HUGE selection of pastries and sweets! The staff is super friendly and helpful. You grab a tray and fill it up with everything you could possibly want, then get in line and checkout. We also got hot chocolate and a mocha and loved it! The donuts practically melt in your mouth!

The visual attraction to the bakery is almost as irresistible as the aroma. Everything is beautifully arranged and looks very appealing. The day we were there, the bakery was full of a lot of hustle and bustle, and we limited ourselves to just a few of the most appealing items. We found the M&M cookies and the chocolate chip cookies to be a bit on the plain side, but the mini-apple danishes were pretty good.

Google
Walk in, grab a tray and tongs, then fill up the tray! Take it to the counter and they bag it all up for you. Super simple process. There are tons of baked goods to choose from and all are very reasonably priced (most were between maybe $0.85-1.25? Although some rolls with meat/jalapeños were $2). Very friendly employees!! Can't wait to come back and try some other treats!

Such a fabulously delicious selection!

Google
This pretty much gets 5 stars because of value. I didn't love all the pastries/breads. They ranged from a 3-5 stars, but you can't beat them price for what you get. It's definitely a fun place to go grab a number of goodies. The tray that I'm carrying in the picture was just under 21 dollars all together.

Clare

Google
The workers thought I didn't speak Spanish, so they discussed my appearance directly in front of me. They get an extra star because the bread is usually good, except when it's really dry. But I'm not going to come back to a place with workers that insult me because they think I won't understand.

When I first went here, I was overwhelmed to see at the varieties they serve. I went to pick up a cake (photo below). It’s a mixed fruit tresleches and I am in love with this cake ever since I have eaten. They keep baking fresh stuff whole day around and everything is amazing. It’s less sweet which I really like and you can enjoy have their stuff without a sugar saturation in your palette. Should go!! Miss this bakery in Omaha!

Dwayne Cooper

Google
This place is awesome! I strongly recommend that everyone visit this place. The pasteries, cakes ,and bread are surperb.

Pam S.

Yelp
There's a lot of pastries to choose from here. You have to go by looks because there's no description written anywhere, other than the "Jalapeno", which we bought one. These desserts I didn't think were very sweet. The jalapeno pastry was not overly spicy-with the cream it was tasty! I like all the choices & the location is always a fun place to visit. You should definitely stop by if you're in South Omaha!

Jess H.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. I've been coming here since I was 11 years old when I lived in South Omaha. As a Mexican growing up in Omaha, it was always important to know where the good pan de dulce was. This place is it. I keep coming back even now when I live all the way in Elkhorn. Great prices, authentic atmosphere, exceptional service. Will never stop coming here.

Jen R.

Yelp
You haven't lived until you have had pan de dulce from International Bakery!!! I've been going here since I was a child and it has the best bread and the best prices!! Most authentic and delicious bread!

Teresa M.

Yelp
I cannot believe I have never reviewed this place before. It's all about the cafeteria trays and tongs Walk in grab tray and pair of tongs The prices are never the same (cheap cheap cheap) You go down the line and self serve all the delicious homemade treats The Jalapeño and cream cheese rolls are the best things ever. The rolls are fresh and a hint of sweetness. They are stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeños OMG I never know what I'm getting but it's always delicious. You take your tray up to pay and they bag or box it for you. Amazing!!!!

Naomi S.

Yelp
The pastries are absolutely wonderful! The staff is friendly and efficient. Gotta love the intoxicating aroma of yeast and sugar in the air as you walk up to it!

Nicole O.

Yelp
One of the best places to get pan + many other things. I enjoy the smell when you first walk in and it's super easy to get what you want

Dan S.

Yelp
I almost need a guide to tell me what to get, what to try. I went around 3pm on a Saturday and took a plate and tried a host of different things - mostly assorted baked/fried items with sugar (no filling) Things can be $1-3 but a ton of things under $1/each

Jesse W.

Yelp
This bakery is a hazard to every fat kids life! The smells roams down the street, like a well place fly just in front of a starving trout. You grab your tray, each pastry some unknown delight waiting for my attention and finally the price. I bought more but spent less then I usually would for a dozen, regular cake donuts. And, I mean this, the ladies behind the counter where super nice.

Kimberle B.

