The location is very good for the price. But the room leaves much to be desired. First it’s a 2 floor property, so, no lift, you need to carry your luggage up the stairs. 2nd, actually I thought I booked a Japanese style room, but it turned into western room. However, due to language barrier and arriving late, I just let it be. 3rd, the toilet was impossibly small, it was challenging to close the door while using the toilet. 4th, the bath was separated from the toilet, not an issue, but I was informed that it’s cold water and I need to request before they turn it on. I was also informed that the water will take approximately 5 mins to turn warm. I tried to turn it on and realised that the water pressure was low and water flow slowly. For the 2 nights that I stayed, I went to Onsen. For the record, the owner did offer coupons to go nearby onsens, however, the first night after I used a very old onsen nearby, I used a self-paid better quality onsen at another location. Suitable only for young, solo travellers looking for cheaper accommodation

We had the best stay at the Inn!! It's such a cozy place with studio Ghibli kind of vibes😍 The owner is a very nice old lady who has been doing this for the last 63 years, hence the familiar and unique style of the inn. She asked us if we wanted to dress up in a kimono and take pictures. She also made us tea while we were waiting and showed us her breathtaking collection of antiques. Honestly this place is a hidden gem, it's cheap (the rooms are comfy), close to the station and memorable! I definitely recommend it for those who are looking for an unforgettable marvelous experience 🔥

Great place to stay and experience the private hot spring bath with pre arranged set up. Friendly and helpful lady boss. Very nice set up , a lot of antiques Displays reminds you about the old days. Very comfy home stay . Convenient location . 5 minutes walk to Train station . We were late but just in time to catch our train.within 10 minutes.😊 Many restaurants just around the corners.

Rooms are spacious with a vintage old-school feel. The traditional bedding was clean and comfortable. The woman who runs the place is friendly and helpful. Use Google Translate if you need anything specific. There are many excellent restaurants close by and within walking distance of the train station.

I was almost discouraged by some bad reviews. But, i am very happy that I ignored his reviews and decided to stay here. I stayed here for two nights and I was very warm and comfortable. For 4350 you get a private room. The room is small and somewhat dilapidated. But it is clean, and the WiFi is very fast. The heating is great. The location of the hotel is perfect. And, during my stay it was very quiet. Although the room is dilapidated, it actually ended up being quite charming. Kind of old style retro. There are two single beds in the room. There’s even an old dial phone —and it works! Sink, small toilet, and very small bathroom. I didn’t use the shower/bath in the room anyway as the onsen is much better. ||The ladies who run the place are charming and very helpful. The downstairs area is very charming with many antiques.||If you are looking for a luxury room, this place is not really for you. But, if you want a warm, comfortable and friendly location right in the center a block from the train station, this is a great option. ||Also, I arrived at around noon and checked in with no problem. Many other hostels or hotels in Japan seem to want to prevent you from checking in until 4:00 PM.

Can't recommend this place enough. It is a time machine back to the showa era. The lady that runs the inn is beyond sweet, it feels like being at grandma's house. The ofuro is amazing, so relaxing and actually makes the skin much smoother. Is is very conveniently located, both near the station and several commercial streets and restaurants. Wish I stayed longer.

Exactly the type of place you should be staying in when visiting Japan. It’s unique, quirky and homely. The fact it’s dated shouldn’t be a concern - it has a lot of character. Fantastic to have an onsen in the hotel that’s available in the morning and the evening - much recommended. If you’re staying in a group, you’re able to book the onsen out for 30min private sessions in the evening. Great location and lovely friendly ladies that run the place. They have basic English and really appreciate you trying some Japanese on them! Would definitely visit again if I’m in Beppu once more.
