i stayed here for a few nights with two of my friends, and i strongly advise to stay away from this hostel unless absolutely necessary. the 24-hour reception and the location near the city centre were great and promising, but stepping into the room was quite a shock. the cell-like room we stayed in had a pungent smell of moisture and mold, so we had to keep the window and door open all the time. upon arrival, we checked the beds for bed bugs and found blood stains on the mattresses. the bed linen was clean, however the pillows had a sour smell, and although cleaning apparently took place during the day, it didn’t seem to make a difference. two of the safes in the room didn’t work either.
on a more positive note, the floors were clean and the showers were functioning. it has to be said that there are no amenities, so bring your own towels and toiletries. the breakfast was good and consisted of a cup of coffee, some fresh bread and a microwavable pastry. what we found slightly unnerving and frankly concerning was the fact that despite being advertised as a youth hostel, there were many mid-30s men hanging around the hostel. when checking out, we were shown a luggage room that the staff promised would be locked. when we came back a few hours later to retrieve our luggage, the door to the luggage room was open and our bags were moist from the moldy room they had been in.
overall, staying here was a tough experience. we tried to minimize the time spent at the hostel, which made this a decent place to stay at. i still wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