Yelp
First of all I'm love bread! Live their different variety but I especially love their chorizo, jalapeño, and cream cheese Bolillo, they also have one with cream cheese and jalapeño only. I had been Looking everywhere for these bolillos and they did not disappoint!

Kris S.

Yelp
Lots of variety. The pastries are really good and they also have drinks. Prices are very fair.

Robert G.

Yelp
This is a wonderful little bakery always stop here while I am in town would recommend this bakery to everyone

Joan N.

Yelp
So, I got the muffins and this soft pink cookie that has a strawberry-like filling and topped with fine coconut grits. It' tasted so much like pastries that I've had back in the Philippines! Very soft and dense. I think this is a Mexican bakery but since two of the items I picked out tasted like Filipino ones, I guess their name would qualify for it. ;)

Ron D.

Yelp
Marking it a 5 because it does a very good job at what it is trying to be, A neighborhood bakery!!! Most of it's products are for the Mexican neighborhood. Although they also have other items. I have a habit of buying too much then not eating it while fresh. Can't really tell you what to try as everyone's preferences are different. My friend likes the twinkie look alikes and the strawberry cake. I have a few favorite and tend to try 1 thing different. To be honest some of their pasties are too doughy for me. There are many items with cream cheese, cherry, apple and pineapple filling..... Also make some breads. Haven't tried much of these.

Miguel S.

Yelp
If I could 6 star this place I would. It is still operating in a safe manner during COVID. You go in, grab tongs and a tray and go around grabbing the pastries and bread you want. It has a great selection of yummy options! And all fresh off the oven if you go in the right times! And it sooooo cheap. This is a danger to anybody trying to cut carbs. The bread is so tasty and so good. The croissants are huge and very doughy. The doughnuts are nuts!! If you have been living in Omaha for more than 1 month and have not tried this place you are missing out a lot. 6/5 stars!!!!

Kara D.

Yelp
This place is a treasure trove. You walk in, grab a tray, and fill it up with delicious yet inexpensive baked goods... Jesus take the wheel! The baked goods range from sweet to savory. Like cheese & meat filled goodies and cakes and pastries of all sorts. There is so much variety you'll not know how to narrow down your choices. I don't even know the names of everything we got but there wasn't anything I didn't like. My favorite of which was this ring of dough filled with cheese. The contrast of sweet and savory was insanely good. My two favorite food groups: dairy and dough! Most items are sold by the piece in the cases, but you can also buy whole already made cakes or have custom orders made.

Lianna N.

Yelp
This little bakery in the middle of the 24th street "Mexico town" strip of Omaha serves up some tasty carbs that can serve as breakfast, snack, or dessert. They have a few chilled desserts and do catered cakes, Mexican pastries, doughnuts, cake and a few savory treats. I have tried it various times from other people, and finally came myself. I have only found one thing I really like-it's the ding dong copy-cat cupcake, which I am pretty sure is not Mexican? The breaded desserts are drier than I am used to, and I don't prefer that-I love baked goods to be moist. Unless you grew up with these types of pastries or speak Spanish, many of the intricacies and specialness of these pastries may be lost on you. I know I certainly felt that way. Overall, this is a great friendly local bakery serving up some amazing smells and varied products. I feel guilty for a three star review, since everyone else I know is enamored! If this was an Asian bakery, I would probably be writing the 5 star review and someone else would have lesser affection. To each their own- this place is really cool but maybe this is just not my thing.

Eva T.

Yelp
Excellent prices, THE place to go for fresh Mexican pastries and my favorite...pan dulce!

Kayla K B.

Yelp
International bakery should be on every bakery lovers list! I love stopping in and getting a bag of goodies. Right now they have trays and tongs by the door so you know noone else has touched what you are grabbing (except for the bakers of course). I always get a couple of conchas and then grab whatever else looks tasty. The donuts are to die for and the filled pastries are scrumptious.

Chris K.

Yelp
Inexpensive bakery with loads of Mexican pastries! Pick up a tray and tongs and start filling ! The pastries were tasty. Busy place!

David Y.

