I have used this budget hotel over many years on visits to Chiang Mai and recently I was pleasantly surprised to book a room in the newly opened multi-story annex which provides luxury accommodation. This annex is named the A – HA (Inthanin) and for 650 baht per night one can enjoy a spacious and comfortable air conditioned room with modern décor. Unlike the budget accommodation, there is a refrigerator, electric kettle, a range of modern furniture including a large wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom with a modern shower cubicle. The colour television is of latest design which also enables you to access the internet and other popular apps. All rooms have a small balcony and you can enjoy panoramic views of Chiang Mai from the upper floors. To book a room you must still go to the main reception in the older hotel however there is a small reception area for enquiries and key-drop etc. You can enjoy drinks, food and snacks on an adjacent patio. There is ample parking space, some of which is covered. The budget “commercial traveller” type hotel is very popular with Thai business people and families for overnight stays. The hotel is within 10 minutes walk of the old walled city and the Central Plaza Shopping complex but to get to the Night Bazaar and its surrounding entertainment you must take a tuk-tuk or taxi bus. The Reception girls are not fluent in English language but they try their best and you are made very welcome. If you are on a car, motorbike or bicycle tour of North West Thailand (Lanna) this hotel, budget or luxury, would be ideal whilst visiting Chiang Mai. The inner ring round is quite near and provides a fairly easy departure avoiding all the traffic congestion in the central area. From the airport it is about 15 minutes drive by taxi and costs around 150 baht – if booked at the taxi desk in the airport. It is slightly longer and a little more expensive from the bus and railway stations.
