Roswell UFO Museum: Information About Visiting the Museum

"I found the Roswell UFO Museum in Roswell, New Mexico, opened to visitors in 1992 with a mission to educate the public about all aspects of the UFO phenomenon. Its exhibits cover Roswell, crop circles, sightings, Area 51, government cover-ups, and alien abductions; the highlight is a fake alien corpse from the 1994 Showtime movie “Roswell: The UFO Coverup,” and there’s also a replica of the Mayan sarcophagus lid from Palenque that supposedly shows a man blasting off in a spaceship. I thought the museum was super cheesy and not well done — there are lots of pictures and dioramas but the sections lack a cohesive story, the information is hard to follow and jumps around, and unless you already know the crash you probably won’t come away understanding what happened. That said, there are many photos of UFOs, first-person abduction stories, and videos that give insight into what believers think about aliens and government cover-ups; the museum also supports research with a library used by die-hards and has a great bookstore of so-called “seminal works.” Since 1996 the annual Roswell UFO Festival draws researchers and enthusiasts for carnivals, trade shows, alien costume contests, and lectures. I left hoping for more, but if you’re passing through it’s worth a stop — especially for sci-fi and alien fans or skeptics curious to see the other side. Practical details: located at 114 N Main Street in Roswell, NM; admission is $5 USD for adults with discounts for children, seniors, military members, and first responders; open daily 9am–5pm (closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving); they offer lectures and events and can be contacted at +1 575-625-9495 or roswellufomuseum.com." - Matthew Kepnes

This is a small and quirky museum, but everyone was so friendly. I was only stopping through as part of a long trip, but I wish I had all day to read the exhibits. The library is the crown jewel, and it is a library. I didn't go on an extended ramble about my numerous UFO encounters, but I got the feeking that if I did, the workers would have taken it in stride. As an eccentric bearded conspiracy theorist, I felt very much at home here. Also the art collection is notable, including official paintings from the betty/barny hill incident. I will be sending them some books from my own collection, they deserve our support. Also UFO's and aliens are 100% real

This was a fantastic place to learn about aliens and the history of Roswell. I especially enjoyed the museum’s library wing, which is filled with fascinating alien-related materials as well as historical archives from the region. The main exhibit area was equally impressive, offering an engaging and extensive collection of displays that bring Roswell’s unique history to life.

This museum is a very fun and strange place to bring your kids while in Roswell. While the decorations around the museum are a little childish, the information that is placed around the museum are very informative and interesting. The entrance is cheap and let's you come back until they close.

Interesting stop and worth visiting if you’re in Roswell, especially for the history and novelty. The museum does a good job presenting the Roswell incident timeline and the local perspective. That said, much of the information is fairly surface-level, and a lot of it can be found on your own with a decent YouTube video or Google search. Still enjoyable, well-organized, and a fun part of the Roswell experience—just don’t expect deep new revelations.

Wonderful walk-through exhibit of the 1947 flying saucer crash in Roswell, as well as the cover ups and conspiracies that followed. Very informative with touch to play video monitors as you make your way through the museum. While small children may not find this museum to be the most exciting, older children and adults of all ages will appreciate the exhibits, the testimonials from those who were actually there, and information involving other encounters throughout history! The simulator is really cool, and there is no shortage of information and testimonies here to fuel the mystery surrounding what happened in the tiny town of Roswell almost 80 years ago! Highly recommend this museum! It should be your first stop if you are visiting the town of Roswell!

This is such a fun place to visit whether you are a believer in UFOs or a skeptic. There are so many displays & pictures to read about, so you can make up tour own mind based upon the information provided. You can spend anywhere from a couple hours to all day. Would highly recommend & would happily return.

In February 2025, we visited the International UFO Museum in Roswell, New Mexico. We were on a road trip and visiting National Parks and historical sites in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Carlsbad Caverns National Parks does not allow for any tours after 2:30 PM, so we decided to visit Roswell, NM for the alien attractions. By the time that we arrived at the International UFO Museum, it was closed; nevertheless, the alien decorations and scenery in Roswell were super fun to see. Legend/history has it that an alien landing happened in 1947, and Roswell has been enjoying and benefiting from that legend/history for the past 78 years. Thank you, International UFO Museum of Roswell, New Mexico, for contributing to our amazing Southwestern United States road trip experience. I included pictures of the International UFO Museum and some of the surrounding stores that all have clever alien displays.

It was great to get to this museum. It is small and easily navigable. Lots of photos and reading, some video, on display, done on a timeline- more of a historical recount of significant events and people, very informative for newbies. My favorite part of the museum was the back wall which displays a quote by Stan Friedman. The gift shop has something for everyone! Parking is easy, the museum has two lots one right next to the building, the other is directly across the street. This really is a must see for anyone interested in the topic. It will take a leisurely one hour to get through it, if you are intent on reading all parts of the exhibit, you will need more time. The museum is located right in the heart of the Main Street of Roswell close to other attractions and restaurants. It is an easy walk in any direction to see other things on your check list.