Yelp
Fantastic local bakery that has excellent flavors, unbeatable value, and huge selection. One of the best bakeries I've been to in Omaha, I highly recommend this place.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Yes you should come here. Is that a good enough review? I mean that pretty well sums it up, okay so... This place is cheap and filled with a never ending variety of treats. They make different things each day, and have a few normal favorites on the menu. They are constantly baking things fresh throughout the day, so if what you like isn't there, they can typically tell you when they'll have it. I have tried just about everything they have and nothing was absolutely terrible, although I do have a couple favorites. The bisecleta de queso (which I totally spelled wrong) is a round pastry that is $2.50 and is filled with cheese. It's the second most expensive pastry but worth the try. At first I thought it was weird to eat cheese with sugar, now I like it a bit too much. The creme empanada is amazing too and only 50¢, palm hearts (crispy pastry shaped like an ear or a heart... they say it's old people pastry lol), and if they have the taco de queso (it's a log shaped white pastry filled with cheese) give it a try. It's like the other one only cheaper and I think has more cheese. Half of the staff are bilingual and MORE than helpful if you need it. They also make custom cakes, sell bolillos (which make a heck of a sandwich!), and yes you should come here. I think they might take credit cards now (although I'm not 100% on that one), but cash is best, and like others have said You'd be hard pressed to spend $10 or more without buying a mountain of sugary yummys.

Kelli S.

Yelp
Oh my International Bakery where have you been all my life ??? Lol seriously though I have to admit I have a wicked sweet tooth so this bakery hits the spot. As you enter you're immediately hit with the delicious smells of freshly baked breads and pastries. As others have stated when you walk in the first thing you do is grab a tray and a pair of tongs to pick your items .The choices are endless so the only problem you'll have is choosing what to get!!! I literally wanted one of everything. The staff was pleasant and helpful answering any questions we had. I would definitely recommend International Bakery for its sweet and savory treats .I promise you won't be disappointed!!!!

Shreya R.

Yelp
It's too bad I haven't reviewed this place before because it is my FAVORITE bakery in Omaha. If you're looking for freshly baked goodies this is your place to go to! Best part- Very very cheap. You can literally get a ton of breads/cookies/donuts/cream rolls/coffee cakes under $10. Second best part- The bakes are always flying off the shelves, so everything you get is very fresh. In fact, the freshly baked aroma is the first thing that hits you when you enter. The place is also very clean. This place has never disappointed me, so don't waste any more time reading my review, and go grab some bakes from this little gem of a bakery.

Jessica B.

Yelp
We were visiting Omaha for the weekend we found this place on Yelp and immediately knew we had to check it out! It reminded me of the traditional panaderia's that I used to go to when I lived in California. We could smell the delicious pan dulce as we walked down the street. They had so much to choose from with very affordable prices. Also they had both sweet and a few savory options. $7.50 fed us for two breakfast, a few snacks and even lunch! Great variety and delicious fresh pan dulce. You definitely should check it out if in the area.

Antonio T.

Yelp
Grab a tong, grab a tray and start loading up on sweets - and sometimes meats. They have a pretty wide variety here at International Bakery, and they always come out with something new every single day. They usually (85% of the time) have chocolate chip cookies & sweet bread here as well as spanish cheesecake, corn muffins, cookies with strawberry jelly, chocolate donuts and much more. A lot of times they will sell cooked meat/bread products such as empanadas with meat & vegetables stuffed in them, as well as chorizo rolls that have spicy meat & cream cheese stuffed inside of them. At one point they were selling some italian bread - it was very good; it's too bad they haven't sold it in a long time. You can get a soda or a gatorade at the front desk before paying as well. This is always a fun place to come to - I recommend it for everyone that loves bakery sweets.

Naomi C.

Yelp
This place is such a cute little bakery. You first walk in and it smells absolutely divine. I don't speak and Spanish which is fine because it is self-serve and you just grab what you want. The one downside is that there isn't labels on the containers so you don't really kno what your getting unless you've had it before. But I picked out five items and each one was better than the next. They do have a Facebook page and they took a picture of each pastry with its name beside it. I ended up looking up each one and did a little research. Would def come back again

Vanessa M.

