International Guest House

Ended up staying here 3 times for short periods throughout our 7 weeks travelling/trekking in Nepal. Every time we stayed, it felt as good as returning home. The staff were so friendly and welcoming every time. The rooms are beautiful and clean with great facilities. After returning from trekking I was struggling with health issues and needed to go to hospital (obviously a stressful experience when overseas) the staff called me an ambulance at 2am and waited with me as it arrived. They went as far as to even give me a little shoulder massage to make me feel better while I waited. I cannot express how appreciative I am to international guest house for how caring and supportive they were throughout our trip. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Thamel!

The grounds are very nice but that's where it ends. The rooms are overpriced and the beds are very uncomfortable - you'll feel springs in your back. They have a Cafe attached that is a chain smokers delight. The smoke fills all the areas - the last thing one needs after breathing yak pancake smoke in the Himalayas

Very friendly and helpful receptionists. Central location in Thamel. Easy access. The breakfast menu is every day, the same.

Int'l Guest House is a great hotel and really value for money. It is well situated in Thamel. The most remarkable about the place is its beauty and atmosphere. All is built in traditional Newari style with tiles and wood carvings around doors, windows, in corridors and terraces. Moreover, interiors and exteriors are decorated with a wealth of Nepalese antiquities: Religious masks and figures, pottery, carvings etc. |Rooms are spacey and with a view to either the back yard or front yard - green and beautiful. Cleaning staff has a charming habit of arranging your towels in swan / baby swan or flower figures. |Visiting during the winter months can be chilly. Our only recommendations to the hotel is to provide guests with an electric heater or a heated mattress to make the stay in the room more comfortable. However, with the very reasonable price for a room during January and February you can not expect full blown five star equipment. |We highly recommend Int'l Guest House to everyone with a feeling for careful and beautiful Nepali decoration style and handicraft, indoor as well as outdoor.

I have stayed here before and really love it. It is a peaceful and beautiful place to stay that is close to Thamel but just out of the hustle and bustle. The garden is such a highlight, so beautiful with its flowers and trees. A lovely place to sit and relax. Breakfast is yummy and there is a lovely menu to order lunch and dinner from. There is also a coffee shop attached to the guesthouse which offers delicious coffees and cakes. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Having enjoyed many stays here over the years the IGH remains my go-to place to stay in Thamel. Recently updated the hotel retains its crown as a peaceful oasis of calm and aesthetic beauty within north Thamel. ||The wonderful gardens and seating areas are excellent and feature a vast museum collection of Nepali cultural items and, in particular, architectural pieces including many that have been incorporated into the hotel itself. |Rooms on five floors provide en suite facilities and are maintained to a high standard on a daily basis. Included buffet style breakfast.. with cooked options available, has been recently updated and extended to provide a high quality western style selection. All services and guidance provided including Airport pickup on request. ||The long established staff and facilities reflect a high standard of care for their guests. Prices are mid-range and cater for the more discriminating guests including NGO workers that value the peaceful, maybe less tourist centred, atmosphere.||All credit to the owner and staff for maintaining this excellent establishment.

Great views from the roof, incredibly helpful staff, and they held our bigger luggage while we trekked. The courtyard was lovely too with many great decorations and plants. We were able to walk to the dream garden and old Durban square from here
