On the Grid : Südseite Internationale Buchhandlung

"There aren't a lot of bookstores anymore. No wonder since everybody is looking down on their phone, phablet, ebook-reader, you name it. But this is a real bookstore and it is international. So if you want to read a book with real pages made from real paper, this is your best bet. They have a good selection of english, spanish, russian, italian books and german books. The staff is friendly and if you need information on a book they will help you. It you are looking for a notepad or a pen, this is a good place to look." - Dreimorgen

I, inadvertently, came across this beautiful bookshop called Südseite Internationale Buchhandlung in Frankfurt and I ended up buying the two books. The shop is run by a sweet old lady who has immense knowledge on books. As the name, the shop is truly international as it houses Italian, French, Portugese, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Persian, English and of course German books. To me this was a rare opportunity as not everybook bookstore in Germany offers books in so many languages. This very much made my day as it was my birthday and couldn't have asked for more! 😍

Amazing bookstore with a large selection of books in multiple languages. It’s so rare to find English bookstores in Germany let alone ones that also have french. The lady running this store is so sweet and knowledgeable. I’ll definitely be coming back! Note: cash only Books are wrapped in cellophane so it helps to know what you’re looking for or she can assist

About the only bookshop in town where you have some fun. People actually have an interest in what they do. They have read what they discuss and may suggest to you. They sell books in a large variety of languages and certainly not just mainstream, to satisfy the curiosity of their customers. They do not even have a website, the place is a bit weird, however I think this is more 21 century than the other sales points in the over-regulated and deadly boring German bookmarket. Since more than 20 yrs I am again and again back at this place as I think there is no alternative for curious readers in Frankfurt, apart from Amazon off course.

Very nice bookshop owned by a very knowledgeable lady! I was looking for beginner level Russian literature, and she handed me the perfect book right away. There is a section each for many different languages like English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, Greek, Arabian, and so on!

All the books are wrapped up in cellophane and you must ask the lady to open them for you if you want to browse inside, which is a little bit insane for a bookshop. The selection of english books is good, leaning slightly to the left of the political spectrum. Shame about the cellophane otherwise I would go in more often to browse and probably buy.

A beautiful, very personal little big bookstore. An amazing and unique range and choice of international literature and languages. The books are handled very thoughtful and with respect here. A gem of a store for you and me, the "Bahnhofsviertel" and Frankfurt am Main.

There are books of various languages, English, Spanish and etc. Is like a mini international book store. For non-German readers, might find something you like here.

Books wrapped in plastic so you have to ask to see them, but the lady is helpful and it's a well curated selection.