Yelp
I really wish things were labeled with ingredients listed... but we can't have everything. Anyway I always enjoy going here. I don't go often as I live out of state and when I am in town I stay mainly west, but when I'm in the area I usually try to stop. You walk in, grab a tray and a tongs, (I question the cleanliness of the tongs as they're right by the door for everybody to touch as I watched a small toddler touching all of them) then you pile on as many baked goods as you want, pay, and leave! Everything is super cheap, it's all self serve so you can take as much or as little time as you need deciding on what you want, and the check out line goes quickly as well. The staff is friendly and so are the customers. Like I said in the beginning, I really wish things were labeled so I didn't have to guess what they are, I don't go enough to just know what it is. I also wish there was ingredients listed for the items too so I wasn't playing a guessing game with allergies, but it's been all good so far! Give it a try!

Frank M.

Yelp
Whenever I'm visiting Omaha this bakery is always the first and last place I visit. The quality, variety, and price of the baked goods are unmatched. I've only tried the baked goods but they also have a cold case with flan, cake, and other goodies. Some of my favorites are: The strawberry coconut pinwheels (Niño Envuelto or YoYo, if i recall correctly), Orejas (elephant ears), one similar to the Orejas but oval (super crispy with caramelized edges), and the bear claw like pastry with pineapple filling. Whenever work brings me to Omaha, I get really excited because it means I get to visit this lovely bakery.

Michelle M.

Yelp
It doesn't matter where I live, I will travel miles to get to this place. I have not found another bakery in Omaha that compares to the location on 24th & P. When I had questions in the past, the owner, Francisco, was so nice. I have been going here since the store first opened and it just continues to get better. I love all the varieties of bakery here. My favorite is the Pay de Queso or Mexican Cheesecake. I also love the Marranitos, the soft gingerbread pig cookies. My list could go on and on! When the COVID first started, you could order online and then pick up the bakery at a back window, but it's pretty much back to business now. You must wear a mask in the store. You have the option to sanitize your tray and tongs before you go through the line. One thing that I have always loved about this store is their decorations at Christmas time and Valentine's Day. I love the big Christmas tree and the big balloons, so I will add some of those pictures to my review. I appreciate the thought that they put into those. This store is one of the best additions ever to South Omaha and I hope they stay put for a very long time! Gracias!

Nel P.

Yelp
Great selection of pastries! Finally got a chance to try this place out and we were not disappointed. Lots of selection and everything looks really good--and the ones we got were really a treat.

Daniel L.

Yelp
I miss having pan dulce and decided to visit this Mexican bakery after finding it on Yelp. This bakery is located in a predominantly Mexican neighborhood and highly popular among the locals. Like many Mexican bakeries, the protocol consists of picking up a tray and tong by the entrance, and survey around the large interior to gather the choices before paying at the cashier. The vibe is family friendly as the adults were piling the colorful breads onto their platters while small children used the open floor to roam between the glass displays. I couldn't resist the sweet aroma in the air, and got a Chocolate Concha, Strawberry Concha, Pan Fino, and Cema for 50 cents each. Everything seems bigger in the Midwest and these breads were no different. Dense, buttery, and sugary summed up the visit, as they were good fillers throughout the day. I didn't care for the Pan Fino since it tasted more like a stiff biscuit with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. However, the Conchas had a nice cinnamon flavor and the eggy star anise qualities in the Cema really stood out. Cema is typically used in sandwiches so I thought the challah and brioche-like textures could be a good ingredient for burgers, sandwiches, and even eggs benedicts. While I understand the reasons this bakery is so popular, I also thought the breads lacked the soft spongy textures that I had experienced in other panaderias. Service was kind, friendly, and responsive. The turnover rate for their pan dulce is high, so interested visitors can always take a quick peek next door to see how they're made. Based on the price and value, I'm definitely interested in coming back.

Will S.

Yelp
After eating six-plus tacos from three separate taquerias, the last thing I thought I needed was a tray full of baked goods. But I was wrong. The most recent taco tour led our group of Yelpers here. As others seriously stocked up on some sweets, I opted for some sort of savory goods. I found these doughy rolls filled with ham, cream cheese and jalapenos. Honestly, they tasted a bit bland (at least compared to all the delish tacos I had just devoured), but maybe it was because my stomach was already stretched a bit past recommended capacity. Bottom line stands with International Bakery: If you're ever in the area, grab your cash and go here for a mountain of dirt-cheap sweets of all varieties. And Christine B is right -- it's really, really hard to spend over $7 here. If you do, you'll have sweets on hand for weeks.

