International Guest House

My husband had stayed here on a previous trip and brought me here on our next stay in Kathmandu. The gardens are lovely! Our room is clean, comfortable and decorated. The tv actually works, which is so rare in Nepal! Breakfast is adequate. Staff is friendly and professional. The rooms that overlook the garden are quieter.

A very good hotel at a very good price 👌 The rooms are a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel is very clean. We arrived early and they were very accommodating to us. You can store luggage securely when you're away trekking. In such a busy area, you don't hear the outside noise, which is a bonus.

International Guest House is a well priced hotel centrally located in the main tourist district, but on a quieter street. It has a lovely garden courtyard where you can relax and enjoy the nice breakfast buffet that is included with your stay; when we stayed, the citrus trees blooming gave off an incredible scent! The staff are very friendly and attentive. We stayed in three different rooms during our stops in Kathmandu: the "deluxe" rooms are worth the extra 10-15 usd a night as they have air conditioning and are a bit bigger. Like many place in Nepal, hot water is provided by solar heaters, so you may not get a hot shower first thing in the morning. Wait until the afternoon to guarantee hot water! All and all, we would gladly stay here again!

Good selection of continent breakfast, has free wifi and hot shower. We love the Nepali decorations.

Ended up staying here 3 times for short periods throughout our 7 weeks travelling/trekking in Nepal. Every time we stayed, it felt as good as returning home. The staff were so friendly and welcoming every time. The rooms are beautiful and clean with great facilities. After returning from trekking I was struggling with health issues and needed to go to hospital (obviously a stressful experience when overseas) the staff called me an ambulance at 2am and waited with me as it arrived. They went as far as to even give me a little shoulder massage to make me feel better while I waited. I cannot express how appreciative I am to international guest house for how caring and supportive they were throughout our trip. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Thamel!

The grounds are very nice but that's where it ends. The rooms are overpriced and the beds are very uncomfortable - you'll feel springs in your back. They have a Cafe attached that is a chain smokers delight. The smoke fills all the areas - the last thing one needs after breathing yak pancake smoke in the Himalayas

Int'l Guest House is a great hotel and really value for money. It is well situated in Thamel. The most remarkable about the place is its beauty and atmosphere. All is built in traditional Newari style with tiles and wood carvings around doors, windows, in corridors and terraces. Moreover, interiors and exteriors are decorated with a wealth of Nepalese antiquities: Religious masks and figures, pottery, carvings etc. |Rooms are spacey and with a view to either the back yard or front yard - green and beautiful. Cleaning staff has a charming habit of arranging your towels in swan / baby swan or flower figures. |Visiting during the winter months can be chilly. Our only recommendations to the hotel is to provide guests with an electric heater or a heated mattress to make the stay in the room more comfortable. However, with the very reasonable price for a room during January and February you can not expect full blown five star equipment. |We highly recommend Int'l Guest House to everyone with a feeling for careful and beautiful Nepali decoration style and handicraft, indoor as well as outdoor.

I have stayed here before and really love it. It is a peaceful and beautiful place to stay that is close to Thamel but just out of the hustle and bustle. The garden is such a highlight, so beautiful with its flowers and trees. A lovely place to sit and relax. Breakfast is yummy and there is a lovely menu to order lunch and dinner from. There is also a coffee shop attached to the guesthouse which offers delicious coffees and cakes. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
