular views and rest. The property pool and grounds were inviting and lovely. The service very courteous and helpful. Would stay again!