Sarah G.

Yelp
"I bet this is what heaven smells like." Unfortunately I don't recall specifically who to attribute the above quote to (Erin?) but it's a pretty accurate summation of International Bakery. It was hard not to skip around gleefully grabbing warm pastries of all types... breads, doughnuts, croissants and other indistinguishable offerings. I settled on some kind of filled item and hoped it was sweet - after all this was just a minor pit stop on a 5 restaurant tour - and was rewarded with lemony sweet goodness (shared amongst our group) for something like $0.50. How have I not been here before and how soon can I get back there? Not soon enough...

Mark C.

Yelp
Okay, I am impressed by the International Bakery on 24th Street. It is pretty nondescript from the outside, but what a place once you are inside. There is a huge selection of bakery goods piled...yes literally piled on trays and shelves inside. Tip - The bakery is a cash only establishment. No debit or credit cards and no ATM inside the business. Once you are inside, grab a cafeteria tray and a set of tongs and the game is on. Pick whatever you wish and stack your tray high. There are donuts, pastries, breads stuffed with cheese, chorizo and other tasty treats, and cookies...oh and cakes and puddings, etc, etc. The employees speak predominantly Spanish, but there is English as well, so don't let that discourage you from going. Oh, and the price is very.....very...inexpensive. We got a bag of goodies about 12 items and the price was only $6.75. No where else you can go and get fresh bakery items this cheaply. Go check this place out and grab a bag of goodies.

Renee A.

Yelp
Another gem on 24th! International Bakery is a Mexican style panaderia with a wide variety Mexican breads & sweets. The concept is simple: walk in, grab a red tray and tongs, and load it up! The variety is great-fresh baked breads, sweet rolls, cookies, cakes, empanadas, cream horns, conchas, the works! We grabbed a variety of goodies and made our way to the counter today. Prices are ridic low-we got about 10 different items for less than $6. Score! The baked goods were still warm from the oven and tasted so good. I was particularly impressed with the pineapple empanada. Fair warning--Mexican baked goods are on the drier side than what you may be used to. This is because most are designed to be paired with a hot cup of coffee. So keep that in mind during your selection. A great place to go when you want to satisfy your sweet tooth with something out of the ordinary!

Angie A.

Yelp
Best Mexican bread ever ! Was my first time today and had to go back for seconds. Every bread I got was so good.

Lance F.

Yelp
If there is a heaven and I am allowed in (LONG shot), I hope it smells half as good as it does at the International Bakery. When I walk in, I feel like Bugs Bunny in the old cartoons where he just floats to the wonderful smelling carrot. Except in this case, it's wonderful pan dulce. This place is truly as good as it gets. The variety of baked goods is fantastic and as everyone has said, the prices are great too. Just walk in, grab a tray and some tongs, and get to work picking out your treasures. I have, for some insane reason, given up most sweets, so I have not actually had anything from here in about six months. But, we've stopped in the last few weeks to pick stuff up for the rest of the family. Some favorites include cake slices, chocolate cupcakes (think hostess but homemade in shop), a french bread slice with a white frosting and sugar, and the donuts. I am certain all of these have great names in Spanish but I cannot begin to tell you any of them. I wish I could. Just trust me that if you end up here and leave with anything, you'll likely love it. Just writing this review has made me question my life choice of cutting back on sugars. Damn you International Bakery! Why are you so amazing?

Yon C.

Yelp
The price here are INSANE..so cheap! The pastries are decent and you can fill up a big bag for only a few bucks. There is a good selection and I will always go there if I am nearby. Just pick up a tray and tongs and get picking some yummy pastries. It isnt a place to eat in, just to pick up lots of yummy pastries to take home.

Nat O.

Yelp
Nice bakery which we don't see in West O. Lots of pastries, bread, cakes, and donuts, for super cheap price. Breads are little dry to me but I think it is supposed to be like that. Their tres leche cake is great. The store is very nice and clean. Fun to visit if you are around.

Aaron B.

Yelp
This has all the goodies and sweets you could ever want. All of the breads, and desserts are fantastic. You come in and grab a tray, and tongs. You grab everything you could ever want and then they ring it up for you. It is cheap here. The price per item is so extremely low that it is such a great place to come. It can be super busy so make sure that you come when it's not super full.

Jake B.

Yelp
Best place in Omaha to get any unique pastry from other countries. A must go to if you're new to Omaha!

Dale M.

Yelp
Not only are the baked goods excellent, the customers helpful in letting us know what everything is and what's good

Robin T.

Yelp
Pretty good selection considering how late it was. I need to go in the morning when the cases are full. Great tasting items and easy check out! Prices are incredibly reasonable!

Moira R.

Yelp
I was in the area early one morning so I decided to stop in and pick up some baked goods to bring to work. Parking is a little confusing, since there is limited street parking, but I was able to find a spot at the other end of the block. The bakery is set in a huge, open building. The left side is lined with racks of fresh baked goods and the right side has cases full of baked goods available for selection. When you walk in, you grab a red, plastic tray and a set of tongs and then make your selections from the cases. Everything is between 35 cents and $1.50. There are labels, but I still had no idea what anything was, so I just grabbed one of (almost) everything. I got 13 items and made my way to the front counter to pay. I knew the prices were low, but was still shocked when the gentleman behind the counter told me my total was $3.95 (I actually did a double-take). The baked goods are obviously affordable, but they are also pretty good. The texture is drier than what I am used to, but the flavor is really good. I tried 4 of them (pieces of them, not the whole items), and enjoyed all of them. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Lorie M.

Yelp
I absolutely love Pan Dulce. This is the best Mexican bakery I have ever visited. They have a wide variety of items, some I have never even seen before. I recommend the Conchas.

Maggie F.

Yelp
The only regret I have is not having purchased more!! The delicious smell lead me in, I paused for a moment at the sign that said 'cash only', then I wandered in to see if it was worth me having to find an ATM. Bins & bins of brightly colored, yummy smelling delights greeted me. I didn't even know what most of them where, but I felt a great need to find out, lol. There's an ATM across the street, so after a quick dash to and from, I picked out a few, or 1/2 dozen, pieces of different kinds of breads. My favorite was something that looked like a cone and had a perfect custard like filling inside...... ahhhhhhhhh!!!! If there where pastries in heaven, this would be one of them :) I may need to move to Omaha just to be closer to this bakery,,,, that & buy stretchy pants, lol

Jess G.

Yelp
So many delicious, fresh, cheap pastries! I recommend the ones with filling...unless you don't like filling...

Zachary M.

Yelp
Do you like baked goods? How about cheap baked goods!? If you answered yes to either of these questions please keep on reading. I was just introduced to this wonderful bakery and I loved it so much I bought all my friends baked goods so they could see for themselves what I'm talking about. No worries about breaking the bank with this place, everything was very inexpensive. I'm talking 3 items for $1! I'm not a fan of most things sweet so spending a lot of money on sweets is not something I like to do, much less take the time to write a review about it. But I do like things that are cheap and good quality. Usually it's impossible to have both of these. Not in the case of the International Bakery. The building itself sits on the corner around 24th and Q street (Across from Thrift World). The first time I walked in I thought I might have been in the wrong spot. I felt like I could be walking into a military mess hall, but I quickly got over the lack of any decor as soon as I turned to notice the wall of deliciousness. After all, I'm only there for the product. They offer many different varieties of baked goods It's all self serve, you dish up the items you want onto your own tray and take it to the cashier: kind of like old country buffet but.. well, not not at all... I believe they also have breads you can buy or place orders, this is something I will be going back asap to check out and buy. As if you don't already have a million reasons to visit and shop in South Omaha, now you have one more: International Bakery!

Christine B.

Yelp
My interactions with International Bakery is a continual reminder that I need to invest in Spanish lessons because a) I have no idea what I'm buying and, therefore, can never truly write a thorough review with specifics and b) my recent attempt to order a cake by phone was a epic fail due to my inability to communicate. Nonetheless, I embrace my limited language skills, and armed with plastic tray and tongs, will continue to try to spend more than $7 a visit (epic fail on that front as well). Near impossible when everything seems priced at 50 cents or less. Sigh....I could really go for one of those chocolate tipped palmiers right now...oh shoot, that's the French.
